Came for dinner and honestly the second you open the door you're hit with a very pungent cleaning supply smell. We got the springs roll and a bowl of pho each. The spring rolls came with a sweet peanut sauce but I would say not much meat in the rolls as I really could only taste the mint. The pho broth was sweet and pretty flavorful. Unfortunately they messed up my order I ordered a small but was given the regular. Would have still preferred small cause the noodles were pretty filling. The noodles were thick and pretty good! I got meatballs and tripe in my order but it was definitely lacking some tripe. The service was also okay, we were never checked up on or given refills on water. Ordered the combination pho and a shaking beef. The pho broth was more on the beefy side which we liked but for the price of a regular sized bowl, we expected it to be filled a bit more. Not much noodles. They also do thick noodles here, wished we had the thin ones (not sure if they have that option). The shaking beef tasted great, came with fried egg and a soup. I have not been back here in a few years and it is just as delicious as I remember. They make their pho noodles from scratch and the noodles taste completely different than the chain places. We popped in here for a quick lunch and it was a satisfactory experience. We got great service and good food. It was pleasant to take a break with them. We started with the pork and shrimp spring rolls which were tasty. Having the basil leaves' stem stick out amused us. The peanut sauce was delicious. One person got the fried rice and enjoyed it. Apparently it came with chicken soup but he was full when he finished the rice and didn't try it. My daughter and I both had pho ga and it was a tasty broth. I think there was a bit of star anise in it but it didn't take over. The noodles were wider than the standard "vermicelli" noodles. The plate of goodies included the usual lime, Thai basil, bean sprouts, and a lot more. You'll have fun making it your own pho. I sat facing the tv set which showed the chefs preparing food which was a lot of fun. The restaurant was well lit and the chairs were comfortable. I've been here a handful of times and almost every single time I've ordered the Phở Đặc Biệt. I usually don't order this at other pho restaurants but this place does it so well I can't refuse. We are talking about the perfect ratio of soup / meat / noodles. Speaking of meat, they are very generous with their meat servings even for a small order. The noodles are thick and delicious, not the el cheapo kind you find at most pho places. This place also doesn't skimp on vegetables and they also include a side of their house specialty hot sauce with your bowl. The house hot sauce really brings everything together. We came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and it was AMAZING! We ordered two chicken pho (regular size), and an oxtail one. Also, a pork banh mi. Everyone loved their food. I personally tried the chicken pho (took the chicken out cause I'm newly vegetarian), and it was delicious! The waiter even came over and showed us how to amplify the meat-eating experience by mixing the provided seasonings with some sauces (loved that). Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch and it wasn't as packed. I came with six people and we ordered the banh xeo, banh knot, and bun bo hue. Everything but the bun bo hue was good, nothing amazing but it wasn't bad at all. For the bun bo hue, i will say that it was pretty sub par and lacked a lot of flavor. BBH is supposed to be spicy, meaty, and lemongrassy, but it didn't really have that much depth to it. My friends said this was really good for bbh so maybe they had an off day considering we ordered six bowls of it, but they do have a large menu so next time i'm in the area i would give it a chance again. read more

We were going to stop by VN tofu for some snacks but they were closed so we decided to have dinner instead. Pho Dai Nam is in the same shopping center as VN Tofu and Hong Kong. Upon arrival we were seated right away. We ordered a bowl of pho each and a Vietnamese coffee. The broth is so good! The noodles are thick just they way I like them. I wasn't very hungry so I got a small pho with filet mignon. Next time I'll have to try other things off the menu. This is by far my boyfriend most favorite Vietnamese restaurant. He loves oxtail pho so much he keeps asking to come back. And if I ask him, "Baby, where should we go for pho?" They definitely don't use MSG since my body didn't have an allergic reaction afterward. I didn't like how they didn't take the time to trim the fat off of the brisket and cut the tendon pieces smaller for their pho. It was weird that they served hot tea in a Styrofoam cup instead of a tea