Diamond level here & let me just say I was let down by this platinum location. Since January 2020 I've spent over 400 nights in hotels across all of the lower 48 with what I do for work. Imo this is in no way a platinum level location & for $215 a night wow I was really let down. The staff when checking in didn't say anything about me being a Diamond member ( just a habit of hearing it I guess ) he was very short and to the point. Naturally it was 12:30 am when I checked in. The first room I went into (210) hadn't been cleaned by the crew so I went back and was placed in (209) The room was decent size that had dual queens. The beds were horribly firm. There was a larger than normal tv for these hotels. Shower was decent size but they have hard water so it takes a bit to get that soapy feeling off of u. Breakfast was bla @ best. This is one of the holdouts for giving frozen microwave sandwiches. She said it's a choice brand decision. I said ya whatever I stay @ way too many to agree with u. Overall I was let down honestly. For the price I expected more I guess but I've been to tons of platinum choice hotels & this wasn't even close to what service they offer. Covid I guess has taken its toll here

Broken Door Lock.

I am a disabled, older, loyal Gold Level member of Choice Hotels. I've been staying at this particular Comfort Inn, located in Bangor Maine for years due to its layout and its ease for me in getting around. We generally visit the Bangor area to see my elderly relatives 4-5 times annually and we always stay at this hotel. To say that I have spent in excess of $10,000 in hotel fees at this property over the years would be an understatement. I recently stayed the week of August 11-18, 2022. My first night (August 11th) we arrived around 6 PM and were told that due to a famous rap performer being in town for a show (Pitbull) there were only a few rooms left (costing $400+ for the night.) We were provided a room on the first floor that had a stained table, broken lampshades, a broken front door lock and loads of long black hairs in the shower and along the shower wall (See pictures below.) Hardly what you would expect at this property and at over $400 a night in costs. We asked to be changed, but due to the hotel being near capacity, we were told to try the next day to move, which we did after we spoke to the Hotel's General Manager, Bernerd Cannavan. In addition, we were passed over for housekeeping servicing our room twice within the one week period. Here's where things go off the rails: Once we returned home, Choice Hotels sent me an internal satisfaction survey. I provided a less than stellar review of my experience. A few days later, I received the following email from the Hotel's Manager, Bernerd Cannavan. Dear ______ , Thank you for taking a moment to fill out this survey regarding your experience at our hotel. I am deeply saddened to see you scored us so low again, as I personally made sure to attend to your needs and work with you to make sure you had an enjoyable stay. I understand not everything was perfect but we did try to make sure everything was resolved in the moment. As much as I appreciate your business, I believe our differences are too large to reconcile at this point and must ask you to stay elsewhere when in town. Thank you for your understanding. Regards, Bernerd Cannavan General Manager Comfort Inn, Bangor 2079900888 Since when does an honest review of my less than satisfactory experience in a substandard, expensive hotel room lend itself to having my evaluation held against me ? I have now been designated by Mr. Cannavan as a "do not rent" customer as a result of my review. Its also now obvious that this General Manager apparently only wants to hear good things about his hotel ? Is it now the standard practice of Choice Hotels to discriminate against older, disabled guests because they provided honest assessments of their hotel experiences ? I spoke to a rep from Choice Hotels Customer Service (Jonathan) who was shocked at what has transpired due to my review of the property. I have also tried to resolve this issue with Bernerd Cannavan directly and my contact attempts (telephone and email) have been ignored. A word to the wise, watch how you rate this hotel. You may end up like me barred from staying again by The General Manager for simply being honest

