We stayed at Comfort Inn in Newport for a short rest, and I'm really glad we chose it. The room was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed, including a microwave and refrigerator, which is always a plus. Breakfast was served until 9:30, and even though we arrived right at that time (traveling with a 2-year-old makes mornings unpredictable), it was still available, which I really appreciated. Small detail, but it meant a lot. I also used the laundry room, which was convenient during our trip. The only downside was the bathroom -- the drainage was very poor, which definitely needs improvement. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay with just one issue. read more

My only complaint is the AC doesn't work and opening the windows work, if you like to be serenaded by seagulls all night. Wouldn't be my first choice, but would stay again. read more

Solid Stop, Just Fix the Shower Needed a quick overnight while traveling and Comfort Inn delivered. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the staff was genuinely friendly -- no complaints there. Breakfast was a nice touch too. The one thing that stood out negatively was the shower -- low pressure and slow drainage made it less enjoyable than it should've been. stayed here 10/31- 11/2. It was pouring rain outside and the water heaters for the whole building broke the first day. the water heaters weren't fixed until afternoon, in which i came back into my room to find that the heater had shorted out while I was gone, so my room was freezing cold. They moved me rooms for the heater which i appreciate, but that's two pretty big problems in less than 24 hours. For the water heater, i requested a partial refund as I was missing out on an important necessity. I was offered a 15% refund of the first nights total price, but they won't refund it to my payment method; only as a credit for when we stay with them next time. I'm sure it's not hard to guess, but there won't be a next time. PS. Almost forgot to mention the elevators weren't working either. don't stay here. read more

For a last minute hotel change, this fit the bill. It was clean and offered breakfast. The rooms are updated and there is either elevator or stair access to reach floor. They had fresh cookies, coffee, hot chocolate available by the check in desk as well. The front desk staff at check in and check out were both very friendly and had a kind demeanor. Breakfast quality bellow the typically bland hotel fair. I don't know how they justify the prices. My wife saw two young women with suitcases waiting for a ride up the hill (1 block) when she want out for an evening walk, then again with their suitcases waiting again for someone the next morning. The hotel is newly remodeled. Very clean and modern. The room was just fine and quiet. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They quickly opened the fitness room door and asked us if we needed anything during our three-day stay. The breakfast was exactly what we expected and beat going out to a restaurant... hot and freshly made. Beach is a few steps away and the sunset was 10/10. Room was clean and we were greeted nicely. No pool...but they have a decent workout room. No breakfast...but there is a bag to grab of basic food. Time for breakfast to come back. First off, be VERY cautious entering the parking lot on the east side of the building. We got a flat tire coming in and fortunately, we were returning to the hotel at that time. The hotel said that never happened before, which, by judging how jagged the concrete is there, I'm not sure I believe that. We've stayed in this hotel once before and had a better experience. During this stay, the TV remote and toilet flusher weren't working half the time, the cable signal was going out frequently and the sink was filling up because the plunger would get stuck. I can't honestly say it deserves three stars but I thought two seemed pretty low. If my rating was based off this stay alone, it would absolutely be two stars. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Comfort Inn in Newport, OR. We had a reservation there to spend the night and to attend a wedding on what turned out to be the worst ice storm maybe ever. Almost everyone who was to attend could not get to Newport except the bride (our granddaughter) and groom and another grandfather. Then the city closed the venue where the wedding was supposed to be. The Comfort Inn let us have the wedding in their conference room and saved the day as well as it could be under the circumstances. And besides our room was good and the breakfast was good. read more

We stay at this hotel every year. We love the location, amenities, comfortable bed and especially the great value. I would have given it a 5 star rating had it not been for an uncomfortable interaction with the hotel manager. We have a service dog. While he was taking care of his business out front, my husband realized he did not have a dog bag. He quickly went to the car to get the bag only to have the hotel manager yell at him from the front door of the hotel instructing him to clean the mess left by our dog. My husband explained the situation and assured him he was in the process of removing the poop. The hotel manager stood in the doorway watching my husband until he finished taking care of the situation. Very poor taste. Very demeaning. We would have preferred he spoke to him privately rather than causing a scene. Other than this embarrassment, we actually did enjoy our stay. read more

ANNOYED. No big stuff went wrong, just stuff that shouldn't go wrong was not handled. NICE LOOKING PLACE! Generally clean and neat. Good breakfast. SHEETS: As we were checking in, I banged my leg on my trailer hitch (SERIOUSLY that was NOT THEIR FAULT) and scratched it enough that it was bleeding a little that first night. I really didn't even notice, but on the last day of our stay, I pulled back the sheet and realized that they had NEVER CHANGED THE SHEETS. Coffee pot was in the room, old coffee and old filter was in it when we checked in. The whole time we were there, I had to go and ask for clean disposable cups and more coffee for the pot. THEY NEVER CLEANED IT the whole time we were there, I had to. Bathroom had little pieces of candy on the floor that I left there in the corner just to see. NOT candy I brought, someone kids hard candy. It was still there when we checked out. Shower was really difficult to turn on and off, and there was almost no pressure - just a dribble. It wasn't that there were a lot of guests using up the water pressure, the hotel was almost empty. As I said, there was nothing big, just annoyances. We checked out a day early when we realized it just wasn't working. BTW: I know hotels, I used to travel for work and I spent 200 to 250 nights a year in hotels for several years. read more

