I'm a Diamond member and this is one of my favorite hotels to stay at when I travel for work. Very convenient location, not loud at all considering it right on an on ramp. Room was great and clean! Bathroom was big and comfortable. Home made Cookies at night is a really nice touch! Staff is always friendly. They have games available to play if you wish. The workout room is great and more than enough equipment. Breakfast has a great selection of food! Will continue to stay here. Prices are what to expect when in Bangor but if there's a concert in town, prices go up dramatically so be aware when booking. read more

Diamond level here & let me just say I was let down by this platinum location. Since January 2020 I've spent over 400 nights in hotels across all of the lower 48 with what I do for work. Imo this is in no way a platinum level location & for $215 a night wow I was really let down. The staff when checking in didn't say anything about me being a Diamond member ( just a habit of hearing it I guess ) he was very short and to the point. Naturally it was 12:30 am when I checked in. The first room I went into (210) hadn't been cleaned by the crew so I went back and was placed in (209) The room was decent size that had dual queens. The beds were horribly firm. There was a larger than normal tv for these hotels. Shower was decent size but they have hard water so it takes a bit to get that soapy feeling off of u. Breakfast was bla @ best. This is one of the holdouts for giving frozen microwave sandwiches. She said it's a choice brand decision. I said ya whatever I stay @ way too many to agree with u. Overall I was let down honestly. For the price I expected more I guess but I've been to tons of platinum choice hotels & this wasn't even close to what service they offer. Covid I guess has taken its toll here read more

I was disappointed driving in on my vacation to a "strip mall" looking environment. Didn't have grand aspirations having selected an affordable, chain lodging option, just being honest. However, this was a great one night stay. Bed was decent. They provided warm, fresh baked cookies at the desk in afternoon, Little nooks with fireplace, family board games, outdoor fire pit. I am a disabled, older, loyal Gold Level member of Choice Hotels. I've been staying at this particular Comfort Inn, located in Bangor Maine for years due to its layout and its ease for me in getting around. We generally visit the Bangor area to see my elderly relatives 4-5 times annually and we always stay at this hotel. To say that I have spent in excess of $10,000 in hotel fees at this property over the years would be an understatement. I recently stayed the week of August 11-18, 2022. My first night (August 11th) we arrived around 6 PM and were told that due to a famous rap performer being in town for a show (Pitbull) there were only a few rooms left (costing $400+ for the night.) We were provided a room on the first floor that had a stained table, broken lampshades, a broken front door lock and loads of long black hairs in the shower and along the shower wall (See pictures below.) Hardly what you would expect at this property and at over $400 a night in costs. We asked to be changed, but due to the hotel being near capacity, we were told to try the next day to move, which we did after we spoke to the Hotel's General Manager, Bernerd Cannavan. In addition, we were passed over for housekeeping servicing our room twice within the one week period. Here's where things go off the rails: Once we returned home, Choice Hotels sent me an internal satisfaction survey. I provided a less than stellar review of my experience. A few days later, I received the following email from the Hotel's Manager, Bernerd Cannavan. Dear ______ , Thank you for taking a moment to fill out this survey regarding your experience at our hotel. I am deeply saddened to see you scored us so low again, as I personally made sure to attend to your needs and work with you to make sure you had an enjoyable stay. I understand not everything was perfect but we did try to make sure everything was resolved in the moment. As much as I appreciate your business, I believe our differences are too large to reconcile at this point and must ask you to stay elsewhere when in town. Thank you for your understanding. Regards, Bernerd Cannavan General Manager Comfort Inn, Bangor 2079900888 Since when does an honest review of my less than satisfactory experience in a substandard, expensive hotel room lend itself to having my evaluation held against me ? I have now been designated by Mr. Cannavan as a "do not rent" customer as a result of my review. Its also now obvious that this General Manager apparently only wants to hear good things about his hotel ? Is it now the standard practice of Choice Hotels to discriminate against older, disabled guests because they provided honest assessments of their hotel experiences ? I spoke to a rep from Choice Hotels Customer Service (Jonathan) who was shocked at what has transpired due to my review of the property. I have also tried to resolve this issue with Bernerd Cannavan directly and my contact attempts (telephone and email) have been ignored. A word to the wise, watch how you rate this hotel. This place was fantastic. Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Great bathroom. In-room coffee, fridge, and microwave. Large TV. Comfy pillows. We arrived at the beginning of a winter storm and were delighted to find a smokers' hut right next to the door at the end of our hallway. Enclosed except for a small doorway and with a bench and a heater. Only complaint, there was no ashtray or butt can so the extinguished butts were on the ground. Highly recommend. read more

