We moved into a new home which had 3 thermostat systems that had 3 thermostats. They don't all operate the same way which of course I learned installing Nest Thermostats. I reached out to Jay's Heating and Cooling this morning and within 10 minutes they reached out. I explained what was going on and they dispatched a tech in less than 90 minutes. Dave came out and went right to work investigating the system, what we had, and the way it was setup. 15-20 minutes later he had it all figured out and was on his way. He also explained a few things to help us manage the house temps, air flow and what type of filter we had along with how often to change it out. Extremely helpful and friendly. Home damage restoration company uses them. I had no choice and really wanted my own HVAC company that I've used since 2002. If I could have given ZERO stars, I would have! Home restoration was done while I was out of my home due to no A/C. See the photos--this is how they re-installed my air handler! It's not connected to the vent-duct above. Huge gap between ceiling and plenum which was leaking condensation into the air handler cubby and on the floor. I was away from home and fortunately returned home early and turned off the air handler! There was alot of water on the floor and in the cubby for only being on about 2 hours! My HVAC company said the condensation leak would not have been detected by the auto shut off and continued to leak. If I had returned the next late afternoon as planned, the water/condensation would have flooded my kitchen floor and LR and dining room. The waterlines for Apollo heat (from your hot water heater) were not connected and left uncapped. I would not have had any heat!! I would not use nor recommend them!! read more

Our a/c died on a very hot Sunday afternoon. We contacted our regular HVAC guy who was not able to come out until Friday. That wasn't gonna work, so Monday morning I used Yelp to help me find and contact another company. Jason emailed me withing 30 minutes offering to come out Tuesday afternoon. That made us REALLY happy. Taylor followed up with scheduling and letting us know his status 30 minutes before arrival. He not only fixed our a/c problem, but checked the entire system and gave us some advice about how to maintain it. The charge for this was less expensive than we expected. We are delighted with the company's quality work, reasonable cost and the hard-working local owners. It's also terrific to work with a locally owned business that gets their work via referrals instead of the national companies that get their work based on advertising and marketing. Last year I got Jay's Heating and Air to come out to do a spring check up and cleaning on my AC unit. I also asked them to change the filters, which I had, because you have to have a tall ladder to reach my vents. The man was very nice, however, he did not clean the outside unit as I was told, he only used water, not the cleaning spray. I found out recently he even put one of my filters in backwards, so all of the dust and dirt went back into the vents. No air was filtered through this vent at all. When I recently called about it, the lady said oh, well, we can send someone out this year to do a cleaning and check up and see if there was any damage. No mention of any discount or anything since the man last year did not perform their cleaning as stated. I was very disappointed and will not use them again in the future. The only reason I used them was because of their good reviews here. I was not even told there would be an additional 3 plus % charge to use a credit card. This is a Revised review. I received a call from the owner, Jason, regarding my review. He offered to come out and check everything for me at no charge. Wow, was he wonderful. He explained everything about my unit, what it needed, did the checks, outside and inside, cleaned the hoses, advised me about the filters, even gave me a new roll of tape to use on the inside unit. He was extremely nice, and spent a lot of time going over everything. I really appreciate Jason calling me to ask if there was some way to resolve the above issues. His calling me, as he is the owner, represents how he concerned he was regarding what had happened. I wish every business took the time, like Jason, to contact the customer and see if there was anything they could do to resolve any issues. I heard of Jason about 3 years ago from a local community board. My AC wasn't working in my rental property and I called Jason. Jay's heating and air conditioning has been a breath of fresh air to deal with. I have never felt more secure on decisions about what needs to occur and what DOESN'T need to occur with my system. I have used them over the past few years and every time I need them they were there for me almost instantly. I'm happy to say I have never had to use their emergency service but they usually schedule me in next day. Taylor is amazing! He teaches you as he evaluates what the issue may be and he never never tries to upsell me. Today there could have been two major problems with my system. I suggested we just go ahead and fix both things and he said but it might not be either. So he suggested a watch and wait approach because he