The Mrs. and I were on the road and stopped spontaneously for the night and found this Comfort Suites to provide generally acceptable lodging. Staff were quite nice and the breakfast good. This is not a premium hotel and is not billed as such, and I really feel that some of the very poor reviews received in the past may be unwarranted. However, it's true that a deep cleaning may be called for in some areas and carpets, baths, and wall treatments need a general refresh. Why is everything brown? Comfort Suites are you listening? There are good bones here, but it's time for an upgrade. read more

This place is a dump. First 2 rooms had ants all over the bed. 3rd room was filthy. Please see the pics. Hair on the bed (other rooms had that as well). Shower rods installed upside down... So the curtain doesn't stay shut. Lady at front desk was VERY nice... But the hotel is still a dump. I have stayed in a lot of places.... This ranks in the bottom 3. Just absolutely filthy. Again, keep in mind these photos were taken from the room without ants. This was the best of the worst. Avoid at all costs. read more

I don't know why others have been so negative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Check in was easy and quick. The motel was updated and clean. The room was spacious and comfortable. It even had a sofa bed! All this AND a fabulous Continental Breakfast for a VERY reasonable price! I highly recommend them and would definitely stay if in the area again! read more

What a complete dump. We started off a stay with no one at the front desk. They'd left a note saying "gone upstairs, be back soon." It was at least another 15 minutes before they returned, by which time there was a line of people waiting to check in. The woman was also incredibly rude, acting as if she was doing US a favor coming down. We moved on to the room. Our room was dirty, and had a funny smell akin someone having tried to cover up the smell of someone smoking. The sheets were also stained, and the AC had a broken cover and was leaking. Avoid this dump if at all possible. read more

This place usually is a decent hotel with minor issues such as the smell of cigarettes and feet in the rooms or the showers being janky. However, my most recent stay was the worst yet. I woke up with several bed bug bites all over my body and even found a large one in my bed. I notified the front desk clerk and he gave me a new room with no issue and even reassured me that he would get pest control to come out. The issue doesn't end there though, the new room I went to had hair in the bed and room smelled horrible. This place is garbage. read more

Room was clean, comfortable and AC worked fine. Refrigerator didn't work that great, the maintenance guy was very friendly, helpful and Johnny on the spot. The continental breakfast was a joke! No AC in the eating room, so you would have sweat falling in your food. They ran out of waffle mix early. You can stay here as a last resort. read more

Walked in and it smelled very clean, but that must have been to cover up the funkiness of the rooms themselves. Cons: -Ants on bedside table -DIRTY carpet -The bed wobbled, but it also sloped deeply to each side. -The pull-out couch was stained with something brown so we had to get new sheets. -The tub was stained with something black that didn't come off when we tried to wipe it. -AC in rooms, but it barely cooled the space. Very unsatisfactory! Room was filthy. We had ashes on the couch when we walked in and our kids found a scorched piece of aluminum foil obviously used for cooking up drugs on the table which we addressed with the front office. Black mold on shower curtains and hair and black mold around the tub (see pictures) , food crum and dirt in drawers, food on floor, Mirrors were nasty, bed was broken and springs popped all night. Was looking for a pet friendly hotel somewhere between fort Payne and Birmingham... the selection was slim, but this was comfortable and economical. We usually stay at Hampton inn, but they would not allow our dogs. Recommended for pet travel. Front desk clerk was very sweet as well. read more

This is our 3rd time staying here on our way to the beach.. The others times were great! (2011, 2015) So we thought we'd stay here again. Well.... As soon as we get there we see that there is a group of older men just hanging around behind the pool. We think nothing of it and check in, and go to our room. As soon as we walked in we noticed a weird smell.. and I noticed that the room wasn't very clean at all. (I always inspect every room that we stay in, we have 3 kids) It just felt so dirty. Then I notice the toilet paper looks like it has been left there a long time.. and the bathroom clearly wasn't swept. There was no one at the front counter, ever. The breakfast was ok. It's just disappointing because we used to love staying here and now I'm not sure that we will again. WE JUST FOUND A ROACH!!!!!!!! read more

Enjoyed our stay here on the way to bring our daughter to camp. Overall it was clean, conveniently located, service was great, and it allowed our pets for no extra fee. Our pet friendly room was spacious and comfortable, though it did have a bit of musty odor. There was a grassy area to walks dogs, and several Restaurants in walking distance. I'm very picky about where I stay, and I'd stay here again (that says a lot :) read more

