We stopped by Coma Coffee Roasters while waiting for our kids to finish up at camp. The space is situated on the first floor of the large office tower across from St. Louis Galleria. Overall, it is a beautiful build out. However it feels very stark, cold, and impersonal. The tall ceilings and furniture, while attractive, just left the feeling that I was in a lobby of an office building. We ordered a pour over and quiche to split. They had three choices of coffee for pour overs and all sounded wonderful. The coffee did not disappoint. It was well brewed and had great flavor. The quiche was also wonderful. Overall, would I go back to Coma? Yes. But I wouldn't venture out of my way for it. If I'm shopping in Brentwood, I would cross the street rather than endure Starbucks, but I wouldn't make a special trip. However, if it becomes a warmer, cozier space, I could see working remotely here. read more

I'm so glad I found Coma Coffee during quarantine it's literally been a lifesaver! It's conveniently located in Brentwood and easy to miss since it's located in an office building across from the Galleria. It's totally worth the trip. I had originally ordered their Family Latte I had seen on social media which was a half gallon latte. Obviously something I needed working from home with a toddler. I got coffee beans for my husband as well which were roasted to perfection. I tried the pink lady latte which was wonderfully unique and flavored with beetroot powder. I love the oat stout latte as well. They serve a full breakfast menu with some added rotating baked goods plus Pharoah's donuts on the weekend. Definitely a hidden gem. read more

After doing some research for top coffee shops in the St. Louis area I decided to check out Coma. I found the location a little hard for find for a moment, the GPS stopped right in the middle of the road so I had to use another map to get there. It is located in the front left corner of a large corporate office building but easily accessible once you find a parking spot. They had a really good looking menu with a lot of unique options, I opted for a latte and my boyfriend got a drip coffee. The latte was delicious, very smooth and the perfect temperature with some beautiful art on top. The drip coffee was also very good, not too acidic and I could probably have even taken that black (we love our cream and sugar and that just made it that much better). They also had a nice selection of baked goods, the sour cream donut was delicious! Definitely not a bad spot to stop on our drive through. read more

First time at Coma since I had 2 for 1 cold brews from my Experience Book. The 18 hour cold brew was super strong as expected but good with a little milk for me. I ordered the breakfast biscuit with bacon and my wife got the avocado toast with a fried egg. The biscuit was excellent! It was a huge biscuit with a light honey glaze on top and nice and airy. The egg was good and the bacon was high quality. I would definitely get this again! My wife's avocado toast was unfortunately not as good... The amount of seasonings paired with the sourdough bread that was only lightly toasted was too salty and sour to finish. The bread was good by itself but she needed the egg to cut the strong taste of the avocado. That being said, they have plenty of other good looking options and we'll be back. read more

Went there for burger week specials and happy hour. The food were amazing and happy hour bites comes in amazingly big portions with just $5-6!!! The drink was okay though and one of the bartender was new (on her third day working) and still learning. Since we sit at the bar, we can see her looking at the recipe and asking questions and taking a long while to make the cocktail. Kind of affect our perspective of the drinks because of seeing her struggled a bit there. But overall it was not bad and would wanted to come back and try the brunch and coffee. read more

