Was looking forward to a comfortable night after being at the ballfield in100 degree weather for 15 hours. Started the air conditioner and electric went out! No back up generator and by 1am it was 80 in my room! Had to get up at 3:30 for a 4:00am shuttle to the airport (that I signed up for). Waited outside of the hotel for 15 minutes with 4 other people. Finally a gentleman went in and asked about the shuttle. Gentleman walked out and shuttle driver walked out YELLING at the customer! He walked to his door and got in the truck still yelling at the customer. Telling him "how am I supposed to know your standing outside for the shuttle. I don't know your name." I said "we signed up last night" the other customer said something about signing up and his reply was "I don't have to take you." (I have this on video) so now no one is saying a word because we need to get to the airport. We get there and I ask him for his name he stared at me. I ask again and his reply was "shuttle driver". Hebron, Kentucky. Total "meh" factor at this place. Had multiple issues during a multi-day stay: Hot water wouldn't get hot in the sink. Cards stopped accessing the room door on THREE occasions, forcing me to go back downstairs to report the issue (I was told the cards weren't programmed for the entire length of the stay...nice!) There were multiple screws sticking out of the walls, along with various un-patched holes. The awesome little wake-up call in the mornings from the jets taking off at oh-dark-thirty hours were fun. Also, the walls are paper-thin; I could hear my neighbor snoring. Every sound is amplified in these rooms. And, the coup de gras: The cleaning person trying to get into my room, even though I had a late checkout logged in at the desk, and the Do Not Disturb sign hanging on the handle. So much for sleeping in. Oh, and the smoke detector covered in plastic held by bandaids and electrical tape was a nice touch, too. I'm good. Won't be staying here again, and can't recommend it to anyone else, in good conscience. Hit with "no show" charge when all flights to CVG were cancelled and I could not even get there when I wanted to. The GM is the only one who can authorize a refund and you cannot speak with Mr. Griffin! Front desk always gives an excuse. I was welcomed at the front desk, check in went smoothly after a long drive and surely was not over yet. We entered the room with a musty smell present, started A/C unit to circulate some air. Was looking forward to a shower to find black mold spots starting on ceiling . Needless to say bathroom area needs attention. Next concern would be the bed. This place was gross! The first room looked as if the previous ppl had just left the room. There were even items left behind. The bed had not been changed and the sheets were rumpled up. The new room had stains on the carpet and I did not seep between the sheets. I slept on top of the covers for fear they hadn't been changed. When coming in, the place was in disarray. We noticed holes in the ceiling and uneven floor tiles on the floor. Upon check in, our room was not ready. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Once that was done, the front desk clerk went and checked the room to make sure it was clean. Three hours into our stay, the SAME clerk came into our room while we were indisposed. Stating he thought it was vacant. He came in even with the "do not disturb" sign in the key slot, that he removed to put the key in to enter. Upon talking to the GM Robert Griffin, he refused a refund stating it was NOT warranted. Seriously?? Previously a loyal Comfort Suites customer. But I'll never go back. read more

This was a three night stay: Two adults, one teen, one young child. Not bad in a pinch, but there are probably better nearby. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. No complaints there. The room was very roomy, though it could have used more desk or table space. Only one actual table, plus a coffee table in the room. Plenty of open space along the walls for another table. The water pressure in the shower was phenomenal. Niagara Falls would be impressed. Now the downs. The queen beds were full size at best (must have shrank in the wash or something). The mattresses were hard and uncomfortable. Maybe actual queen size mattresses would have been better (?). The wi-fi was good when it worked, but it would randomly disconnect and take forever to reconnect. The pool is OK, but small (and the chlorine level was a bit too high). Oddly, both cards had to be reprogrammed during the stay (we couldn't access our room). The breakfast was adequate, but the breakfast area is poorly laid out. The design forces everyone into the same corner simultaneously. Move the coffee out of that area and problem virtually solved. And finally, the coffee itself. Not many people like instant coffee. We certainly do not. I don't care how "bold" you make it, instant is instant. The only other option would have been to drive three miles to McD's, which I did not do (can't drive before coffee...). If they decide to use "real" coffee instead of this cheap substitute, it would be a marked improvement. In all honesty, this would have been a higher-star review if it hadn't been for the instant coffee. read more