In town for a funeral. Hubby and I booked a room here in order to stay in the same place as our parents. We have stayed in other Choice Hotels and were comfortable booking here in spite of some of the negative reviews. The staff was very accommodating and polite on the phone and in person (that good ol' southern hospitality). The property is well maintained outside and seemed safe. I noticed one review reported a dirty environment. I was cautious and alert to this assessment. Fortunately we didn't have the same experience. Clean counters and floors. Everything was orderly and well stocked in the lobby. My room specifications were honored. The room was nice and clean with plenty of towels. I found nothing in disrepair. How does this hotel have so few stars? We stayed one night and were very comfortable. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are large and clean, the employees were beyond nice and the free breakfast was comparable to every hotel I've visited. The carpet didn't have that used hotel smell. It's reasonably priced and was booked solid the night before we arrived. It was almost full the night we were there. No noises from above us or rooms next door. We are staying again on our way back home. I would recommend this place to all my friends. read more

I was pleased with the location and the kindness of the associate who served breakfast. The room was large and not totally gross. Having said that, when I checked in I had to wait maybe 10 mins for the associate. She was not in any kind of mood to be helping anyone. Even after I attempted to lighten the mood, she went on the complain. But she was fairly efficient and got us our room key. Several times we came in and out of the property and she was very busy watching tv in the lobby... on the couch. Far to busy to pay any mind to her guests. Moving on, the evening comes and I unfold the sofa bed for my smallest to find visibly dirty sheets. I ring down to ask her to bring up new sheets. No can do. She is alone. But she was able to confirm that the sofa bed shouldn't have sheets on it. I should come to get them. Meanwhile, I am w 2 small children in pajamas and exhausted. So I wait for my husband to return to stop at desk to gather the sheets. According to him, she apologized but no offer was made to improve the situation in any way. Not pleased. Which is sad cause our stay could have gone a lot better w small adjustments. read more

Stayed here for 5 days over the Christmas Holidays and received maid service only one day (had to ask for it and then got a bunch of excuses). Got towels and toilet paper from the front desk when we needed it. Room was ok (bathroom sink extremely slow to drain) was told they would fix it after we left as was the breakfast (no hot coffee at all they had one of those instant coffee machines that made poor quality coffee). Stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door as $92.72 a day at this Comfort Suites was way too pricey overall. Yes we should have moved out after two days or so but too busy with temporary work nearby. read more

The room itself was fine. The problem was when I checked my credit card bill a week and a half later and saw and additional charge for $150. When I pulled up the stay through my account, I had been charged a smoking fee. Problem is, I don't smoke and my companion doesn't smoke. When I called the hotel about it, I was only told that there was nothing they could do by the person that answered. I requested it be escalated and I was transferred to a voicemail. Choice Hotels corporate was sympathetic but said they cannot do anything other than talk to the hotel which went nowhere. They offered 2000 points which equates to virtually nothing in terms of value. So, I suppose I am left to dispute with my credit card company, which I am in the process of doing. Given how this has been handled currently, I would never suggest anybody stay at this hotel unless your fine with the potential for fraudulent charges with seemingly little to no recourse. read more

Can I give no stars? Usually stay here when the family travels every summer between MD and TX but no more. Reserved 2 rooms from highway about 20 minutes before we got to the hotel using booking.com, which was also a mistake. At the hotel we determined we only needed one room but front desk said they couldn't change the reservation because we had passed the cancelation policy cut-off. I returned keys to the other room to clerk, took it up with booking.com which was useless as well as the hotel customer service line that patched me through to India I assume. Nobody's budging, I guess us locking that room down at 930 PM for 20 minutes kept them from booking it for the night. We stayed at the la Quinta a few exits down on our return trip and will do it again next time. read more

Moving across country. Made reservation at this hotel. Front desk clerk was inattentive and bordered on rude. Bathroom was dirty. Paid my bill with my credit card on the way out. Found out they put an extra $28.00 charge on my card when I got to my destination. Called and spoke with Angela. She stated it was a hold and would "drop off" in a day or two. Ok, great. I pay my credit card bill. My new statement comes and I see I owe $28.00. I see that they changed the amount of my bill by that number. I call again to inquire why my bill was changed when I was told it was a "hold". Spoke to Angela again, who was quite rude. When I asked for her manager I was told "his name is Ken. He's not available. He has no set hours." and when I asked who was his supervisor I was told "he doesn't have one" and she hung up. I expect to pay for services rendered. When I leave a hotel and pay my bill, I expect it's taken care of and completed. Had an error been made and I was called and informed, or if it was explained when I called the first time, I might not be so bothered. I don't expect overcharging, rudeness, and extremely poor customer service. Make sure to check your credit card statement after staying here. read more