Stayed here for 2 days no problem. There's a wendys, starbucks, and mexican restaurant right next to the hotel. The room was nice and large, internet worked well. Bathroom and water worked good. Room had fridge and no problems. Hotel is near freeway and driveable to mall, cinema and other restaurants. It was 16 degrees when I was here so its cold. The staff was friendly. My son and his friend attended the Impact Festival. Mind you I'm an overprotective mom, so having my 19 yr old son who's never been 5 hours away from home ever, I was very nervous. This is a solid Comfort Inn but nothing more. We went based on the high ratings and it was everything a Comfort Inn should be but that was it. Breakfast was mixed, one day the breakfast meat was scary, the other day it was tasty. Hotel was clean but location was a few stops away from the city center in a mall that is on life-support. Let's start at the beginning shall we? They let me check in early, and were very nice to me. YAY! The room was clean. YAY! Clean, yes, but run down looking, especially when it came to the walls. BOO! The Bathroom was much more updated, and quite nice actually. YAY! The side door, which according to the sign next to it was supposed to be locked at 11, never got locked after 11. BOOOOOOO! The breakfast had a waffle iron (YAY) and a good selection (YAY), but the coffee was medicore at best (BOO) and the pastries were kind of gross (BOO) except for the coffee cake which was awesome (YAY), but they didn't have that every day (BOO) The beds were awesome YAAAAAY! read more

We loved the front desk guy who checked us in, the cheese & crackers & pepperoni set out for cocktail hour, and the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies put out after 8p (with milk)! The beds were soooo comfy, room decor was sleek and excellent. You even get a choice of 2 pillow types...BOTH soooo comfy too! Convenient to shopping, bars, restaurants. Speedy express check out! The hotel is very clean and the breakfast is nice. There is s'mores on Saturdays. The only problem I had was with Sarah and the woman from Utah. They didn't want to be informed that the information shared with guests about the 10% discount doesn't apply to everything at Las Palapas. Las Palapas is the Mexican restaurant across the parking lot. I was cordial when I shared the discount info with them and the woman from Utah interrupted me mid-sentence. So nice we stayed twice! Once on the first night of our road trip and once on the last night on our return to Canada. Our room was very clean both times and the bed comfortable. This hotel is an old building (used to be the Hampton Inn) but it changed owners and is nice again. Since this is an older property there were a couple of minor maintenance issues on our second night's stay that I mentioned to the check out staff in the morning. The front desk attendant thanked me and put marked them down to pass along to their maintenance staff. Breakfast was great - the best staff member we encountered was a lady working the breakfast room both days we were there. I believe her name may have been Tammy? She was a busy little bee - running around making sure everything was well stocked and clean as can be. She also seemed to be well liked by her coworkers who were in/out and greeting her. And they had bacon! This automatically makes the breakfast better than other hotels! This will likely become our new hotel of choice in Bangor where we used to stay at another hotel away from the mall. Very close to BAM - a great bookstore as well! read more

It has taken us quite a while to get to writing reviews of a trip we took in October of 2016. We took a road trip from Portland to Bangor via the Central Coast. Our first day in Bangor was drawing to a close, and we were without a place to stay. We stopped by the Bangor Mall for wi-fi, and lucked into a room at the Comfort Inn through AAA. The young man at the desk, Trevor, was very helpful. We came in with questions about two things that were on our mind: dinner, and Stephen King. The young man was very pleasant, telling us a brief story about how his friend would see Mr. King when jogging through the neighborhood, as well as explaining about sights such as the Thomas Hill Standpipe and the King family home. He also provided us with two great suggestions for dinner; these two suggestions were so enticing that we had to go to one for dinner and the other for a dessert! Trevor appeared genuinely interested in sharing a little bit of his lovely hometown with us, and we appreciated our interactions with him. The accommodations were on par with what you'd expect from a Comfort Inn, and the continental breakfast was as you'd expect. I remember that the dining area was particularly clean and that the array of fountain drinks was probably the best of any of the chain hotels on our Maine trip, but the service really set the Comfort Inn apart. If we're ever in the area again, we'll check the availability here, even though I am sure their staff will have turned over by then... as is the nature of the hospitality trade at national chains. read more

