The building is obviously transitioning to a Quality Inn and Suites. Most areas seem to be updated, but a little work remains. We were pleasantly surprised by the huge water slide in the pool. Perfect for entertaining the kids while we did laundry and resupplied between national parks. The front desk staff was super helpful with recommendations of local spots-laundromat, grocery, pizzeria, coffee. The breakfast was the usual fair but could be better stocked throughout the morning. Well guys I'm going to skewer you. The reason? Just not trying very hard to have a successful hotel. Background I stayed here on Feb 2022 with family (and dogs) while enjoying a pleasure trip to the St Luis Valley area. It was winter, it was cold however the reception here was fairly warm. No restaurant, no lounge and some reminisced about a once nice water park addition and talked of the past when this was THE PLACE to book weddings and parties. Not anytime recently apparently. My review and feedback in February was to improve consistency with the rooms, work on getting junk cars gone from the parking lot, work your way out of the transient business while actively courting business travelers, vacationers and other nightly guests. So fast forward 3 months. The vehicles sitting on flats are gone from the parking lot and it was nice to see familiar and friendly faces at the front desk. Transients, loafers and those looking to be down on their luck are still hanging about. The vandalized entry doors (most are shattered) and the lack of security locks catches the eye first. Secondly still not offering so much as a stale doughnut in the morning? Some sort of breakfast is expected in the 2020s. Oh well there is coffee and a little shop offering snacks near the front desk. We can make do, the rate is favorable. Now in May 2022 "my rate" is 85% higher than 3 months earlier. This is the high season. Oh. I have 2 canines again and although not well kept the front vegetated area adjacent to the street suits them. I asked for a quiet room convenient for the pups. Upstairs, yes that's fine. Incidentally room 201 is mine for 3 days. Across the hall guess what..a nice loud family complete with overstressed mother, screaming children and a door that can only be slammed. Long-termers apparently. Quiet? Anything but. I took a few pictures. We all enjoy seeing what that guy is talking about.. Oddest? Nearly no toilet paper, wires dangling from the ceiling where a smoke detector once resided and a glaring hole in the entry where missing ceiling tile lets you see the fossilized remains of a chill water air conditioner system. A relic actually. Someone has gone and broken the back of the bed and although here to enjoy the valley it shouldn't include a mattress that also resembles a valley. Day 2. I return, no maid service, so no toilet paper for a start. I saunter down to the front desk and mention the missed housekeeping service when I asked for toilet paper. "Weekly guests receive maid service on Wednesdays". Yes, but I'm a nightly guest.. The polite young man encouraged me to read a notice on the desk that explained "Due to Covid...". Wait, what, that's over and this is a hotel, not a rooming house...and just who made this decision? Ridiculous! He doesn't know, it's the way it is though. So my mistake is now obvious. This IS a rooming house that will occasionally accommodate a nightly guest, so long as you don't mind the rules put in place for the transient folks. OK, never mind. read more

This is the lowest score that I've ever given to a hotel and still stayed the night there. I can't remember the last time that I stayed at a hotel that did not have a blow dryer in the bathroom or a microwave in the room. They did not advertise these as amenities however we all know that those are standard items in hotel rooms. They do however have on their website that they have a hotel restaurant that offers breakfast lunch and dinner and a pool, as well as other amenities. I took pictures of the website and you can see the date in the upper left-hand corner so you know that it's today, and there are pictures of the restaurant and the swimming pool on the website. I am including pictures that show that neither are here. I walked around the hotel and couldn't find the pool (was told, when I asked that it was "down") and the restaurant is closed. The public bathrooms are padlocked shut, allegedly because people were coming in off the street and using them. The toilet looked filthy and the lights have a layer of dust on the top of them. The ironing board is broken, literally in two. I checked the bed for bedbugs and cleanliness and it seems to be OK. Having driven all day I decided to go ahead and stay the night. This is a great, budget friendly stop! The lady at the front desk was great! I was having a terrible experience and needed a hotel in a hurry, not only did I get a great price for a room, but she managed to turn my mood around, gave me a smile and was truly the bright light of the trip! The room was clean, and the water in the shower was hot! Limited services due to Covid, but that is to be expected. Some remodeling/construction going on, but improvements in progress. Some room for improvement. The exterior is in need of some TLC. However, once inside, it is evident things are changing. Kudos to the owner for concentrating on the amenities travelers seek. The room was clean. The linens crisp. No errant hairs in the bathroom. The air conditioning worked. Inside our room, the appliances still had plastic on them (brand new). It was awesome being able to rest without concerns for safety or cleanliness. Oh, and a great rate -- especially so close to the Dunes. read more

