About 9 minutes outside of Staunton, and 15 from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway, this Comfort Inn served its purpose well for the three nights we were there. Our room was clean on arrival, with upgrade to king bed and plenty of hot water and pressure. The fridge and microwave were also nice to have. Room was straightened upon request by notifying the front desk of our desire. The free breakfast from 6-9 was actually varied and decent enough to be worth waking up for, with potable coffee, DIY waffle makers, name brand yogurt, choice of white, whole-wheat or bagel accompaniment to several cold cereal, cheese omelets and patty/link sausage. An extra hour until 10 would have been really nice, but management didn't see it that way. After a long day of self guided tours of historic hilly Staunton or scrambling over granite outcroppings overlooking the gorgeous blue tinted long valleys of the Blue Ridge Parkway, we didn't always want to clean up for dinner and preferred to hit the local Martin's supermarket or nearby highway joints for takeout, and just crash in our room. Dinner and beer sitting on the sofa were perfect ends to spectacular days. In case more inducement is needed, there was a Waffle House across the parking lot from this Comfort Inn. We didn't get there, but it was great to have that as an easy option. read more

Not all comfort inns are created equal. This is not a great option. The only pro is hot shower water. I couldn't even shut the door in bathroom without sitting on toilet very tiny bathroom. Much was to be desired about the room and bed it seems staff is minimum requirement very little attention to detail. Don't touch the mirror or get on the bed wrong. Outer sheets need washed, lamp shades need replaced. Shower leaks into the entry way. Breakfast was ok. Staff gave me bad vibes. Would not stay here again. read more

If I could give a worse rating I would! My daughter and I stayed there for one night and was woken up about 5am with a strange man barging through the door. My daughter is screaming and crying thinking we are going to die. Thankfully it was a guest who got the wrong room HOWEVER, why was his key able to open my door!?!??! When I attempted to contact the manager, I was told to wait, I waited about 15 mins and then left because my daughter was so scared. I called the hotel multiple times only to be told the manager was not there, he would call me back. No response. I finally contacted hotels.com who I booked through, and they got ahold of the manager who said he would give me 25.00 for my "inconvenience". Inconvenience!?!?!? We could've been killed!!! At first I was pleased with the room until I realized that I was at the front of the building and I could hear every sound imaginable. Not to mention this hotel is next to some train tracks, so you can definitely hear the train when it comes through (and not from a distance either). The rooms are spacious, the beds are a little stiff. My sink had problems draining when I was brushing my teeth, it appeared that the light was sort of broken in the bathroom. They also have breakfast. I didn't see what was for breakfast. I woke up at 5:30 in the morning to loud noises in the hallway and in the front of the building. I was only on the 2nd floor. So I didn't get a good nights sleep here. Overall, if you just need a place to stay just for the night. I would say, stay. However, if its a few nights. I'm not so sure. read more

Avoid lying to me. Totally RUDE and argumentive desk clerk on the phone first swore my confirmed reservation did not exist as I was trying to modify it during a cross-country trip. He finally found it after he tried to start an argument. I booked through a Travel Agent at my local AAA office and the desk clerk claimed I could NOT cancel nor modify without a call from some "booking-R-us" online service I do not use. The desk clerk also kept changing the name of his online service. I made other arrangements and my travel agent cancelled the reservation 2 days later when her office opened. read more

I stayed here a few times back between 2002-2004. It was moderately priced, the rooms were pretty clean and the employees were nice. Nothing great about it. Typical continental breakfast that you get at all hotels. What stands out about this place is the location. It's just shy of where I-81 and I-64 split apart. This is important to anyone traveling eastbound on I-64. There isn't much out between Richmond and Staunton........hell there isn't much between Norfolk and Staunton. Richmond's hotel rooms are frequently sold out and they are extremely expensive. This place has a Super Walmart up the road for some restocking of energy drinks and crappy snacks for your drive. If you are the risky adventurey type you can eat at the Waffle House next door. (No thanks. I don't have the stomach for it.) This is a good cheap place in a good location. The other hotels in the area are usually $10-$40 more expensive than Comfort Inn. read more

