I heard they're closing at the end of this month and they've been on my list to try the best jjajangmyeon in Georgia. Jjajangmyeon and Jjamppong both usually have good deals. I grew up eating half and half so it's naturally what I felt inclined to get. The price here was fine and the cashier was nice. It looked elegant inside. For my takeout order, they took extra care to add a newspaper layer at the bottom. For the food... Jjamppong was delicious! It had a good amount of spice. I'm used to more seafood taste but for this deal it's alright. Jjajangmyeon was smokey, with a slight bitter char taste. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but it did have good veggies in it. Radish looked good but I don't know why the white onions were transparent. For this visit I got Shrimp Toast and Spicy Jajangmyeon. I have never had Shrimp Toast and I have to say this was really really good. Would totally get this again. The Jajangmyeon I got had peppers for the heat and so it had the sweat and spicy kick. It had some seafood and pork within the noodles and it was very tasty. Service was quick and friendly. They have service buttons at the booths and so you need to ring when you're ready. The restaurant has a calming atmosphere and is easy to be in. I can't wait to go again and try other items. All I remember was the heaping sauce loaded w/ chopped onions. And a fried egg which I'd never seen before as a topping for this dish. Tasted good - although leftovers not so great b/c the sauce felt more watery. Complimentary banchan included daikon and radish kimchi. Friendly service. My next visit had a different vibe re: service level - came w/ two friends, ordered 3 dishes to share, felt rushed to finish our lunch (even though there were empty tables), and the female servers kept staring our way ... maybe our conversation was so interesting?? Came in tonight for a usual dinner but tonight Chef Wong came up with a special that we tried out. It's insanely tasty! Two pieces of sliced eggplant stuffed with shrimp paste- very much like shrimp toast but no bread, not deep fried (pan fried), and sliced cucumbers with a sauce based with oyster sauce. We came here on a weekend night, and it was not too busy. We ordered the Mongolian beef, spicy seafood noodle soup, sweet and sour pork, and hot braised chicken. The pork and chicken dishes were my favorite. They were perfectly crispy without too much oil or batter. The seafood noodle soup was tasty, but had a weird smell (potentially fish sauce). Service was okay, as we had to flag down the waitress a few times despite there not being many tables. The interior was cozy, with several tables and booths. The price point was average for the area. The Grub Hub delivery service was prompt; however, the quality of the food was unsatisfactory. The fried rice lacked flavor, and the stir-fried vegetables were cold, with the broccoli being undercooked. While the restaurant demonstrates potential based on the flavors I experienced, it currently aligns with the standards of a fast-food establishment, reminiscent of Panda Express. We searched for Chinese Korean food and found very few options open on a Tuesday. Chef Wong's restaurant happened to be behind Jeju Sauna where we were coming from, so we decided to stop in. The food was DELICIOUS. We've honestly tried many Korean Chinese restaurants because it's our favorite food and this one topped our expectations! Definitely a hidden gem in Duluth! We tried jjajang bap (black bean sauce with fried rice), fried dumplings (mandu), jjajang myun (black bean sauce with noodles) and tangsuyook (fried breaded pork with sweet sauce) and everything was outstanding. The tangsuyook and black bean sauce were much better than what we are used to eating in Korean town in Dallas (Carrollton area). We hope to be back soon! The service was excellent and we even met the chef, who was very friendly and made sure everything was satisfactory. Last but not least, the portions were large and the prices were reasonable. I had come here because my family wanted to. So we got the jyajangmyun (black bean noodles) and fried dumplings. The jyajangmyun noodles were very chewy and the sauce was a tad slaty. The fried dumplings were not as expected. The dumpling skin was thicker than expected, and the stuffing wasn't as flavorful as the ones you usually get at other restaurants or the ones you get at grocery stores. Service was decent, they brought everything out pretty fast. They also gave us our check pretty fast, which is was kind of convenient since we can pay whenever we were ready. Overall, there are better Chinese restaurants, especially if you want some jyajangmyun. And if I were to order some things, my opinion may be different. read more

I have been coming here for a while now, but today made me not want to come here anymore. The food wasn't what we usually get and at the end of the meal when we paid ($84 bill) they took the $100 bill and never came back. We waited there for a while and that's when we realized that they had actually auto tipped themself. I have never seen this done before. Didn't even bothered to bring the receipt with the change. I wish there were 10 stars. my family loves noodles but I'm not super crazy about them. but my daughter has been trying to get me to come here with her and I always decline. I caved in yesterday and came with the family and was surprised it was more than noodles. I had no idea what to order so I took their suggestions. MY GOD! First off let's talk about service. There two different women who stayed very attentive to not just st us but to a full restaurant. So nice and pleasant. The service was just amazing. The food was AWESOME! I had mussels and places always shell fragments there was not one. The saice