The most redeeming feature of this hotel is Danielle. She was so helpful and always went above and beyond. Now... As for the hotel, it was over 95° all four days we were there. Neither one of their ice machines worked. They have an interesting rock water feature in the lobby, it wasn't working either. The hotel restaurant was closed too. The day we were checking out we spoke to the manager. She told us the hotel has been sold and will be under new ownership soon. That is a good thing, there are lots of things in the hotel that need addressing! The beds were wonderful, very comfy, the A/C worked beautifully! Once we finally got batteries for our remote the room was nice. Huge thanks to Danielle for getting us batteries. The guy working the desk (I think his name was Ben on 7/8 pm.) Was rude and not helpful. The bathroom has a mold problem, it looked like it had been painted over. The bathroom vent didn't work very well. It took 3 days for our swim suites to dry. They weren't actually dry when we left, 3 days after our trip to the Hot Springs. All in all, I would stay here again, preferably in a room without mold. The place has great potential. less than one star. checked in after a long day of driving to find a fully clogged sink. 2 hours of DIY maintenance later (in which we didn't feel comfortable leaving our things in the room, so we had to awkwardly wait), the bathroom was flooded and they "graciously" gave us another room- terrible smell, wouldn't even feel comfortable laying in the bed. My girlfriend and I on multiple occasions approached the desk to ask for some solution. "There's nothing we can do," and when we told them we would not be staying, they refused to refund us, citing they "now had to clean two rooms." Noone has ever cleaned those rooms. This hotel is going through a renovation and uses that as its excuse for everything. We arrived to check in and were dismissed by reception because we are arrived an hour or so early. Then we get to our room and the real issues start. We have no lamp shades on our lamps so you are blinded if you turn lights on or you get to sit in the dark as there is no other lighting. Then we turn on the tv and only 3-6 channels work. The phone doesn't work and is missing buttons. We asked at the front desk and they just said it was part of the remodel and not a problem. They told us they may be able to send the maintenance guy up but he was currently he bartender so he probably wouldn't make it. They were rude and disrespectful. If a remodel is going to occur don't open rooms until they are complete. read more

No manager on a Thursday afternoon before 3 pm. Cost is $77.21 and yes renovations are still being made. No pool. No restaurant. The Managers are David and Abbey. The suite with the nice sunken tub is $110/night. There is a $100 cash deposit required if you want to pay cash. The immediate area is like one big truck stop. With a loaf and jug gas stations up the way, about 200 ft. Cole park is approximately 1 mile south, right off The Rio Grande River. The Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a 25-30 minute drive (160 E to 150 N). Downtown Alamosa has a lively night scene with several breweries, pubs and Woodies bar b-q. Several shops offer a variety of items from home furnishings to gifts. Great place to explore. The high altitude will wear you out, so drink plenty of water and take it easy. read more

Bitchy front desk women. Shabby is a generous term for this place. Restaurant is closed. Continental breakfast is dirty and disorganized. The whole place looks like it's run by meth heads. Weeds in the front landscape parking area. Ceiling is so low I could bump my head. Every carpeted area needed to be vacuumed. No blankets on our beds. Front desk clerk brought up 2 twin blankets, very cheap, for our queen size beds. Dark hallways and stairways. I wouldn't stay in this place again for any price. read more

First of all, I want to say that being in the hospitality business, we prefer to only give great reviews, but this time we feel a bad review is a must to warn people about this horrific establishment. Upon arrival, we noticed how run down the building was, and a few junkies outside, along with lots of poop everywhere, including the laundry facility in the second floor with poop laying there for days. Also cigarette butts everywhere on the carpet in various hallways to rooms. The worse stated about 8 pm with s room next to us slamming doors, a woman yelling "SHUT THE FUCH UP" continuously to her pets and children. We called the front desk, and were told they needed to know which room. So, we got the room #255, next to ours #257, and went in person to the front at about 12:25 am, as we could not sleep after a long day out at the Dunes for a one-night family vacation. The front desk person, informed us that the room with cats scratching through the walls, dogs barking, woman yelling, you g man slamming doors passed midnight was the managers quarters. We were in disbelief to say the least. She was called on speaker phone, as we wanted a refund, not feeling safe with all the drug addicts right outside her hotel room non stop, and she answers, "I am not coming down to talk to these people!" Wow! Finally they offered to move us to another room at 1 am, which was not very clean, and we had to move everything while trying to calm our pet with her dogs barking non-stop. Tb e we need room also had separate beds, which was not what we paid for and requested, but nothing else was cleaned, horrible! Non of the staff worn masks either, a total display of neglect and disregard in the hospitality business to say the least. Again, it saddens us to write such s horrible review, but it truly ruined our vacation as local coloradans. If anyone reading this had basic standards, please stay swath from this pit of dirty, rudeness, carelessness, and no hospitality to offer. It is down right dangerous to stay here. Hope this gets to someone who cares in this company, because the hotel highest in charge is the cause of so much disregard, disrespect, inattentiveness and care for the paying customers. This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The carpet was gross, the sheets were not changed from the last guest, the bath tub was dirty(my son had to clean it), the bathroom sink was dirty. The hair dryer didn't work and there was no remote for the tv's, when we asked for a new hair dryer and remotes it was made very clear that we were a burden to the staff. Customer service is horrible and were very rude when we needed something. We never will be staying there again and you shouldn't either! read more