cup. They came by every now and then to service me. So the customer service was ok. I saw Dai Nam open up a while back and then saw Pho Dai Nam open in the Hong Kong Supermarket plaza more recently. It is located on the side of the plaza. We stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. We were one of the first tables to be seated. The menus are riddled with typos... but sometimes I feel like Asians restaurants are more authentic that way. The more menu typos the better! We started with some appetizers - egg rolls, spring rolls and the highly recommended Banh Beo Chen, the savory steamed rice cakes, perfect for sharing. Everything was tasty. Also liked the pho - it really hit the spot! Maybe not the best I've ever had but I still ate it all! Pho dai nam offers authentic tasting home cooked Vietnamese dishes, I highly recommend the pho here. It's made with their made in house rice noodles, I got the pho dac biet and asked for the ox tail/bone marrow added. It was extremely good, probably the best pho I've had in GA. The rice dish was alright and so was the goi cuon. Pho dai nam is in my top places to go for pho. This would be what I consider a hole in the wall hidden gem. What an amazing restaurant. Officially one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants to visit when in Atlanta! The place isn't that big but it is clean and the service was great. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly owner and staff, they sat us down. The servers didn't really talk to much but that's fine. I noticed that their menu had a large selection of dishes which i was so in love with. I came in here hoping and praying they had banh khot (Vietnamese savory mini pancakes) and they did! So of course I had to order that. The next thing i saw that caught my eye was the mi Quang. I have never in my life had this dish before and i am Vietnamese so i got it to try. Banh khot - the banh khot was good and crispy. They usually give you nuoc mam cham on the side to dip these things in. I thought all the flavors were there. I def could taste the coconut milk (which is the base in this mixed with their flour). The nuoc mam wasn't too salty or too sweet. I enjoyed this dish a whole lot. I do wish that they added "thit bam" to their banh khot along with the shrimp, it would make it so much better too! So 9/10 for this dish and i would get again. Mi Quang - 8/10 - Ive never had this so i didn't really have much expectations. I thought it was delicious though, some people told me that the dish had too much broth? But i thought it was fine and that i was glad they gave me the broth cause I would not have wanted a dry noodle dish. Two things i noticed that could have been better were the chicken pieces & the noodles. Noodles could've been cooked a little longer because they were a little firm and the chicken was dry... very dry. Located on the very far side to the right of Hong Kong super market, I had to try this place out. The bahn mi was so good. The bread was nice and crispy!!! Loved it. I will say Dai Nam is my regular spot to dine in . I've been there too many times without any disappointments. But yesterday I came in and order Banh Canh Cua . As soon as I finished half of my meal , I bite something that seems off not meat texture kinda thing. And It was a piece of plastic in my food, it's kinda crumble pieces when I tried get it out from my mouth. Vietnamese restaurant Dai Nam moved from their old location nearby on Rockbridge Rd (http://bit.ly/38nOh5P) to the Hong Kong Supermarket shopping center, closer to I-85, in March 2019. They also added "Pho" to the front of the business name. This was perhaps an attempt to make clear this is a restaurant and not also a pool hall and cafe like the old location (http://bit.ly/2RdK8vu). The food and service were great. This restaurant is popular among Vietnamese people and offers several classic Vietnamese dishes you can't find at most other Vietnamese restaurants in metro Atlanta. This part of Norcross has a high concentration of Vietnamese businesses and it's not surprising some of the most "authentic" Vietnamese food in Georgia can be found here. This is a casual place with a clean and simply-decorated interior. Wooden panels and light fixtures, paintings of Vietnamese women in traditional dress, typical condiments like Sriracha and hoisin sauce on every table, a big TV, and V-pop over the speakers. Similar to other Vietnamese restaurants around town, Dai Nam serves pho, banh mi (sandwiches), and com (rice plates). The menu featured over a dozen types of pho priced at $8.95 for a small, $10.95 for a regular (medium), and $12.95 for a large. Banh mi were $4.95 each and most rice plates were $12.95 each. What makes Dai Nam special are its appetizers and "house