I came back to this hotel three years after my last visit. It has changed a bit. It seems that the administration has changed because it looks more deteriorated. Very cozy beds and a great nights sleep. We arrived around 10pm and someone was waiting to Check us in. The room was very clean. The best part was the breakfast. Weve been on a road trip so we've stayed in a few hotels over the past week. This one by far had the best breakfast. It was like they actually had a cook preparing the food and not just microwaving food to heat it. Coffee was really good and piping hot every single cup. We went to Gainesville to attend a UF football game. The rate to stay, while a bit higher than normal, was not exorbitant. What we didn't expect were the extra amenities provided by this hotel. Between the free shuttle to and from the football game and the free tailgate lunch, the staff at the Comfort Inn made our weekend thoroughly enjoyable from the minute we stepped up to the desk, until we walked out the door. We had an unexpected second night stay and had to change hotels. For the price point we were very pleased with this comfort inn. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was very, very good with lots of choices and fresh food. Rooms were spacious and ample parking. When you travel with pets, there's always an issue with where do you stay. There are several sites that can help with finding pet friendly hotels and but after reviewing the listings, we've always found it best to call ahead and verify the details. While traveling west, we found ourselves stopping in Gainesville for the night. We rode around for a while searching and found that the Comfort Inn was listed as pet friendly. We checked the reviews and they were very good. We called ahead and spoke to Shamier. He was very pleasant and he advised they did have a vacant pet friendly room for the night so we decided to check it out. We arrived at the Comfort Inn and it was in a great area of town. When we went in we were greeted by Shamier and the smell of fresh popcorn. What a great start. The check in went smoothly and in no time we had a room with 2 queen beds that was pet friendly. After getting our gear and pets in, we checked back with Shamier about a good place for salads locally. Since it was Christmas night, we knew not many places be open. He suggested the Olive Garden not far away. We headed that way but sadly, it was closed. The good news was TGIFridays was open. After a slight wait, we had a couple of salads and headed back to the hotel. The next morning we enjoyed the eggs, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits offered just off the lobby. They also had waffles and bagels. The coffee was outstanding. We received a great Good Morning from Natalie and told her how great it was they had special, pet friendly rooms. She was fun to talk too. After loading up our gear and our guys we had to hit the road. The Comfort Inn was convenient to the highway. Many THANKS to Shamier & Natalie for a great stay. Definitely a hidden gem at just $61 a night. College chick was wanting to stay at the other Comfort Inn she was familiar with, but we were both delightfully pleased when we arrived at this one and it was even cleaner than the other one. I found this hotel through Tripadvisor and I can see why it was ranked #6 out of 44 hotels in Gainesville. Very friendly staff, very nice clean rooms, and even includes a kitchenette complete with microwave and fridge. Nice! They also have a computer in the lobby so you can book on hotels.com and get some discounts on your reservation. Hehehe. It's a bit out of the way from the nightlife in downtown, but its close enough to campus. And a short trip on I-75 brings the mall within close reach, too. Only cons were the shower floor was a tad dingy and they didn't have bandaids (my friend had a freak accident with the zipper on her makeup case ripping off 2 layers of skin!). I'd stay again, but next time I'll pack bandaids. read more