My family and I had a wonderful stay over New Years! I know I'm a little behind on this review, but I wanted to share the incredible hospitality that we were provided. First off, the manager is a class act that truly was making sure that every amenity that was offered at the hotel was perfect. Free drinks? Check. Free breakfast? Check. Opening the pool for guests even when it wasn't open to the public and making sure the snack area was staffed while we were in the pool? Check and check. My kids loved it, truly ran around like they owned the place. Fun ping pong and games in the big lobby area, and a good restaurant with fantastic service. Seriously enjoyed both nights of our stay! Again, highly recommend! Incredible hotel, very affordable, and very welcoming staff. Would like to send a shout out to the General Manager and staff; you made our New Years with our kids very special and fun! We look forward to staying at the Rodeway Inn soon! Honestly, if I were to be picky, it's an older hotel, with a few scuffs here and there, but the staff made it to where the age certainly wasn't a big deal! 4star rating due to age, 5star rating due to everything else! read more

This place looked like it hadn't been cleaned since before Covid hit. While waiting in line for an hour to check in, multiple people came to say they had no towels. Once we got up to our room, we not only had no towels but no toilet paper. We asked for toilet paper and never received any. Our friend's room had dirt in the tub and no smoke alarm. Horrible. Booked thru Hotels.com for $133 and showed up to a property that was shocking. Exterior: lacked front door signage, all A/C exterior vent units were uncovered and filthy, the entryway was unswept and the garbage can was literally overflowing. Front desk: 4 people, only 1 producing any semblance of customer service. Asked to see the room first because by this time we were highly concerned about cleanliness, attention to detail, and value. Interior: chairs stacked in lobby area, old/dirty (yuck) mattresses, pictures, mirrors, lamps stored for what we now were told was supposed to be a "renovation." The teen that was working the front check-in process took us upstairs to see a "newly renovated room" where we discovered chipping paint, stained ceiling tiles, dirty carpet, blood on the bathroom door, and no room switches for lamps. At this point we had seen enough and the staff was not empowered to refund our online reservation made 45 minutes earlier as we headed into town. Terrible experience and the Rodeway chain should be completely ashamed of the complete lack of standards. We went to the very clean and lovely Hampton Inn down the road for a few $ more, were greeted in a professional, friendly and welcoming manner and are delighted with the room. There is a newer Fairfield and Holiday Inn Express next door here which would undoubtedly be much better options than the deplorable Rodeway. read more

The only reason that they get one star is that my truck didn't get broken in to. The staff was not knowledgeable at all, the rooms were in bad repair, and the place didn't seem very clean. On July 27-28, a group of us stayed here for a family reunion. We had a total of six rooms. We found the hotel to be filthy. The shower in my room only had scalding water so I could not use it during my stay. The bathtub, however, was so filthy that I stayed clear of it anyway. The shower curtain had mildew and the bathroom smelled of urine. There was some gunk in each corner of the bathroom that had probably been there for a long time. Since there were no other hotels available in Alamosa at the time, our whole family was stuck there. I used towels on the bathroom floor and kept my shoes on until I went to bed just so I did not touch the carpet. Stay clear of this place, it is disgusting and as a nurse, I think it is a hazard for children and the elderly who have allergies or sensitivities to mold, etc. read more

