This hotel is a solid 3, not the best but also not terrible. The beds are fine, but I did toss and turn for a good while before falling asleep. I don't know if I just couldn't get comfortable or if it was the air conditioners fault. It literally made the most obnoxious sound all night. The bathroom though was spacious and clean. A definite downside for me was the gym. It only contained two treadmills and a bike, nothing else. Even the most base of hotels have at least a yoga mat and a selection of weights. read more

It is an older well maintained hotel. The airport flight path is about 150 ft above the hotel. Breakfast was decent but minimal.

We stayed at Hyatt place in Portland Maine before we visited here and we enjoyed Hyatt so much but was so disappointed here. The sheets were polyester and the room has a funky smell, and the hotel is located near the airport so the night gets pretty loud from the outside noises read more

My room was superficially cleaned. It looked like no one has bother to do a good cleaning in a long time. Lots of dust found - see photos. Remote was also a bit grimy. The window to my room was really dirty - see photo. I was impressed by the breakfast offerings though. Hatch Chile/egg/bean burritos, spinach Florentine tartlets, boiled eggs from a place in MN etc. Wish they didn't allow large trucks to park in the entrance way blocking one. There were two. There were also commercial trucks park close to the building. At 6am, many started idling and I could feel the vibration in my room and they were loud. I went out to my car and the diesel fumes were bad. The location is ugly - between the highway and a busy road. read more

Small lobby, very small lobby the pics online and at the yelp page are very deceiving. They have free parking and that is awesome as always. They are located super close to the airport about 5 minutes that is super convenient. The staff is super friendly and I need to mention that this was the ******first time ever that I was asked if I had a floor preference I feel the love for sure!! ***** need to make sure that u see this cause I loved that attention to detail and customer care. They have complementary breakfast, cookies and coffe things 24 hours. Absolutely love the smart tv in the room and love the room size. They have a small gym, not much equipment, 2 treadmills one bike and some weights with one bench only. Their pool is indoors, I saw that it was pretty busy, nothing crazy but I never seen the pool area empty. This hotel was busier than I expected when I was here, specially for where it is located but more power to them. The rooms are good, the bed is amazing, the bathrooms mirror was a bit mean to me, the glass of the mirror can get u a little sad with your figure but overall it was a good too. Very adequate accommodations near the Bangor airport. Also near the I95 freeway. If you're on your way to Canada from the mid-Atlantic region (as we are), this is a good place to overnight on the way. Courteous front desk, adequate parking. Although it is beside the airport, it's a quiet property and we didn't have any problems sleeping. Breakfast was adequate - plentiful and filling. The breakfast room was bright and clean. Fairfield Inn is completing an extensive renovation. I was able to receive one of the updated rooms and found it to be very comfortable. The lighting was sufficient and there were plenty of outlets. They did a nice job updating the showers and bathroom. My one complaint was with the renovated room I seemed to have an old gurgling air condition unit which was a distraction. The construction is pretty extensive so you have to dodge closed entrances etc. Staff were very friendly which made the visit better even with the construction. read more

This is the second time staying here and I really like this place. First the room was clean and modern. The pool area and hot tub were great. The breakfast was excellent just what I wanted good OJ, scrambled eggs, and sausage. Tried the choc chip muffin it was like eating lead so I passed in this. Very friendly staff and very clean. If you are looking for a quiet, top notch place to stay-this isn't it. I looked and could not find anything higher than a 3 star hotel in the Bangor/Orono area so we chose this place as they allow pets and we travel with our elderly Chihuahua. I want to start by saying every staff member we encountered was helpful, polite and generally lovely to deal with! I realize this is near an airport and also a busy road but I think it may be among the loudest hotels I have ever stayed in. From slamming doors to a vacuum in the hall way at 6am (bashing into walls the whole way) to people knocking repeatedly on other doors in the hall- you could hear everything as though it was in the room with you. The room was spacious and I would say adequately clean. Not immaculate but adequate to spend one night. I am, however, very confused why I am asked to pay a $50 fee for my dog who literally sleeps in her bed and comes with us everywhere in a place where cleanliness is not really a priority? I mean when we are in a gorgeous hotel I know the fee goes to make extra sure the rooms stay up to snuff but this room was not at that level at all! There was hair(not ours!) In the bathroom upon our arrival and the cobwebs/dust was caked on the window. There was what I hope was coffee splashed and dripped down the wall behind the Keurig...I am just saying my dog did not do anything that warrants a $50 fee in that place. If anything her paws were dirtier having been in that hotel. But, I digress. Another thing to note is that they do not have a utility/maintenance elevator so several times we had to wait while someone with a large cart or staff were using the elevator. Not convenient when we were trying to leave with all our bags and a cooler. I realize it is a 3 star economy hotel so some of these things are to be expected- I guess I just didn't expect it from the reviews saying how clean and great everything was. At the end of the day we will likely stay here again if my son chooses to go to UMaine..and that is okay, I will know what I am in for now and will pack ear plugs! read more

Entered room and smelled smoke. Called desk and they said they would spray room. Wasn't willing to move us. I had them spray it again and still no good. I stayed there for an Acadia NP trip for two days. The overall experience was just so-so. The location is great, but there is not a clear enough sigh for me to find the hotel. The overall cleanliness in the public area is good, and the hotel has a really great pool. The King-suite room is great, but the house-keeping was not doing a great job. **Conditioner was empty, body wash was empty, facial tissue was almost gone, the bath towel was dirty, and there's some hair on the bed.** Although the front desk gave me the conditioner and facial tissue, they did not offer any compensation. Also, although the hotel offers complimentary breakfast, most of the food is empty half an hour before the breakfast time ends. read more

