No water. These people expect me to stay here and sleep well with no water and cockroaches crawling up the drains. I went to ask about the water and they said they anticipate a big mess for their maids (haha). They offered us to go to the hotel next door at 2am but we were told the water would be back on by 10 pm. The hotel behind us also has no water. It's 5 am and I am not about to pack my stuff up and go next door just to shower. We need to sleep. We expected a clean shower. There are tiny cockroaches in the bathroom. **BEWARE - BED BUGS - STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK.** It was 10pm. We are travelers. My husband nearing a Diamond Choice member for the second year. We were greeted with an abundance of late night suspicious community member activity all around with no security patrol in sight. I asked the front desk gal directly, "do cars get broken into here?", she responded with something along the lines of, "it's my first week here, i'm not too sure". Fair response. Felt obligated to do research on the area. Found the sheer amount of negative reviews of this place and the area. From statistics of Amarillo having some of the highest crime rates in Texas, to reviews of car break ins and bed bugs. We got to our room, 303. It reeked of cat urine. We removed the bed sheets and inspected the insides of the slouched mattress corners. Bed bugs. Inconcievable. We flew down to the front desk exceeding the speed of sound. The front desk gal claimed she is new, but what we know she is, is a human. This wasn't her fault and therefore wasn't treated as such. She told us she had no idea how to react, what to do, and was genuinly, truly sorry; we let her know we needed a refund and a receipt. She took care of this and requested we send her photos of the bed bugs so she can pass it along to her manager. I'm hoping this can ensure they will take care of this unbelievable failure... ensure they will do better for the customer... But if they havn't already, what will? 12am. Tired. Exhausted. Unhinged. We drove further down to Wichita Falls and found a clean safe place to stay. We learned alot from this experience. For example, we learned about dumpster fires. No towels in the room, when I went to the desk to ask for some was told I had to "check them out". Only allowed 2 for K room and 3 for double room. Also told they were out of hand towels because they had all been stolen. Upon going to the pool, saw the hallway lined with numerous bags full of dirty linens. read more

We booked a room here as it was a good stopping point on our drive from Lehi, Utah to Houston, Texas, and most other hotels were booked. We checked in around 10:30 pm. I knew once we entered the elevator that we'd made a mistake. The interior was dated, dirty, and smelled as such. With 3 kids in tow, we unfolded the sofa bed and immediately saw several very large blood stains. There were no linens included for the sofa bed. Obviously, we immediately folded it right back up, but on both of the queen sized beds, there were (much smaller) blood stains on the sheets. The final straw was the thin walls-- we could not get any sleep and ended up back on the road at 1:30 am. When I book a Comfort Suites, I'm not expecting luxury-- but for $150/night, I expect a bit more cleanliness, and some moderate peace to get some rest. read more

Lol Sooooo to start with this is one of our best overall experiences at a Hotel... The bad first the working the lobby was solo which I will explain in a second why that was bad followed with a pic The room itself was good, spacious air conditioning was awesome and cool! The bad there was no coffee maker in the room, no wash clothes and only two large towels and a lamp did not work which no biggie. The funny part and is someone from the hotel reads this please be advised that the washer next to room 216 is connected to the toilet and causes the soap bubbles to come out of the toilet on the bathroom floor. I went into the room to shower and to my surprise white soap was flowing from the toilet onto the floor, which is the hard part of one girl working alone, we couldn't call her the phone was busy so I went downstairs she apologized and I got several medium towels from her to clean up the soap myself. She did offer to move us to another room, but this was 10pm and we had to the up early so not a big deal. Round one was cleaned up and I left towels on the floor just incase. We went to bed around 11:10pm and heard someone start up the washer (which is not supposed to be used after 10pm) and all the sudden we heard the toilet water drain, and a soapy sound lol yep! Two more rounds of soap on their floor! Our trip to CA was full of mishaps and was stressful, so this we could do nothing more than laugh at... We hope to come and spend a couple three days as this seems like a good place to get some much needed quiet time. read more