Five Stars for customer service, but more like 4 for the room due to a broken light, which was hanging by the bed on the window side. The shower wasn't as handicapped accessible as i was hoping, it did have the rails and a shower chair. I reeaaaalllyy appreciate how helpful PAM was 7/16/2020. My mom was visiting family and got into a bad accident. I was able to pick her up and bring her home. We decided to stay here. It was the BEST deal and hand ALL the amenities my mom and I were looking for. Manly, shower chair and separate beds, in a certain price, and PAM made it happen. She even let us barrow an office chair to wheel my mom around in. She was very helpful and understanding, I couldn't ask for anything better!. Thank you for easing some tension, truly! read more

I know things happen, but when someone is inconvenienced you should not add to it. There was a fire at the location, small no one was hurt. Some water damage to the property. The damage was done after. We obviously could not stay at the property, but where we were moved to was appalling. The room smelled like cheap cologne, a tile floor, sockets on the lamp had burn marks from where the outlet over heated. The drawer to the night stand was broken, tub was damaged, and to say the room wasn't clean would be a gross understatement. If we were going to be moved, we should have been placed at the same level of property that we originally purchased. If not, our money should have been refunded to let us make our own arrangements. Instead, they got by as cheap as possible. To add salt to the wound, as I am typing this review, someone just opened my door, no knock, no housekeeping, unreal, simply unreal. read more

Needed a room for a night while passing through. It was close to the airport and cheaper than some of the competition. It is a Comfort Suites and I have yet to run across one I was disappointed in. There's a first for everything and this is this first Comfort Suites I would advise against staying at. We called days ahead and requested a room at the end of the hall, away from the elevator. We were assigned a room two doors down from the elevator in the middle of the hall. The room entry had a floor so dirty your shoes stuck to it. There was some type of dead bug on the bed, and the one towel originally provided had dirt on it. Not exactly what you want in a hotel but it was too late to pick a better hotel, any other hotel. I was baffled on how they're a so-called 4-star hotel, so I actually read some reviews. That's when I heard of the overflowing toilets, the dirty rooms, and reservations not being honored due to double booking rooms. I didn't stand alone in being underwhelmed with this hotel. It's tolerable for a night or two but I won't be staying here again. read more

I paid for a reservation through Hotels.com as part of a trip to the Kentucky Derby and surrounding distilleries and horse farms. Given COVID-19, the Kentucky Derby is postponed, and I was able to arrange flights in KY instead of driving from OH. Hotels.com was not able to arrange a refund through the hotel manager. I tried calling to understand why, and the manager hung up on me after telling "I'm not giving you a refund." I would NEVER have canceled my reservation without COVID-19 postponing the Derby. Further, I don't need to be told by a manager to book straight through a hotel instead of a third-party vendor. Customer service does NOT exist at this property, and the manager will not take care of a customer. Terrible customer service and money lost. Save your sanity and book elsewhere--even if it costs more. read more

I've stayed here 6-7 times over last 2 years. It's slowly get worse and worse. This trip my room's tub didn't have a working stopper. The toilet ran all night. The ac wouldn't go below 72 degrees and kept kicking on and off. HBO channels didn't work. Check in was delayed at 4:00 pm while only employee was in kitchen. Good things; Bed was clean and comfortable. Wifi was fast. Bathroom was clean. It was $40 cheaper than the new Comfort Suites in Florence. read more

Booked this hotel through Priceline for February 5-6, first room I was assigned I walked in and it smelled like a smoking lounge. Went downstairs and the lady apologized and said they were busy the last few days because of snow and a lot of people left without paying etc - what does that have to do with cleanliness and smoke? Do not clean the rooms? Second room seemed okay at first, but after starting to sleep woke up with severe sinus issues and thought I may be getting a cold but when I looked closer the entire bed was covered in thick dust and I have an allergy. Took a shower and checked out early. Front desk apologized and said a manager will contact me and no one ever did. I contacted Priceline and they called the hotel and Eddie the manager refused a refund because he said I used the room. Horrible service and they know I didn't use the room fully as I checked out early and the advertised airport shuttle, my reason for staying, was not operable at all. I would never recommend this nasty hotel and horrible service to my worst enemy. read more

