Tip: look a the flowers before they are taken to the back and definitely before you leave the store. Also do not buy from the bucket unless you are picking them yourself. Any flower that is bloomed is old. It's best to order your arrangement ahead of time. I made an amateur move today. I went in this morning to buy flowers for Mexican Mother's Day. The person who helped me showed me the flowers they had in buckets in a fridge and she went inside to grab a bouquet. She tilted a bouquet toward me from behind the glass door, I nodded and it was taken to the back to be wrapped. I did ask for the carnations to be removed and replaced with some tall flowers. When I got home and unwrapped them to put in a vase I noticed the pink lily was old and damaged. I felt embarrassed giving those to my mom. I decided to take them back to the store. I approached the owner and showed her the flowers. Her reaction: She accused ME of damaging the flowers and insisted the flowers were "PERFECT" when she wrapped them. I had to inform her that she did not wrap them. I told her I wanted to order a bigger bouquet to pick up tomorrow since I heard they would be open. Again she insisted that the flowers were "PERFECT." She said I did not have the option of ordering something else. She said this is what they sell. She offered to add another flower but that was my only option. Again she insisted the flowers were perfect when she wrapped them. I told her to keep her flowers and that I would never go back. It was frustrating she was not willing to work with me or let me order a different bouquet. It was more insulting that she accused me of damaging her PERFECT flower. read more

So happy I stopped by!!! I was in the area and needed last minute flowers for my mother in law. I was debating on visiting flower district in downtown, but I didn't want to deal with parking and haggling, so I stumbled upon Commerce Flowers on Yelp. What was a plus is they have their own private parking lot. Upon arriving, there is a door on the street side and a larger entrance from the back lot. The interior is very open and you can tell they do many large event florals! I went straight to the refrigerated florals, but there honestly weren't too many prearranged floral vases options displayed that I loved. The kind man behind the counter(I believe named Louie, sorry If I spelt it wrong!!) was quick to help me and showed me smaller bouquets that were $25 each and asked what my budget was, and they can arrange something new on the spot. Took about 20 minutes and cost $50, but they made me the most stunning bouquet!!!! My mother in law adored it. While I waited, I chatted with Lindy, one of the owners, and found out she's a third generation owner at this spot and she shared their beautiful history. Oh dear where to start.... Commerce flowers may be a place to go for simple floral arrangements, but after the mayhem with this florist I would like all vendors and wedding parties to be wary of trusting him for a large scale event. Summary - Duke will take your ideas only as suggestions, won't be present for your day, and then deny ever discussing your details. Our first interaction was great, but things went downhill after I put down my cash deposit. The breakdown: ⁃ I specifically stated I did not want greenery or the color pink (was charged extra for more floral) -- Day of wedding: greenery everywhere as well as pink. ⁃ Asked for drooping purple wisteria -- he denied we ever spoke about this (the notes in his handwriting tell a different story). ⁃ Asked for "French Country" style pillars for candelabras -- he ignored this detail, received sloppily painted columns. ⁃ He claimed to have worked at my venue before -- even with discussing and showing photos of the size of the room, the ceremony space dwarfed the floral arrangements he brought. ⁃ Asked for gold pedestal bowls for centerpieces. Received spray painted cardboard containers. ⁃ Asked for a wide runner to hide the floor and showcase scroll work flower petals down the aisle -- received a sheer cloth bolt of fabric with pink (!) petals sprinkled no where near the design requested. ⁃ Had two meetings including a mock up with Duke and each time he promised he would be there to execute -- called after the wedding to discuss missing items/issues. As I asked him questions, it became clear he had no idea what the final floral arrangements looked like. I asked him point blank if he was there on the wedding day. He admitted he was not able to be there for my wedding. Finally, Duke agreed to look at the photos of my concerns and would "get back to me next week...", months later still waiting on a response from him. read more

This is an updated review. Lindy from Commerce Flowers reached out to me and was very apologetic and vowed to make things right. Lindy definitely went above and beyond to ensure I was happy. She not only replaced the flower arrangement I had received for my birthday, but also credited me for another arrangement I used to send my mom flowers. Both flower arrangements are gorgeous!!! I received my replacement flower arrangement 5 days ago and it is holding up nicely!