This comfort suites is about four years old, pretty modern but basically the same floor design as all comfort suites. Nice pool area, they need to get some chlorine in the pool. Our suite was very nice, however their cable TV was not working correctly, and they did apologize. Although this was a new hotel, it wasn't as nice as the older comfort suites. Room was good for $89 and ended up being $102 after all of the fees. We walked in no reservations and she had a double room. Once we arrived at the room found the toilet inoperable so I had to go back down and get another room. The clerk swapped us very quickly. Nice place. Side note and NO reflection on this hotel. We had a bbq grille strapped down on a rack on the Suburban and some POS stole in in between 10 pm ane 7 am off the back. Watch your goodies. read more

For the area, it works! I booked a last minute reservation for the week while traveling to visit family. I typically book with Choice Hotels, since it's the more economical option without lowering standards to scary Motel 6 quality. Honestly, it all depends on who manages the hotel chain. When I arrived at Comfort Suites, we had a very late check in around 11pm due to being on the road for 17hrs. The lady at the front desk was incredibly nice and got us setup quickly, so we could go get some much needed rest. There's some Pros & cons to this hotel. Pros: Clean Room Housekeeping changed our sheets daily Spacious Rooms Working amenities Warm shower Hot Breakfast Indoor Pool and 'Hot tub' Cool 1920's cars in the front Large clean lobby Close to 40 & a lot of restaurants The staff always greeted us when entering or exiting Cons: Parking was always an issue after 6pm. A lot of contractors stay here, and they park like ginormous assholes and take up multiple spaces with their trailers. Keycards to our room had to be reset daily, which in one case was a major issue when I was feeling sick and needed to get to the room quickly, but I couldn't get in. While they have a pool, it's creepy. Red lights, mysterious steam from the sauna and shark/dolphin-esque looking mosaics are at the bottom of the pool. Ok, so that's not a con really, but it's hilarious. You should check it out. Breakfast can be questionable.... A couple mornings it was great! One morning, it was a giant pan of raw bacon. The stay was ok, peeps. If you're looking for limited frills, or are passing through, this will hit the spot, but if you're looking to dish out some bucks for ambiance.... there's some more expensive options available for you in the area. read more

Just checked into a room that doesn't look like it has been cleaned in days. Vomit stain on the floor, tissue stuck to the wall, toilet and bathroom was not clean. Trash on the floor. Absolutely disgusting, and when I brought this to the attention to the front desk I was told "well we our night shift, there is nothing we can do." I'm not one to right reviews, in fact this is my first Yelp review. But I am extremely disappointed that a hotel would conduct itself like this during a pandemic. I hope changes are made. read more

We got in around 9pm during a road trip. The hotel looks somewhat new, the room is spacious but the carpet seemed a bit dirty - has lots of stains and some dirt on it. Well, due to our son having certain special needs, we always cover the floor with flat sheets so that was not as big of an issue as it would be for some people. We do like the spacious room we got (2 queen none-smoking). The room was mostly clean - a couple of spots were slightly dusty, but if like the other reviewer said, Amarillo is a windy city, I understand why the room could easily became dusty. Our room is on the second floor and it was pretty quiet - thankfully. I was disappointed, though, when I saw the old towels in the bathroom and there was 1 wash cloth missing. You would think for a pretty much brand-new hotel in this grade level, the towels would be of much better quality. And the tissue box has only 1 single tissue left, so after I've used that one, the tissue box was empty. There's a big blood-looking stain on the shower curtain and some dark red spots on the top reservoir lid of the toilet (which I wiped off with a tissue). Since we are not really going to touch it again, I let it go. For the price range (we booked thru hotels.com and paid under $86 + tax) and for the level of updates for a hotel, it was a pretty good pick for the area. We look forward to enjoy the pool in the morning. Not expecting much for the free breakfast but we're glad it is offered. Hopefully I wouldn't need to update my review after we leave. ;) read more