The door handle on the inside of the door on room 205 came off in our hands. It was early evening; no maintenance person on site. We were locked in our room because magnetic keys from outside the room would not work because half of the door handle was in our hands inside the room. If there had been a fire we would be dead. Maintenance told us that many of the door handles had been replaced with handles that did not fit. read more

The Comfort Inn in Staunton, VA is so nice, and conveniently located near Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. If you're hungry, it's right next to a Waffle House, and a block away from a Cracker Barrel and a Texas Steakhouse. Very spacious and well-maintained room with two queen size beds, mini-fridge, microwave, very nice bathrooms, and a TV. A nice outdoor pool, as well. Breakfast was included, and it did not disappoint. Made to order waffles, scrambled eggs, pork sausage, as well as plenty of yogurt, bagels and fresh fruit. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My boyfriend and I stayed here after a day of wine tasting. He's in the military so we got a discount. I did some research and Comfort Inn offered the best discount in the area, $75/night not including taxes. Everything looked new and clean (except for the shower/tub with had hair in it). The best was comfortable and the room was spacious. The room included a flat screen tv, a sitting area with a love seat, coffee table, and desk, a mini fridge, and free wi-fi. One other downside in addition to the hair in the tub was the noise from the hallways. There was a mini party going on in the room across the hall at 4:30am that woke me up. If you're looking for a convenient and affordable place to stay, this is a good choice! We spent most of the day up and and about and stayed here only to sleep. This place was perfect for our purposes. We had 6 girls in our party and they were able to get us rooms next to each each other with joining door so we had 2 bathrooms for 6 girls (which was KEY!). So that was really nice. The Continental breakfast was very good, with hard boiled eggs and coffee and large bagels. YUM! If you are in need of quantity for breakfast, Waffle House was within walking distance. Overall, I was very satisfied with the prices (about $75/night/room) for a cleaner and funk free room. I stayed there overnight when traveling. It is very convenient off of I-81. The room itself was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. I checked in really late (around 1:30am) and the man at the desk (with the most awesome facial hair - literally braided) gave me a discounted, coupon rate, even though I didn't ask. The price was very right. The beds and the room itself was very clean and tidy, but the bathroom was terrible. The maid had clearly forgotten the bathroom. There was hair in the shower, the garbage hadn't been emptied and there was toothpaste on the doorjam. Gross. However, the rest of the place was really clean, so I honestly believe it was just the result of one person's bad day. The complimentary continental breakfast was pretty great - really large selection, including make-them-yourself waffles, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled and scrambled eggs, as well as the basics of fruit, muffins, yogurt, etc. Really good coffee, which was a very happy surprise. Overall the place was decent. The breakfast offered a wide variety. What disturbed me the most was the blood we found on the sheets from a previous guest and the nonchalant response from both hotel clerks we told about it. The only one who seemed truly concerned was the maid that we just happened to catch as she was cleaning our room. The front desk had not even passed the concern on to housekeeping!! We had a really lovely stay at the Comfort Inn. The friendly staff made check in as fast as possible. Their lobby has a retro popcorn machine. (We came back for seconds! It was so delicious!) Our room was spacious and very comfortable and staff provided us with all toiletries necessary as well as a razor free of charge. They had fresh fruit at the complementary breakfast. Wife and I were on a wine tour and wanted to stay in good ole Staunton VA. We had a free night with Comfort Inn so bam this was the choice. Hotel is in great shape and very clean. We loved the popcorn machine and it was a great snack. They upgraded us to a room with a 1 person Jacuzzi tub. I have never received an upgrade in my life so this was super nice for us. Chris at the front desk was excellent. He made you feel at home and gave some great tips of the town. We had an excellent stay. Only negative comment is that the breakfast food is not the best but that is for all the hotels that do breakfast. I think the wife and I are tired of the hotel breakfast scene. BUGS - I'd give this hotel zero stars if I could. The manager/front desk man was extremely rude and condescending and he also didn't wear his mask. The hotel is dirty and falling apart, there weren't safety precautions or measures in place anywhere, the room was smelly, and it looks NOTHING like the nice pictures they use online. We immediately found a bunch of BED BUGS in the beds and bed frames and when we tried to tell the front desk man and told him we wanted to leave and not stay he was immediately rude, angry, dismissive, and told us we were wrong and that they were "probably stinkbugs" as if we didn't know the difference. We also found lots of blood spots near all the bugs on the bedding and box spring. The charge is still pending on my credit card even though we were only in the building for 5 minutes and didn't stay so I'll be calling about that. We went across the street to the Fairfield Inn & Suites and it was the same price and absolutely perfect, clean, and the staff were amazing. read more

