Mediocre hotel that seemed to have a decent amount of issues during my week stay. One of two elevators out of service, cold hot tub & broken beverage machine. The room was decent but could have been cleaned a little better. They only provide housekeeping upon request. Room AC took a little bit to figure out as there was a wall thermostat but turns out you had to use controls on the unit itself. TV remote didn't do all the required functions of the TV so was hard to enjoy TV. Room did have a decent sized mini fridge, small microwave and very small "kitchen sink". Breakfast was pretty basic and not the best quality. Staff was friendly. read more

I was informed to email this person because they are in charge of hotel by hotel staff who gave me the card aristot.vuninka@stayatchoice.com this is what I emailed this person 2 weeks ago with photos and still no response: Good Afternoon, I wanted to send an email in regards to my recent stay at your comfort suites facility. My account number for my stay was 932597602, room 511 and the dates were from 6/13/24 to 6/17/24. I first would like to address the staff. The staff was very friendly from the front desk to the staff working in the kitchen area. They showed excellent customer service and every morning greeted us with a hello and or good morning. Now on the other hand although housekeeping was via request only, they fell short of the mark as well as whomever is in charge of the hotel maintenance. The first day our microwave went out (keep in mind i was traveling with children) So i had to come down to the main lobby and go back and forth to heat up food until there was a replacement sent which was on the following day. There was also only one elevator in working condition so the wait time to go up and down to warm up food was quite a bit of a hassle. I reported the issue with the bathroom and floor that night to the front desk and he wrote it in a book and stated that someone would come and fix the problem. The shower head and tub faucet leaked water, the shower head was coming out of the wall and when the water was on it would run everywhere. I did notify the front desk again and they said that because it was written in the book there would be no need to write it again and the person who deals with that situation had already been notified. Needless to say no one ever came to fix the problem. When it came to house keeping, it looked like whoever stayed in that room had a party because there were wet stains on the floor as well as balloon tape on the walls. It was bad. I thought our room would've gotten changed but it didn't and we were not given any type of credit which was very disappointing. The kitchen area was also very sticky, literally everyday. People would walk on the floor and you could hear the sticky sound when everyone walked and it was quite annoying honestly. I asked one of the workers when was the last time that it had been mopped because that has been going on everyday of our stay he stated "every night" But if that were the case everyone wouldn't have been making noise from their shoes when walking on it. That entire kitchen area was very dirty even around the trash bins. Hot Tub was also out of service. As a person who is in the media field as a correspondent/Journalist I was very disappointed by the lack of cleanliness. But overall as i stated the staff was nice. I thought I'd bring this to your attention as I've discussed the good and the bad. Hopefully these issues will be addressed in hopes that someone can do random checks with staff and upkeep. This Comfort Suites is located at the Bridgeway Commerce Park, right off the 17 and near the 644. Amenities include wi-fi, free hot breakfast, outdoor parking for both cars and trucks, a copy machine, an indoor whirpool/hot tub, an exercise room, a valet cleaning service, and the building being 100% smoke-free (always a huge plus!). The hubs and I stayed here for a weekend in the area - the room was bright and clean, but there was a mix-up with our reservation in terms of the bed size - the front desk/concierge staff seemed to be a bit overwhelmed with the computers being slow to process and the line of guests still waiting to be attended - you can definitely feel the frustration! Just note that this hotel does get booked fairly fast, and quiet hours are not enforced - lots of families and young children running through the hallways, so if you're a light sleeper, you may have issues with this. While you'll have to pay tolls to go in and out Norfolk, it's the most reasonably-priced hotel you can stay in the area. +confirm your reservations/room +ample outdoor parking available read more

Where do I begin, well first off the name speaks for itself. You walk in and you're greeted by the front desk personnel, they have a sitting area to the left as you walk in that's located next to the front desk and a large fish tank for your viewing pleasures!. As you continue to walk ahead there's a food buffet area where you can get breakfast with plenty of seating!!.. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend staying at one and would definitely visit again if nearby!!.. read more

