This review is written from a dog-owner's perspective. Planning to meet up with a local friend, we checked Hilton hotels within a ten mile radius. At $75 this, to our surprise, was the cheapest rate for our doggo. If I didn't have his crate, bed and feeding station -- I said this is from a dog-owner's perspective! -- I wouldn't notice that the room is a bit smaller than other Hampton Inns. The property isn't new, with furniture somewhat dated. (Really 3.5 stars. Certainly not 4.) All I care about is cleanliness, comfort and water pressure, with this hotel meeting my requirements. As you can see in the photo there's a big grassy area where one can walk their dog. And people do! But, despite the convenience of a bag-and-disposal station, some people don't pick up after their four-legged friends, so you have to be careful where you walk! That drives me nuts. The hotel is conveniently situated off the highway and less than ten minutes from downtown Staunton, with its quaint shops and restaurants. There's a nice outdoor pool, currently drained. I'd stay here again. read more

This hotel is a bit smaller than the others, but it is nice. Comfy beds, the fridge is double the size I've seen in other hotels. The hot water is hot, and the shower head is amazing. Staff were super friendly and even offered us a cookie when we arrived. I will def stay here again. read more

Probably the most accommodating people ever at the check in desk. Went FAR out of their way to assist us, even making 2 trips to our room to help us with using the self check-in app (We were new at this) and to correct a problem trying to get on line (ended up being the server). Also accommodated us with a room assignment change and did so very willingly. Would definitely stay here again. I travel a good amount throughout the year and this was my third Hampton Inn this year. I would stay at this one over a Hyatt or Marriott. It was extremely clean and well managed. The staff was incredibly welcoming and greeted me by text just after I arrived to make sure there wasn't anything we needed. I'm staying at another Hampton in WV tonight and truly miss the cleanliness and welcome we found in Staunton. read more

We stayed at this Hampton Inn on Jun. 2 and Jun. 8 on our way up to MA from GA and on our way home. Each time that we stayed here, we have a great experience. The staff was always very friendly, helpful, and accommodating to us with our special needs daughter in here wheelchair. The room each time was very clean and presentable. Prices were comparable to other hotels. However, I would be willing to pay a little more to stay here because of the much better experience here vs. other hotels. The complimentary breakfast had a great selection and the coffee was on point. Whenever we drive from GA to MA from this point on, this is a great halfway stopping point for us that we will now use from this point forward. I would HIGHLY recommend this franchise of the Hampton Inn hotels. read more

The Hampton Inn in Staunton is a typical unit in the chain, and that's a compliment. At Hampton Inn, you can expect a friendly reception, a clean room and a fair rate. This particular Hampton Inn is on a hill above a small, not very active strip center and some chain restaurants (Red Lobster, McDonald's and such). It's convenient to the interstate and is a short drive from the historic district, including the Woodrow Wilson birthplace, museum and library. Although this is a Hampton Inn, not a Hampton Inn & Suites, we were upgraded to a king minisuite, which was nice. Breakfast was average. The fitness room was small but had what I needed. Very efficient and likable. I especially appreciated that the staff here went out of their way to make sure I had a DVD player in my room that I requested the day before I arrived. Don't say anything, but I ended up not getting a chance to use it, but that doesn't detract from the awesome staff here going the distance for me. The lobby is kinda cool in that it has a little coffee station with regular, decaf, tea bags, hot chocolate, and a bowl of fruit. What's not to like about that after you've just rolled in here late at night and it's exactly what you wanted. Breakfast has this bacon that was akin to thick wax paper in both taste and appearance. Meh. Decent motel, but some oddities. Example: there's a USB port station by the bed...but only on one side of the bed. And it's super-glued to the nightstand so you can use it elsewhere. Apparently there's a serious criminal/kleptomaniac contingent that stays here so regularly that five dollar chargers have to be permanently attached or the clientele will pilfer them. Lights in the bathroom and hallway are fluorescent fixtures circa 2005. This would be understandable except that they could replace the fixtures for under $100 (including labor), and at over $100/night, why wouldn't they?! A weird motel. Fairly clean, but for an extra 25 cents a night, they could make some MAJOR improvements. Edit: minus one star for having a bunch of flood lights aiming at the sky. Light pollution is a major problem in this region, especially since much of our tourist economy relies on dark skies viewing opportunities. I will not be staying here again until they make some changes to fix their practices that damage the local economy and the environment. read more

My husband and I travel for work and we stay in hotels 8-9 months out of the year. We've seen a lot of different places and a lot of Hamptons. This Hampton is a very good location. Of course our company pays for our room and board, so this is not a price review. The quality here is really good. The housekeepers are very friendly--the entire staff is very friendly! Most Hamptons have friendly staff, but everyone here that I have encountered is exceeds the ordinary. They're awesome. The rooms are nice and clean. They have afternoon cookie hour, which lasts hours, ever. single. day. I have never seen a Hampton do that and I've been living this lifestyle for five years. (I love cookie hour--brownie hour would be better! *snickers*) For most hamptons, the hours and days for cookies is ambiguous. The only down side I can see is that they do not have onsite laundry, but conveniently one is less than five min down the road. read more