We had a horrible night of sleep here. We chose it because we have five in our family and needed the pull out sofa. It's basically a metal grid with zero mattress left, it was awful. The hotel was so loud until we'll after 2am, doors slamming, people running (and jumping and slamming into walls?). The room wasn't clean. The tile was gross and cracked in the bathroom. The carpet smelled like someone spilled beer on it and they couldn't get it out. I can't recommend it. read more

Computer system was down when we got there, so they made a photocopy of my mom's credit card and license, which made me nervous, but they gave us the copy and receipt the next day when we checked out. Walls are pretty thin so if you have noisy neighbors, you'll hear them. Thankfully, we didn't have that issue. But, the fire alarm went off twice between 530am and 630am. Was just a false alarm. Breakfast was unappealing. Just had cereal and milk. Couldn't look at the eggs for more than 2 seconds. Staff was nice and friendly. Elevator is slow. Got a two bed suite for $119.00 + tax, which was an upgrade. Nice beds, good AC, slow internet connection at night but faster in the morning. read more

We have stayed here before and it's always been clean and quiet. This visit has not been so pleasant starting with the front desk no warm greeting and when you ask for assistance the evening clerk acts like it's an inconvenience. Maintenence appears like it's not an on going up keep, the upholstery on the sofa and chair need cleaning and the washer machine is broken, the shower has soap scum on the shower wall. Although it may not be the hotel's responsibly the noise from both sides and up stairs is annoying. We have always stayed at Comfort Suites because it was well maintained unfortunately this will not be a place we return too. read more

I have been a Choice Hotel diamond member since 2002 and have been to this hotel several times over the years. It has turned into a nasty, sloppily ran Schitts Creek type of "Hotel/Motel". The main manager has zero customer service skills. I was given a room with a broken air unit and was given no expression of regret or another room. I begged for a room and 2 days later was given one. The room had no fire alarm, the furniture was in disrepair and the carpet was filthy. I received room service once after I was told I would have it everyday. They have their children at the front desk along with their dog. If you like the third world country atmosphere this hotel is for you. read more

This was the first Comfort Suites I stayed at and I was impressed. Sadly, it set the bar so high that I was extremely disappointed by the next Comfort Suites I visited (Ventura blvd in Amarillo). After fleeing the quality inn due to a shirtless man already inhabiting my room, I got this on a price breaker. I went to check in, the lady was very nice and helpful. Since Priceline is super vague, my son and I ended up with one king. She switched us to a room with two queens, and we went up. The rooms were super clean, but when I tried to use the toilet it got clogged. We got a plunger and tried to fix it, but that didn't work so the front desk lady switched us quickly to a room right next to it and we moved. The new room had perfectly good plumbing and we had a good rest. The remote was missing, but you could control it with the tv and I could've gone and asked for a new remote if I really cared. Overall, great staff and clean rooms, would recommend! Breakfast bar was closed due to Covid but they still had some packaged stuff and coffee to fuel up in the morning read more