I usually don't write reviews but this location's management needs to know that the hotel is absolutely dirty. The room I stayed in didn't have any toilet paper, and the dust on the furniture was at least 1/4 thick. The bed was uncomfortable and the hall smelled of marijuana. DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL! I came to Newport News for a family event so I stayed at this hotel. I was supposed to stay here for two nights but I ended up staying for one. As soon as I walked into the room, I could see trash around my bed. I opened the drawer next to my bed and I found more trash in there. The next morning I went to get a quick bite to eat and the breakfast food wasn't fully stocked. The kitchen staff was standing around instead of getting more food. Before I started eating, I walked up to my room, grabbed my things, and left. I found another hotel to stay at for the next night. Having a clean hotel during a pandemic should be the number one priority for a hotel. This hotel obviously thought something else. read more

I don't know what the mediocre ratings are for. This is the best bang for your buck when looking for a hotel. The room is pretty spacious. We had a king bed with a pull-out couch, microwave, sink, coffee maker, you know the usual. The room was clean and you could tell the cleaning staff did their job! They come and replace towels and sheets every 3rd day, but you can request more frequently. There was a free continental breakfast from 6-10 every morning. Eggs, sausage, cereal, fresh fruit, oatmeal/grits, juice/coffee/milk, and assorted bagels/donuts/muffins. The place has a pool, business center, and fitness center and free WiFi of course. The hotel is located just a few minutes away from the interstate as well as Harbour View shopping center where they have a few restaurants, shops, and everyone's favorite... Walmart. read more

Five years later I made a return visit. Front desk staff was polite and professional. I was recognized at a Choice Privileges member and provided with a cold bottle of water. Front desk area is visually appealing with a round couch, aquarium, and artistic light fixtures and pieces on the walls and tables. Had a double queen bed suite. I feel the rooms were designed for the single king bed suite, as one of the queen beds was up against the ac unit and was not accessible on that side. Comfortable bed, quiet surroundings - even when a heavy rainstorm happened. My only two negative comments would be that the free wifi was a little slow as was the elevator. read more

This hotel needs an all around makeover. Let's start with check-in. I was in town for a family reunion & our host set us up as a group there. When my husband & I checked the front desk clerk was dry & not warm. My husband tried a couple of times to engage in small talk. No luck. Little eye contact, not welcoming. My reservation did not include my last day though that's how I made it. Front desk clerk didn't have access to change it. Was told to see the mgr the next day. Mgr never came to work the next day. Thankfully the group coordinator showed up for 3 hrson the Friday & was able to fix it after notes were left for her. Housekeeping...the 2nd night of our stay our room wasn't fully serviced. Trash & dirty towels were removed but new towels were not provided & bed wasn't made. The family used the conference space for our group gatherings. The sheer curtains looked to be water stained & desperately needed to be replaced. Bottom line, the owner of this establishment needs to completely overhaul this location. We've also provided feedback to our reunion host to not book this location in the future. read more

This place started out as 1 star and then by check out, I'd give it a 3. When we first arrived late in the evening to a fully booked hotel, we check into our room and were met with an overwhelming smell of urine. It was horrible, unbearable and we just felt dirty and we didn't even want to stay. We called the front desk to complain but they said they were fully booked and there was nothing they could but give us a bottle of spray. After dousing the carpets, curtains and air with the spray, it still smelled. I noticed the the smell seemed to be coming really strongly out of the air unit. Did someone take a leak in there? I don't know but it was so bad we had to keep it off the whole night. Thankfully the next day we were switched to a room that was cleaner and smelled fresh but received zero compensation for the previous night though the front desk was very apologetic the next day in stark contrast to the night person on duty. They switched us to a different room that was better and you didn't feel like you needed to go through a contamination chamber after leaving it. There were still a few things that showed it needed to be updated a little but better than what we had. Breakfast was the typical offering and boy was the place a bit chaotic and a tad messy but the staff did their best to keep food stocked and clean. It was a busy morning. Not overly impressed by the whole experience but not a bad hotel but I'd suggest asking to see and smell the room first during check in. Reading other reviews, it seems the rooms are hit or miss. Not a friendly hotel during COVID-19. Everyone did wear masks as they are strictly required when going into this hotel. The have closed the pool, workout room and are offering zero breakfast options. Not even a pre-packed breakfast bag option. There is a laundry room but the lady behind the desk will not give you change so bring your own quarters. The marketplace inside the hotel is closed also. The room was clean. I just think if you are cutting what you offer down your price should be cheaper. I would stay here again though. read more