Clean comfortable and accommodating! I booked online the day of stay. They were ready for me and had all of my questions answered before I needed to ask. The room was exactly what I wanted and more. King room with pull out couch was immaculate and nicely decorated. Had all the channels I wanted except Hallmark. Free wifi was a great plus. The bathroom was clearly well cared for. sometimes of review the special five star one can be all about the people that work there. in fact this one could be one of those and it would be true. the gentleman on the swing shift roughly working from 2 or 3 to 10 or 11 pm are amazing there was one gentleman working today the 11th and two days before on the 9th. and then a gentleman who works the midnight shift till morning who I see at least Thursday Friday Saturday night. they are so helpful and so awesome that I would give this place a 5 star rating just for them. and you know I might give 5 stars simply for the breakfast every kind of bread muffin everything imaginable multiple kinds of coffee hot chocolate every juice you can think up everything including hard-boiled different types of butter and even my absolute personal favorite the waffle machine that makes two different types of waffles daily... And everyday there are fresh homemade biscuits and there are eggs or omelets or sausage or bacon or something... and then you'd have to get 5 stars for the meats cheese pepperonis and crackers at 5 o oh my goodness oh wow the fresh baked cookies at 7 pm and the milk cuz of course you gotta have the milk... basically everything is worth a 5 star rating at this hotel... but absolutely 100% this service you get at the hotel. I'll even say that I dropped $0.53 on the floor when I was changing and when I came back from work and the room had been clean that $0.53 was sitting on my very clean almost immaculate table... by the way at the time I posted this message one of the gentleman was working that I had mentioned for the swing shift. read more

This was one of the nicest budget hotels I've ever stayed at. Lively, helpful front desk staff, nice beds, and my personal measure of a decent hotel- doors that close tight with no hall light around the edges. The breakfast was quite extensive given the room rate. Fresh waffles, yogurts, excellent fresh fruit salad and fruit bowl w bananas, apples and oranges. Multiple bread, muffin and sweet options, eggs, meat, juices, drinks and an extensive array of condiments. The hotel puts out cheese and crackers in the evening, cookies and milk at night, and offers a shuttle to the city attractions. Beds were comfortable, room was clean and sufficient. All the guests I met seemed happy. No in room fridge. I can recommend this particular hotel quite highly. read more

We had a great stay here on August 8, 2017. Easy access to I95 after a long day of driving. Check in was very friendly and smooth and the room was tidy, clean and quiet. Super comfy bed and a reasonable breakfast. I asked on of the breakfast attendants if they had any ceramic mugs for the coffee and she made a special trip to the staff room to get one for me. Awesome service! We got a decent AAA rate as well. I'd definitely recommend! read more

I booked this hotel through Hotwire without knowing what hotel I was getting. It is listed as a 2.5 star hotel but really I think it deserves higher. I have stayed at other hotels in the are that were considered 3 star that pale in comparison. The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice. In addition, this hotel offers some free perks which makes this hotel even better. In the evening they offer cheese, crackers and pepperoni to snack on and then at night offer milk and cookies. In the morning, they offer a free deluxe (eggs and bacon in addition to the norm) continental breakfast. It is also in a good location in the middle of Bangor next to the mall and other shopping. I only have one complaint and it has nothing to do with service or cleanliness. The bed was overly soft and I had a hard time sleeping on it and woke up with my back hurting. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return. read more

The comfort inn was a lovely surprise! We walked in late at night and they had rooms for us at an affordable rate. Our rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. We were able to get a good nights sleep after hours of travel. And the complimentary breakfast was great! I'm not usually a fan of these breakfasts but the comfort inn really stepped it up with fried eggs and bold coffee. read more

Found this gem of a hotel on priceline while heading up for a visit to University of Maine, and let me just say, I will be returning to this hotel if i am ever in the Bangor area again. While in route to the hotel, I missed it and ended up on i-95 again, which from appearance is really easy to do. The hotel appears to be recently updated, which was great...especially for the price we got it at. The bed was comfy, room clean, and the breakfast was awesome. Waffles, eggs, yogurts, cereals...great way to start off your day with their continental breakfast. Also, complimentary crackers and cheese served in the afternoon, and fresh baked cookies and milk served in the evening. Front desk staff was really friendly and personable as well. We stayed here 3 nights and felt very comfortable....also we made use of their exercise room. Their exercise room was average when compared to other exercise rooms at other hotels and gets the job done. read more
