We were there last night after strolling by looking for somewhere to pop in after leaving Outside Lands, and nothing was open close to were we are, or was dead, as we were walking by we hear DJ'ing and electronic music blaring from a place, was hard to make out were, but we stumble upon a quaint tight hallway-type bar filled with younger people dancing. We, rather reluctantly at first admittedly, decided to pop in to see what everything was all about, while there was no DJ, the bartender said he was using the iPad and Spotify, genius move I felt; whom by the way amongst the chaos was still incredibly attentive while incredibly fast, I look out for these things, no food but there is a great cantina next door that wasn't open, and you can also smoke outside. I look forward to coming back here on a Friday/Saturday, for the DJ. read more

St Patrick's Day, I found myself in the Marina with some old college bros and at some point of the night we ended up back her twice, so it was definitely a good time. I even ended up back here the following night with the another group of friends, who didn't enjoy it as much, but I found a way to make it fun. The first time we arrived it was around 7:30-8ish, and there was no line and we were able to have the place basically to ourselves. We were able to snag a table to sit, chill, and catch up. I ordered a round of drinks and was like damn $117? Didn't think anything of it because hey, it's SF, but it wasn't until I got home did I see on the receipt that '18% gratuity' was added automatically to my bill which was kinda crazy for a bar because we ordered bud lights and seltzers that require little to no bartending skills. On top of that I didn't see that it was included, and their receipts have the suggested tips with boxes you can check. So I ended up tipping out an additional 20% on top of the 18%. Nearly $40 in tips for bud lights and seltzers lol. Lesson learned, always check the receipts and ask if gratuity is included before tipping more than you have to. The crowd is definitely on the younger side for the Marina. As long as there's a dance floor, I'll be cool wherever I am. The DJs were alright. As someone who's been in the club scene, it's all about reading the crowd, and that's definitely something where I think the music choices could improve. Didn't stop me from dancing my heart out all night. It gets tight on the dance floor, so be ready to be shoulder to shoulder with your fellow patrons. Shout out to the bouncers for keeping things in order all night. They were on top of the issues and keeping everyone safe both nights. read more

The DJ on the weekends is usually putting on a pretty good mix of popular rap and pop songs with an occasional house beat thrown in there. Drinks are around $10 each, which is not too bad for the city. Generally young crowd, though the last time I was here there was a strange vibe but good people watching. Kinda empty for a Saturday, so we left after we finished a round. read more

I tried to use the mens restroom and it set the bouncer OFF in a scary way (I am a woman). He got in my face and kicked me out of the bar almost immediately when I tried to ask why I couldn't use this restroom. I was sober, not rowdy, didn't act angry - just startled/surprised. Others have already noted that the bouncer is aggressive and rude but I wanted to specifically share that this might not be a safe place if your gender doesn't match your gender presentation/if you are non-binary, trans, etc. Other notes about this place: The dance floor was busy and people seemed excited to party; the music was okay but the dj kept mixing genres in a jr high dance way that kinda killed the vibe. If you want to dance in the marina on a weekend I recommend finding somewhere with a cover - even $5 seems to make a huge difference with respect to quality of dj, crowd, and staff. read more

I am not one to write reviews, but I am shocked at how horrible the bouncers and bartender were. So many reviews about how aggressive and disrespectful these guys are and they are right. One bouncer went OFF on my friend for standing somewhere she shouldn't, she then moved but hurt his feelings when she called him out for being so aggressive. After that he kept yelling at her and while she was sitting in a seat talking to another friend, he got in her face and yelled at her and tried to kick her out for no apparent reason. She then walked away and the other bouncer kicked out a girl who he thought was my friend based off the first guy's description. (Quite problematic on its own) The poor girl was just dancing with her friends when she was aggressively pushed out of the place and crying. They then made up a whole story as to why they kicked out the wrong girl once realizing it was the wrong girl saying she touched the DJ inappropriately?? Although she was never near the DJ and was just dancing with her friends when the large man grabbed her. All i said was excuse me to one of them and he went off in my face constantly calling me lady and cussing at me and once I called him out for being rude he then kicked me out. The large one was getting in everyone's faces outside and even got in the small girl's face and was yelling at her when she asked for their names. The "manager" who was actually just the bartender came out to calm things down but was just incredibly dismissive. Mind you, I was sober and approached all of these men in a normal, polite way. The manager/bartender then started with the "lady" this "lady" that and was super condescending. He eventually let me back in to get my friend and then we left. I do not recommend this place to anyone, ESPECIALLY women. The men are repulsive and have major aggression issues and love the little power they have in their little yellow vests. They take their jobs way too seriously and like to be scarily aggressive to people. read more

I went here on 7/26 at night and had my entire purse cleaned out on the dance floor. It was zipped and on my body and someone someone managed to slide by me and take my phone & wallet. Over 2k in charges were made on my company card (fortunately I switched off my personal cards in time) the next day at Walgreens and the Apple store. I filed a police report but Comet Club didn't seem to care to help look at the cameras. I've heard that their bouncers are in on this. It's a shame because I love going there to dance, but I can't risk my belongings being stolen again. read more

I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that I am writing my review while still a little drunk from last night. But I thought it would be best to write my review, while it's still fresh in my mind. First off, we had to pay a $3 cover. I know it's only three bucks, but I'm on a budget and that would have been PBR at Buckshot. With that said, I guess we paid $3 for the DJ because he played great music all night. A lot of old school rap and some stuff that is popular right now. A good mix overall. I don't think I would consider this place a "club." More like a bar with a dance floor. It was pretty damn small to be a dance club. The coolest part about the whole place is their photo booth in the back $3 for 6 pics, now that's a $3 I would spend happily. We had some fun with that. This isn't the first place I would think to come to in the Marina and at 11pm it was still pretty dead. But all of a sudden around 11:30 the places was poppin', everyone was dancing and singing and turned into a good time. The drinks were expensive but they were strong. Overall I had a good time here. But I am still a little bummed about the cover charge. read more

3.5 stars! I spent part of my Halloween night at the Comet Club as my friends had rented it out for the occasion... At first, way too many people were being let in at once (though I loved getting instead quickly) and it was too packed to get a drink (took at least 15 minutes!), walk, or even stand. Then, the bouncers slowed the line down and it got more manageable... I have always loved the selection of music here every time that I come. I love that they are one of the only fun places in this area (Marina? Cow Hollow? I never know the difference!) that plays music that is dance-worthy. You can dance just about anywhere in the bar (and on Halloween we were all dancing everywhere!) or on the little dance floor in the back. The Comet Club is a little divey in appearance/layout (not that there is anything wrong with that!) but seems to attract a crowd dressed for somewhere a bit classier. I have also headed between Notte and Comet Club and Notte definitely feels a bit more sophisticated inside... maybe that's why I usually prefer the Comet Club! read more

This is a great bar to sit and people watch at anytime. But, Thursday-Saturday around 11:00 pm, what seems like a dive bar turns into a night club/dance club, with a light show over the dance floor with a live DJ. Needless to say, it's never a dull time at Comet Club. Whether you are looking for a great place to bust a move, chill on plush seats and order bottle service, or just chill at a bar and talk with the bartenders, this is the spot for you. Plus, it's open later than most marina bars, so it's a great for last call! P.S. the bartenders and cocktail servers are extremely friendly and accommodating.