This place actually exceeded the expectations I had. When I booked the place, I assumed it would be similar to a Comfort Inn, which usually isn't the classiest establishment. However, these Suites were surprisingly very nice and seemed rather new. The waitstaff were all very nice and allowed us to check-in about 2 hours early. One thing that was odd was when I arrived to my room, the door was still open and the refrigerator was sitting in the middle of the room. A repairman showed up about five minutes later and told me he was fixing it. This was a little awkward, but he ended up being incredibly nice and fixed the fridge in no longer than ten minutes and he was on his way. The room was clean, the hotel was overall quiet, and the location was convenient for my business trip to Lockheed Martin, which was located just two miles down the street. Suffolk isn't the most glorious place to "vacation", but this hotel was suitable for my short stay. read more

At its current state, I do not recommend. My family was there for an AAU championship game. I stayed in room 302 with 3 kids. The room was outdated and the beds were even more outdated. There was a protruding piece stuck out from under one of the beds. I didn't realize it until my niece hit her leg. Very dangerous. The bathtub was hazard as well because no tub mat to prevent slippage. But too late because we all had a slip. The curtain did not close all the way, therefore the sun was shining bright and early in our faces. The day of checkout I turned the comforter back and it was badly stained. Not sure if it was a dirty comforter or just stained. The rod was cut in the middle so as to not allow it to close. Thankfully we were facing a field. Lastly there was no ice on none of the floors. The hotel is in a nice location. Near restaurants and away from the business of Virginia Beach. read more

I have stayed in this hotel before with my parents. Nice hotel for the night. However after being at sea for 3 months coming back into the covid mess normally I will meet my girlfriend halfway between my unit and home and never have any problems with hotels. But All DOD had a restriction of 50 miles. So I prepaid for this hotel close to base. I come to check in and they said I need an "adult" in order to get a room. Even being 20 years old ACTIVE duty military. They were certain on not giving me a room. They gave us no help on refunding or rushing to find a more convenient hotel that appreciates young military members in this rough time. read more

I stayed here with a buddy while i was moving to another state. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. The room was nice and very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. More than youd expect from a comfort suite. Due to covid there was no continental breakfast, but the facility was clean and practiced very safe sanitizing procedures. read more

This is my second stay at this hotel. I can say that it is very pleasant. The staff I have interacted with are all very kind. I especially like the kind ladies who prepare the breakfast. They take a great deal of pride in their work. I am beyond grateful for their kindness. The rooms are clean and spacious. They are tidied up each day, and I feel very safe here as well. I'm traveling with children. It is also very quiet. Also, a nice thing when traveling with kids. Highly recommended this hotel. read more

The people who stayed in our room before us left their smelly coats in the closet and I guess this hotel doesn't check to make sure there aren't dead bodies and stuff in the closets when people check out?? Two days out of our four night stay we had to take cold showers because they had issues with the water. On our second day's stay the water shut off for over 3 hours. Unfortunately we discovered all these issues without any warning. They could have posted a note to everyone's door or something? Or even just mentioned it as we walked by the front desk? On all of these occasions we had just walked in and could have been given a verbal heads-up. The front desk admitted that a lot of people left because of the issues with the water. If we didn't go through a third party to book this hotel (couldn't get our money back) we would have left too. The bathroom was a little gross because the tub was black in some spots...scary. The rooms are cheap looking and the wifi was terrible. At $95 a night I was expecting at least a hot shower every night A few positive things to say: Eric at the front desk was super friendly, helpful, and apologetic. Where to begin? There was nobody at the front desk when we arrived. Took a while for someone to show up and check us in. The room was big and had a refrigerator. There were no linens for the pull out bed, and when asked for stuff they told us they were too busy and we'd have to come get it ourselves. Our family in another room used the pull out and there were linens on it all ruffled up like it was never checked or cleaned. There was also no toilet paper in the bathroom. The sausage and eggs for breakfast were unappetizing to say the least. Overall, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and I will not stay here again if I'm traveling. read more

