The dry cleaners next door asked me to get smaller bills instead of paying with a $100. I walked in and asked for change for $100 bill. There were no customers in the bank, Erika the teller told me she would break the $100 bill unless I had an account with them she then said "you're welcome!" I went in with my 11-year-old to open a savings account with a $100 gift he had received to demonstrate the power of savings. The person we opened the account with didn't convey that the fees would be greater than the savings. In fact, she didn't mention the fees AT ALL. Six months later, the $100 is now down to $88. I find it disheartening that this woman, who was probably in her 50s, would do this knowingly to a child who is supposed to be learning the value of savings. I suppose this is a different kind of learning: Don't trust what people are saying with regards to your money. The callousness of this woman to do such a thing for the credit she gets for opening an account is unbelievable. If I could, I would give this bank 0 stars. I will never again bank with them and they know have two kids who for their lifetime will never trust their money with this institution. read more

I have had long and good relationship with Comerica. I was a private bank client and stayed with them after they terminated that division. I did business with the Regional HQ Branch in Downtown San Jose. I now use Aptos Branch now that I spend most of my time here. Aptos Branch has been good but pedantic in their services mostly due to new banking regulations. (my other banks do not make wire transfers so painful.) However, today, I arrived to do a wire transfer. This woman asked me to leave and make an appointment. Never, in over 30 Years and hundreds of transfers, have I EVER needed to make an appointment. Moreover, she was waiting for another appointment that was over 10 minutes late. She called the customer who did not answer and then said she was going to wait another 5 minutes for that customer. I asked her "why not do my transfer and make the customer who was late to wait?" She then got indignant as my questioning her illogic was too close to the truth. Luckily, another employee, jumped in and got the wire done even if in Comerica's DMV Style of getting things done. I have never seen such stupidity and ill regard for customer service. This branch would do well to get rid of this employee and train the staff to get things done in a smoother less DMV manner. read more

Multiple problems with this bank. They either were not telling the truth about their services or they do not have proper training. I joined this bank because I wanted to keep things more local versus big bank. I regret that decision. They charged services that were not part of my contract. When confronted, they said it wouldn't happen again. It did. This was an account for a grassroots non-profit. I hadn't checked it for a while. There were over $150 of service charges. When confronted, they said they could only reimburse a certain amount. Do not trust this bank. read more

I am reviewing this bank not based on banking. The battery in my key FOB died at The Forest of Niscene state park. Someone gave us (myself and 2 kids ages 6 and 10) a ride into Aptos so we could get cell service. We walked to the plaza to buy a new battery at Ace Hardware and call my husband in San Jose to come and help us out. I know it's COVID but Safeway's bathrooms were out of order (I don't believe that) and so we went next door to the bank. Instead of saying, I'm sorry we aren't allowing the public to use our bathrooms, she was point blank about it and not nice. I told her we had had a horrible day and could my child please use the bathroom. She wasn't nice or ... let me check with my supervisor to see if your kid to use it this one time. COVID sucks for all of us, but let's try and be nice and safe at the same time. All my kid needed was to use the bathroom. read more

Do not bank here. They sometimes take 4 entire days to process checks. It's ridiculous

They have messed up weeks of positive planning by insisting to sell me a home equity line. Screwed up on my records, and told me the comfortable monthly income we have as well as owning 2 income properties free and clear as well as being a loyal customer for years was not good enough to get a SMALL equity line approved. again that they so badly wanted to sell me. They have literally demoralized and insulted us. Closing my current account as soon as I can. Over we pay all our dang bills online through them. Totally messed us up! read more

I bank at this branch in particular because of the staff. Everyone here is so nice, no matter who helps me, everyone greets me by my name. You're not just banking here, you're gaining friendships. They are always so knowledgable. Rachel, the branch manager, is always helping the community & the staff won the bowling pin for Bowling for Kids Sake for raising the most money! I had a pretty good experience at this branch compared to my old branch over the Hill. I needed some IRS documents sent from a different branch. The manager there got everything handled, found and corrected a mistake on my account, and I was on my way. But I had forgotten my cell phone. I came back and the manager and one of the staff called all the places I had been to try to find my missing cell phone. Fortunately, I found the cell phone. I appreciated the extra effort by all involved. One strange thing though: the drive up uses old school vacuum tubes???? read more

I bank at Comerica bank in Aptos. I bank there because of the people who work there. The Branch Manager Rachel Hill is always knowledgeable and helpful with a smile. Comerica has a small town feeling where they know you when you walk in and are always eager to be helpful. Ruth the Asst manager will always help and if asked a question she does not know the answer to will find out and call you back to make certain you are completely satisfied with the help she provides. I have been banking with this bank since 1980 but a couple of years ago switched to a different bank for various reasons with the exception of one checking account that I did not use. Statements came once a month that I did not open, since I did not use that account. ......several days ago I received a call from a collection agency that I owed 56.66 on this account. I went to the bank the next day to speak to a manager about the overdraft fees being charged daily ($10.00 being charged every month and once it went in the negative in January, fees were compounded daily). I spent about an hour there with various people discussing what could be done and they concluded I owe 56.66 and was assured I had not been sent to collections. I paid the 56.66, extremely unhappy. The day after that, I received a letter from a collection agency threatening me for the 56.66. I went back to the bank manager and she said "any bank would have done the same" .The manager said she would contact the collection agency and get back to me. It is now a week later and I have not heard a word.. Beware!! It is obvious they do not value their customers! read more
