It seems that a lot of restaurants have been closing lately and so I missed lunch in Carrizozo. By the time I got to Tularosa, I was famished and so chose this place over a couple of others based on Yelp ratings. When I pulled into the parking lot, it was nearly empty but the hour was late and the possible lunch rush long over. It turned out I was the only customer. I was quickly seated and waited on but I noticed that the menu was dog-eared and a lot of items were priced quite high. Maybe I was paying for the faux Mexican atmosphere. I settled on stacked enchiladas with rice and beans. What could go wrong with a standard item in New Mexican restaurants, right? It turns out that while the red chile was plenty spicy, the plate had been microwaved with the shredded beef burnt and the melted cheese around the edges of the plate burned as well. I have a policy not to send anything back as it invites a loogie, but I also have the policy of crossing an offending establishment off my list of dining possibilities. While the server was polite, the food was unacceptable. Next time in Tularosa, I'll eat elsewhere. read more

Have not been here in a long time. Stopped in on a Thursday for a 11 o'clock lunch with friends. We are from the west coast. I had the chimichonga plate with ground beef. I ordered it "Christmas " because I love red and green chili. As you can see the plate looks great. Nothing was overlooked or soggy. Chili and spices were just right. Service was prompt and courteous. I thought my lunch was fantastic. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because we had to pay 7.99 for "bottomless" chips and salsa. Nice little place for a small town. I highly recommend the buttiro plate with the carne adovada. I also recommend getting it with "Christmans" style sauce. Posloe was rich and flavorful. The Rolled Tacos were a good appetizer as well. A little miffed about paying for tortilla chips and salsa, but the sauces are worth it. Came in on a Monday night after visiting white sands. They do not give you free chips and salsa and want $8.75 for bottomless. Now it's just my fiance and I and we would have loved a single order of chips and dip for maybe a few bucks but thats not an option. We ended up getting it anyway and the salsa was good but spicy so be aware of that. I ordered a chicken burrito smothered in queso and it was delicious! The chicken was seasoned well and the queso was very good. I could give this burrito itself 5/5 stars. My fiance ordered the green chile burger and said it was good, but said it was very salty. place seemed very clean and was well decorated with beautiful paintings on the wall. Great service and the food was on point. Beautiful setting, loved it from the moment I pulled off the highway. We got the appetizer platter, and all of the items were fresh and tasty. The mini chimis on the platter were great! The light breading on the fried avocado was perfect. My mom got the chicken enchilada platter for her meal. The chicken was so well cooked, like it was cooking for days! And the green sauce is a highlight of the meal. I got a combo platter to give a few items a try. The crispy taco was disappointing because it was just a store bought crispy shell. I would prefer a tortilla shell and the kitchen take the time to crispy that instead. The red sauce has a kick but it's great too. Same wonderful, juicy, delicious chicken in my chicken burrito. I and the family stopped by for lunch. We'd never been there before, but let me tell you...WE WERE SO IMPRESSED. It started with service and ended with service, but in between was amazing fajitas, chili rellenos, green chili burritos, quesadillas and much more! Amber provided great service, right down to my request for a lemon wedge in my Diet Pepsi. She didn't miss and details and even anticipated our need for to go boxes. Matt, the owner, not only provides a great value for the price, but goes way beyond the normal aloof boss attitude. He noticed us having a mechanical problem with our rental car. He came out and helped get us back in the road with some expert advice. The place is awesome. We were very hungry & couldn't find anything open in Carrizozo. Decided to make the drive over to Tularosa to try to find some grub and we were elated to find Casa de Sueños open on Monday afternoon. This place is well worth visiting. The salsas were amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed my chimichanga "Christmas style" which is a quintessential New Mexican culinary experience. My buddy was stoked on his smothered grilled chicken dish. The chicken was smoky and obviously fresh. The iced tea was perfection on this 103 degree afternoon. The service was friendly and prompt and the chips and salsa, although not free, kept coming making this a very memorable meal. I saw a lady at an adjacent table get a picturesque burger that looked pretty huge. There's no way she finished it, but it looked awesome. I'd recommend anyone dine here if they are in the area. Food is moderate to good. Service is lacking, one person trying to serve late afternoon and niight without help- plan on waiting. Our order was unpalatable until i sent it back. If you ask for something like queso on Enchiladas instead of red or green chilies sauce there is an additional charge that they dont tell you about when you order and youre not informed at the time. You never get an itemized statement. Last time we were there the soft tortillas were free. Bottomlesss chips & salsa $7.95 but you have to wait a long time for the refill. Basically i felt like they dime & nickle you without telling you. Some sopapillas we puffy, the table next to us were not. She thought they had been ftozen. Ambiance- music was good but loud. We ate there on 7-25-2025. The food was absolutely horrible. My sister in law ordered a glass of milk with her Mexican food and the milk they brought her was clearly soured/smelly. The ground beef that was included in our tacos and taco salads had a very off taste and smell. We live in the area and this used to be a predictably good and busy restaurant. The back portion of the restaurant is not used for seating anymore. The smaller front portion of the restaurant is all the is needed for the almost non-existent crowds. We were about the only people there on a a Friday night at 5:30pm. The building shows a lack of upkeep as the stucco in the front of the building is cracking a falling off. read more

