Found free parking right in front, walked right up to the register to order, and found a nice corner nook at the window-facing counter (right next to an outlet) to set up my mobile work station. Love when I can avoid battling crowds. Having said that, with how good the coffee was and how beautiful the space is, I was surprised they didn't have a horde of people inside! Maybe it was because I was there at 9:30 on a weekday morning. But let's get to the coffee. I wasn't sure what I wanted, so they took the guesswork out of it for me by offering a flight of house coffee on their menu. One cortado (mine with almond milk), one drip pour, and one cold brew so that I could give everything a try. It was all delicious and the tiny foam art on the cortado was perfect. Overall, wish I could've stayed there all day enjoying the natural light and the grade-A roast. Will definitely be back! read more

Employees were not overly friendly/welcoming. We weren't sure what to get because the menu we found online was fall drinks. All she told us was what we could read on the menu, no other suggestions. While we were there, I had to use the restroom. It was gross. I asked a barista if it was their job to clean the restroom (since it was in a highrise, I wasn't sure if they had a company doing it). She said it was, and I proceeded to tell her the status of uncleanliness. She looked at her coworkers and just said, "we've been busy." The sad thing, they opened at 7, it was 830. Food was pretty good and coffee was great, but there weren't enough outlets to accomodate the number of guests working on their laptops. As a motion designer my laptop runs through battery pretty quick, and the only open seat next to an outlet was at a knee-height coffee table; I had to make a choice between having a comfortable table with a dead laptop after an hour, or a plugged in laptop with cramped wrists and a strained back to bend down and work. I'd go back to grab a coffee and go, but will never sit and work there again unless the seating and/or outlet availability improves. read more

I was out looking at houses and was running on E so I Yelped nearby coffee shops and found myself here, staring at an office building... odd. BUT BUT BUT! Boy am I glad I walked in, immediately you're hit with this minimalistic, well thought out, non-corporate feel and I could tell I was in the right place. My latte was spectacular and the pastry fit the bill for holding me over through 2 more open houses. The coffee is good. The food took way too long & I don't remember it. Maybe it's because of the space but the service feels stuck up. Like they have one incredulous eyebrow raised at you the whole time your ordering & leaves you feeling like you need to apologize for ordering. Inside the space is technically aesthetically pleasing but it feels - off, uncomfortable - like it's trying too hard to make "instagramable" happen. Outside, this is kind of a weird location for a coffee shop, inside an office building but far away from the street, and limited parking in the lot. Finding seating is hard if you arrive after 9am, and because of the set up most people are taking up more space than they need so it doesn't get utilized very well. read more

So I have been here several times, giving them lots of chances to improve, but it just falls flat every time, no matter what time of the day. The delivery of drinks is very unorganized whether you are getting it Takeout or not. They don't have enough room at front to wait for drink order, they don't place your name on takeout drink order so you have to ask them if it is yours and with so many of them making different drinks how would each one of them know who it was for if they don't write the name on cup. They all generally seemed annoyed when you asked them if it's your drink and same attitude when ordering. They give you a number if you dine, but they have to look all over the place, up and downstairs to find you, so more chances for them to naturally spill your drink. One thing they do well is their cortado! However, I am not impressed with their specialty lattes, they barely taste like anything. Recently, Their maple bourbon latte twice had tasted just like a regular latte with no syrup, very disappointed for the price of the specialty latte! Also recently they have served my nitro cold brew on ice before, big mistake and they didn't even Apologize when I took it back to be fixed. Their hot food is usually good but underwhelming. It has a good location and very nice staff but my girlfriend and I found their coffee to be um, well, undrinkable. We also ordered the day's special which was some sort of truffle egg dish. Aside from it taking we'll over 30 minutes to get served, this item was dense and tasteless. The server was kind enough to offer us a pastry to compensate us for our extended wait time. We split a cardamom blueberry muffin. Again, dry and tasteless. This is obviously a see-and-be-seen place but eventually their food and service will probably catch up with them. read more

This is one of the best coffee shops in St. Louis. I really enjoy their latte every single time. The staff are professional and friendly. The taste of the latte is very consistent which I don't experience at any other coffee shops. Every time I feel like gambling when I order lattes at other places because sometimes they can be surprisingly good but other times they could be either too bitter or too sour. However, I never have to worry at coma because their latte is always perfect. They added a food menu about a year ago. I haven't tried everything on their menu but my husband loves their egg and cheese biscuit. I'd definitely come back for their amazing latte and I'd love to try more food on their menu. read more

