One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. So many other options. Rooms are dirty and walls are thin.

We needed a last minute hotel and this was an excellent choice. Clean room, friendly staff, sauna and pool. Would stay here again.

Great place. Nice pool and hot tub. Clean and a nice breakfast. Not happy they price gouge so much during "peak" times though.

The check in process was easy and parking while minimal was adequate during my stay. They offer complimentary coffee and water when you walk in which was a nice touch. The elevator is very old and extremely slow and I found myself thinking stairs might be faster. As for the room I had heard ahead of time not to stay on the sixth floor due to reported haunting activity so I was on the fifth. Each room is supposed to have a theme but mine felt rather dull and uninspired. Unfortunately the room was dusty and I found hair in the sink from a prior guest which was off putting. The bed was comfortable and the temperature was cold when I arrived at 62 degrees which I actually liked. The view was nice but the room was very loud in the evenings. I suspect I was right below the sixth floor bar because I could hear chairs dragging and plenty of noise until about eleven or twelve at night. On the positive side the staff was kind and nobody was rude. I also tried their restaurant pub twice and it was excellent. The fish and chips cheese curds and chicken strips were all delicious and I highly recommend eating there even if you are not staying at the hotel. Overall while I appreciated the history the location and the food I would not stay here again. My three star review is more about the cleanliness issues and the constant noise from above. For two nights in a king room the total was eight hundred twenty five dollars and for that price I expected a cleaner room better upkeep and more amenities.

Unmade beds, dirty towels (left on the floor per instructions posted in the bathroom!). I talked to the desk clerk who said she would talk to someone who would address the issue. About 20 minutes later a guy knocked on the door who handed me towels and sheets! Hay thanks but isn't it housekeeping's job to make the beds and clean the room? Unacceptable!!! Now why did I rate our stay 5 stars? The manager heard of our experience and took action that demonstrated why she's the manager. She sent Caylib and DeShawn to our room to make the beds and clean the bathroom! They were perfect! Understanding that things don't always go right, it's nice to know that there are people that step up and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Our room preference (high floor/ end room) was granted - much to my husband's dismay... as he was carrying the tour back to the furthest possible point from check- eek. (We did move the bike to the other end for check-out & he was in a much better mood after that shorter trek.) The rooms were noted as renovated a few years ago. Had I not known going in, I'd have guessed 80s (as the hubby did when I asked him to date the last update). The ceiling is concrete & painted mauve, making for (much appreciated) serious noise reduction & perhaps a bit of a hospital or prison feel, if you will. The walls are a light gray, as is the furniture. The artwork (3 pictures) was oddly small (8x10) & hung oddly. They furnishings were, perhaps, excessive. To open up the space & reduce the crammed in strangely look, I'd suggest removing a couple of things. There was a wall shelf/ TV holder. Under that was a desk, literally pushed under, as was dresser. It looked as if the furniture was pushed back for cleaning, stacking it up. There was also a wardrobe, chair & table that slides over the chair (think tv tray). The room was exceprionally clean & in excellent condition. It was 3/4 bath with a large shower - no tub. The bed was comfortable & temperature control worked well. The pool & sauna are not to be missed! The location is great for accessing assorted things to do. All in all a very good stay. We simply have a different taste than the decorator did, apparently. We are platinum with IHG & booked directly, without using points.

Not only was it easy to find, the view of Lake Superior from our second floor room was amazing!!! It was also nice that we were on the end, and the motel was not overly busy - so it was really quite in the evening. The room itself was quite large, with a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge/freezer, and sink. The bathroom was also large and included towels and the basic amenities. We had a king size bed, which was very comfortable! The TV was so nice (picture quality far better than my tv at home) and there were so many channels. My favorite are always the music video channels - great for background music! The patio was large and it was lovely to sit out and watch the sunset. Although it is located off a main road, the surroundings and atmosphere was very quite and peaceful. It was evident there had been recent updates/renovations, so recent there was not a rod or hangers in the closet. In fact, there were few places to lay out clothes. There was one table top, desk top, 2 night stands, and single chair in the room. We were there for 3 nights, so it wasn't too bothersome and I am sure they will finish installing these minor items soon. There is an outdoor pool, it was not in use during my stay (it was a brisk 55-65F). I booked using Hotels.com and they text you the door code prior to your arrival. I had called customer service with a question and they were extremely helpful. Overall, 5 stars! Highly recommend and would stay here again :)

They were professional, courteous and very friendly going over the rooms available and letting me know exactly what to expect. A second story room with a queen bed overlooking Lake Superior. The motel is on Hwy 41 just outside of downtown Marquette MI. The views of Lake Superior are fantastic. We were on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the lake and a deck overlooking the woods. The room has a mini kitchenette with a sink, two burner stove combo, refrigerator and microwave. Dishes, silverware, a couple of pans, dish soap and towels are also included. Cute and convenient. There are also grills and picnic tables on the grounds for your use as well. Our room was $89.00/night plus tax. How can you pass up a deal like this? There is a pool, continental breakfast and the rooms are extremely clean. They do not provide shampoo, lotion, or hair dryers. Alas, there is a slight downside which resulted in a loss of a star. We booked for four nights. The fourth day we did not receive a full room service. Just a change of towels. we had depleted our soap and it was not refilled, the bed was not made up and the trash was not emptied. A slight mishap, but one which would not keep us from staying here again.

Munising, Ishpeming, Houghton and Escanaba. It's not fancy, but it's got a king bed and a couch or loveseat for the hubby, he likes a separate lounge space for videos or social media activities. Their continental breakfast is sad. The waffle batter is thick, but on the waffle comes out airy and laid luster. The batter wasn't coming out much. The Smucker's packets were out. The oatmeal vat is dry add a bone. The eggs ate watery and not so good. At least there are Philadelphia cream cheese and Chobani yogurt to get me through the morning. Day two: bacon egg bites, smashed croissant sandwich with ham, eggs and cheese, pork sausage. Lovely, I don't eat pork at all. At least there was some oatmeal today for me. We stopped eating the breakfast after the 3rd day, since there were way better options nearby. Only so much oatmeal you can eat consecutively. The staff mostly keep to themselves and didn't interact with us at all during our trip, except for the check-in and check-out. Room was clean and quiet for rest. Continental breakfast was average, but you can fill up on lots of carbs for sure, rubbery food for the warm stuff.

The facilities do show their age and the room was a bit musty (I was travelling with a dog, so was in one of the rooms with direct entry to the parking lot rather than in the two-story building with the interior corridor), but everything was clean and the lake view was fantastic. The staff were friendly and efficient, and when I asked for tips about where to find trailheads and trail parking and local dog-friendly activities, I received great responses. The location on the highway is perfect if you're doing the lake route drive (as I was), although it does make it a little challenging to get over to the Iron Ore trail that's just on the other side of the highway. The guest in the room next to me wanted to cycle over and I was mildly concerned that I was about to witness an accident. That said, it's a very short drive to the Tourist Information Office's parking lot which is on the trail, which is how I ended up accessing it.
