Dr. Gothelf has been with me every step of the way as Charlie is my first dog. He is very thorough, attentive, and honest with his recommendations. He doesn't charge for every little thing and is really nice/friendly when handling Charlie. Charlie actually likes going to the vet and doesn't want to leave! Dr. Gothelf performed Charlie's neuter and dewclaw surgery. Charlie came home with a cone and his hind legs were bandaged up. He didn't have any complications or infections post-surgery and recovered within a week and a half. Syosset Animal Hospital also had a Halloween event and we were able to bring Charlie in his pirate costume to get a bag filled with treats and a toy. It was his first time trick-o-treating and he still plays with his toy! Overall, Syosset Animal Hospital is a great place to bring your pet for preventatives, surgery, or Halloween!

They're always willing to accommodate special appt needs wherever possible. For instance, today we had an urgent situation with one of our Siberian Huskies. They were at their Patchogue Surgi-Center, which is not our usual office but yet his staff was quick to accommodate us. I wrote this review today to both thank Dr Kolbert and to address the several poor reviews seen on Yelp. They baffle both my family and me. Everyone I know who brings their adored pets to Dr Kolbert are more than satisfied and so are we. Highly recommended!

I have a new puppy and they have been really awesome with her, they allow my to train her in the office during visits and lure her while she is getting shots so she has a great experience. Lastly, you learn a lot about your animals care taker when you have to put one down. They treated me very nicely and compassionately when I had to put my cat down. You don't forget those moments. They do run appointment only visits but they have two offices with late hours for working people which makes taking animals in convenient.

I have a regular Vet here in NJ who immediately said my dog needed surgery ASAP. He also said the surgery would cost between $4,100-$4,500. In addition, my dogs rehab would be additional and would be about a 12 week recuperation period. Needless to say that would be a hardship for myself and my family. May I also add, I love my baby Sherman as much as my 4 children. When I arrived at my appointment with Dr. Duffy my first opinion was what a Beautiful, convenient facility coming all the way from NJ. It was less than 1 hour away. Dr. Janice Duffy greeted me with warmth as well as a caring attitude as soon as we met. I mentioned that I had xrays with me that 2 Vets in NJ that I use, both agreed that Sherman should have surgery ASAP and should be kept off his leg and up only to go out to do his business. Janice and her Husband also a Veterinarian gave Sherman a very thorough exam as well as examined his x-rays. Sherman's exam was totally negative regarding pain, although they did say he does def. have bilateral torn CCL's. They recommended trying a combination of an anti inflammatory as well as some Glucosamine and try to have the dog drop some weight in addition to having him walk 2 short walks daily to build up the strength. They said if it was their dog they would not do surgery and put him thru that especially being he is not even limping currently. They took their time answering all and any questions that I had. It has been 2 months now and my dog is wonderful. The glucosamine is all that I have been giving him and he is not in any pain at all. I do watch stairs and discourage any jumping. I cannot thank the Duffy's enough for giving me my beloved Sherman back to me in good health and happy as ever. I will be using them from now on for all of my animals. On March 21st, he fell down the steps and tried to go here but they were booked so after taking him to the ER I decided to book a follow up appointment here instead of with his old vet. I've been wanting to move vets after numerous incidents. We went in for our first visit with Dr. Cassidy. Melissa at the front desk greeted us. The place is immaculate & bright - so nice & inviting. They have different rooms for everyone. Met Dr. Cassidy who was like a ray of sunshine. She examined Terri throughly & explained everything to us step by step. The hacking cough was a tracheal collapse which is common in Yorkies. She gave us medication. Unfortunately old age and this condition begun to worsen. We had to lay him to rest 2 weeks later. He wasn't eating & stop taking the medication which made it hard for him to sleep. Dr. Cassidy gave us additional options but we could tell he was ready to go. I brought my healthy six-month-old kitten here for a routine visit after being encouraged by a personal friend of mine who was the clinic manager at the time. During the visit, a cystocentesis was performed by this manager, who is not a licensed veterinarian or veterinary technician, under the supervision of licensed staff. Immediately afterward, my kitten's condition changed--vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, and visible distress. Over the following days, I repeatedly expressed concern and was reassured that this was "normal" and blamed on a recent food change, with no urgency or recommendation to bring him back for evaluation. Four days later, I rushed him to an emergency hospital, where he was diagnosed with uroabdomen and suspected bladder rupture and ultimately euthanized due to organ failure. Veterinary science recognizes bladder rupture as a known, life-threatening risk of improperly performed cystocentesis, and this rapid decline does not align with a simple dietary issue. After his death, I contacted the practice multiple times seeking accountability, resolution, and reimbursement, and was ignored. I am sharing this to warn other pet owners that Dakota Veterinary Center's lack of urgency, accountability, and follow-up after an invasive procedure was irresponsible and unethical, and no animal deserves to be treated this way. Their actions raise serious concerns about patient safety and professional standards; I doubt any of their staff would like to be treated the way they treated my late kitten.
