Peña's Place is a small restaurant that was located up the street from our cabin. It's situated right at the roundabout with a small parking lot. The inside is small and I was greeted with a warm welcome from the waitress. I placed a to go order and got a breakfast burrito and western omelette with ham. I chose home fries as a side for both and ordered 2 cups or orange juice. While the service was great, I wasn't impressed with the food. My omelette was on the dry side and the cheese wasn't melted nor on the entire omelette, it was off to one side. My husband said his burrito was ok and the salsa was good. The home fries were dry and not hot. The orange juice was also very watered down. It appears that it may be better to dine in here and try other dishes as some people rave about this eatery. read more

We always come here when we're in Riudoso. Tiny place but great food, They make eggs Benedict on Saturday and Sunday only but so good. All the breakfast dishes we have had here were delicious. They also serve lunch but have not tried it yet. I'm sure it's as good as the breakfast! Try it! read more

We will be in town a few more days and certainly be eating here again. The service was great and the food was delivered piping hot. You cannot go wrong stopping here for breakfast. We had huevos rancheros and the breakfast burrito with 3 eggs, potatoes, and chorizo covered in tomatillo salsa. Our breakfast for two was $30 which seemed a steal compared to the $50 we spent at another place the day before. read more

Such a cute little solid local spot! Came here for breakfast and it REALLY hit the spot. I got the biscuits and gravy combo with chorizo and an extra egg on the side. PERFECT portion for me. We were able to sit right down without waiting and our food came fresh and fast after we ordered. Sidonia was so sweet and attentive. Even the glasses of apple juice and orange juice tasted amazing. I'm already anticipating my next visit, plus, just writing this review makes me miss the food already. If I lived here, this seems like the spot I'd swing by frequently! read more

Fantastic food! I had the Breakfast Burrito which is three scrambled eggs with green chile, potatoes, cheese, and bacon (or ham, sausage, or chorizo - your choice), all wrapped in a flour tortilla and served with beans. For $1.00 extra you can get it smothered in green or red sauce - Yes, red please! Warning for the small dish of salsa they bring, go lightly at first. It packs quite the heat! I also tried their biscuits and gravy (one biscuit), and it was crazy good! The waiter was working his butt off running amongst the tables in the small dining area - emphasis on Small! There's only room for about six tables so get there early (they open at 7:30am)! They do have a small outdoor courtyard with a couple of umbrellas covered tables. They serve breakfast and lunch only. Their lunch menu looks good and it states on the menu that it's served all day ...for those of you who aren't "breakfast people". Check this place out, it's a winner! Oh, and make sure you leave a nice tip for the hard working employees! read more

The man shoveling snow when we pulled up directed us where to park, it had been snowing and couldn't see tire tracks. We went in and sat down and he bragged that they had the same cook for 20 years. I sweet lady took our orders and the service and atmosphere were so inviting. The guy who was shoveling snow disappeared behind the wall and we noticed a newspaper article praising the restaurant owner/cook and his wife on the wall. The food was satisfying and delicious. Ok the combo plates 5 star. The relleno is the best I've had oddly. The green sauce doesn't taste green chili but instead tomatillo, which I prefer, so don't expect it to be spicy because it won't be, which I prefer . Now for the bad...the pancakes were so bad I couldn't eat them and I'm sad. I got pecan blue berry. They tasted dry and bitter like whole wheat. Dense and not fluffy. If I had not eaten the combo plate the day before, I'd probably not ever go back because the pancakes were that bad. So don't order those and you'll be good lol. Chips fresh salsa fresh. Breakfast (other than pancakes) great. Be prepared to wait during high season. Lunch available for breakfast too. read more

I came here for breakfast because I kept seeing good reviews but wow, the food was so bland. The green and red Chile sauce had no flavor. The burrito was bland...even the steak and eggs were completely bland. Also, the kitchen staff were not wearing masks and talking and laughing while preparing the food. Sadly I noticed this after eating my order. During COVID, I expect better. Next time I'm in Riudoso, I will skip this place. read more

This place might be tiny (you can't dine in any way due to COVID), but their food is def not!!! We were in Ruidoso for Valentine's Day weekend, and most areas weren't open. This place allowed take out, and so my friend and I both got the breakfast burrito with bacon and smothered with our Christmas favorite. If you're a New Mexican, you already know!!! The waiter who took our order was super chill, and the place just has a homie vibe. I would recommend eating here if you're in Ruidoso. read more

Very nice people with friendly service. However, the food was as bland as could be. I do not understand all of the rave reviews at all. Breakfast was so bland but we thought hey...maybe it was just a bad day for them. So we gave them a try for lunch on another day. Nope. The food just literally has ZERO flavor. I ordered biscuits and gravy. A breakfast stable in all 50 states. I got two of the smallest paper thin biscuits I have ever seen, and a canned white gravy that was all liquid. No substance. It was literally like someone open a can of white gravy starter and served it. God awful. The service was ok, but the need to issue each patron a fly swatted when you sit down. However in the battle with the fly's, and this food, I was happy to retreat and let the flys have it. We ended up going to eat again within the hour somewhere else. I wish I could give the biscuits and gravy a negative number and my ladies plain old egg breakfast was no better. All our food was served room temperature and I am pretty sure the flys had their way with it, long before we saw it served. As far as coffee is concerned, the only Joe worse, is in the White House. read more

I wasn't overly impressed with this place. The eggs were good. The omelette had exactly what it said it would have in it. Oh and the Orange peel garnish was pretty. The service was good and speedy however that was probably the best thing about this place. The potatoes were burnt I'm not sure if I was eating it a certain style. But it wasn't good. I love hash Browns and they are hard to mess up. I'm not sure why they looked and tasted that way. After browsing a few of the local eateries, we spotted this little family business dwelling and thought, "yes, let's go there!" We were greeted like family and got a table almost immediately- though cramped, it reminded me of my up bringing. They brought us chip and salsa, and these were heavenly. They coat the tostadas in a Chile powder and when dipped in the salsa, your welcomed with a sweet yet tangy mixture of ingredients. For breakfast, I ordered the cheese enchilada plate with a side of hashbrowns. My spouse ordered Eggs Benedict and 2 biscuits and gravy. All of which were flavorful, delicious, homemade, and served hot. If you are looking for a place with little to no wait time, a friendly and welcoming staff, I recommend you grabbing a bite here. 10/10 recommend. read more

There seems to be a consistent line out the door, so plan to wait some. They close at 2 pm, as they're only open for breakfast and lunch, so plan accordingly.

The hash browns were never a favorite of mine and they weren't any better burned (I asked for crispy). The sausage patties must have been thrilled to finally get out of their kitchen. Hockey pucks. The pancakes were just okay this time. Something different about them. Overall, don't waste your time.