I came here after a bad experience at the Howard Johnson in Virginia Beach. This place is a million times better! It has some faults but first, my room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and had soft bagels, hazelnut coffee creamer and fresh fruit. The staff was polite. The neighborhood feels safe...a lot of green space! Housekeeping did a good job everyday. Negatives: I put my quarters into a washer and it didn't work. But front desk took care of it. Also, their market was out of detergent so I had to wash in just hot water only. There were kids going from the pool into the gym dripping wet and playing on the machines. The parents should have been watching their kids but also none of the staff seemed to notice this happening. Ice machine on 2nd floor was not working when I tried to use it. Nothing within walking distance except the hospital. read more

My family stayed here on the way to the beach, and at first, we thought it would be very nice. It is very nice looking when you enter the building. At first contact, the staff was mostly young adults who weren't very professional and also rude. The elevator was very slow. The pool was nice at first, but we discovered a spider bigger than a quarter at the bottom, still living. The whirlpool was very dirty. The room was very cramped, but it was clean. The pull-out bed was very uncomfortable, like sleeping on a box of springs. Overall, it was better than staying at a shady motel. Would not recommend, return, nor would I stay for more than one night. read more

So I'm not too sure where to start. I don't want to say it was a horrible experience but it really wasn't that great either. The place was fairly clean and mostly well kept. My main issue was with staff. They were never rude or inconsiderate but you could tell they didn't care. I would point fingers at upper management. Coming from a management background I am absolutely certain that there is no real manager here. I read some previous complaints on another travel app. The "general manager" is quick to offer apologies and say they will use a review for training to improve issues. Well the same blanket response to every review is a sign that they are just responding as it must be a requirement. It's not sincere nor is the business doing anything to improve service. Breakfast was a cluster. A full hotel should expect to have busy breakfast. One person can not handle the whole breakfast room alone. Food took forever to be refilled. Trash was piled EVERYWHERE! One waffle maker is terrible. If you can't afford two, take the waffle maker away it causes more hate and discontent being there than it would if you just didn't have one. At one point I observed an employee making himself and his children waffles. He fed his whole family! Not an issue if a company wants to offer that perk. The issue is with timing. The whole room was packed with people. Trash was overflowing all cans. People were lined up to make waffles. He stood there and made four waffles for his family. No care was given that the place was slammed and filthy. Nor that customers were waiting for food. Overall, every employee had the same carefree attitude. I suggest that management be held accountable so that they will start holding their employees accountable. Pride goes a long way and there was not a single ounce here. read more

We booked this hotel months in advance on Travelocity, and I confirmed several times since I was apprehensive about whether the note revived or booking from Travelocity. We were only staying there one night, just two of us, because we were attending a concert in nearby Virginia Beach, nearly 5 hours from home for us. When we finally arrived to check in on the day of the concert, we were told we could not check in because we were underage. The manager told us that it is state law that they cannot rent to under 21, and we are 18. This is ridiculous - if you research, you find that it isn't true, and we and our friends have gotten many hotel rooms before in our hometown (also in Virginia) without issue. I do understand if this is hotel policy, but this should have been communicated much earlier than when we arrived. I asked the manager why they even let us make the booking, and she said "Well did you ask?" If we were old enough. I didn't think it would be an issue, as it never has been in the past. She was rude to us and to our parents who called (and got a different story than what she told us), and she didn't seem to care that we were stranded so far away from home. I've never faced discrimination before, but that is clearly what this was - both on account of age and race - and I am disgusted. We never even made it to the room and I'm certain I would never return to this hotel. Buyer beware. read more

I am currently staying here for work, and I just found someone's used nose ring on my bed. This is totally disgusting and I will definitely not be staying here again! Not to mention I have the loudest family on the entire planet and their 89 children staying directly next door to me. I got a great deal on the room, but I will definitely be staying elsewhere next time I am in town. UPDATE: The bright spot of this hotel was the staff. Bobby hooked me up with an upgraded room when I brought my concerns to her. Will probably stay at the Hilton next time I am in town though. read more