I'm only giving 2 stars. One for each of the 2 ladies that made our stay pleasant! Evelyn (front desk clerk) and Christy (she was the kitchen/ breakfast lady - although I'm sure she did more) Those two ladies were AWESOME and very personable and extremely helpful! Despite the catalytic converter on the rental truck we had being stolen on their (Patels) property, they refused to help and said it wasn't their problem. In addition, the hotel is dingy, dirty, has filthy stains on EVERY part of the carpet in the lobby, the furniture in the rooms and lobby are outdated AND have holes/tears/rips, the carpet in the room wasn't vacuumed in forever, a huge plastered hole in the bathroom ceiling. Filthy couches in the room - a good home for bed bugs. It was awful. Like stepping back in time. Again, I'd like to give a personal shout out to Evelyn and Christy because without them, I probably would have busted all the windows out that bitch! Then they would have had to buy something new. We checked in and got room 408, at first we thought it was the neighbors so we called the front desk as I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from, THE FLOOR WAS SHAKING AND THE WINDOW WAS RATTLING. The clerk said she would give a courtesy call to the neighbors. i was fine with that. Roughly 25 mins later the NOISE GOT LOUDER and I called the office again and asked to be moved or my money back. She stated that she would check on another room then came back and said the hotel was almost full (NOT FULL) and they couldn't move me. So i asked her to come to the room. She came, walked in the room and says its the people under us! She left saying that she would personally go down there and clear it up! Ok, i"m still good! So, I go to join my family at the pool, we get back and OMG now its really loud! Called the front desk again this time I demand to be moved OR I'm leaving. I'm all about customer service so at this point I would have taken a different room and been ok BUT........... 1. The front clerk says the manager is not on duty 2. They can't give me my money back 3. Can't move me because the hotel is ALMOST full 4. hotels.com spoke with the manager on duty and he gave them an attitude as well and told her there was nothing he could do then he finally offered a different room. I went to go check that room out before having my family move and that room had noise issues as well!!! SO......... We left and got another hotel without getting a refund!!!!! They pay more attention to their kids then their customers staying at their hotel. The free breakfast is free because they serve the same shitty breakfast everyday. We picked this hotel for our road trip night stop because of its proximity to a mall and the free breakfast. Who wants to hunt for food when you're getting in late and leaving early? The hotel looks and smells new and is positively spacious, from the suite-style rooms to the carpeted stairwells. The exercise room has a variety of machines and the pool room has an artfully designed pool and hot tub, with space left over for sunbathing in the artificial lights. I was hoping for an outdoor pool, but thankful that the enclosure didn't smell like a pool store with a new shipment of chlorine. It was actually quite pleasant until a busload of families took it over. Speaking of which, the hotel seemed to be practically full. Our room was on the fourth floor (top level), and we had a quiet, peaceful stay, unlike some other reviewers. The front desk staff was super young and seemed fairly bored. Not much happening on a Friday night. Okay, as far as the mall and included breakfast: the "mall" is a strip center baking in the paved heat, but it does have a few restaurants, including an excellent Asian one (see my adjacent review), and a froyo shop. The hotel breakfast wasn't appealing unless you like reheated Walmart freezer food. Do people actually eat this? Is it classified as genuine food, or a reasonable facsimile? I settled for raisin bran. The wind was blowing really hard as we left that morning, and there was a distinct odor of cow dung wafting about outside. So I guess there are good reasons for having an indoor pool in Amarillo after all. read more

We went to look for a room for visiting friends. The desk personnel were not friendly at all. Neither were they rude, just acted like they didn't care. They foyer was clean, but seems like there was not much business. I didn't care for the atmosphere, it was cold and unwelcoming. I called them later to cancel reservation proceedings and no one ever answered the phone, so I went by and they were away from the desk. I waited awhile and finally they came into the dining area and the girl saw me and came over. I will not try this place again because of the attitude and atmosphere, no matter how nice it may be. read more

The electrical outlet in the bathroom would not work (or reset). Two of the lamps would not work. Our room and the entire hotel had a musty smell. Great place...walked in during our travels and got a room with 2 queen beds for $130. We slept in so we missed the complimentary breakfast from 6-9am but it looked good from the pictures. I debated between giving this hotel 3 or 4 stars. The pros: There are many hotels at cheap rates in Amarillo ($65-100), but this one was by far the newest/nicest in that category. Check in was fast and the lobby and rooms were very clean. The room was also very big, with a sitting area and decent sized bathroom. Came with fridge and microwave. Also they don't allow pets or smoking (pros in my book). Cons: The walls are very thin and you can hear people talking in even normal voices, as well as TVs, through the room walls and even in the hallways. Fortunately we didn't have any problems with this between midnight and 6am. The room heater didn't work so we had to switch rooms (to be fair they did this fairly quickly). I noticed the quality of the two rooms were different. The first room was missing some towels, while the second room was missing pillows. The room was for 4 people but they only stocked it for 2-3. The rooms smelled like feet (I think this was just the cleaning supplies, but still...). Also part of my sheets smelled like strong perfume, which made me think either they hadn't been changed or the maid rubbed her arm all over them. The breakfast seemed ok, but was not good at all. Compared to other places the eggs and sausage were very poor quality and tasted bland. They were out of orange juice and a little girl coughed all over the juice machine. Also the breakfast attendant threw away my drink before I even drank any of it. Pool and hot tub had a millions kids in it. Wifi kept going in and out. Summary: Over all this was an okay bang for your buck. But there were too many little things that set it back. read more