Directly across from Dillards and in a corporate/residential tower where Blue Sky Grill is, this is in a lot that is a 3 minute walk from the Richmond Heights metro stop - but there is a parking lot with plenty of spaces for a weekend. There is no way I would have found or ventured to this place w/o yelp. It is so unassuming. But when you walk in, tall ceilings with lots of modern art-work for sale. It is extremely modern/industrial with a large counter for doing work and a fair amount of seatings w/ outlets. Pros: 1) Espresso 2) Outlets w/ usb ports 3) Wifi 4) Friendly people 5) Blueberry Cake-like donut 6) Occasional pop-up eats Cons: 1) Limited Menu 2) No real food selection - so don't come hungry 3) Pomegante juice expresso. Located right across from the Galleria in a dark and unassuming building connected to a hotel is a gem of a coffee house. Parking is free outside in the lot in front (right) of the hotel entrance. When you get inside, seating is a little confusing. You can seat yourself at the bar or wait for someone to notice you and seat you at a table in the main coffee bar, or upstairs in a dining room if you want more privacy. It just wasnt clear either time we visited what to do. Delicious delicious!! That is my review. Sumptuous rich coffee and really good quality food here. I have had the incredible avocado toast on crusty baguette and a chai latte on my first visit, then cocktails and sandwiches on my second. Every single bite I had to eat here was delicious. Like high end without a huge pricetag. My favorite thing was the goat cheese burger which was gooey and savory, the bun chewy and dense, the patty seared to a juicy perfection and seasoned well. I could eat that every day! The "buffalo" chicken sandwich was a really tasty crunchy big chicken breast on same fab bun, but spice was pretty mild. The sauce was a thin aioli with red cabbage that turned it pink! It was good, but not unusual. The burger came with fries, but I upgraded to truffle fries. Do this! Everytime. Thin crispy perfect fries with a savory oil drizzle and plenty of parm cheese, they were a knockout (And I am not a big fry person). We also had an order of fried pickles which had a very thin and crispy batter and nice ranch dipping sauce. Not too salty or greasy like some fried pickles. Very good. Everything here including sauces tastes housemade. The only thing I didnt care for was a wine spritzer I got which was sour and bland for a juice drink. The cider we had was amazing though. I ordered a breakfast burrito and added guacamole. This is very disappointing. More than half of the burrito was the guac and I literally couldn't taste anything else int the burrito which on the menu says it includes cheese, egg and potato. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich and a cold brew. To be fair, the Spanish latte may have been crafted well, but it wasn't my cup of coffee. Not their fault - I took a risk with the order. He does an incredible job at releasing natural flavors of the coffee based on its origin and other things as well. His meticulous attention to the roasts are demonstrated in every cup. COMA is my go to spot for coffee in Brentwood. I often find myself going out of my way to come to COMA. I find it to be a really relaxing place to sit and concentrate on work. The big windows offer plenty of natural lighting and I think it helps me to be productive. Their food is top notch. It may catch you by surprise, for instance not a lot of coffee shops will have amazing pork tacos, but they do. From avocado toast to biscuits and a full case of pastries, they'll have something for ya'. Another reason to come here is they have CBD! I know, I know... it's all the rage, but with good reason. I am surprised more Saint Louis businesses haven't figured out how to integrate it into their shops. It's an amazing calming oil that they put in their lattes. Inner Peace is my favorite one. First of all, the space is great! There are two floors and it is very open and welcoming. Plenty of tables and lounge like chairs - perfect for studying or remote working! The location is really central to all things Brentwood, but you might miss it if you didn't know it was there! Parking was a breeze. It seemed as if they may be a little short staffed (what restaurant isn't right now?), but we noticed they were going through orientation for new hires, so I think this will be resolved quickly! Even with minimal staff, our food and drinks were great and everyone we interacted with was very friendly! They were out of the entrée I initially ordered and the kitchen staff came out right away very apologetic and offered an alternative. The chicken was very flavorful and tender! The fried pickles were REALLY good! They weren't overly greasy and had the right amount of flavor. My jalapeno margarita was great - just the right amount of spice for me. I also got muffins to go for the next morning. Both the lemon blueberry and cinnamon muffin had great flavor. I did find them to be a little dry - but this is likely because I didn't store them in an air tight container overnight. read more