This is still one of my favorite coffee shops to come to. It's easy to locate and very close to where I live. The atmosphere has grown on me. I had to update my review since I have had a lot of their food options since they started serving food months ago and it impacts my opinion. I give Coma 4 stars for their coffee. I have had usually exceptional, consistently good coffee on almost every visit. There are some exceptions: namely the strawberry cappuccino. I understand that the strawberry milk comes from Ozark Creamery, which could be expensive but no bueno. I don't know why it costs 5$ for a cappuccino other than it comes in a fancy glass cup and has rose petals on top. It did not taste good. I usually get their burnt orange syrup as it has been a staple on their menu for a while now. It's rare it actually tastes like orange, but that's okay too. For the food--3 stars. I've had a lot of mixed feelings about their food, I've tried a lot on their menu. I used to get the avocado toast quite frequently before they changed it. Now it tastes really bland without much flavor, I think the absence of cheese particularly is very noticeable. Egg and olive oil are not enough to add a distinct flavor. It is not worth the money. Nor is the yogurt parfait worth 7$. The portion is way too small and there's not enough toppings. In general, here I've realized a lot of the food is overpriced for the portion size. I was also told today they don't do substitutions of any kind, which I find highly unusual. I just wanted to get pork belly on the avocado toast, to add some flavor, you know. That didn't go over so a little disappointing. They have had a few hit pastries but I wish they would offer savory options more consistently. They had this great cheese, meat, pretzel bread one time that was really prime. Service can range from friendly to indifferent but I must not mind because keep coming back and it is a solid coffee shop option. I enjoy spending time here and that's really what matters. Just be careful what food you order. Not much of it is meal-sized. read more

FYI, if you want a fancy latte, with a foam milk design, for dine in get the 12 oz because the 16 oz comes in a to ho cup. The fall hash was very good. The sweet potatoes were sweet and contrasted well the tartness of the goat cheese. Bacon jam was good and added some addition sweet/salty flavor. The peach and goat cheese toast was excellent. The sweetness of the peaches and cooked softness paired well with chew of the bread and tart bite of the goat cheese. The balsamic glaze added additional sweetness but could not detect any basil. Didn't care for the blackberry burrata toast. The flavor was one note with just the sweetness from the blackberries. The mozzarella added no flavor and the greens didn't add anything either. This is a bold statement, but I'd be willing to bet that this is the best cold brew in STL. After being introduced to COMA at a Yelp event, I bookmarked it but finally had the chance to stop by this past weekend. Though the location is odd on the outside, the shop on the inside is cute, with low lighting and lots of space to work. As mentioned, the cold brew is to die for. I've never considered buying a growler of anything until now (I'll take two). I don't care what the temperature is outside, I would drink this year round. The beautiful part is that it doesn't need any doctoring whatsoever - it is perfectly smooth, bold, and has hints of caramel. Stopped in today for the Yelp event; Adopt-A-Family. I enjoyed a fresh drip coffee and coffee cake muffin. While my mom had a drip coffee with caramel and what we think was a veggie scone. The muffin was delicious; soft, cinnamony, and big. My mom said the scone was good too. There is a little area with creamer, raw honey, and sugars. The location is right across from the Galleria. This coffee shop has the welcoming ambiance of a gynecologist's office. I know they have "coma" in the name, but honing a hospital-like atmosphere really isn't appealing for any coffee shop. I am writing this review for the Coma in University Club Tower across from the Galleria. I work in this building and have a tendency to pass this coffee shop on a daily basis without giving it a second thought. I don't drink a lot of coffee, so it just wasn't on my radar. But now that I've had their food ... the game has changed for me! A few days ago, I had an iced decaf mocha, the avocado toast, and a side of bacon. Hey, anytime I see bacon, I have to have it! The decaf mocha was perfect ... not too sweet with the just the right amount of rich chocolate flavor. The avocado toast here is now in my top two in St Louis ... it's that good! It's a healthy serving and very flavorful. And of course, that bacon was crispy and delicious!!! Now I'm back two days later, eating here again. This time my dining companion had the avocado toast, which he REALLY liked, and I tried the October breakfast special (bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit). It can be had for $6 by itself or $8 with coffee. Wow ... I was not expecting it to be this good! For a coffee shop, these guys make some very tasty snacks. The biscuit was buttery and flaky, with a fried egg, cheese, and crispy bacon. I hope this one makes it to their permanent menu! With all the places we could go for a breakfast snack and a coffee, it says something that we're back here within two days. The space is bright and the staff are friendly. There is always artwork for sale on the walls, plenty of interesting snacks, and even treats to take home for you dogs (proceeds go to a pet charity). This was a coffee shop with a very modern, airy and stylish feel. It was PACKED when I got there at 1130. Luckily I was able to find a spot to sit on the loft area seating. This place was filled with lots of friends catching up as well as college students studying for the upcoming week. I got a brown sugar cinnamon latte and an egg sandwich...both very tasty.
