Very clean Hotel and breakfast is pretty good. Quality of service is also good. I do recommend this hotel.

Definitely the worst Fairfield I've walked into in a long time. The rooms have an off-putting smell, and it seems like they just threw a coat of paint on it, hoping you wouldn't notice how old and run-down it is. I'm shocked by how many folks are okay with this establishment. I'm being so harsh because of the internet connection. I arrived and needed to get on a conference call. My laptop wouldn't connect after 20 minutes of troubleshooting. I went downstairs to the front desk and was told that, for several weeks, they've had trouble connecting laptops to their internet, so I should use my phone. I asked to be moved to another hotel since I couldn't work remotely from my phone. Luckily, they own the other Fairfield in Amarillo Central, which is in much better condition. I would highly recommend finding a different hotel and not staying here. The same rate is available 5 minutes up the road. read more

This hotel is one step away from reaching its potential but one step away from being a motel 6. Seems like they are trying, lobby is the nicest thing here. Rooms aren't horrible but needs improvement. The bathrooms need to be deep cleaned, towels had a yellow tint to it I felt uncomfortable taking a shower and using the towels I ordered my own towels. The beds were comfortable they have an older version of TV and TV stand it has Netflix option but doesn't work. This was super last minute option for us and I honestly wouldn't stay past 2 days. We didn't get a chance to eat breakfast but it's something they brag about lol. Also gym is nice and new. The pool area GROSS, jacuzzi was green. Only reason I'm giving a 3 is because it has potential. read more

Well, not special. The key died. The hair conditioner bottle was non functional. Breakfast disappointing. Eggs , I do not think were eggs. Room had a weird odor. I would like to say generally clean, but the bathtub had dirt that looks like someone tried to rinse away and was unsuccessful. Coffee maker was broken. We did figure out how to fix it. It's conveniently located from the interstate. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service  staff who are working.   I was greeted at the front desk by a young person who was so very positive and that did their best to make sure I got the room I wanted. They suggested a local restaurant for a reasonable good tasting take out and it was outstanding. They also had some to go bags for breakfast. The rooms were clean but nothing special, just fine for a overnight stay. read more

4 stars because the comfy bed, affordable price and free parking is perfect when driving cross country. If you're looking for a hotel to enjoy while traveling, this isn't the place. It is practical. - They have a refrigerator and a microwave. - An office desk. - A nice flatscreen TV with Netflix - Did I say comfy bed with nice quality sheets, comforter, and great soft pillows? - AC/Heat and AC works well didn't try heat - windows that open BUT no screen so keep the sheer curtains closed to prevent the bugs from coming in if the window is open overnight for example. If you're on the first floor probably not safe to have the window open and unattended or at night as the back of the building is dark and not populated and easy to access by random people walking alongside the building. That said this area is not one of concern generally - parking is free and there's plenty of it - lots of food options nearby, great location - very nice employee at the front desk - there's a pool but I didn't use it. It's indoor and small but if you need some exercise could be practical. I booked this because everything else was sold out and would come back if I just needed a place to crash overnight or was on a strictly budgeted type trip. read more

Google maps showed this hotel on the wrong side of the highway. So, we spent some time trying to figure that one out. We'd requested electronic check-in and electronic keys, but this request wasn't honored. The desk clerk was busy with another customer. Then the phone rang and she was busy with the phone customer while we waited, and waited. Then she called the manager about something else while we waited and waited some more. About 30 minutes after we arrived, we were finally allowed to check in. After checking in the desk clerk wanted to give us the rundown on the services available. I just wanted to go to the room. The room was fine, but dated. The heater was turned off so it was freezing. The only soap provided was liquid soap in a shower dispenser. The service at this place was bad. I really wanted to give this place a three star and recommend a stay, but the wonkiness just wouldn't stop. I would likely stay again in the hopes that it was just a one off experience. Here's the melt downs for us: - We waited 15 minutes for someone to appear at the checkout counter. I timed it. I've actually never gone to a hotel where someone wasn't there it close by when the door opened. - The elevators are crazy slow. Maybe the cleaning crew had it locked. One of our peeps eventually hit the stairs. - In the middle of the night it sounded like my door opened. I bolted awake and checked the door. It happened two more times electrifying me awake. In the morning I found out that whenever the AC turned off some valve would squeak shut like a door closing. - There was a used / opened soap and shamooo in the shower. - Someone duct tapped the smoke alarm light and two other LEDs in the room. Grateful for the previous person who did that but depressed that some designer is clueless about the impact of those LED power lights on sleepers. - Big rust stain behind toilet from some long running drip from something metal. I hope. - Every 30 minutes or so the TV would blank. It would take ~5 minutes if turning it off and in before it would resume. Maybe the rain was shorting something out. Too much wonkiness for a well run or repaired operation. read more