If you've missed your connecting flight and find yourself trapped in Cincy for the night, this is a fine choice. (In my case, Delta gave me a voucher to stay the night free). It's just a couple minutes from the airport, with very large, comfy, clean rooms. An airport shuttle comes every half hour. When I called the hotel from the courtesy phones near baggage claim, they said, "The shuttle should be there right now, go outside." Then the hotel staff alerted the shuttle driver, who kindly waited a few seconds for me to catch him. Local calls are free from your room. If you don't have a laptop, there's a small business center with free computers where you can check email etc. The free breakfast included cereal, pancakes, and bagels. All decent. I wasn't planning on being trapped in Cincinnati, but this hotel made the stay pleasant indeed. read more

Very unimpressed with this location. Super outdated, bathroom was not clean on arrival and front desk staff was completely unfriendly in resolving the issue or even greeting us when we arrived originally. Funny side note: The kicker is that there's a tacky sign in the bathroom that says something like "Our towels seem to be really popular, so there's a fee if you take them." Then prices are listed for a missing pillow, towel, etc. All hotels factor the cost of these cheap and replaceable room items into their business model and it's incredibly tacky to have a sign warning people how much each item is worth. What if I leave a towel at the pool? $15 room charge. This Comfort Inn was definitely not a customer service based location, but I'm sure they don't have to be with their convenient nearby-airport location. Don't even bother trying to work out because their workout room is tiny and has very cheap equipment, with 3 machines total but only one that works at a time. Breakfast is also terrible, as there is not a single healthy option. **EDIT: on the way back we stayed at the Springhill Suites right next to the Cincinnati airport and WOW! It was fantastic and pristine and modern and cost $6 more than this place. If recommend you go there for a classy, relaxing experience. read more

Do not stay here if you have a flight to catch. They advertise as a stay and park location where you spend a night and catch a motel shuttle to the airport, leaving your car parked in their lot. Their "shuttle" is a 7- passenger minivan that runs every half hour, and only from 5am to midnight. Not nearly enough capacity for what they advertise. There were only 2 shuttle times that could get us to the airport on time and both were full. Their answer? "Here's a list of cabs you can call" Our cab wasn't the only one picking up passengers at the hotel, so I'm guessing this is a common problem. A bigger issue is the management style of this hotel. The desk clerk does not have authority to solve problems, and she can't/won't/isn't allowed to contact someone who does. I watched 2 parties check in, and both had complaints she couldn't fix. The van is trashed with no heat and on our return trip we had to wait at the Airport for 1 hour before he showed up. had attitude and very disrespectful. I booked this hotel for its proximity to the airport and the frequency of the airport shuttle. I arrived late in the evening, explained to the desk clerk that I had a car, and she recommended a better rate that included a week of free parking. She made a reservation on the airport shuttle as I checked it, and gave helpful advice on which shuttle would work best for us based on our group size/flight time/number of earlier shuttle reservations, etc. The room was clean, plenty spacious, with a "sitting room" including a couch, a separate full bathroom, then a bedroom area. No issues at all with wi-fi or television reception. We were easily online and watching football on TV. The shuttle departed each half hour and took under 10 min to get to the airport. In the morning, they had a full breakfast buffet, but I didn't have time and just grabbed some cold items: they had an assortment of juice, yogurt, etc. Best of all, upon returning, I was able to just get in the car and drive away - no guard station with a passcard and all (that frequently fails and sends you walking back into the hotel for validation, a week after you'd left). Instead, they have a system where the vehicle is given a tag with its departure date. Is it a place to vacation for a week? Of course not - it's off the highway near the airport, but it was great. read more