This place is NOT FOLLOWING COVID-19 protocols at all. Our bed linens for the pull out bed were dirty, blood stains on a pillow (didn't see it until we were leaving), bathroom door didn't close, and the customer service is horrible. They have a 12 year old running the front desk- with her trusty dog bouncing around all over the place. The manager is MIA- don't expect to have anything taken care of. We have stayed here before and it was a much better experience. Needless to say, the management is in serious need of improvement or they need NEW MANAGEMENT. We will not stay here again. I left a note and asked for the manager to call me- no call. I called back twice and still no call. Bed was very comfy and breakfast had lots of options but the place was dirty. The pull out bed had a golf ball size stain on the mattress looked like blood. Had to go get our own sheets for it. Curtain had a big stain looked like blood. Pulled back the covers and found hair in the bed. Head hair and mystery hair. Little curly ones at the end of the bed under the covers. Eww big white stain on the bed skirt by the head of the bed. Was in the shower at 9 am and the fire alarm went off twice. TV is in a bad place not in front of the beds. Plug on lamp didn't work. The important thing was that the bed was really comfortable and I slept good. But I didn't like all the gross stains and hair. My family already booked the place to stay at again on our way back home maybe I'll get a cleaner room. read more

I am a Choice Privileges Member and have stayed here several times. We had a very disappointing experience while staying at Comfort Suites 12 Western Plaza Drive, in Amarillo to visit family during the Thanksgiving holidays. After arrival, we discovered a putrid, persistent & nauseating odor emanating from our restroom. We informed the front desk and requested a new room. We were told the hotel was full and there was nothing available, but that another room would open up the next day. Although disappointing, that was understandable and an acceptable response under the circumstances. We left early the following morning to visit family. Upon our return, we went back to the front desk to get the key to our new room. We were told that the "system" wouldn't allow a change at that time; it was apparently too late in the day. I explained to the manager that this was a pre-approved request and that it wasn't based on preference, it was a request based on unacceptable conditions in our current room. Even though there were other rooms available, including the room directly across the hall, the manager refused to allow us to change based on whatever accounting process she believed to be insurmountable. This was a completely unacceptable response. The next morning we spoke to the MOD and were changed to a new room immediately. Unfortunately, that response was too little too late. read more

I've never seen staff so disrespectful to their guests. Hotel is very nice and the décor is really aesthetic. However, I made reservations through the Choice Hotels website and got the government rate since I was traveling on business. Got to the hotel and the manager (wife of the head guy) tried to charge me $117. I pulled up my reservation and showed her the rate promised. She continued to tell me she can't change it because her computer is telling her that is the rate? What? I insisted she call someone as I was not paying an extra $30. She did but it was still not the exact right rate. In the end, a more competent girl who was working alongside finally figured it out and got the right reservation from the computer. Yes, the first girl was not even looking at my reservation...hopefully the guy she was looking at got his room for $89 as well. The lady that does the breakfast very unprofessional plus always had to ask for coffee, cream, milk, yogurt etc. we stayed for 4 nights each morning it was something missing for breakfast. Short Hispanic lady very rude and has no people skills. Employees getting to work fill up with coffee take all the creamers and eat before working?? That's rude plus they just got to work I'm not allowed to do that at my job???? It's seems that the employees don't care at all bout themselves. The check in was difficult. Andrew told us the hotel did not have any extra pillows for the pull out bed and they did not have bottled water for purchase. He asked for a credit card to put the soda we purchased on it and said he couldn't charge it to the room, he said they only took a credit card or cash. The next day, it had been charged to our room.