This a nice Fairfield. Lady at front counter was very nice. Two small criticisms. #1. Fix the elevator. I thought we were going to be stuck. 2-3 minutes to go three floors with a hard clunk at the top. #2 if the reservation said 3 adults wouldn't it be forward thinking to have more than 2 bath Towels in the room. We got in kinda late. This is a stop over on a longer trip. Check in was a breeze. I was grateful for the ice water and cookies in the lobby. Note: I travel with a service dog and we had no issues at.all.zero! they even have a dog walk area with bags and grass at the back of the parking lot. The facility was clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and the beds were wonderful.. not too hard, not too soft. There were some cosmetic imperfections, but nothing too major. The pool and spa are indoors and looked clean. Unfortunately I didn't get to use them. Breakfast was scrambled eggs (with cheese/ salsa options), canadian bacon, fruit, cereal, breads, a waffle iron (my guilty pleasure) yogurt, milk, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, OJ and cranberry cocktail. The seating area was nice and well kept. I had to take one star away because the shower leaked, dripped when shut all the way off. It also wouldn't completely seal, so the shower was a little weak. I will give mad props that the tub was deliciously deep. Something you don't find in most hotels any more. How I wish this hotel was in Williams, AZ...where we spent a few days. On the whole, we really enjoyed this place. The staff were kind and attentive, the room comfortable and breakfast was nice. We woukd most def. Stay here and recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to spend the night. read more

Disappointed hotel not following highly publicized Covid protocol. Checked in and TV not working- looked behind TV cabinet to see if it was plugged in and saw old trash behind it (photo ). Looked in refrigerator and found last guest food still inside this high touch area ! Disgusting. Moved into another after personally cleaning everything my self. We had a confirmed reservation for a room with King bed. As a Bonvoy Gold Elite member I checked in early online. When we arrived, I was thanked for being a Gold Elite member and choosing them only to be told that the room with King bed was not clean and none other was available. So I was asked if an executive suite with a queen bed would be ok. Of course I said Yes as at this point I had no choice. Went to the room only to find it was already occupied. Horrifying for the couple who was asleep! Only other room available was a standard room. Again no choice at this point. Oh...no adjustment on the cost. Wow! My hubby and I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn when we travel or a Marriott. Because the HGI down the road is not the cleanest of hotels, and because our family was staying at the Fairfield, we booked a room for two nights. The staff was friendly enough and the rooms were clean enough. The only issue I had was in the bathroom, where the grout in the shower looked moldy. I did find it odd that the maid left a note about how she was unable to make our beds because she couldn't touch our personal belongings. This was the first time someone had said that. I completely understand and I respect the fact that they respect our belongings, but I have never encountered this in a hotel before. The breakfast was a plain jane buffett with the highlight being a Belgium waffle maker that made four small waffles at a time. I like to slather mine with peanut butter ;) For Amarillo, this a a decent hotel. But for a Marriott, it is definitely on the lower end of what the brand normally delivers. read more

