I can't express enough just how beautiful my dad's funeral flower arrangements turned out! I can be a bit of an OCD'er especially when it comes to perfection! Let me just share, between the tears, we had nonstop compliments! Johnny & Wendy are very helpful, professional, sympathetic, trustworthy & have a unique eye for certain details! We walked in, shared service info, a few photos, paid & it was all done! During a difficult time such as this, they understand how important it was to us that my dad have a beautiful service! Presentation, personality, price, the list goes on and on. He's done a bunch of weddings for family members and friends and that is actually how we found him, word of mouth. He is based out of a mom 'n pop florist shop in Montebello. Don't let that deter you. His skill in his craft is really great. I can't thank wendy & the team at bended knee enough. The photos do not do their work justice (i will post photos once i receive them from my photographer). I had a rough start to my wedding day and once my bridesmaid handed me my bouquet and i looked down and saw these gorgeous white fluffy peonies and garden roses it just put a huge smile on my face. All my Pinterest photos i showed her for my bridal bouquet all had peonies but my wedding was the end of November and peonies are not in season. I have no idea how wendy & johnny did it but i was soooo happy. The centerpieces are also huge. They might look normal size in the photos but in person they are as tall as my 6ft tall husband with the vase. They just completed the room and had the most gorgeous flowers in them. The whole night I kept commenting to my husband about how much i loved the flowers. I could not stop staring at them. Wow, what can I say about Johnny. He took care of all the flowers for my wedding and I really appreciated this flexibility and openness. I asked for rather non-traditional centerpieces which required some creativity, and he delivered marvelously. Everyone was very impressed with my bouquet and despite just a general guidance on the color palatte, the flowers were exactly what I imagined from the inspiration photos I sent him. To boot, his pricing was very good and I was able to afford everything I wanted to have decorated. While his flower shop itself isn't super fancy, I really liked the pictures on his sites and I wasn't disappointed at all. With two days notice I called and spoke to Wendy asking for an estimate after sending a message with the picture of a funeral wreath from their website that was a sample of their work. She called me back within a few minutes with a price, I paid over the phone using my debit card and they were able to deliver on time to a mortuary in Montebello. My good friend who has impeccable taste and has done a lot of catering and events recommended me to Bended Knee. I trusted her and went to visit Wendy. My consult with Wendy went well overall. I was looking for a few bouquets and boutonnieres for my desert wedding. I showed her a picture of a bouquet I'd seen on Pinterest featuring air plants and succulents. Wendy admitted she'd never worked with air plants before, so I was a bit nervous at first. She gave me a range of prices for all the pieces I needed. I ultimately chose them based on price (several other places I'd called wanted to charge me at least 2x as much). Leading up to the wedding, I had some trouble getting a hold of her to figure out pick up time. But she ended up giving me her cell and from then on, communication was pretty seamless. She helped guide my decision on how much to spend on each bouquet and boutonnière (most expensive option for bride & groom since we'd be photographed the most, and least expensive option for all else. The result? Unbelievable bouquets. I was floored by how amazing mine turned out. It took inspiration from the photo I'd shown her but incorporated flowers I'd casually mentioned I liked. I didn't even realize she'd taken down a note that I liked proteas...but she brought them in to my bouquet, and it looked amazing! Pros: - Breathtaking results - Consult was easy - Took great direction - was best price I'd found - incorporated everything I had mentioned I loved in passing. I didn't even realize she was paying attention - small business (support them!) Johnny did the flowers for my wedding this past weekend. They were GORGEOUS! I was surprised at the flowers he used in my bouquet - coral & white peonies, Juliet roses, tulips, freesia, & some other pretty flowers I can't name because I don't typically see them around. He originally told me he may not get tulips too! I wanted each reception table to have 7 small arrangements in various vases. Instead of making each table the same, he changed it up for each table (e.g. one table had peonies & freesia in a gold honeybear bottle while another had light green hydrangeas). Each of the peonies he got were bloomed & fluffy. I've seen complaints of other florists who provided unbloomed peonies at a high price tag. If you don't hire Johnny as your florist, you're using the wrong person. My husband and I were married a month ago at Carondelet House in Los Angeles. We were referred to Johnny by our coordinator, Joyce Kim (who is an amazing wedding coordinator). She had worked with him before and said he does a great job. We had already met with 3 or 4 florist who were quoting us outrageous prices and also tried to take over our wedding with their ideas. We were quite discouraged thinking we would have to spend so much on just the flowers alone. We met with Johnny on a Saturday morning, who is very quiet but don't let that fool you, he's just listening carefully to every detail you mention. A few weeks prior to the wedding he made us samples so well could approve or disapprove. He was dead on with what we wanted and were so impressed with what he presented based on such little info we had given at this point. His prices are amazing, he's