We stayed for two nights over a long weekend and chose this hotel due to its proximity to Kristi Mountain Sports as well as restaurants. We loved our stay! It was convenient as our sole purpose was to go to the Great Sand dunes and this was a perfect distance. My family loved the continental breakfast each morning and the make your own waffle is always a winning start to the day in my book! The beds were comfortable, the room/bathroom/shower were clean, and the staff were really nice. You can't really go wrong! They also have a pool and whirlpool which we definitely took advantage of after a long couple days of hiking so all in all, 5/5 would definitely recommend and super reasonably priced! read more

I apply the same scale for "luxury" hotels as well as "budget" motels as I stay in all types depending on where I am traveling and the purpose. After cleanliness there is no particular order. 1. Cleanliness. THE ROOM WAS CLEAN. 2. Comfort of bed. THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE ALTHOUGH THE SHEETS HAD SMALL PILLS. 3. Comfort of pillows. Are there both firm and soft available. THERE WAS AN EXCELLENT SELECTION OF PILLOWS 4. How new is the room decor and fixtures. THE DECOR WAS CONTEMPORARY 5. Quality of room. This includes size, temperature, smell, lighting. THE ROOM WAS A BIT CROWDED. THE TEMPERATURE WAS WARM AND THE THERMOSTAT WASN'T WORKING. 6. Quality of bathroom. This includes size, lighting, ventilation. IT WAS TINY. THE VANITY WAS OUTSIDE THE BATHROOM. 7. Bathroom amenities. These include magnifying mirror, presentation, quantity and quality of toiletries. Softness of tissue and towels. NOTHING SPECIAL 8. Friendliness of staff. THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY. 9. Noise. Road noise, adjacent room noise, air conditioner noise. BY 9:00 IT WAS QUIET 10. Price. Was it worth the price I paid all things considered? Between my job site in Del Norte and the Cumbres & Toltec train in Antonito this seemed like the perfect place to call home for a few nights. I would normally stay at the other chain a few blocks away but $50 savings per night added up. Besides, Comfort Inns are usually pretty good. First, the hotel is pet friendly. I know because that's what I was originally assigned. Since I didn't have a pet I didn't want a room that may smell like one. I was assured the room would be clean and smell free but opted for another room on the second floor. That leads to item two, elevators. Yes they have them. I believe that's what separates them from the lower tier Quality Inn. But then there is the room. Clean and a comfortable bed. Otherwise outdated. The wood work has seen better days. The work space is a square table that holds the coffee maker. Outlets to charge things were hard to come by. The shower was ok for water pressure. Just be patient when waiting for the hot water and enjoy it while it's there as it could be gone as quick as it arrived. Last there was the noise. The couple arguing next door, the television or something until midnight and the trucks on the highway. Sleep was hard to come by. In a few days I will have made up for the lost sleep and realize I saved $100 on the stay versus the other hotel. Until then I'm saving this as a Plan B for my next visit. read more

Apparently the use of "comfort" in their name refers to the lack thereof and their non existent a attempts to make it right. We got a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed. The sofa bed's springs were murderous on my back so I explained my situation to the front desk and asked if there was an extra blanket or comforter that I could use to try and make it a little more tolerable for the night. The manager George Lopez was rude and hateful and lazy, he doesn't care about his guests, he would talk non sense to other workers about his guests because we over heard him, he does not give guests privacy I heard him talking bad about guests that were staying there. We felt scared to ask questions about the motel because he was very rude about other things, we also seen him doing drugs in the parking lot. Corporate you need to get rid of this manager George Lopez he is making the comfort inn a place nobody wants or should stay at if he's there. We asked about pool hours and he rolled his eyes while saying "it's on the sign over there..." Just very rude and disrespectful not only to us but we seen him do that to numerous guests. read more

We so enjoyed this hotel on our way to California that we are reserved a suite for a week on the way back home. The accessible room we were in was exactly what we needed. I am wheelchair bound and the shower was perfect. Also there was a hot tub with a lift do I was able to enjoy that. read more

Good quality for the price. Really appreciated the hospitality from each staff member. Everyone said hello and have a nice day each time you passed. The breakfast food was basic and acceptable but nothing superior--was the same all four days of our stay. Nice large area to eat which was helpful since there was a baseball team there. The room was really nice. Had microwave and mini fridge plus big tv and desk with chair. Also had big lounger chair. Favorite thing: 5 pillows on the king bed! I usually have to fight for pillows. Least favorite thing: super thin walls. I was totally awake two out of the four nights because of both stomping up and down the stairs all night long--I even called the front desk which I never do to see if someone could check it out--and I could hear the low din of another room's tv. Ugh. The worst. Also our ac was a little strange. Would blast cold air for a couple of mins periodically. But wasn't terrible since the room tended to get stuffy. Also nice for summertime with a small bbq area outside in back by swing set area. This hotel is the farthest on down the highway from Adam State University but at that you're only maybe 7 minutes away from the school or Main Street. All in all good value, would totally stay there again but would ask for a different room. read more