I stayed at the Fairfield located at 6600 West Interstate 40, Amarillo, Texas 79106 on 2/10-2/12/19. I was sitting on the bed Monday night when I noticed a bug crawling across the sheets, and when I smashed it blood shot out onto the sheets. I've been traveling for work for 14 years with an average of 75 nights per year and this is the first time I've ever seen a bed bug in my room. I took the bed bug downstairs to show the gentleman working at the front desk and he was very apologetic and switched me to another room located on the 2nd floor. He also mentioned that bed bugs have been a recent problem at the hotel, which I didn't see in any of the reviews I read prior to booking my stay. I slept terrible Monday and Tuesday night, but at least I was glad to be in a different room. My coworker and I planned to stay until our checkout on Thursday; however, Wednesday morning I woke up with bed bug bites on my waist. My coworker saw bed bugs on his shower curtain on Wednesday morning so we then checked out on our lunch break and moved to another Marriott property. To try and avoid bringing the bed bugs to my personal residence and exposing my wife and small children to this horrible experience I had to wash all my clothes at the other Marriott property on Wednesday night. I purchased trash bags at Target and wrapped up my suitcase and computer bag, and my coworker's suitcase and computer bag prior to putting the luggage in my car. I also had to purchase hydrocortisone cream because of the itchy rash where I was bitten. When I got home I had to throw my suitcase away because I couldn't bring it in the house and I've read that bed bugs can live up to 5 months without feeding. This entire experience was very traumatic and I wanted to leave a review to warn other people about my experience. I've been a loyal Marriott customer for years and I hope this isn't indicative of Marriott's corporate culture. read more

Given the price, amenities, and the 7-3 shift clerks attitude, I will not stay there again. You can tell it is an older hotel, lots of small things have been let go to the point that it isn't worth almost 100 a night. I won't be staying there again. They young man I. I would definitely not recommend this hotel. We check in to find there is no king bed available, the spa is not working and neither is the ice machine. The room was fairly clean but old, and had rusty door hinges, shower curtain hangers, etc. The air conditioner was noisy. The next morning we tried the free breakfast and is was not good, which was ok because there were no forks to eat it with anyway. I can't believe the lack of customer service. What a disappointment. I've stayed at Fairfield Inn hotels before (and other "business traveler" types of hotels. This is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. It was old, felt dirty, and the bed, table, and chair weren't particularly nice either. Everything just felt old and dingy. The morning breakfast wasn't very good either. There was a Residence Inn right across from the hotel which looked new and much nicer. Unfortunately, that wasn't where I was staying. I'm probably done with staying at Fairfield Inn hotels. The only saving grace is that the staff was really nice and there was free wi-fi. read more

Friendly desk person when we checked in at nearly midnight. Room was clean, so basically that met my minimum requirements. So why only 3? Only ONE open power plug in the whole room (excluding bathroom). That is just unacceptable in this day and age of electronics. Power "strip" under desk has 2 bright green LED lights that act as great night lights if you are afraid of the dark. If not, you will need to find some way to block them. Bathroom is tight. Breakfast is ok if you get there early. They ran out of fruit, coffee, cream, etc about 60 minutes before it ended. read more

I booked this room to replace a nasty hotel I attempted to stay at for a few bucks cheaper. Bad people all over the parking lot so I left there and came here. Haha. 5 stars for sure. They upgraded me for free because their system was booking rooms weird. Staff wore masks and were so so nice. Executive king for under $100!!! Not bad. Room is super clean. No bed bugs. We spend last night at this hotel. Breakfast was not up to standard: the lady serving breakfast came to our table snatched the only salt shaker available with the comment: "you can not take that!". She never said excuse me etc. To us that was very rude. My husband did not finish his scrambled eggs since to us they are not supposed to be crunchy. The oatmeal was very watery (I took a picture, available upon request). We were at breakfast before 7 am. Plus please add black tea. There is no reason that the breakfast not done right. Have no problem with the hotel it's the crime and poor customer service that's the problem. Car was broken into. I've been staying at this hotel since about 1995 and have had no problem. I understand that as per the signs, I'm responsible for the contents of the car but when the manager was told she did not even come out to apologize. It's a Fairfield Inn. The staff is wearing masks and there are some signs up about wearing masks and social distancing. The bummer was that the low expectations they've set for breakfast at this time weren't even met. The milk and yogurts were empty. Breakfast was only prepackaged muffins, which is basically equivalent to eating a piece of cake for breakfast. We bought yogurts elsewhere but they were out of spoons here and we even asked for them as they had other utensils but were told they had no more. Then the coffee was out. This was around 7:30am. I know Covid is a new and different time for all of us but we've stayed at a number of Marriott properties out west and have had much better options for pre-packaged and sanitary breakfasts that were simple but still healthy and fresh. Marriott should start getting some consistency around this as they find where it's working well, especially if we're going to have at least a few more months of this, as it looks like we will. read more

