For a joint that opened in the middle of a "pandemic", they aren't doing too bad! This place is a very different Vietnamese joint to say the least! All in the best way for it to be different. For me, Vietnamese restaurants usually offer Pho. Don't get me wrong, they do. But they are not a Pho joint with smatterings of different dishes from Vietnam. No!!! This is a Vietnamese restaurants that offers everything else with pho as a minor offering. It's very different. They offer more than pho and it's pho that's doesn't use beef broth (which is my favorite!!!!) but they use chicken stock. Which will make it lighter, not as rich, and you do lose the depth of flavor for sure. But rest assured, Vietnamese dishes are customized by the herbs, sprouts, Sriracha, chili paste, and Thai basil to add more of that flavor. The atmosphere, though new is very clean, well lit, and spacious. The service, pretty on point. I didn't know what I wanted since they didn't have beef based pho so I had to do a couple passes through the menu. The prices are pretty affordable, ranging from $11-$15 with tax. With tip you're looking at maybe $15-$20. Now the food. I ordered the Congee... duck congee. If you don't know what congee is, it's like a rice porridge. For rice porridge, the flavor was so pure, light, clean, and yet there were levels and depths to the congee. With the duck meat, and because I'm a foodie like that, ordered the extra $2.00 giblets which was a block of pork blood, chicken kidneys (i think), and maybe a couple gizzards and some heart on top of the duck meat, which unfortunately wasn't that much. I'd had more bones than meat which was kind of a disappointment but satisfactory enough to be negliable since I had the rando giblets also adding a new flavor and texture to the congee. Then with the addition of the basil, sprouts, lime, and chili paste added yet another dimension to the dish of which I highly appreciated! I definitely recommend this place. read more

Had to opportunity to dine in during the first day of their soft opening. The menu offers a variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes from Congees, Rice Plates, Noodle Soups and much more. The Half Chicken Plate was 5/5! The chicken was super juicy and tender. Topped with ginger and scallion sauce. This plate is served cold. Chicken Congee 5/5 Nice flavors. Reminds me of home. The bowls here are huge. They leave enough space in the bowl to fill up with your favorite veggies and condiments. Chicken Pho 4.5/5 Mild in flavor. Generous portions. I thought i'd give com ga houston a try today, i knew they would be busy so i ordered take out. Got 1 pho ga, 3 com ga comes with soup on the side and goi ga bap cai bap cai chuoi. When i got home, i have no idea who packed my food, the soup container's lid was not completely closed leaving the soup spilled in the bag. Secondly, i opened my com ga to take a look i was super excited to try it because everyone said it was good. The inconsistency of how much meat i got in each box were highly disappointing. I didnt even get rau ram in one box. I'll try again to eat at the restaurant, but this was such a turn off for me because everyone said the portions of chicken were generous. Must try if you're into vietnamese/asian food. my wife got the Com Ga (rice) and i got pho ga so we could try both. we also got the banh khot. the pho broth was very fragrant which makes it so much lighter and distinct from the beef pho served in almost all other pho places. my wife's rice dish was also very memorable. the rice is not plain white jasmine but cooked in something that gave the rice itself a color and flavor. Wow. the banh khot was a great compliment to our main dishes - crispy and eaten with the lettuce and herbs. maybe the best thing about this place is the sweet nuoc mam (sweetened fish sauce) served with all dishes and meant for dipping the chicken. amazing blending of sweet and savory that brought out the flavors of everything dipped it in without overpowering. after trying it i totally understand why it's a menu item for to-go. we had it yesterday and i can't wait to go back. atlanta's vietnamese food scene has gotten a big boost with this new-ish addition. read more

Let me just start by saying that I don't even typically eat chicken. But my sister raved and raved about this place and I just had to try the com ga. Spoiler alert: the chicken was amazing! I don't know much about chicken but it seemed like they used some sort of "walking chicken". The texture was so firm and the skin on the pieces didn't even feel fatty. The goi was also so so good. Interior is clean and spacious with plenty of plants and a good amount of seating. got 2 plates of mixed light/dark com ga and goi ga. everything was good and fresh, chicken quality is good and cooked perfectly bouncy. also got fresh orange juice, price is a little high at $8 a glass but it does come in a big glass.. very fresh. my husband got their cafe sua da and it was perfect for him, he's a picky coffee drinker it came dark just how he likes it. wasn't busy at all, we sat immediately and food came out very fast. service was attentive and great! will definitely be back to try other dishes. read more