Stayed at this hotel while in Gainesville for my uncle's medical procedure at the VA hospital. Because this is the hotel that the VA reserved for my uncle's one-night stay before going to the hospital, I made a reservation at this same hotel to be readily available to take him to the hospital. The front desk staff was nice. However, after wiping down everything (with Lysol wipes, new normal now), going out to grab dinner, and getting back to the room to settle down, realized that there were crumbs on the floor around the edge of the beds. I just get a bit "paranoid" when crumbs are on the floor in my hotel room (ants seem to be attracted to crumbs!). In making my concern known to the front desk staff, I asked if the room could be vacuumed. I was informed that due to COVID-19 safety protocols, no one could come into the room. Though I was offered another room, by this time, after driving to Gainesville and eating dinner and having already wiped down the room, I was a bit tired and didn't feel up to changing rooms and then having to do another wipe down. So, I asked for a vacuum instead so that I could just vacuum the crumbs myself (this was the first time I've had to vacuum my hotel room). A staff member brought the vacuum to the room for me and waited outside the door while I vacuumed. Though I don't have a problem with cleaning up, I don't expect to have to do that upon check-in at the hotel; I don't expect to have to clean up behind someone else. Additionally, the morning of checkout, I noticed an "insect" on the floor in the bathroom. I can say for sure that if I had seen this insect the first night, I definitely would have changed rooms, regardless of how exhausted I was. In any case, upon informing the front desk staff of this, they did apologize, though I never heard directly from the manager regarding the issues during my stay. All in all, the staff was pleasant and I appreciate that, but when I check into a hotel, I expect that the floor will be vacuumed, the drawers to the nightstand will be clean, and there will not be any critters in the room. I was informed that the manager would respond to my concerns, but I am still waiting on this. If I do hear back from the manager, I will post an update. In the meantime, I would suggest not only bringing your Lysol and wipes but perhaps some insect spray as well - just in case. Of note, though the bed was comfortable, I wasn't satisfied with the small pillows on the bed, which reminded me of "throw pillows." read more

This place was absolutely revolting. The shower was disgusting, a ring was around the toilet and sink. Not only was the bedding grimy, They gave me scabies from not washing the bedding from the people prior. I would rather sleep in the actual swamp than ever have to step foot in this hotel again. I do not recommend unless you want mites to burrow in your skin and spend 100+ on medication and fumigation to get rid of and possibly forget that you ever stayed in this hell-hole. read more

It's a typical 3 star hotel structurally but the heart and soul of this 5 star review lies in the staff. Room is standard. No frills but comfy. Large size room that has a safe and small kitchenette with microwave and mini fridge. Bedding was very very comfy!!!! Again it was the staff that truly made our stay outstanding. We're we're here when Ian came through. Luckily Gainesville was spared. I was working remotely. The hotel WiFi kept me connected and they even extended a late checkout so I could finish my virtual meetings from the comfort of my room rather than the lobby. The entire staff were kind, courteous and helpful. Our son attends school in the area so we will definitely be coming back and when we do, will stay here! read more

We were very happy to return to this Comfort Inn having stayed there before. When you walk into a place expecting a good experience and meeting those expectations, it is a good thing when you travel for a living. The fresh popcorn machine in the lobby is a nice touch! The spacious suite with private king bedroom allows the opportunity for separate interests to be pursued if traveling with a companion, even if that is simply watching separate television programs. The living area has a sizable pullout couch and easy chair. The room also comes complete with microwave, fridge, and coffee machine. If you feel like relaxing in the sun you need only to pop outside and sit poolside. The staff were all very pleased to be helpful, the room was exactly what we needed, and the location was near to plenty of shopping and dining with close access to I-75. Hmmmmm.....like a previous reviewer stated I'm not sure we are reviewing the same place. We came here with low expectations due to the Yelp reviews but we were not paying as we were visiting family so we showed up anyways. I must say the most important things were clean including the beds (linen) and bathroom. The front desk staff as well as the day staff maintenance man were top notch with respect to customer service. Breakfast was free so I'm not going to complain about that. It had fat free yogurt and hard boiled eggs, I'm good. Also, coffee was surprisingly good even for my picky wife. The hallways had a pleasant smell to them as did our room but our relative's adjoining room had a musky mildew smell and after seeing her room I narrowed it down to the bathroom (visible mildew). Pay attention to the good reviews because they were years ago. I recently (July 2014) stayed at this hotel. It was overpriced. I paid $100 for one night. I orginally had a 2 night reservation, but promptly checked out the next morning. If it was not so late when my boyfriend and I got in, we would not have even stayed the one night. There was a roach in our room and the plumbing was not up to par. We took shower/baths because the water would not go down the drain. I would have given more than one star, if the response from the front desk agent was remotely helpful. I told her about the problems and she just wrote them down. She did not offer a free night stay, money off our stay, extras....I mean nothing. I then explained that we would be checking out because of the problems and the fact that no one wanted to address them. This hotel is in the middle of a host of hotels. Choose one of those instead. They will probably be cheaper, cleaner and have better customer service! read more

