I didn't necessarily have the highest hopes for the comedy show, but I went in with an open mind. Unfortunately it was back to back cringe worthy comedians with quite similar material that really wasn't all that funny. Maybe that's a bit harsh, there may have been 2-3 comedians that were pretty decent. There's room for a lot of improvement with the decor... A LOT! Drinks wise, it was okay. Absolutely unacceptable and illegal! We booked 8 tickets and I called to request an ASL interpreter for the show as someone in our party is Deaf. Initially, the man seemed responsive and asked if I had any suggestions, so l emailed him multiple ASL agencies. However, I quickly received a call back informing me that they would not accommodate my request and would issue a refund instead. I repeatedly informed him that this was illegal according to the ADA and requested a written response to my email for documentation. He refused to avoid a paper trail. With covid and every day stress, I wanted some good laughs so I went to Comedy Club DC with my friends. Let's start with bar service. Every item I asked for was not available because the bartender didn't have time to make the drinks, even the ones listed in the menu! No to a rum punch, no to amaretto sours, pretty much no to anything I asked for. I was however, able to get a drink halfway through the show. Food. We didn't have dinner because Comedy Ckub DC offered food. We arrived as early as possible and even called in advanced to ask. We got menus but no one took our order. My suggestion? Planning on eating prior or after the show! Also, grab drinks as soon as you get there or during the show when drink orders are slower. The show lasted a lot longer than expected and we were starving! Unfortunately most places were closed by the time the show ended. Comedy Club DC was a fun atmosphere with energized hosts, okay drinks, descent food, and comedy acts that range from amateur to pretty experienced. Because this is a good spot for amateur comedians, don't expect this to be a Netflix special comic show. At the same time, that doesn't mean you won't see acts that will make you laugh out loud. The food come out in large potions, so you can definitely get full here. In my opinion, the chicken quesadilla is one of the best dishes served. It's filled with a variety of peppers and has a perfect amount of chicken and cheese. The burgers are pretty good as well, but the fries seem very basic and taste like pure grease. However, you can definitely go big here for dinner with a steak or herb roasted chicken for example. When it comes to the food service, it does seem a little too long to be served, but hey, the drinks come out quick! The mixed drink options are okay. This was perhaps the most embarrassingly un-funny series of jokes i've ever heard in my life. First of all it was their anniversary show, and the MC/announcer was dressed in a huge Gumby costume, using a high-pitched voice making crude aggressive jokes that were simply uncomfortable. By the end of the night, we were convinced he was cracked out on something more than weed. There were like 10 comics (maybe more) who went on, and the majority were unprepared, unprofessional, and embarrassing. One girl was so high that she just stopped telling jokes and started rambling about things that came into her mind. Another girl would tell really short jokes and paced around asking what should she talk about next every 2 minutes. Some of the guys spoke so low that you couldn't hear them. Any racist/sexist/prejudice jokes told were extremely awkward and had poor delivery. A lot of jokes repeated between comedians ("3-5 business days", game of thrones, uber, masturbating). I can't get over how bad it was. There were a couple guys who had more potential / were pretty funny. Can't remember their names, but the guy with the lisp, the latina woman (Gloria, maybe), and the stoner dude with the long hair were all pretty funny and memorable. Also, its a complete scam. We paid $5 extra for guaranteed seating since we knew we were going to arrive with 5 minutes to spare. I told the hostess, and she gave me an awkward excuse that since we didn't get there early, we weren't guaranteed seats. Homegirl, that's the entire reason we BOUGHT guaranteed seat tickets. Not to mention, the drinks were insanely overpriced, which was rough considering we NEEDED them to get through the show. I can't believe I spent over $250 for 6 people. 3 of us had one drink. 2 of us had 1 orange crush that was terrible and we were charged $13 each same price as a long island ice tea. We went to the Saturday night comedy showcase, and have to say it was one of the best comedy nights I've been to-a ton of performers, range of different styles, and I'd say about three or four seriously funny standouts who did interesting, physical acts that were both thought provoking and hilarious. Yes, we bought reserved seats and got there at 9 and there were no reserved seats, but people, chill, you paid $6.50 for your 'reserved seats,' a buck fifty extra. That's called not a big deal, and at that price, this night is a total bargain. The bar is kind of chaotic but again, chill people, you're here to laugh and hang out, and this place delivers. Diverse performers (could have been more female comics tho), diverse crowd, this place is a win. read more