Spent a week in Alamogordo on a business trip and went here my first night. It was so delicious, we returned at the end of the week! We were seated quickly and the ladies waitressing the tables are so sweet. Be aware that their chips and salsa are NOT complimentary, but still soooo good! The salsa is very spicy. Casa De Suenos is a gem. The food is incredible. The staff is so dang friendly. The carne adovada sopapilla and the pork chop were stand outs on the menu. Food that we'll be thinking about for a while. It's worth the drive from Alamogordo, if you are visiting the National Park. If you get poor service at this establishment I suspect that's a reflection on the type of person you are. Time moves differently in the desert so if you need fast food, go get fast food. Used to be 5 stars, sadly I have to reduce to 2 stars. Unfortunately, the premises have fallen into disrepair and lack of cleanliness. My table was covered with clear oil cloth. The wood top had split along with the oil cloth. Food crumbs were in the crack and shoved under the oil cloth where they have built up. Truly disgusting. The food is no longer consistent in quality. So sad to see this long standing establishment go so far downhill in the last few years. read more

Talk about a party! This place is huge and has some awesome vibes. When the world is back to normal, im sure this place will be packed again. The food was really good compared to what I get at typical Mexican restaurants in Ohio where I'm from. I will say the guacamole was the only disappointing part. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. We had just gotten to Alamagordo to an RV park for several days and our first stop was the Pistachio Land farm tour (great tour, by the way), then for Mexican food. A little off putting to see the sign at the door saying "Chips and Salsa $7.95". I know that the economy stinks but still....this is the first place I've ever seen that. I just think if you are spending good money for drinks and entrees, that should be waived. We both had local IPAs which were very good. We ordered guacamole (figuring that was a good way to get chips free lol!). The guacamole was good, the chips were rather hard. Not light and crispy at all. We had to request salsa. I didn't look at the bill but we may have been charged for that. I ordered tamales - one with red sauce and one with green sauce. It was very tasty. And the portion was large so I took home a to-go plate. My husband ordered the salmon - and he says he should have known better. Salmon in the southwest US (eye roll), but we have been on the road for three weeks and wanted something a little different. I've since learned there are some better restaurants in Alamagordo so we would skip this one another time. read more

We visited on an early Tuesday afternoon so the lunch rush was over. We had excellent service and all the staff there were quite friendly. I had stacked chicken enchiladas and my husband ordered chicken chimi. Both were spicy and delicious and we brought home the leftovers for lunch the next day. Also their guac had chunks of avocado in it, which was great since most places just use that pasty frozen stuff... Side note: we brought our own reusable takeout container for the leftovers, and glad we did.