the nicest guy and very accommodating. I received so many compliments on my bouquet and table arrangements. My absolute favorite was the table garland he put together for our sweetheart table. These compliments are easy to say because it was my wedding but I truly do believe he is amazingly talented and I am still in disbelief of how beautiful everything turned out. Johnny is your man! My friend is a wedding planner and recommended Bended-Knee to me. She told me something along the lines of "Don't judge them by their store front, they do beautiful bouquets at a reasonable price and they're great to work with." Her recommendation could not have been more accurate. Their store front wasn't anything amazing, if you're looking to walk into a glam floral shop, this is not it. I personally could have cared less what a person's store looked like. There's is just very simple and I'm sure this is part of the reason they can do flowers at such a reasonable price. I came to Wendy about 6 weeks before my wedding. I was originally going to order flowers straight from DTLA. Wendy was sooooo easy to work with, didn't try to upsell me and worked with my very tight budget without making me feel bad. She was able to do everything I wanted and for only a fraction more than what I think I would have paid through DTLA flower district. I can't begin to describe how beautiful the bouquets were. Every one of them was gorgeous. They looked like a million dollars. I don't think I could have paid more anywhere else and received the same quality flowers and "bouqueting" (not sure how else to describe it). They were delivered to my wedding, in Santa Barbara, on time and flawlessly. I wasn't there for the actual delivery, but everybody had what they needed and the flowers lasted. My bridal bouquet lasted for days. It's been a week since my wedding, and I just threw it out (it was time), but we used it as a centerpiece for dinner with friends the following night, and my friends brought it back to LA to me after my minimoon. I HIGHLY recommend Wendy and Bended-Knee. I couldn't have been more pleased and she could not have been any easier to work with. There was zero hassle, and she even let me drop off the vases after my minimoon, so I didn't have to have anybody rush them back for me. I was very disappointed with Wendy and Bended-Knee. I found them online and fell in love with their work. I scheduled an appointment with Wendy. She pushed it a week due to another appointment with someone whose wedding was sooner which was a little frustrating but I understood. I met with her and she was lovely and professional. We clicked, and I felt like I'd found my florist. To be completely fair, I reached out to Wendy very early (over a year before my wedding date). I was working on my budget so I wanted to meet with florists early on to figure out how it'd work in my budget. Wendy said I could get a rough word of mouth quote during my meeting or a quote emailed to me and written in detail. I opted for the latter. I followed up with Wendy once a week for two months at first via email and then via phone. Often she didn't response, when she finally did she kept promising the quote next week. I never received a quote. It was very very frustrating. Eventually, I had to move on to another florist. My wedding is now less than a year away, and I went with someone else. I don't know if maybe you need to have a wedding planner who works regularly with Wendy to get a response, but as a bride who is doing the planning myself I couldn't get a response. I was also more disappointed I took the time to drive an hour to meet with her only to then get ghosted. If you're doing it yourself without a planner, you may not be able to work with Bended-Knee. Or if you're planning well ahead of time, you may want to look elsewhere. read more

Worked with Johnny's team at a recent event at the Skirball. The centerpieces turned out great. I did notice the gold film on the vases were starting to come apart, but it was no big deal. The bouquet was too big for the bride but they were able to make adjustments in time. The bridesmaids bouquet were kind of messy where a lot of the accent greens were covering the main flowers. I heard about Johnny from my hair person Christine (at billion dollar hair http://www.yelp.com/biz/billion-dollar-hair-los-angeles). Christine said she used him at her wedding as well. Since my wedding was planned in about 2-3 months, Johnny only had about a month's notice to do our flowers on a valentines day wedding. I have been told by so many people that flower prices skyrocket on valentines day, but Johnny gave us a fantastic deal. He did all the bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and centerpieces. For our centerpieces, we used glass domes, glass lanterns, and birdcages. We delivered about 20 of these to Johnny's shop in Montebello, he decorated them with ivy/moss/roses other flowers, and even delivered them to the venue for no additional charge. Of course he has a standard delivery charge for the flowers, but he delivered these large glass domes and lanterns for that same price. My husband and I even ordered three extra bouquets to present to our parents -- we ordered these about a week or two before the wedding and he said NO PROBLEM. I asked him to make a floral headband a few days before the wedding and he said he would do that too (although in the end, I just asked my friend to make one with fake flowers), but just the fact that Johnny would be willing to do something unorthodox like a floral headband made me happy. OH and I told him how much I love peonies and that everyone else said they would be too expensive because they were not in season in Feb. in Los Angeles. I was bummed but on the day of my wedding, there were peonies in all the bouquets! He quoted me without the peonies but he ended up including them anyway. Such a nice surprise :) Pics also included.