favorites." A few examples include banh khot (miniature rice pancakes with shrimp, $8.95), chao long (pork organs rice porridge, $9.95), and bun mam (fermented fish soup or "Vietnamese gumbo," $13.95). Also served are a variety of Vietnamese drinks, juices, and smoothies ($4.95 each for most) plus che dessert soups ($3.95 each). Here's what we tried: * Soursop shake/smoothie ($4.95) * Banh beo chen ($6.95) - savory steamed rice cake with shrimp * Pho dac biet (regular size, $10.95) - house special combination * Bun rieu ($10.95) - crab and tomato noodle soup * Mi Quang ($11.95) - Quang Nam province thick rice noodle with pork and shrimp Based on pictures and reviews, I knew this place had the potential to be good and it was; everything was very good. I recommend all of the above. The mi Quang was my favorite, but I was also craving it at the time. The soursop smoothie was terrific. It was better than I expected which was average to above average based on smoothies I've had at most other Vietnamese restaurants. This one seemed to be ideal in both flavor and consistency. It tasted like tart frozen yogurt with a hint of peach. The consistency was smooth and icy, easy to suck through a straw. It was the perfect sweetness with no artificial flavor taste (even though there might have been) or strange aftertaste. Incredibly refreshing. If I come back, I'd love to try another one of their smoothies because this one was so good. The banh beo chen was tasty. I really enjoyed it. The rice cakes are served in small dishes so this one has a neat presentation style to it. The rice cakes are made with both rice and tapioca so they have a soft, chewy texture to them. Toasted bread, like croutons, provide a contrasting crunch. The shrimp is finely minced. This dish comes with Vietnamese fish sauce. Be sure to add the sauce liberally for more flavor. The pho was solid. I think Dai Nam's pho can stand up to any pho in Atlanta. However, if you're a fan of Pho Dai Loi, you may notice Dai Nam's broth is dialed back. I later learned that Dai Nam doesn't use MSG which is probably part of the reason why Dai Nam's broth tasted that way. It's more "pure." That said, the meat quality was top notch. It was some of the best meat I've had in any pho. High quality, tender, hardly any fat and gristle. The brisket, tendon (nice thick chunks), and tripe were my favorite parts. Also, unlike other pho restaurants, Dai Nam includes a bit of chopped Thai chilies and red pepper paste among the standard sides. I like that. The bun rieu tasted just as described on the menu. The broth had the same viscosity as pho broth (light), but it was red-orange in color and had a distinct tangy taste, full of umami. Bun rieu ingredients included ground crab, congealed blood, and fried shallots (yum). The sides for the bun rieu and mi Quang were different than pho. They included shredded lettuce, red cabbage, banana flower, bean sprouts, lime, and chili garlic sauce. In addition, the bun rieu came with strongly-scented and flavored shrimp paste. Mi Quang noodles look like egg noodles, but they're actually wide rice noodles that get their yellow color from turmeric. I loved the "al dente" texture of these noodles. I couldn't stop eating them. This is a richly-flavored dish with a lot of different ingredients. Along with shrimp, there were two kinds of pork (BBQ roast pork and Vietnamese ham) and even bone-in chicken, egg, peanuts, and crackers (not listed on menu). I'd highly recommend to call and make sure your order is ready before you drive there. Google took me to the wrong side of the restaurant. They are to the left of Chick-fil-A! The flavors were on point, and it was different compared to other pho restaurants in that their options seem a lot more extensive when it comes to noodle soups. I would recommend to eat here for noodle soups, because that's what Dai Nam is known for. The previous day or week we went to Pho Ga when we saw this place also just opened and we made it a goal to put this place on our list of places to try out. We came here and it was neatly tucked back which makes me afraid that it won't be here that long just because there won't be a lot of people that see it. It was a little bare because we came during a week day (and early), but there were a couple of tables that were being served. I got my usual. Pho Dac Biet. I do plan on trying something different the next time I go. However, the wife ordered different and enjoyed her pho. In my experience, the broth was good and the noodles were different. I believe they make their own noodles, but I'm not positive. I felt like this can definitely be a go to pho spot for us, and we will be coming back if we're ever in the need of wanting a nice hot bowl of pho especially when it gets colder.