I felt apprehensive to go here after noticing all the 2 star reviews, but I'd already booked tickets. Definitely was better than I thought. The comedians were a mixed bag but that almost added to the comedy. The host was great. Some of the comedians were hilarious. Others just made us uncomfortably look at each other and wonder what we just watched. The reviews about the place being freezing are true, however they are serving alcohol now. The only parts I didn't really care for were Gumby jumpy on the stage before the show (he set the bar realll low for the night) and the headliner, who's biggest joke was that he was somehow the headliner. He reminded me of someone who smashes bottles and starts fights at house parties. He seemed to know he was bad because he has a ready made line for hecklers. Overall, would recommend, especially if the prices stay under $10. I got reserved seating but I'm not sure what that means since seats are assigned according to when you arrive. Absolutely horrible. Worst comedy show I've ever been to. 2 stars for the venue. 1 star for the comedy. The venue is terrible: it's not really meant to be a stage. It's a bar where they crammed chairs together and left no passage. And people kept walking back and forth to the bar making everyone move in the process. And then the people at the bar were loud, talking and having conversations to the point where the comedy was hard to hear. Although you wouldnt really miss much, and "comedy" should be in quotes, but more on that later. But the staff wasn't saying anything to the loud crowd having conversations by the bar. Again it felt like a bar and not a place for comedy. And I don't know if they're being cheap but we realized that the staff at the door, checking your tickets, and seating you were actually the performers themselves. Now as for the "comedy", absolute worst I've ever been to and I've been to several from paid events to free open mics. And the worst open mics I've ever been to were so much funnier than this show. And it's not cheap! It's $18 a ticket. And it's loooong (we left after 2.5 hours). And it's boooring. In the two and a half hours we were there there were only 2-3 Good comedians performing for a total of 15 mins. OKAY I never write reviews I'm usually way too lazy, but this really really needed to be reviewed. My husband and I went to this comedy club this past weekend on Saturday night and out of the 10 or so comedians, one was actually really funny - but other than that 7 minutes of laughter we were fairly horrified. Apparently this place lost their liquor license so only had 7up to serve which I think was actually a good thing because if folks were drunk at this show it would have probably become nuts. Several comedians were so drunk and/or high that they made ZERO sense. Just 10 minutes of rambling, not even trying to make an attempt at comedy and it was incredibly awkward and eventually annoying that they weren't even trying for comedy. The host Im not sure what was going on she spent a while just asking audience members what their zodiac was one by one with no punch line. That was it. That was the joke. She just asked 12 and said "alright AWESOME you guys! Yayyy!" The last guy they put on was really what inspired me to actually write a review and warn anyone to never come. This was the longest act and was the most horrifying and bizarre 20 minutes of live performance I've ever seen. Screaming in the microphone nonsense. Running around yelling "winner winner chicken dinner!!!" For no reason. Yelling at the audience for not laughing, Yelling at the front row for not laughing. Screaming some more. Getting on his stomach and yelling doing some kind of break dance when it remained silent. No pity laughter from anyone simply because it was so baffling. I looked over at the host or other comedians to see if they were just as weirded out and the host was typing furiously into her cellphone grinning. He went on to shout nonsensically into the microphone and point at folks and say "I GET IT I GET IT I GET IT WOOOOO!!! WHERE DO YOU HAVE SEX?! WINNER WINNER!! THEY"RE NOT AFRAID YES I GET IT!!! LET'S BREAK IT DOWN CAAHAAA!" My assumption is maybe he owned the place and had some rich parents that bought it for him? That was the only theory we could come up with. The guy next to me looked like he was watching a puppy get tortured. I can't believe we totally blew $40 at this place. We get that sometimes jokes fall flat but these comedians were not even TRYING any attempt at jokes, the intro was some guy in a gumbi costume jumping around yelling and may have actually been that last guy to go on. My husband and I had to get quite a few drinks after because we were so weirded out by the whole performance and needed to not end on that note. I bought tickets to their dc comedy showcase. Tickets are cheap because its showcasing local comedians. So dont expect to have amazing bits and jokes. I got the VIP ticket for $1 more. It comes with reserved seating and a "gift." Of course like other reviews they didnt give us the gift during the show nor at the end of the show. So I made sure to ask the worker for the gift. It was obvious he knew the VIP ticket came with a gift, but questioned to see if their was any free tickets to give out. Free tickets were given to come back. I dont think i would repurchase tickets to come here again. So long story short, dont buy VIP tickets, just get the reserved seating ticket unless you want to haggle for gift down. read more

I am just kicking myself for not having read these reviews first! I agree with the one star ones! Unfortunately we did not enjoy ourselves. The host was probably the best comic of the evening. Some of the comics cut their acts short because their jokes didn't work, many lacked total confidence, and the majority of them just focused on discussing sex and swearing through most of their routine. I'm not a prude, but using foul language and discussing bad sex as the basis of your routine isn't necessary to be funny. Don't waste your money here. read more

I went to to the comedy club with my boyfriend because we just wanted to have a good laugh. However, that was not our experience. Out all the comedians only one made us laugh. Some were okay, some chuckles here and there. The rest just didn't seem to click or make us laugh. There was a point the whole audience didn't want to participate with one of the comedians that my boyfriend and I decided to participate because we felt bad. We regretted it after he said some sexually offensive and we just wanted to leave after that. Keep in mind we tried to be open minded about the jokes, but the show started too intense and some jokes seem googled. I might be no comedy expert, but I've been to 7 comedy shows (no here) and I never felt the way I did here. We left and decided to listen to the Jazz group playing down stairs instead even though our $20 were gone. Other than that I gave it here 2 stars because of the one comidan that made us laugh and the bartender who was very nice to us. Went to a show there on Saturday night...paid $10 a seat. Worst comedy show I've ever seen. The host was absolutely not funny at all. Embarrassingly bad. Seemingly unaware of how bad he was bombing. Comics ranged from mildly amusing (being kind), to kind of funny. Btw, screaming into the mic and almost blowing the house speakers isn't going to make lousy comedy funny. The funniest part of the night was the two female hecklers sitting behind me. Comics were drinking, including the host, and it showed in the acts. One exception, older black gentleman (apologies, I didn't catch his name) was hilarious. Asian comic was ridiculously racist. This guy's whole act was centered around saying things that if you changed the joke to refer to black people or latinos, he would have had his ass handed to him. After spending the entire night there, even after the headliners finished, (wanting to support the late night comics), my girlfriend and I were accosted by a drunk comic who wanted a picture with us but was too drunk to actually pull it off so we left.