My wife and I ALWAYS use Marriott properties when traveling because they are consistently nice and comfortable to stay in, not so much with this property. First off, the hotel itself is dingy and has a "greasy" feel about it. Which, if you've ever stayed at any cheap motels, you know what I mean. Second, the whole hotel, but especially our room, had an underlying smell of body funk weakly covered with cheap, strong cologne that permeated the air. We had no towels or soap in our room. The shower curtain was thrown haphazardly over the toilet with a long hair glaring at us from the back of the toilet. Pretty sure the sheets hadn't been changed and we found someone's dirty sock on the floor. Almost like the cleaning staff started to clean by making the beds but then said, "eh, that's good enough." There are several other, equally priced hotels in the area including another Fairfield that we stopped by by mistake (wish we would have stayed there, it was much nicer for only about $20 more. Stay away from this place if you have come to expect your Marriott properties to be better than a Motel 6. read more

Disgusting. Was told when booking on the phone that it had been updated. Not so. Lobby was cramped and NO ONE wearing masks. I asked clerk to put one on when showing me the room and he wore it under his nose. Left without checking In. As a longtime Marriott member with credit card to match, it shows how low the bar is in this pass-through town. Found a cleaner and nicer option (hello Hilton!) for a lot less just a mile nearby. read more

Probably the worst hotel stay ever. At least in the top three. Skip this place if you can. Shower was busted. Mini fridge didn't work. Filth left from previous inhabitants. No TV remote. Good thing I brought my own disinfectant because my room looked like it hadn't been touched by housekeeping. Marriott's have much higher standards than this hotel meets. Our bathtub had several stains. For some unknown reason, one of the days we stayed there we never got maid service. When we called the front desk to mention this, all they did was say that they'd bring us fresh towels. There was no acknowledgement of the lack of service. Here's what they did right: they put us on the 3rd floor as a kid's basketball team was mostly on the 2nd floor. My room looked nice with a fresh, clean look. The room wasn't horrible but I don't stay at a Marriott hotel for simply not horrible. I stay at Marriotts so as to have a pleasant, stress free stay. read more

I spent a lot of time in hotels. Specifically Marriott hotels. I travel all over Texas and have stayed in pretty much every type of Fairfield you can think of. This location is decent for Amarillo. I absolutely prefer the airport location more, newer, cleaner and never had a hiccup. I'm platinum elite with marriott and usually don't have an issue walking in. I know what to expect. Today I walk in, they don't say "thank you" for choosing marriott. Not a big deal but I stayed 200 nights with them last year. I get my key, go up to the room and it's completely dirty. Towels everywhere, bed unmade, obviously not cleaned at all. I walk back down and advise them of the mistake. I get "let me check something" and I wait in the lobby for ten minutes. I see an employee walk in and out of the front desk. They had the audacity to put me back in the same room after 15 minutes. There is no way that room was cleaned and sanitized in 15 minutes. I asked for another room and the guy says "I'll bet he got it all cleaned in that time". I don't want to BET you on sanitation. No thanks and unbelievable treatment of any guest, much less someone that spends so many nights in your hotels. Free breakfast is nice, decent lobby size and awesome location right off the interstate. But the service needs some help and you obviously checking a guest into a dirty room shows a lack of organization and management. They way they handled this situation gets them a 1 star and a "never again". Marriott on the other hand handled this exactly how I expected. Transferring my reservation to another property, apologizing for the mess. I can't say enough about their company service, but this property specifically lost my business for life. read more

Easily made reservation online. Desk clerk was super nice on check in which set the mood for our stay. Room was clean. Cool A/C. Spa was hot and bubbling when I got there :) Very convenient to I-40 and was able to get a quick start in the morning. Room rate was reasonable as well. Place looks decent from outside and in the lobby. Front desk staff was very nice. The room seemed clean at first but there was hair on the sheets of the bed. The room phone didn't work and the toilet was hideous. Looks like someone used it after the room was cleaned or it was not cleaned to begin with.