I tried the original Com Ga Houston place in TX not too long ago and I really liked their flavor. So I was very excited to hear that they recently launched one in Duluth, GA. So please keep in mind I have high expectations before coming to this place. We ordered rice, clear vermicelli and congee (all comes with the chicken/duck cabbage & banana flower salad). I must say our food today was quite good (9/10 similar to the ones I tried in Houston)! So it'll definitely save you a trip traveling there if you haven't known them before. The salad was fresh/flavorful as usual and it paired really well with the sauce. Chicken was soft & moist. Congee was really good with the right consistency (not too watery but not too thick). Our portions (rice vermicelli & congee) was huge! I was full with just 2/3 of my vermicelli bowl and haven't touched my salad much. Friendly staffs (they checked on us twice to see if we need anything else), clean restaurant & with good Viet music lol Apart from the good things, I still think the rice here wasn't as good (not as soft/buttery) as the one I had in Houston (like 8.5/10). The broth of the vermicelli was a little bland which I think they could improve more. We arrived at around 5pm and waited 15mins for our food, they were quite busy with dine-in/take-out despite that they had lots of staffs working today. With everything being said, I think the owners still need a bit more time to adjust the flavor as they just recently opened. They have salt + pepper, fish sauce, sriracha and etc. I wish they just had fresh peppers instead of pickled, but it worked perfectly fine. The goi (salad) always comes out so nice and fresh. The dressing is slightly sweet but not too sweet. The cabbage mixed with the fried shallots on top it's top tier! My husband got the Banh Canh- he loves it!! Although, I thought the udon noodles were going to be like longer? It was cut into pieces which kind of isn't bad but isn't the best. Depends if you like to slurp your udon noodles or not. Y'all want fine dining go to Umi or The Optimist. If service still bad, portion still uneven after few months, do what u gotta do. That been said. Flavor is definitely on point. I've been back a couple of times since the first time I dined in during their grand opening. Their service did got better and the food came out accordingly. The place is pretty clean and thank god for the AC. The food is good and the congee reminded me of how my mother used to make them. The reason I took on Le star was because of their sugarcane drink. For $8 it needs to be persistent. One day it'll be so good and another day it tasted like it was mix with water. Saw the sign go up a few months ago and been patiently waiting to try, and finally did. The pho ga broth was amazing and the chicken was moist and tender. Very happy with their flavors. But how long a bowl of pho took to come out (20+ minutes) the efficiency of the waiting staff left much to be desired of. Overhyped and Under-Served The Food: If my review is based on the food alone, then I would have given 3.5 stars. Com Ga Houston has garnered a lot of hype as us locals anxiously wait for this well-known Texas name to open its Georgia doors. Hype aside, based on my first dine-in visit, I was not disappointed with the taste and quality of the dishes I tried but also wasn't thoroughly impressed. My party ordered their title dish - Com Ga with bamboo shoot salad with a side of giblets and their chicken congee also w/ an added side of giblets. The food came out within 10 minutes and we were generally pleased. The portion sizes were good for the price ($16 - $18 per dish). The chicken was moist and had more flavor and color relative to a typical com ga dish at a Pho restaurant. The rice was also moist and had a mild flavor that balanced well with the chicken. For reference, imagine a slightly better Chicken Rice dish than the one serve at DAI NAM or the one serves at the now closed, TONY TONY PHO GA. The final rating for this restaurant, however drops to a 2 due to the disregard for professionalism. I had driven 40 minutes in a fast and furious manner to try to place a to-go order for my dad, who had been waiting to try their food and have not been able to do so due to the restaurant unexpected closure for several days citing maintenance issues. Around 7:15 pm , I tried calling ahead of time to place my order but no one answered the phone in all four attempts. I finally walked in at 7:41 pm. The restaurant hours shows that it was open until 8:00 pm on the door as well as online, and I saw several large dine-in parties of people still waiting for their food, so I proceeded to place my to go order only to be told that they were closed. I asked her why are they closed if they show online and on their storefront that they are open until 8:00 pm. She said she will go check with the kitchen, and then came back a few minutes later to tell me, "the restaurant is open until 8:00 but the kitchen closes at 7:30 pm." What does that even mean? I tried to clarify and asked, "so guests have to leave at 8:00 pm? Because I don't understand what is the point of 8:00pm if you stop taking orders at 7:30, then put 7:30." She could come up with anything except, repeating the 7:30pm cutoff. This place doesn't serve alcohol and their only drink options are tea, water and coffee, so really 8:00 pm is just some arbitrary guideline for this restaurant , and hours of operations are practically based on the mood of their staff that day. They should specify their hours as: 7:15 pm - we stop answering customer calls and 7:30pm - CLOSED. So the restaurant hours of operations are really this: Monday through Sunday : 10 am - whenever we feel like closing. Hahaha what a joke of a place. Also it was so insulting and just screams pure laziness when I survey the room to see so many guests still waiting for their food, yet the kitchen has closed when there is obviously still cooking to be done. I have over 10 years of restaurant experience ranging from fast casual to high end, and even the tiny no name shops uphold higher standards of professionalism than this well-established texas chain. But who knows, maybe people in Texas are just much easier to please. But personally, this place earns, at most m, two stars. Craving some good chicken dishes and consistent quality, just go to DAI NAM right down the street read more