was crazy. I could find multiple uses for that sauce. The eggfooyoung was amazing. I won't go through everything we had so many dishes. Not the price?? Here's the kicker at what I paid for the portions we received I had to make sure the young lady put everything on our bill. I didn't want to get her fire. But everything was there. Wow! The portions were large and the prices were low but nothing tasted cheap. I went back today because the mussels were calling me. Once again our server was amazing. She had sat us but after seeing all we ordered she moved us to a table so our food could spread out. No place I've been has ever did this. Here's your food cram table and all. Chef Wong came out moving through asking people how was everything. This was a plus. He cared about everyone's experience. Again something I haven't seen unless I was at a big ticket fine dining restaurant. I was taken back that he remembered my daughter and wife who are regulars. They brought out yellow pickled radish and another Korean radish appetizer to start with and a jug of water so we can refill it ourselves. It was a mixture of Chinese and Korean on the menu. It was family style dishes we opted for, so we got: - Salt and pepper shrimp: 7/10. Not bad, pretty tasty. - Mala beef: 8/10. Tender, flavorful, and spicy! - Egg drop soup: 10/10. I got 2 Jjambong (spicy seafood noodle soup), 1 Jajangmyun (black bean noodle), along with Tangsuyuk (deep fried pork with sweet and sour sauce) and Yangjangpi (seafood platter) which ended up being massive. It came in a huge box - I felt like that alone might have filled the 4 of us up. So I definitely put one Jjambong away to eat next time and we tried to dig into the food. All of it was quite tasty and I got the distinct experience of chinese take out food. We all really enjoyed the meal. The Jjambong is not your ordinary flavor like Korean street food, it's a bit unique but I still enjoyed it. Some may say otherwise, it's up to you to decide! She helped us order since it was our first time. They start you off with a sweet yam and kimchi. Im not a fan of kimchi, but I loved the sweet yam. We shared an egg drop soup which was still too big for two people. I got Mongolian beef and my friend got Pepper steak. They were both so good. The Mongolian wasn't too sweet and the pepper steak was perfectly savory. Together, they were perfect! Needless to say, we were pleased and full when we left. Chef Wong has been hubby family favorite Korean Chinese restaurant for the longest. I never went with them because I thought all they served were jajangmyun or jjambong. I decided to give this place a try for once after hubby begged me. I hated myself for rejecting this place for so long. The people that work here are amazing. I've been back twice with hubby and both time was the same lady; she's amazing!!! Hubby told me she always takes care of them when he's here with his family also. To the person that gave this place a one star because they didn't give you back your $16 change in a 84 tab; go short yourself. The first time I ordered from here (2+ months ago), I was really excited because their jjajyangmyun was top notch! The lady at the front desk was rude on the phone and didn't really understand me (though I speak Korean), I still valued the amazing taste and would have given it five stars. I ordered last week though, and everything was bad. The jjajyangmyun noodles and sauce separated from each other easily and the sauce had no thickness or flavor to it. The jjamppong, which I recall being excellent, was also bland this time. The tangsooyuk that I ordered wasn't amazing last time either, but this time it was barely any meat and just thick layers of batter around a toothpick of a meat. tragedy. read more

We had such high hopes for this place as it came highly recommended by an acquaintance. The flavor of the sauce on the tang su yuk was a bit odd and the batter was not made with rice flour. Trust me, you would know as soon as you bite into the meat. The jjajangmyeon was okay, but I wouldn't trek all the way to here for that. The jaamppong was not very good either. It lacked the rich broth that you'd expect. Additionally, it just lacked good flavor. The service was okay, which you come to expect in Korean restaurants. I ordered from Chef Wong yesterday to-go for my family because they were moving in. I was pleasantly surprised to see how WELL they pack their to-go's. I wish I had taken a photo of it, but they put the jjajang (black bean sauce) in the bowl with a separator -- anyways, it was just SUPER convenient. I walked in and saw a similar lay out to the predisscesor Kuk Poong. Immediatley I noticed a Chinese looking Gentleman near the front. I quickly commented "well you must be Chef Wong", and low and behold, he he said "Yes, in fact I am". Knowing that this was and apparently still is a Korean-Chinese place, I was curious to see the skills of the this new owner. We had the three basics of Korean-Chinese fare, Sweet and Sour Beef (this is often pork, but I prefer beef), red broth seafood soup, and Jajangmyeon (roast pork noodles in black soybean paste). At Kuk Poong the Red Soup and Jajangmyeon were always served in a half and half bowl. Here the products are each served in their own bowl. I really liked the Beef, adding small slices of Strawberries to the dish add some nice flavor. The Red Seafood Soup Had a greater degree of complexity then where Kuk Poong was at with theirs. The Jajangmyeon was probably about the same in terms of quality. The place remains a viable and affordable option for a nice quick meal. I noted that other tables were trying whole prepared fish dishes. I also noted that Chef Wong's more elaborate looking menu offered what seemed to be more tradition style Chinese dishes.