COMA is a super spacious coffee house located in the same office building as Blue Sky Restaurant and just across the steeet from Galleria Mall. The ceilings are tall, the artwork is dope, the seating is plentiful and the windows are wide open. The offer delicious coffee in all the typical blends & brews as well donuts and other small pastries. If you're in a hurry grab a parfait & OJ from the cooler and keep it trucking. I've wanted to try this place out for a while now but every time I'm here I usually have some other pressing appointment in the building. I finally made it in though and no visit to this building is complete without stopping in and grabbing a latte. And they make an excellent latte! What's more? The prices are quite reasonable and they also have food! I have perused the menu but have never tried their food, yet. I plan on doing so one day. The coffee is really good though! You could also get yourself an espresso. The place is clean, modern, well-lit, has that open concept and a few tables to sit at and enjoy your food or beverage or both. Even though it sits on a huge lot in the first floor of an office building, most of those spaces are taken by I assume the employees working in those offices, so I had to park in a corner. I wish there was like 2-3 spots in front dedicated to customers. Maybe they get busy during the morning rush, but when I went at like 11 it was pretty quiet and laid back. Inside is pretty dim. More like rainy day ambiance for a hot coffee and a puzzle, maybe not quite bright enough for me to be productive here. The coffee - the pitfall, I guess, of super light fruity coffees is that too often they end up tasting like sour fruit tea, and too easily there's not enough "coffee-ness" to balance that - and I really thought that of their ethiopian pourover. Really mouthpuckeringly acidic, and very floral blueberry aroma. Even in my fruity light roasts, I like my coffee to taste like coffee, and I didn't love my fruit tea. Even the espresso in my cortado was a little tannic and sour. Maybe my tastes have changed, or I'm not keeping up with coffee culture anymore. I do see the care and thought, I think the coffee was brewed well. Next time I'm in the area, I'd probably stop by again and just choose a different bean or something to see if I'll find something for me. (The avocado toast I had is a completely different story. Literally everything was wrong with this toast. Worst avocado toast ever. Walk in five minutes before they close while they are still open. First person that passes me tells me they're about to close. When I try to order she says they already shut down the espresso machine. Just to be clear, one doesn't shut down an espresso machine. All you do is clean it. Heard good things about their coffee, decided to stop in on a Sunday morning to get coffee and breakfast, as well as study a bit. The study atmosphere was pretty ideal, the music was on a low volume, there was a lot of natural light, and there were tables to sit at as well as couches to lounge in. The hype over the drinks was absolutely deserved, I got the pink lady latté (beet root powder with milk and coffee), my companion got the mint latté, both iced. These lattés were literally the smoothest and tastiest I've ever experienced in coffee. It wasn't too sweet, there was a delightful balance between coffee and milk / sugar. Absolutely phenomenal, best lattés in town. We also each got the breakfast burger, which wasn't much to write home about. It was satisfying and good to eat, but it was very basic. I'd like to try some other items on the menu because they looked tastier as well as more creatively made. They also had a decent selection of vegan baked goods, which were pretty good as well. This is a really lovely cafe! In terms of the food: the pastries are lovely, and the kitchen-prepared menu items are more hit and miss (if you want to order something more substantial, I highly recommend either variation of the avocado toast, because both are delicious). In terms of safety for people with dietary restrictions, it's a mixed bag; on the one hand, it's a good place to go if you're gluten free! (I am not, but it is one of the main places I go with a friend who is, because of how good they are at avoiding cross contamination. They have gluten-free pastries, and they use separate tongs and everything so that they actually stay gluten-free.) On the other hand, everything that's labeled "vegan" tells you what the non-vegan version of the item is (for example, right now they have a "vegan pork" special) but doesn't tell you what's actually in it -- and the people at the counter have never been able to tell me what the vegan cookies/vegan pork/etc are made out of. In terms of how it is as a place to hangout and/or do work: it usually has a bunch of people hanging out on their laptops, and has plenty of outlets and pretty decent wifi if you want to be one of those people. They also have seating available outside (and the wifi signal is pretty good there, too). There's usually a medium amount of noise -- too much if you need/want to work in silence, but not so loud that you can't hear anyone that you're sitting with if you want to talk. It was kind of hard figuring what rating to give because the coffee I got would be a 4 and the food 1 or zero. Atmosphere: very calm, clean, and aesthetically appealing. A nice place to do work on a Sunday Coffee: I ordered a maple cardamom latte which was really delicious. I love sweetened coffee and this had the right amount of flavor where I didnt need to add anything. Food: Dissapointing and nothing special to be honest in my opinion. Small and the biscuit was rather tough. The bacon was nonexistent and just not worth the money. I would have rather made it myself or go to a different place for food. Got the chai latte and bacon + cheese + egg biscuit. The chai was very flavourful without being overly sweet. The biscuit came out piping hot! All of the ingredients are very balanced in portion. Not a dog friendly place. None of the outdoor seating has shades, and if your dog is not a service dog you might just have to make it togo because the concrete floor outside is boiling hot. Also, it's super packed during weekends. I couldn't find any seats inside for 20 mins, which I totally understand. What I don't understand is that their employees was taking terms using one of the tables for break when there's at least 5 groups of customers waiting for seats. Some people just seating there using their laptops with empty coffee cup. Food is average. If you want a place for brunch on weekends, this is not a desirable option. read more