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. While driving cross country from Arkansas to DC, I stopped at Comfort Inns in Dickson TN, and then this one in Staunton, VA. The Comfort Inn in Dickson was lovely. This one is a Sh*t hole. The pillows are small squares, and they don't have normal sized pillows available. The sheets are too small for the beds. The bedspreads and carpets are ratty and need to be upgraded. The rooms are tiny and smell odd. The bathrooms are oddly tiny and the shower has poor pressure. The girl at the front desk was extremely nice, but was the only one working there. So when we got up to the room and found that there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, we had to go down to the lobby to PICK IT UP. Comfort Inns should be ashamed of this location. It desperately needs renovation. read more

Looked for a nice place to stop for the night and came upon this hotel. This place was amazing. Looks like it was just renovated. Everything is new and spotless. Beds appear to be new also. They even have USB ports in the wall for cellphone charging. The breakfast is top notch. Waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, hard boiled eggs and the usual Danishes, cereal, oatmeal and such. The hotel has a small pool outside but we didn't use it. The only downside was the vending machines hadn't been installed yet. The staff was great. read more

The week before Thanksgiving, I called this hotel to ask if it would be possible to leave my car in their parking lot for a few days, as I was carpooling with my parents to our Thanksgiving destination. I spoke with Terri at the front desk, and not only was she helpful, she was beyond kind to let me leave my car --without even staying in the hotel. I got back to my car a few days later after the holiday, and my car was safe and sound. Most hotels would have refused me right away and/or charged me a daily fee. Went to Staunton for a weekend conference. The price was great. The hotel is conveniently right off the highway and it's away from the traffic which is great. The front desk and cleaning staff were polite and friendly. It is in close proximity to a Walmart, restaurants (Chic-fil-a, Cacker Barrel, etc), Starbucks, and gas stations; and 10 minutes from historic downtown, where our conference was held. The wi-fi was pretty fast. The room and lobby were clean. The only issue is the hotel itself is a tad dated, and we had a "My Cousin Vinny" moment where a train rides by sometime int the middle of the night/early morning, which we were unaware of (only lasts about 2-3 mins). The train riding in the middle of the night is the only reason why I gave it a 3 and not a 4. Other than that, it's a cozy, basic hotel that meets basic needs and they also have complimentary breakfast that we did not use. For the price, I would stay here again if I have to. read more

I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Staunton for 5 days last week and was very pleased. Here are ten reasons why I would recommend this hotel and stay there again. 1.) Manager (Douglas Hicks) assistant manager(Shae) house keeping and all other staff were very friendly and accommodating. 2.) Rooms were clean and comfortable. 3.) Wifi worked very well without any lapses. 4.) Ice Machines produced clean ice and seemed to be filtered water. 5.) The yummy complimentary breakfast had a larger assortment than most hotels. Something for everyone. 6.) Nice seasonal pool, workout room and washer/dryer. 7.) Fridge and microwave (in every room) and they worked wonderfully. 8.) Close to a ton of fun activities, site seeing, historic downtown, delicious restaurants and shopping. 9.) They make fresh complimentary popcorn every afternoon thru the evening. (kids loved that) 10.) Great prices and it was quiet - I slept well. There are more amenities and qualities...
