I scheduled an annual service with Greenfox. They came out on 5/6/2026 and performed the service for what I believe was $99. They said everything was good to go - no issues. Two weeks later, on 5/18, the air conditioning stopped working. They market themselves as 24-hour, so I called 5 times that evening. They have a system for screening their calls. I communicated several times that this was an urgent concern, as I have 5 pets who would be intolerant of the 100-degree heat forecast for the following day. Even after dark, my house was 85 degrees. After those calls, I received no calls back. The next morning, on 5/19, I scheduled a morning appointment with Greenfox and then chatted with them via their chat system. The person on the chat assured me that this was a concern. They reported that they marked my appointment as urgent and would register a complaint with the company on my behalf. They assured me that the tech would leave and arrive at my house by 8am. 8am came and went with no call or contact from Greenfox. I logged on to the chat again and spoke with another agent and recounted everything that had happened previously. They said they could do nothing but make appointments on the chat. I said that I did that morning and was told the appointment would be around 8. They said I would have to call the office. I told them that I already had 5 times, and I received no return call. The chat said there was nothing they could do. I then spent time I could have been working calling other companies to try to get service, as the house was getting close to 80 degrees at 9:30 AM. A tech from Greenfox eventually arrived at around 11:15. The company never called me back at all; they didn't let me know he was coming. I received an automated text that the tech was coming 15 minutes after he arrived. He found the issue, which should have been discovered two weeks earlier at the servicing appointment. The tech then left, saying, "I'll send you the invoice." No discussion. The tech then charged us $245 for a problem that should have been caught during the initial service we already paid for. Getting an annual service from this company is useless. It appears they didn't thoroughly review for potential issues, which has left my AC not working on the hottest days of the year so far. There was no consideration on the second bill for the poor work of the technician who came out to service. They don't answer phone calls. They don't call anyone back. They don't let you know a tech is coming. Their chat responses are, at minimum, disingenuous and, at worst, outright lies. And then they still charge you double, even though it was their error. There are far better and more reliable companies in the area, with whom I will be contracting going forward. read more

I have a hot water heat exchanger that connects to my home heating system. It was leaking. It needed to be replaced. Their technician looked at it and said he'd get back to me. Three days later (keep in mind I don't have hot water) I heard from them with an informal quote over the phone: $3100 to replace it. Mind you, this was a simple job with pipe unions right over the unit, so all they had to do is undo the union and put new pieces in the new unit. The whole job, including removal and disposal of the old unit, shouldn't take more than four hours for two guys. The list price of a new unit delivered with state taxes was $1600. I was about to say yes and then... Two DAYS after that conversation, The $3100 number I got over the phone became $4250 in the official quote. No itemization. No explanation. They have wasted FIVE DAYS of my time for this? This was a huge red flag. I don't play games. They can find some other sucker. read more

My parents had no cooling during a recent heatwave, and I called up 3 local contractors, all with good reviews. 2 of them told me that we needed a new replacement right away. They then tried to upsell us on accessories or maintenance plans and also had their sales people call us many times to get us to sign. Greenfox came by and took a little longer on the initial diagnostic call but they found and corrected the issue. Bad capacitor and a refrigerant leak. They said the system was otherwise in good condition. We had resigned to believe that we were going to have to spend around $10k to replace our unit but Greenfox seemed determined to fix the issue instead of quickly concluding on a replacement like the larger chains had. My parents and I really appreciate that we were treated like neighbors and not just a sales opportunity. Kudos! read more