We had a great stay here, they had everything we needed & more, ice machine, mini fridge with a freezer and a microwave. Big comfortable bed and a nice hot shower. Our room was quite close to people traffic, near one of the side entrances and on the ground floor, it got a little noisy when some kids were coming past but nothing kept us from sleeping well. The breakfast was good. The usual standard hotel breakfast but they seemed to have more options than usual, two kinds of eggs, potato hash, sausage patties and all the breads, cereals, fruit, yogurt etc. Breakfast opened about 6am too so we got up early and got a good start to the day. When we were in breakfast (closer to 7-7.30am) it was starting to get pretty busy but we were fine, we were already done eating by then. read more

I'm very shocked this place rates so high, especially with much newer and nicer paces like Marriott and Hampton just blocks away. I literally chose this hotel based on reviews and my only guess is they cater to a much lower standard of traveler. I even contacted the manager, Joe, before arriving, and he assured me we would have an East facing room and everything would be top notch in regard to cleanliness, pet-free, etc... Upon arrival, the traditional chocolate-chip cookies were not out. Just a few old oatmeal raisin were sitting out. The lobby was almost 85 degrees and almost unbearable just to wait to check in. Our room was West-facing, so the afternoon sun was beating in. There was not any shampoo/conditioner in the room and it is just a run-of-the-mill basic hotel at best. The only good thing is the air conditioned room. Our bathmat had a smashed spider on it and it is certainly not worth $135, which is much lower than usual rates. Again, Choice Hotels perform much worse than the average. I certainly hope I receive at least a 40% discount, as this is not worth more than $70-$80 tops. read more

This motel is as good-as-it-gets when you are not talking about the 5 star-chains in resort locations. It must have been recently renovated throughout the building as well as the exterior and parking lots, which were newly paved. They have even installed a pair of suites (both of which we stayed in -- 2 separate visits, 10 days apart) that include an external walled patio. Mandish Patel has to be the most interested and kindly general manager I have ever run-across, at any price level. (He even carried bags upstairs to our son's room since the elevator was not going into service until the following day.) He called us before we arrived (the first time) when he realized that central-booking had made a mistake with our multiple-room reservation. I have never seen someone be in as many places and do as many things as Mandish. The breakfast facility and food is much better than most I've come across. Everything about this facility was immaculate. I wish I would find a place like this when I am staying in one spot for a week or more!! read more

Newly renovated! My room was finished last week and is beautiful. The bed is perfect and everything is nice, clean and fresh. Best part here is the service - the front desk is honestly the nicest I've encountered in all my travels and was able to suggest great alternatives since the Great Sand Dunes was closed (thanks congress). Had a great experience here. While driving cross country, my boyfriend and I got a flat tire in CO. Alamosa was the closet town I was willing to stay in after looking up reviews on yelp. We got to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms and it was more of a suite. There was a couch and two TVs and I am not exaggerating when I say that the bed was the MOST COMFORTABLE I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN. I actually lifted the sheets to try and find the brand of the mattress - they are specifically made for Comfort Inn. I mentioned it to my boyfriend and he agreed with me. We want one for our house. We didn't use the pool, work out facility or eat at the breakfast, but it is nice that all of those things were offered. We only stayed one night but this was just what we needed after a stressful flat tire experience. The price was right, too. Highly recommend. read more