5/29/21..Arrived at the property and within an hour the toilet overflowed. Heather was not surprised but explained that being Memorial weekend, there was not another room for us to be moved to. The toilet overflowed twice again, on one occasion my fiancee was standing in poop water. Returned from dinner in Cincinnati and there was no parking, ridiculous since it's only a 70 room hotel. On 5/30/21, Sunday morning, there was no breakfast, which is one of the features why we chose this location. The young lady at the front desk didn't have the authority to comp us for the night's stay but took my information and promised that her management would call me, she would be in by 11am. On not receiving a call, I called the hotel after 3pm. The manager eventually came on the phone and promised to comp the night's stay within 5 business days. I called up on 6/7/2021, still not having receiving any comp or any further communication and was told that I should have comped $33.71, not sure where that number came from. Advised to call up on 6/8/2021 when the manager would be there. Called up and the manager was argumentative and belligerent and basically hung up on me. read more

The hotel was nice enough. However, two days after I checked-out I found an unexplained $166.95 charge on my credit card. This was in addition to my room charge. When I called about it the manager told they smelled strong odor of cigarette smoke in the room. This was the penalty charge of 150 plus taxes. I WAS ALONE AND DID NOT SMOKE IN THE ROOM, I HAVE NEVER SMOKED IN MY LIFE! I departed at 5.30am. There has got to be a way to prevent illegal smoking without charging innocent guests huge fees. The manager would not remove the penalty charge. A word to the wise, immediately after arrival, if there's any hint of smoke, call the front desk about it. Also, if you have time when you check out, ask staff to come into your room to verify there is no smoke smell when you depart. read more

My hotel brand of choice for many years was the Hilton group for a decade or more, and most recently the IHG group for another decade when my company suggested we change providers. In both cases, Hilton and IHG, I was never treated as rudely and made to feel less important than I have been at my one and only, my first, experience with Choice Hotels Group, and the Comfort Suites Newport specifically. I am a longtime member of Choice Hotels. I stay 50 nights a year in this chain. This is the worst hotel. NEVER STAY HERE. NEVER USE CHOICE HOTELS AGAIN. I inadvertently made a reservation here through the choice hotel app and within the hour, I immediately tried to call to cancel because I selected the wrong date. They transferred all over the place and ultimately they charged me anyway. The front desk persons were obnoxious. The 800 customer support was barely legible english speaking and also obnoxious. They ultimately gave me an 800 number that was only open during business hours! I tried to cancel with a few minutes of the reservation and was denied. I will never stay at this chain again. This is one of the best places I've ever stayed! We spent one night before we left for Los Angeles. The hotel was very clean, look very modern maybe from a fresh makeover, the price was very good, the staff was very polite and I think that the king bed they had was the best bed I've ever slept on. The continental breakfast was great! I just wished they had some sausage or bacon though. But I would definitely stay here again if I had to. read more

Room was ok a little small for a suite. First two shuttles in the morning were already full when we arrived. The shuttle only fits 9 people tops. For a park and ride hotel this is way too small! This hotel started out ok, until bedtime. The top blanket had blood stains on it. We thru it on the floor. Then sitting in bed I pulled the duvet up off the floor and the corner was yellow and had crusty stuff on it. I took both down to the desk. They brought up clean ones. Both pop machines didn't work. 20oz was $2.00. But by golly you could buy a 20oz pop at the front desk for $3.00. Coincidence? I'd say yes. Will not come back to this location. BED BUGS! I booked a room on 2/24/17 for my son who had an early flight from CVG for an important final interview the next day. He woke with bug bites and a bed bug on his pillow. Instead of a restful sleep, it was disaster! Front desk was helpful but when I wanted room comped management was awful. Director of Sales told me some folks try to scam for a free room, but we had photos of bites and bug as documentation. Then DOS proceeded to tell me that they had bed bugs in room across the hall a month earlier but no previous complaints about my son's particular room... When I am in Northern Kentucky and need a hotel this is where I choose to stay. The people are friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean and the bed is VERY comfortable. I don't usually wake up early enough for breakfast, so I can't comment on that. My only complaint is a small one - no TV guide.