Very pleased with this hotel. We were on the road and I called to book a room. The poor woman at reception was swamped and apparently the only employee on the clock. She took my info and called me back when she could to get our reservation set up. Check in was a breeze. The rooms are nice. We got a King suite. I really like the way the rooms are set up. Nice and open floor plan so you feel like you have a ton of room. We stay at a lot of hotels with a kitchenette. This one was the most open plan, with lots of space to work with. I was surprised to find they offered 2 choices of soup and more to warm me and great conversation. Just what i needed to energize me after my long drive here. A-OK! My first time in a Hampton Inn - not bad. Perched up on a hill over looking the...back of the mall. It's a Hampton Inn, in Staunton (a city I didn't know of until I got there), it would be silly to expect some sort of view. I was just happy I got to keep my life after venturing outside my comfort zone known as Northern VA. We just needed a place to lay our heads for the night and I was pleased with our experience here. Plus they had tea and coffee out late at night when we rolled in - much appreciated since I was fighting to stay awake as SOMEONE else got to snooze in the passenger seat. There isn't much to say about the breakfast spread we had the next morning other than there was more than expected and that it's breakfast at Hampton Inn (funky bacon, "eh" danish, I think the yogurt was a safe bet!.) Just go in expecting a clean, [very] comfy, and friendly little hotel. read more

Arrived very late and the staff was very helpful. The hotel/ rooms are very clean and well kept. The sheets smelled good and were soft unlike most hotels which the sheets tend to gross you out..The lobby has breakfast every morning from 7-10am and they have waffles you make which I loved and they have drinks all day. Let's talk about Hostility Linda, a "manager" at the hotel. First off I'm an insurance adjuster for flood. Due to hurricane Ida I was deployed to NJ. After traveling through the night on Saturday I decided to stop around 5AM and settled on this hotel because of the reviews. The young man at the front desk was VERY friendly and informed me check out was on Sunday. When I woke up that morning after getting 3-4 hours of sleep Linda informed me they had oversold the hotel and that I would have to rebook a handicap room for a discounted rate. Keep in mind I had booked a suite and only been at the hotel for 5 hours max. I tried talking, getting upset, and everything else with Linda for her to tell me verbatim " you won't find another hotel for 500 miles so you're out of luck." I was in shock and called Hilton directly. After speaking with Hilton, Linda stated that she would comp the king room. I responded with thats not a comp, thats a downgrade. Id already paid almost $250 for the suite until Sunday and now I'm having to move all of my equipment, and go to a cheaper room for the same price. Plus the 62 insureds that were waiting on me to get them scheduled are now being delayed. I literally cried... Later on I called Hilton Support back and told them I couldn't stay there with Hostility Linda. They informed me the GM would reach out within 3 business days to make things right. Well, that was 4 days ago and I still haven't heard back from them. Needless to say they have lost ALL of my business. BEWARE OF HOSTILITY LINDA. I've never wished for someone to be fired from their job, because I get it. We can't always be in a good mood, but she's in the wrong industry. We had to stop and stay here unexpectedly due to a med Mc ical issue. The staff aMcs well as the guests were the friendliest and most helpful we have ever experienced. You never know what you're going to get when you have to choose something last minute, and we were prepared to deal with less-than-good conditions, but we were happy to discover a room with pristine amenities. The bathroom looked almost brand new, the room was already set to a comfortable temperature, the bedding was clean and neat, and even the upholstered chair and ottoman were not spotted or stained, which Being people who travel extensively, we have st is very often the case. The lobby was stocked with snacks: cookies, ice cream, drinks. The staff was helpful and accomodating, even though we were sudden, unplanned guests. My son went downstairs to get me a drink and when he he asked to borrow a tray, and people heard his mom wasnt feeling well, the staff and even a guest got up to help him gather things to take back up. The next morning, the hot breakfast was delicious, filled with omelets that were fluffy, not flat, sausage patties that were crisped and browned, not grey and undercooked, oatmeal, waffles, red-skinned potatoes, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and more. We have stayed in dozens of hotels just this year, 5 just on this one trip, and I can honestly say, this was our best, cleanest, most friendly experience. We have made note of it and plan to stay again when we pass through. read more

Great hotel stop on our summer road trip. The gentleman who checked us in was really helpful and a lot of fun too. Rooms were large, clean and updated. I squealed with joy at finding USB chargers on the nightstand. My husband ate the free cookies while I worked out in the totally serviceable fitness room. Expensive, but not sure why (4-19-15). This location cost 75% more than the equivalent Hampton Inn that we stayed at the previous night in Richmond, VA. We've stayed in a Hampton Inn for 6 of the last 7 nights of travel and this was the most expensive, with not one additional feature or benefit. Felt like a rip-off. Perhaps it's because there are no competing Hilton properties nearby. When we asked for a late check-out, the guy at the front desk said the most he could give us was one additional hour. Other than that, this hotel offers the standard Hampton Inn experience: Clean, well maintained property. read more

Stayed here for a night while in town for work. It was clean, easy enough to find, quiet, rooms nicely sized, continental breakfast was decent, front desk staff is friendly. When I checked out I passed a cleaning lady and she asked what room I was in, I assume to get to cleaning it and she wished me a nice day with a nice smile, very friendly. Glad to see they are on top of cleaning too. I've stayed at marriotts that weren't this nice and comfy so two thumbs up from me. Would pick this place to stay at again in the future. read more

What a great find this was. Everyone from management to cleaning staff were pleasant, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was good, the coffee was good, the rooms were great. The only complaint I could possibly have was that I wish the weather was a bit warmer, I asked but the hotel just couldn't make that happen. It may sound like a cliche, but we came for one night and stayed for three! The rates were very competitive and everything in the hotel was perfect. Nothing in the room was out of place and was very clean. The Staunton area is wonderful and this Hampton Inn was one of reasons we stayed. Location right off of 81 is biggest plus. Room was clean. There were a number of unexplainable weird noises during the night. The fitness room was closed until 8 am on a weekday because "someone was staying in the room next to it." So, no workout before we hit the road. I would stick with pre-packaged items for breakfast. Fruit was just yucky except for bananas, and hard boiled eggs must have been cooked for an hour. We will make another choice when traveling down 81 in the future. read more