Stayed here for one night on a road trip down Hwy 101. We checked in late in the evening but the staff was pleasant. We had a double queen room and it was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. The hotel and rooms smelled fresh, which is more than I can say for the numerous other hotels/motels we stayed at on our trip. Breakfast was made up of the usual cereals, toast, juice, coffee, pastries, boiled eggs and make-your-own waffles. Overall a pleasant experience. I'd stay here again if I were in town. read more

Wow! This place has really gone downhill. James was the nightshirt person. He was not only rude but downright abusive. When signing the "register" II realized that the charges did not match my reservation that was emailed. James explained that they were busy and raising rates, while yelling at me. Then there was the room; it was filled with smoke smells. I immediately reported it to James and was told that there was nothing they could do. I asked to be moved. He responded that he was calling the owner. Great! Time when by. I went to bed. There was a loud knock on the door. James was there demanding that I move. OK. I moved in my exhausted state to a room down the hall. That room had an issue with the shower. I checked out the first thing in the morning and moved to the Hallmark Resort and Spa down the street. What a great decision. I will never return to comfort inn. read more

This is a clean, cozy hotel that is practically across the street from the ocean. It is on a quiet street - I slept well - yet within half a mile of the village of Nye Beach and Newport's harbor (and a long block from the 101). If you can stay here for a cheaper price than the oceanfront properties down the block, I think you'll be happy. You can be on beautiful Nye beach in just a few skips and some stairs. The rooms are not huge but they are clean and comfortable, and the hotel is well maintained. Front desk staff is personable and responsive. Free hot breakfast was more than adequate. There's a small fitness room. There is no pool, if that's important to you. Fresh-baked cookies in the evening. Ample parking. I have nothing bad to say. Newport itself is nice little community. The harbor area is a real, working fishing village plus tourist attraction with shops and restaurants. Nye Beach is quant little village with restaurants and shops as well. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is close by. Great views from Yaquina Head Lighthouse a few miles away. It's a great beach vacation here. read more

This is a mixed review. There were some really nice features about this hotel including the location, front desk person, and breakfast. However, two of the three nights we spent were disrupted nearly all night by loud rude neighbors. Someone pounded on their door and spoke to them twice however they kept us up both Friday and Saturday nights. We were not inclined to speak to them as two women traveling who do not feel safe having a 3am hotel confrontation with four neighbors. When I spoke with the manager on Sunday about the problem and asked for any sort of small compensation (ex a future discount - really anything) in the form of an apology for this major disruption to our vacation, he put the blame on me for not dealing with it during the night. We booked with a more pricy chain intentionally assuming they would address these sort of issues and put repeat business as a priority. We wont be going back. read more

The front entrance is really nice and the continental breakfast had quite a selection of items to choose from to eat. The room itself, 1 king size bed (No jacuzzi tub) room, was okay although I'd say there are a couple of other hotels/motels that can offer more for cheaper rates. The shower has very little pressure so don't think you're going to enjoy it much. Also note that if you stay on the 2nd floor and your windows face the back parking lot behind the main entrance, that can be a drag when others park right there when it's still dark out and their head lights are on. I found a pill from some prior tenant that was on a shelf above the hangers that wasn't easily seen by hotel staff so I threw it out. read more

Pros: Very nice location at a decent price. The motel isn't oceanfront, but I had a good ocean view from my window. The beds were very comfortable. And the showerhead was adjustable, which made my shower better than average. And the front desk had cookies when we checked in, which was a definite plus. Cons: The cloth shower curtain had no liner, so it did absolutely nothing to keep the shower water off of the bathroom floor. But my towels did a fine job of absorbing the water after I was done drying off. The breakfast was completely forgettable. Microwave bacon, prison quality scrambled eggs, no splenda for the coffee. Cons notwithstanding, I would gladly return. read more

Nice, clean, well maintained place. The problem with my stay was - as crazy as it sounds, it rained during my stay. The exterior wall HVAC unit had water dripping on or in it. Sounded like water dripping into the exact center of a plastic 5 gallon bucket. Very loud in an otherwise quiet room and it dripped, and dripped, and dripped, and dripped, and dripped, and dripped, and dripped, and dripped...you get the picture. The main purpose of a hotel is to get a good nights sleep. When that can't happen, everything else doesn't matter - one star. Maybe your room won't have this issue. Just stay away from room 328. Update: The Manager responded to this review with what I thought to be genuine concern. Got to respect that. read more

This is a nice hotel near Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon. The room and bathroom were small compared to a similarly priced room we had at an Oxford Suites in Portland, and the wifi was slower but we weren't there for the room or the wifi. We just needed a clean cozy place to rest our heads for the night with a continental breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was good, and included do-it-yourself waffles. Overall, it was a good value. I'd recommend it for visiting on a budget. read more