Had to go to Gainesville for my Mother-in-Law's surgery at Shands UF. Had booked a room at Sleep Inn, upon arriving on Jan 16th, found out that the hotel was without phone/internet/TV, so Taylor at Sleep Inn transferred our reservations to their sister property Comfort Inn. They provided us with an additional discount on top of the hospital rate for the inconvenience. Plus we had to extend our stay longer than expected, the whole staff was very helpful in extending our stay on a day to day basis. They provided a ride to the hospital on Sat on a day when their shuttle normally doesn't run. Rooms were clean, convenient location next to shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again if ever the need. read more

The Comfort Inn University location is Gainesville turned out to be just what I was looking for. The best in quality, comfort, and location. The staff was very pleasant all around. I was allowed to check in early. While many of the rooms were still being cleaned, they front desk made sure I was able to get into my room immediately -- a very nice gesture that went above and beyond. The room was spacious and very clean. All the standard amenities, but also a mini-fridge and a microwave. A nice perk, considering I had leftovers from lunch and, later, dinner. The location couldn't be better. Right off of the interstate, it's also located right by plenty of restaurants and shopping. I was able to easily run a variety of errands and grab food before returning to the hotel. The Comfort Inn University location also offers a pool, fitness room, free wi-fi, as well as breakfast every morning. There are also snacks and coffee available in the lobby all day. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing stay. Would definitely recommend. read more

Stayed here on 3/10 and 3/11 2015 while in town visiting the grand kids Chose this hotel because I stayed there once before in 2010 and it was great. No complaints this time, but after reading other reviews I feel like we must be talking about two different places or our expectations just aren't as high as some. I'll puzzle over this existential question on my own time. For now let me say our room was clean, everything worked as intended, the breakfast area was clean and the food served was typical and on par with other breakfast included places in this price range. The staff was helpful and friendly and we had no complaints with noise or anything else. Was this the best hotel/motel I've ever stayed in? No, but for $87 a night for two people it was certainly more than adequate for our needs. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when I'm back visiting my grandsons the next time read more

Where do I start? I booked this hotel for business as the company I work for said they may be a good place to stay given the fact that they're pretty close to the my job. Prior to booking the reservation, I specifically asked if the area was quiet and if there was laundry service where more than a few people could wash laundry at one time and the associate answered "yes" to both. I checked in on Saturday and was awakened to loud rap music around 8am Sunday morning. The music was so loud that I couldn't tell which room it was coming from. I had checked in late the night before and was hoping to sleep in; however, this didn't happen. The next night, I was awakened in the middle of the night to an alarm clock buzzing in the room next door to mine. I called the front desk around 3am and the noise stopped but later started again until about 5am. The third night, I was once again awakened to the slamming of hotel room doors and housekeeping knocking on doors yelling "housekeeping". Today is my last night and I have yet to have a peaceful night sleep. To make matters worse, I wanted to wash my clothes before returning home and was only able to find one laundry room with one washer and one dryer. Someone's close had been sitting in the washer for over an hour. When I finally walked back to the laundry room to see if the clothes had been removed, the guy who owned the clothes in the washer was putting clothes in the dryer and had an entire closet full of clothes he was trying to wash. I was so upset that I contacted the front desk and told the front desk associate that I booked this hotel with only TWO concerns: that the hotel was quiet and that there was more than one washer and dryer. I told the associate that, as a common courtesy, the laundry room should be available to all guests and not for one person and to clean out their entire closet. She then told me that there was nothing she could do and never apologize. I told her that she needs to let that person know that others need to be able to wash as well. The hotel isn't a home, it's a HOTEL and should be treated as such. The associate told me to contact her manager Rosa who wasn't even on staff. I would NOT recommend this hotel to NOBODY!! They lie to book rooms and then play the victim when they're called out on it. My employer brings a lot of money to this hotel chain; however, I will be making sure that this hotel chain is take off the list of hotels suitable for my employees. This is unacceptable. read more