The Worst !! Period !! Had a clogged primary drain on my attic HVAC unit. The system went to secondary drain system. Filled a collection pan and then overflowed. Their tech was called. Came two days later. We had turned off the system while the outside temp was near 100 F. Took tech two trips across two days to clear out drain lines. This is one month ago. Last Friday the same problem occurred. They have no way to contact anyone over the weekend. I left a message with an answering service. On Monday the said a tech would be out in 2 days. Tech came this morning. Spoke to our manager about rust issues in a drain pan. Said would send pictures of the problem. Didn't say what the problem was. No call from their office. No follow up. Completely ridiculous. They have no clue on how to run business in America. Called another company. Had a tech there in two hours. He determined the real problem and will correct it tomorrow. Also said the drain lines have not been cleared and are contributing to the problem. There are much better choices out there if you have to have HVAC work done. The guy told me they will come between 10 am and 4 pm to fix my AC. I took day off and spent the whole day waiting for him. It is deadly hot outside and my house is like an oven. And i did not move out to my parents house waiting for him. He did not show up, O called him at 4 pm and he said he will call me back. After 30 min he called and said that he cannot come today! We hired All American Mechanical after our neighbor used them to install a new AC unit at their home and they had recommended them to us. We had them install a brand-new, complete Furnace and AC unit in our home, which was still utilizing the original boiler system from 1962. This was a huge job requiring the removal of the old system and installation of all new duct work throughout the house. Husain and his team were beyond exceptional and the price was extremely fair for the amount of work that was done at our home. My neighbor recommended All-American Mechanical many years ago when I had issues with my first HVAC. Mr. Ali always was helpful and arrived promptly, and fixed the problems until my heat pump/AC unit finally gave up after 26 years. He and his team installed a new high-efficiency HVAC system in a day and at the original price proposed, even though my old inside unit's location caused more difficulties than expected, and took more time and more parts than expected. He and his team also set up my programmable thermostat, showed me how to change the filters and which ones were best to use (the least expensive, changed monthly, as they don't prohibit air flow). When I decided I wanted a ductless HVAC in my master bedroom so I can sleep comfortably during the hottest summer and coldest winter nights without raising or lowering the temperature throughout the rest of my house, I called All-American Mechanical and Mr. Ali. Mr. Ali and his team installed a new high-efficiency ductless unit in less than a day, even though there were some installation difficulties again due to quirks with my house and the location. They consulted with me if there were questions, and made sure I was happy with any decisions. They didn't leave until they were confident everything worked perfectly, and they made sure I understood how to operate it (of course there is a manual, but it's nice to have a personalized tutorial). In addition, Mr. Ali followed up a few days later to be sure I was enjoying the new unit, and said to let him know if I have any questions or issues. This company cut too many corners to deliver the lower price on my install in 2005. Seven years later I learned just what they did wrong. Their repair methods seems to be geared to derive the most profit for them. They don't give a price up front. They tinker and THEN given you a price. Yes they will come out fast, however I will not call them again. The took advantage of a new parent trying to restore AC in summer for his three week old child. What they did wrong back in 2005: 1)They did such a shoddy inspection. Turned out the reason the prior AC didn't work was because the breaker switch had gone bad! 2)Sold me a 11 seer system but opted for a non TXV coil reducing the overall efficiency of the system (TXV=Temperature eXchange Valve) 3)Neglected to tell me this 11 seer system was using a gas (R-22) that was already on its way out! see: http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/phaseout/22phaseout.html So in 2012, the system stopped working, so I called them again: 1) Shoddy inspection, I was told I had a failed part in my indoor coil. A TXV. Funny they didn't sell me one of those! 2)Went ahead and cleaned up the outdoor coil and charged me money, even though they hadn't addressed the real problem! 3)They disconnected my air conditioning from the power limiting device and never put it back 4)They tried to mix and match my outdoor and indoor coil incorrectly. Possibly breaking the condenser. 5)While replacing that coil, they degraded my gas furnace vent pipes to an out of code state. (They dinged it up and then wrapped it heavily in foil tape. A big no-no.) Gonna cost me $150 to fix. 6)They thought it was necessary to install a p-trap on the primary condensation line even though I have a positive pressure system (fan pushes untreated air past the heating and cooling parts). No harm, but not required. read more

Went above and beyond. Excellent customer service and great pricing. Had our upstairs heat pump installed in December after having the primary unit installed a few years earlier by them. When we went into the cooling season and after BG&E ran a peak rewards system test that failed to reset our unit, something wasn't right. Made a phone call to them and the same day the arrived to reprogram the thermostat at no expense to us. His only request was to share the word that he believes it is not just an installation job but an opportunity to build customers for life, He has one here. The AC is our house died after ~ 20 years in service; and it's obvious to us that it's not worth to repair the ancient unit. After reviewing quotes and talking with several different contractors, both big and small, I chose Mr. Ali and his firm to install the new AC for us, both outside unit and the cooling coil inside. The reasons I choose them are: 1) their quote was among the most reasonable; 2) Mr. Ali's understanding of HVAC system and his answers to all of my 'newbie' questions (I guess you don't get a PE license without deep understanding of HVAC Engineering); 3) They are a small business in our neighborhood; it feels good to support your local firm. Once I signed the contract with them, they installed the AC the next business day and the unit has been working great ever since. And his suggestion of going with a slightly bigger unit, changing from a 3-ton unit to a 3.5-ton, works beautiful for us.