Booked a Queen double bed room last minute on choice hotels.com. Price was fair. Staff was very nice. This is a very short drive to the Newport aquarium and a short walk to the beach. (You do have to go down a steep stairway to get to the beach, good thing to keep in mind! it would be hard to get to the beach this route if you have a disability, injury or are bringing a lot of stuff to the beach or have a stroller!)This is a good location.There are a lot of nearby restaurants stores, Pign pancakes, Mazlatan, Walgreens, dollar store etc. They do offer hot breakfast in the morning however it was not very good so I don't recommend eating the hot breakfast. Bacon and eggs I would compare to eating mcdonalds food. They do have healthier options like fruit, yogurt, cereal and they always have hot coffee available. I would stay here again, we did a last minute beach trip with family. kids ages 3 and 1 and had a great time. read more

What a great value! Both the hotel itself and the individual rooms are clean, well lit and comfortable. Plus, it's close to the water, you can hardly beat it. I love hearing the sounds of the ocean and was able to listen by cracking open my window at night for a little ocean breeze. Also, the staff at the Comfort Inn Newport deserve a big thumbs up. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back! The room was clean and cozy and nice, the staff was very friendly. Cookies at the front desk in the evening! The breakfast was a decent part of choosing to stay here, and it didn't disappoint. Chuck was friendly and attentive to keeping things filled and cleaned for breakfast. Waffles, sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and an assortment of cereals, muffins, bagels, and yogurt made for a filling meal. While it's not directly on the beach, you can walk right across the street to the beach, and it's nice and close to the Nye Beach shops and area. The only con was noise level. I could hear the neighbor coughing all night long. That was partially my own fault - I should have had ear plugs! Noise travelled easily between rooms, between normal conversation noise and the noise of toilet flushes and showers. That won't stop us from returning - great price, great location, great breakfast, and relaxing trip! read more

From immediately knowing he had a reservation for me - having it ready to initial and sign - providing me with a professionally crafted spiel of the accommodations - the exact location of my room as compared to the entrance way - the locations of various establishments surrounding the motel - the direction my room faced - and already having the room pre-prepared with thanks to me for being an elite diamond member - what is not to like! Not quite Comfort Inn standards, but you get what you pay for. It was one of the cheaper rates I found in Newport, OR. For some reason, B&B's creep me out, so I thought a nationally recognized chain would be the way to go. Overall, it was eh. The faint smell of industrial strength detergent from the sheets was strong enough to wake me up ever so often. Altho, it's probably arguable that I smelled squeeky clean the next morning (but not in a Bounce kind of way, more like a cheap fabric softner kind of way). Hubby walked to the beach at sunrise as I convalesced from the cold he gave me earlier in the week. We'd had to modify our travel plans for various reasons, the cold we shared being only one. The hotel itself is clean and the staff polite. I appreciated the kindness of the staff working the desk. Unfortunately, just a few hours into my stay my mother died in my home. I had to immediately leave and was told the manager may give a credit for the room, which would have been greatly appreciated under the circumstances. When my husband called to ask about it the manager declined. We have stayed almost exclusively at Choice hotels over the years precisely because they are usually accommodating and helpful. This exchange left me feeling taken advantage of while also dealing with my mother's passing. It's unfortunate because with more thoughtful service we would have been happy to return. read more

We stayed two nights and were very satisfied with our stay. We had one of their awesome king sized beds, and I gotta say that those king beds are the best I have had in any hotel. The free WiFi was nice and consistent enough to stream content off of our Dish DVR onto our tablet. A big plus for us as we don't tend to like most of the general TV offerings in hotels.. The building is situated just about a block and a half from the beach so while you don't get the ocean view, or the cost, you still can be on the beach with a 5 minute walk. The breakfast offerings are average. They have a fair amount of variety. Hot sausage patties, eggs and bacon. Biscuits and gravy, make your on waffles and cereal and yogurt options. My wife and I enjoyed not having to go anywhere else to get breakfast. It isn't restaurant quality food but there is plenty to fill you up in the morning. The staff is fantastic and quick to assist in anyway possible. They run a tight ship here. I will definitely book again the next time we travel to Newport. read more

This hotel is neither flexible nor accommodating. The beds are comfortable and the front desk is kind. However, it cost us over a thousand dollars to stay here. We came to this hotel specifically to do some work and enjoy the beach. Due to the poorest internet connection that was unsecure, we lost out on hundreds of dollars from our clients. When we tried to make management aware that we needed to cancel an entire day of work, we could not get a hold of management. After paying nearly $200 a night, this seems like such a disgrace. We stayed in a King bed room and loved the big bed! The room was clean and didn't smell. The front desk was very helpful (they pointed us in the right direction for dinner the last night there) and friendly. They also baked cookies so of course, I helped myself! It's in a great location, close to a lot of things. Continental breakfast was one of the best I've had. They had sausage links and patties, bacon, eggs(they weren't that great), and biscuits and gravy amongst other regulars at breakfast. Checking in and out was easy and quick. We got our trip rescheduled for a few weeks out and I already made our next reservation here. Only thing is I wish the complimentary breakfast was a little later and not at 9:30...
