I called to schedule maintenance, but after scheduling the appointment, I realized my upstairs unit wasn't working. In fact, instead of cooling, my bedroom was getting hotter. He came through as scheduled, conducted diagnostic tests on both of my units, and unfortunately gave me the bad news. He presented some options, and both were costly, but what can you do? The invoice broke down everything he had presented. We decided on a way ahead and scheduled the fix for the coming days. On the day of service, he arrived early and got to work. It took him a little over 4 hours and he explained what he was doing along the way. I'm back in service! Today is expected to be a 90-degree day, it's right on time. Came home from vacation with with an 85F house still trying (in vain) to get to 75F. Walter…read moreresponded to late night Friday request for service and setup time for system checkout Saturday afternoon. Since I was the only one home this weekend I just slept with a fan. In morning I did some online research to see if I could fix it myself sooner. I believe I could have fixed it (I'm pretty handy and have these kinds of tools already) IF I could have gotten my hands on the part I needed for $12 from Home Depot or similar. Amazon delivery was a day or two away. Got a call to say he'd be here in 20 minutes, so I tabled that thought. Walter came and showed me my air filter was dirtier than I expected, so I replaced that on the spot. He then replaced the exact part I was going to (so I was sad I didn't just do it myself, but again it would have been 24-48 hours later to get my hands on it). The compressor should have just kicked in after that but evidently there was a loose electrical connection, which he troubleshot and fixed quickly. Everything fired up and he checked the Freon level, which he said was fine. Cooling is working now as it should be. Walter told me to keep an eye on it and let him know if any other issues come up, as compressor could be damaged from running broken before the fix. Price was reasonable, though not anywhere near what it would have cost for me to fix it myself. But considering it was a Saturday morning (and I started looking for repairs on Friday night) for "emergency service" it was the same as what a competitor was quoting me for service "sometime" on Monday (non-emergency service). So, by this standard, which I suppose most homeowners would use, I judge it to be pretty reasonable. Walter was professional, friendly, and courteous. Only other thing to mention is paying with a credit card is 4% more. So I paid him with a check.

I called at 8am July 4th and left my number. Within minutes, I received a text from Kevin that he was running around but could be to my house by noon. He continued to text throughout the morning telling me of his whereabouts. He arrived at 10 am. The solution was a stuck switch in the attic. He showed my husband where the switch was located, and also told my husband to fix the filter grate to avoid having hot air being pulled down from the attic. I can't thank CPM enough.