got it working just fine for now. I have lived in the Raleigh for many years and, as much as possible, I try to do most of the maintenance and repairs on items in our home myself. I try to know my limits however, especially with regard to safety. Recently I had a problem with the oldest of our two furnaces. After doing my best, it still would not provide heat. I checked Yelp and selected Jay's Heating and Cooling as our first choice. I called Jason and he came to our home quickly. He soon found the relay that was at fault, fixed it, and then spent almost an hour inspecting the rest of our furnace inside and out. At each step he told me what he was doing and gave me evaluations of the condition of our furnace (with regard to heating AND air conditioning). In the end when I asked him what his charge was going to be, he said that there would be no charge. In essence he said that he did not believe that he had done very much. I disagree. When he came we had no heat; when he left we did. We will need some maintenance of our air conditioning units in the spring. Guess who we are going to call? When we called Jay's, Jason came out quickly. More important I found him to be genuinely interested in helping us, very knowledgeable, willing to answer questions, and (very important) honest. I have never reviewed a company, but really wanted to for the service I received. My AC went out on a Friday and I called several companies that could not visit until Monday. I contacted Jay's Saturday morning (by finding it on Yelp) and was hoping for same day service since it was reaching 90 degrees. They contacted me very soon after and they were able to make a visit the same day. They kept me informed as to when they would stop by and, when Taylor arrived, he was very nice and polite. Thankfully, all I needed was freon. Freon for my older unit is pretty pricey but is the standard cost from all the companies I called. The service fee was $75 and he was in and out of my condo within 10 minutes. Overall, great service and speed. I will certainly use Jay's again if needed. read more

Jason was recommended from a friend. I called in the evening and he was there the next afternoon. He called 30 minutes beforehand so I could leave work and meet him. The first thing Jason did was show me a few setting on my thermostat that would save me lots of money on my heating bill. Then he went to check out my broken AC. He said I actually needed an electrician because the problem with my AC had to do with the breaker. He immediately set up an appointment with the electrician and they were there within the hour. Jason then did the maintenance service on my AC (which was needed - it had been a few years) and charged a very reasonable price. My AC was up and running and well maintained by 5 that day. I live in an apt and last summer (2015) my AC went out. I reported the issue to management who first had their on-site maintenance staff try to fix it. It worked for a day or two and went out again as well as my roof started leaking unexpectedly. It was determined the HVAC drip pan was not installed properly (not sure if this was done by Jay's or another company), which resulted in water to overspill. Management contacted Jay's Heating and Cooling to come out to fix the issue. Jay's did some work on the HVAC system, but after a couple weeks I had no AC again. Jay's Heating & Cooling came once again. After several days I was told they were installing an entire new HVAC system. It was on a Friday mid August I was told I would have AC for the weekend. I get home to find the tech they left in charge took off without finishing the work while leaving both my front and back doors open. My front door was unlocked, but the back door was standing wide open for anyone to walk in. The tech also left the old unit blocking my front door. With the management office closed for the weekend, I contacted the emergency line. Someone from Jay's called within an hour and gave me two options; they would be out to fix the mistake in a few hours or they could walk me through finishing the work. I took the latter option and climbed in the attic to follow instructions. I thought this would be the end of my bad experience. However, this past Memorial Day (2016) I wake up and noticed my roof was leaking AGAIN (worse than the previous time). Went through the same steps of contacting management who told me Jay's would be out to fix it. I was once again told the drip was not installed properly so more water spilled over from in the attic. The AC worked a few a days, but I get home this past Friday (6/3/16) with no AC. I sent a text message to Jay's Heating and Cooling that read verbatim "I'm disappointed in your work on my unit. I plan to let management know they should find another company to do better work". Because of this message Jay's refused to come fix/finish the issue. Another company was called out on Saturday (6/4/16). The tech from this new company said it was the sloppiest job he has ever seen and that the HVAC unit that was installed last summer was not even level. I asked the management office to send me a detail list of what had to be done to correct what Jay's couldn't do, but they have yet to send me anything. read more