My boyfriend booked the place and when we go here I looked at the reviews and some people even said there was bed bugs, which I can believe. Our room smells musty, there was opened coffee packet, there was hair on the sheets so obviously the place wasn't properly cleaned. There's no breakfast, no pool, no restaurant anymore. Where to start? We checked in and were given our room key only to not be able to find our room because there were no room numbers. When a worker saw we were confused, he helped us count to find our room and come to find out, that was the room he was currently painting. We sat there waiting for him to finish trying to be positive but the looks of the lobby alone were telling. After he leaves we get settled and decided to run to the car for the rest of our things. We tried getting back into the room only to find our room keys didn't work. We went to the desk to let them know and the girl was less than impressed. Thinking she'd school me on how to open a hotel room door, she walked us up to our room and tried explaining how a key card worked. I told her I knew how it worked but our keys weren't working. She said, "well how did you get in your room?!" It was open BECAUSE YOUR PAINTERS WERE STILL PAINTING THE ROOM. I get that this is a small town but don't rent out rooms that aren't ready. We decided on this place because it had a pool, restaurant, and bar and come to find out, it didn't have any of those things. I would rather drive however many hours to the next town or better yet, stay at the UFO Watchtower on Highway 17 and be abducted by aliens rather than stay here again. Do yourself a favor and google Fyre Festival and liken that to Rodeway Inn. read more

The staff was extremely rude upon arrival they said we did not have a reservation so we called corporate they were able to find our reservation but had already booked all the rooms. They did not offer to find us another room or absolutely anything. When we went to the parking lot to try n find another hotel they actually called the police on us the police tried to interrogate my minor children while I was in the restroom and illegally searched my vehicle all for no reason when the cops realized what was going on they even scolded the hotel staff for making false accusations. Yet never an apology or nothing I feel they are racists and no one should subject their families to this place. read more

Needed a place to stay just for the day, Dina at the front desk was very helpful & accommodating! I had to pay an extra fee but I know it was a special request so I wasn't upset by it. Great location 30-40 minute drive to the Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve (absolutely recommended making a stop even if its only for a good half hour!!) Decently priced & they take dogs for an extra fee, room was very clean although we couldn't find our remote to the TV but it wasn't that big a deal or I'm sure I could've asked the ladies at the desk for some help. The hotel was very quiet, had a nice snack bar with community microwave. Only negatives: our door lock/handle needed to be tightened or something it was falling apart, had to really give it some help in closing properly from the inside. The common areas are definitely a bit outdated & could use a little more love but I felt the room was welcoming which is more important in my mind. Lastly, checking in took quite a bit longer than in the past at other hotels. Many people kept coming up behind us and the ladies were multitasking, felt kind of awkward just standing there. It's been "under construction" for years now with furniture stacked everywhere in the foyer. The building itself is very run down and dirty. We were wondering around the hotel and decided to play a game of capture the flag in an open event room, with the door open. We were cleaning up when a employee of the hotel tried to strongarm my group into paying $300, the fee for renting the entire space for a day. There was a small drink spill on one tables, which we offered to wipe up, but no. We later went down to the front desk to see what would be charged, and found out the person we had spoken to was the gm and part owner. Still no name. She would not tell us if we would be charged, as she told us she would "let [us] sweat on it for a night" and decide in the morning. Attitude of an establishment starts at the top, and it is apparent that the message is one of entitlement and disregard for customer satisfaction. I will never give my business to these people again, they don't act as if they even want it. read more

The first room they put us in was disgusting, filthy, down a hallway that was frightening to walk through. They moved us to a room that had been renovated already. I was checked in by a boy who asked for my credit card for incidentals and explained to me, "If you smoke, break, or steal anything, we will charge you at least $150." He said it like he suspected I would trash the room (I'm not that kind of person). This isn't exactly hospitality. I checked the room and found the following: torn wallpaper everywhere, no working AC, no window to open for fresh air, the window faces the motorcycle parking lot (the inn was hosting a bike rally and motorcycists hung out outside my door all night. They were loud, showing off their bike engines to each other and telling jokes for hours while drinking, and occasionally tried to see in my room. I asked to change rooms twice but it never happened. Other issues included no hair dryer, cracked lights, damaged curtains, an unclean shower, no housekeeping service, and broken outlets. On night #2, a wedding reception at the back of the building was so loud I could hear their honkey tonk music from the front. I could hear the conversation of guests that sat in the chair next to the window on their phone. I could smell their cigarettes through the poorly insulated sliding glass door (bolted shut). They charged me $74 per night for this dump but it was worth about $10. At least the bed was ok and the weather wasn't too bad; just 90F in the day and 60F at night. When I left, the person at the front asked me to give them another chance. I laughed. The only way of go back is if he handed me free vouchers. I've stayed in huts on the backside of primitive islands that were nicer than this place. read more