Fantastic budget type hotel in a convenient location. The service was great and they had all the amenities we needed. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom had an awesome shower. We were early to breakfast so there were plenty of options all grab and go/ single servings and the breakfast room was set up nicely if you stayed to eat... There's a nice big parking lot that was well lit and easy to get around. We will definitely stay here again if we're in Bangor! read more

Stayed here last night after a great concert at the waterfront. When we checked in, the front desk service was great .. Very attentive and very friendly and helping us with any questions from some of our "out of towners". After a great opening act for the hotel, it is important to recognize the cleanliness and well kept amenities here with this hotel ... In the Bangor area outside of the brand new ones at the mall clean and well kept hotels are hard to come by. The room was well kept and you could tell how they are paying attention to the rooms and are very responsive to any of the requests from the patrons (we had 8 people staying at the hotel and all stated their stay was great. I will definitely come back to this hotel and I guess you would need to expect that when it comes to the Marriot line of hotels but I have frequented a couple other ones and they really weren't up to the Marriot par. 5 stars indeed for free Wifi pool and gym room also to get those steps in!! read more

We were only here for one night, and overall it was a good stay. The room was clean, appeared recently renovated, and the bed was super comfortable. My only complaint is that we booked direct and requested the highest possible floor, but when we checked in, they said "great, you're on the first floor." Confused, we asked if there was anything higher (as we previously requested), and they gave us the second floor. We did check in around 8pm, so I normally understand first come first serve, but they called us around noon that day to confirm that we were still coming and we said yes. I was hoping that as a member who has pre-paid AND confirmed they'll be there, you'd honor what they requested. Thankfully the people above us were quiet so it didn't end up being an issue. read more

Made a reservation for $130 for a room with two double beds. Location is easy to get to with lots of parking and check in was easy. The property seems to be recently remodeled and all the curtains, carpets, beds, and TV's are new and modern. The beds are very firm and supportive but only have three pillows each, we found another in the closet. The TV is a fairly small 32" LCD. WIFI was easy to sign into with good signal, and was fast at check-in but really slow after dinner. The pool was nice, a bit cold, but the hot tub was nice and hot. It doesn't bubble though. The pool area is open late but this seems to be a popular hotel with families so there were lots of kids and parents here. The reason I'm only giving 2 stars is the breakfast area, it's an utter disaster. It's tiny, there is no obvious place to start or finish, and no semblance of order. What I thought should be the start of the line, because the plates were there, is a waffle maker, where the line backs up. You have to break through that group of people to grab a plate. Don't bother looking for napkins there though, because they are elsewhere. Cream cheese for the bagels is located...not near the bagels. This area needs to be completely rethought, and remodeled. It shouldn't take an hour to complete a "continental" breakfast. read more

I got here after travelling for long hours all day and was really exhausted. The hotel looks okay, the elevator had dirty carpets. There were children running around the hallways. We requested a quieter room and just shortly after settling in we heard children screaming and running in the hallway..ignored and went to sleep. The breakfast was just okay but the cake tasted weird because it was old. The lady offered chocolate muffins but no different. They also didn't have a microwave and a coffee machine in the breakfast room so had to get it from the lobby. The rooms were also old and same goes for the beds. Had much higher expectations from Fairfield inn by Marriott. Have stayed in their other hotels but have experienced better as well..considering the price I paid them. read more

I was only here one night but my stay here was good. Staff was courteous and check in was super easy. The one thing I was not impressed with was when I asked them to bring a roll away to my room they didn't give me us any extra pillows. When I called down to ask for one I got told that there were enough pillows on the bed for us to be able to share one of them. I have never been to a hotel where when I ask for an extra pillow I essentially get told no. About 5 minutes later the front desk person called our room and said that he would bring a pillow up to the room. The only thing that I can think of is that he looked at my file and saw that I was a Marriott rewards member and decided to bring up and extra pillow. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights while we toured the University of Maine with my son. The front desk staff was nice and if you see staff in the hallways, they always say hello. I have to say, this was one of the dirtiest hotels I've stayed at in a long time. The rooms need a deep cleaning. Everything was so dusty and when I pulled the curtains open, there was caked on dirt and cob webs all over the windows. Breakfast was somewhat edible; however, the sausage was burnt to a crisp. The Fairfield Inn was really wonderful to stay in. Stayed at this one for 5 nights while up in Maine last week on vacation while visiting friends and family. The customer service was great. Customer Service Agents always were helpful in getting what ever you needed or knew most everything when you had questions. I always usually stay in Marriott Hotels or Hilton Hotels when traveling. The Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Bangor next to the airport was handy to some restaurants and gas stations & only a few mins away from other good restaurants via 395 and 95. read more

Black Friday shopping has been a tradition in my family since I was a teenager. This year my mother and I turn three teenage girls to Bangor for their first experience. I hadn't stayed at the Fairfield Inn for quite a few years but when I priced it out the Fairfield Inn rates were VERY competitive. The people booking the room were great and helpful. After shopping from midnight to about 6am we adults had wore out the kids and they were falling fast. We reached out to the hotel and they were more accomadating. They let us in early and when we got there had the got already in the room and even offered us use of the breakfast. Friendly is minimizing how helpful the people there were. The rooms were clean and comfortable even though a little oudated and could use a makeover. I was surprised the rugs had NO odors of mildew or just being old. The pool was and clean and the hottub so relaxing after a long day of shopping. I even found the chairs at the pool so comfortable I found myself taking a nap in them. We did use the sauna and enjoyed it and even though we did not use the workout room it was very clean and up to date. When we left I forgot my hat and when I called and came back they had it waiting for me with a huge smile on their face greeting me even after I was no longer a customer.