Room was clean, bed comfortable, pillows very nice, bathroom and towels nice, refrigerator, microwave, plenty of hot water, quiet, after sunset the room was dark, no artificial light from outside. All the makings of a good nights rest. Breakfast was better than average, the only issues is they did not have oatmeal, that is more personal and would say that as a negative. I never "call out" specific people in my reviews but I must say, Mandish Patel was AMAZING! He was the hotel manager and was very helpful with everything from our rooms, our luggage, places to eat/ order in. I would stay at this hotel again but if for no other reason than Mandish Patel. He was so kind and so helpful. It is rare to find this kind of hospitality in the hotel world but he was a 5 star manager! This Comfort Inn is a very well kept hotel. The service is amazing here. We were heading to the Great Sand Dunes National Park to do some hiking, and they offered free breakfast. It seems to be different each day, but we were only there for one night. The breakfast had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties, there were waffles you could make yourself, both standard flavor, and blueberry flavored waffles. There were three different types of cereal, raisin bran, fruit loops, and cheerios. There's apple, and orange juice. Then there's a coffee machine that makes hot chocolate, and two types of latte's (I'm not a coffee drinker so I avoided this machine). Then they have multiple flavors of yogurts. They also have toast, bagels, and cinnamon rolls. The breakfast is just a great treat for when you are heading out to go hiking. I requested a king bed, non-smoking. I arrived, and informed them that I had a pet. They told me I would need to take two queen beds, and that ALL the rooms are non-smoking at the hotel, which is a feature I'm a big fan of. Unfortunately there is an additional cost for pets of $20.00. I'm not sure why there is an additional cost, for when entering the room, I layed down on one of the beds, and my allergies began acting up. There must have been a cat in the room, as I'm allergic to them, but they eventually settled down. I would think for an additional $20.00 per night for a pet that the room would have all the bedding removed and washed. When it comes to pets, there is no grass for dogs, your pet must do its business on rocks. It's unfortunate, because I have an elder dog that doesn't get along too well on unstable ground. I would think there would be some grass somewhere, however the hotel does provide bags to pick up after your pet. The beds are comfortable, however, the pillows on the beds are a bit unconvential. For each person, there are two small pillows instead of one large pillow to sleep on. It's just an odd combination for bedding and pillows. The television in each room is a nice HD LCD/Plasma television. You do receive a multiplicity of channels. The internet is wireless and comes with your stay which is convenient, plus it works really well. The showers are good. The water is consistently warm or hot, depending on your preference. There are good aspects of this hotel, and bad. The bad is primarily related to them being pet "friendly." The other aspect would be that it's a good hotel. The staff, the service, they are all great. The rooms are nice, clean, and well kept. In the end, I do recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area to go to the Great Sand Dunes! read more

Very impressed! I came in late at night worn out from the weather and traveling all day for work and the front desk attendant was very nice and friendly. I explained that I needed to bring in some equipment to keep it from freezing. He made sure that I would have the easiest access. He upgraded my room for free to a suite because it was near the back door and easy for me to get my things inside. Stopped overnight and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean, quiet, and parking is painless. Facility is pet friendly, but we also have a service dog. The clerk was "funny" about the service dog and explained the differences between service dogs and other varieties. One shouldn't have to say more than it's a service dog. We spent a night here recently and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, the attenant provided us complimentary water, gave us a later check-out time, as we needed it and anticipated several of our questions regarding wi-fi and the continental breakfast. We only stayed one night and the amenities were great for what we paid. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but it was a hotel bed, not my own, so no complaints. I would recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay. Alamosa is a small town, so the location was a bit outside of the main strip, but it only takes 4-5 minutes to get to the college and 7 minutes to get downtown. We stayed two nights here and was pleased with the location, staff and breakfast. We really had no complaints except that on the Sunday breakfast, they ran out of food quickly and were slow to replenish. Our other issue was the location of our room. It was directly across from the elevator, ice machine and exit door. Needless to say, early mornings were very loud due to other guests leaving, going to breakfast or getting ice. Rooms were outdated and atrocious for the price per night. Room temperature was either too frickin' hot or too frickin' cold and staff members were awful. Upon check-in, Sharleen (sp?) was a bowl of sunshine...NOT!!!! Giving us attitude was an understatement for this woman! We also got locked out of our room late one night when our key didn't work and I spent almost 30 minutes at the front desk getting it remedied with the young lady on staff who had no idea where the extra "blank" room keys were. I found this place last minute as I was passing through, trying to find a place to stop before heading to the Great Sand Dunes. I have no regrets! The hotel has a pool, workout room, hot tub, free hot continental breakfast, free fruit and cookies in the lobby all day, and the room is amazing as well. The room has a flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, the sink is separate from the toilet and shower, and the beds are not only comfortable but the pillows are different firmness-es (either soft or firm). The Wi-Fi (which is free) is also fast probably because they have seven routers to choose from when you go to use the Wi-Fi. When we arrived at the hotel, the ladies at the front desk were beyond helpful. One recommend that before we headed to the Sand Dunes that we check out Zapata Falls just before the hike and then she and another lady helped my mother and I find a place to eat for dinner. They were knowledgeable about the area and what Alamosa has to offer. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend this to anyone passing through or needing a place to stay on the way to the Great Sand Dunes. read more