I was very impressed by my stay here. The room was comfortably designed and laid out, the shower head was good, and there was ample counter space in the bathroom, all things that I look for and value in a hotel room. The room and public areas were very clean and pleasant, and an additional bonus was the free popcorn made fresh in a machine in the lobby! Excellent hotel all around. I recently stayed at this hotel on my way to Miami FL. Doing a long drive this was a nice stop and halfway in our drive. We got a little behind schedule and did not check in until around 2am and then left around 7am. The room was very large and roomy with a clean bathroom and beds! The only complaint was that the walls of the room were bare and had marks form nails in the wall. Other than that no complaints. The staff was very friendly even at 2am! Would stay there again! The newly remodeled pet - friendly rooms are great! Finally rooms with laminate floors, not carpeting. They're still redoing other rooms so common areas are a bit messy but should be great when they're all done. Location is close to every restaurant known to man. This place needs an overhaul! It's tired run down and dirty! My first room smelled like bleach and mold! The AC made it worse! The faucets had I'm hoping spattered lotion because the other thought was worse! Long black hairs in the shower stuck to the wall! The second room all the sockets had about a 1/4 in of dust on them. The bathroom fan was filthy! The internet rarely worked. The dining room tables had sticky stuff built up on the edges. And I think they use armed all to make things oily and sticky like the furniture in the room! The good news is there were no bed bugs! No stars from me! read more

After making our reservation through the Choice website, we arrived at the hotel in the early evening, only to find that the reservation was for 10 days from our planned stay. The reservation was a non-refundable reservation, and when we called the Choice help line, there was nothing they could do. HOWEVER, Barbara, the desk clerk contacted her manager, and together they were able to figure it out, so we wouldn't lose our pre-payment, and could instead use it for our stay. My stay was decent until I went to the little fitness room. There was a treadmill, an elliptical, and two machines. One machine had an Out-of-Order sign, the treadmill squeaked, and I thought the elliptical was going to break any second. If we would have had more time to choose a hotel, I would have read more reviews and passed on this place due to the workout room. Everything else was just okay. The shower was set up weird, they only gave shampoo and not conditioner, and the beds were a bit uncomfortable. The walls were also paper thin... I'm a deep sleeper, but my fiancé kept getting woken up by the loud neighbors and I could hear a lady on the phone as I got ready in the bathroom. Unless you get a great deal and don't need to workout, go elsewhere. read more

Since retiring we are on the road frequently and stayed at this Comfort Inn after leaving the Orlando area. We have always been pleased with the cleanliness and cost of a room at this chain until we stayed at this particular facility. The room smelled musty and mildewed. There was hair on the floor of the bathroom and although the bed was comfortable, the staff accommodating, and the area convenient I would not return to this motel until some updating was done. Booked a room three months in advance through Hotwire. Made sure the hotel had pet friendly rooms and booked that room. When I arrived, the initial clerk checked me in and as my wife, two daughters and I were headed to our room, some other person appeared out of the lounge and said we had to be checked into a pet-friendly room instead of the one already assigned to us. Problem was the had already sold all of those rooms and this person claimed Hotwire did not tell them I had requested a room that would accommodate pets. Bottom-line was that this guy wouldn't check us in and we ended up having to go to another hotel at 12:30 am. Comfort Inn and Hotwire have seen the last of my business. read more

This is my favorite hotel in the area. The rooms are very nice and modern, the location is priceless, you are 3 minutes away from all stores, restaurants and bars. Dont forget upon arrival they always have popcorn cookies and candy which my kids absolutely adore and candy treats in the evening. The continental breakfast is amazing especially the biscuits and gravy and the coffee is one of my favorites and trust me when I say I am very particular with my morning coffee. The staff is the best of any hotel I have ever stayed but one person in particular always stands out to me every time I stay here which is at least 2 to 3 x a year. Rod is always attending the breakfast station mainly and he is always so helpful, sweet, so polite, and involved with all the customers, he really puts an extra something special to our stay. He really is an amazing asset to this company and I always look forward to seeing him at breakfast when we stay. Today they even have a tailgating party downstairs before the gators game with food and drinks. That really it's amazing and free shuttle to the game. That was an amazing idea guys. I dont have to drive or buy lunch before i go to the game. Love it. They have a customer w me and my whole family for years to come. read more

I've stayed here 3 weekends in a row & we stayed in the largest suites & we're very very pleased with our stay. I know that Gator Hospitality purchased this hotel last Spring & apparently they have renovated the motel based on earlier 2014 reviews. Is highly recommend this hotel without hesitancy.