For a hotel complimentary premade breakfast, theirs was excellent and one of the best we'd ever had. Lots of bacon. They had a very cool touchless pancake maker. Cons: The décor is very dated - we stayed on the 3rd floor that was decorated with a long row of first lady photos along both sides of the corridor hall - honestly it felt like something out of the Shining. There were odd sinks in the hallway near the elevator. The ice machine on the 1st floor was great but the ice machine on the 3rd floor didn't work and on the 2nd floor did not produce a lot of ice. The spa is tiny and no children allowed and the swimming pool is not connected to the hotel but in the parking lot. We wish they'd start the breakfast at 6am on weekends - we had an adventure planned so we had to leave at 7am when the breakfast just opened so we missed that morning. Keep perspective - this is not a posh modern hotel. Once you get used to its oddness, the hotel is a good, more affordable place for a good night's rest. We needed a hotel in Bangor ME for Labor Day Weekend - we checked the major chain hotels and the prices were all super expensive as it looks like they doubled their prices for the holiday weekend. Best Western White House Inn was the most affordable of what we could find. We noticed when we google mapped the hotel location, it was listed in Hampden ME as they are closer to Hampden but the Bangor address must be more desirable.

The perks for being a member of Best Western were better than most other BW hotels as well (fresh baked cookies, waters and mints in the room). It was quiet even though it was right off the freeway. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

I cannot speak to the restaurant for dinner but breakfast was good but standard for a Garden Inn. Housekeeping did a good job with requests for towels and such. Definitely one of the nicer Garden Inns I've stayed at I am frequent traveler (weekly) and Diamond member I would recommend this property and would stay here again.

This year, we paid the extra $30 to stay at the HGI (plus another $30 for breakfast, which is free at the Hampton). There were a number of minor disappointments at the HGI but nothing compares to the lack of hot water for a shower in the morning, which is baseline to call yourself a hotel. There's nothing quite like a cold shower after a bad night's sleep. Minor disappointments included that there was nobody at the front desk when we tried to check in at about 6 p.m. There was no bell and after 10 minutes of waiting we had to let ourselves behind the counter to knock on the manager's door. It was also really noisy - sound insulation is terrible, particularly from the hallway, which was a behive of squabbling children and teenagers and banging doors all night long. The toilet was mal-adjusted (the float was set above the fill tube) until I fixed it at about 2:00 a.m.

Staff is always friendly, willing to help and always greet you when you come into the lobby. The continental breakfast is a big reason why I choose Hampton along with the more affordable accommodations compared to other Hilton brands. The experience was no different for the Hampton Inn and Bangor with the exception of the wait time to get our room. Check-In is as 3:00pm and my family and I were not able to get into the room till 4:00pm. I am a Hilton Honors member, checked in the day before and despite all that effort spent an hour in the lobby area waiting for the room to be ready. Non-Hilton members were walking into the lobby whose rooms were ready. I know this because the front desk staff asked them if they would be interested in becoming members during their check-in process. We eventually got up to around room 1 hour later, but only because I got notification on my phone of my digital key being ready. The staff was not the one's who notified us. When I provided my feedback in their email survey, I got the typical response that said sorry and they hope we give them another chance, but my feedback will help improve. They did nothing to compensate me for the 1 hour less of room time I got but paid for. I can empathize with businesses who are short-staffed and the difficulty of hiring quality individuals to fill key customer-facing roles or support staff who make up all the other departments who make a business like a hotel function from day-to-day. I work for a bank, and we too have difficulty hiring quality talent or those willing to go above and beyond just the expected responsibilities.

We were very tired and pretty much crashed when we got here. But, the next morning on our way out of town we stopped off at Stephen Kings house (about 5 miles away) for pictures. That was a highlight. Then we stopped off at an old bakery and convenience store in Brewer, just down the road a couple of miles. On our way back out of Canada we booked this hotel again. It is one of the cheapest of the Hilton family in the area and we actually booked the same room again. This time I was a little more alert and noticed that they had Netflix! After traveling for almost 3 weeks I was having a little Netflix withdrawal. I got excited and my husband, who had a restaurant picked out for dinner laughed and said "I guess that means we're eating pizza in tonight". YES! This is one of the nicer Hampton Inns we have stayed at. It has a walkin shower and a higher toilet-both helpful when you have an injured hip and knee. The breakfast were good too.

For timing alone, it earns its keep. Beyond that, the property shows some wear. The walls are thin enough that you'll hear more than you'd prefer -- including your neighbor unzipping their suitcase, which is not exactly the ambience you hope for when trying to sleep. I wanted there to be more employees.
