I sent a few requests out to several different contractors and Lars was the first one to contact me. I booked a flight and met with several contractors and was impressed by how thorough Lars was in his walk through of the property and the questions he was asking, many of which the other contractors never mentioned. He was the only one to look in the attic for electrical access and head clearance and the only one that looked into my septic permit to ensure the new rooms would be legal. The project went exactly as scheduled, other than a delay due to a big snow storm which he obviously had no control over. He was onsite every day, kept me updated with pictures, and let me know what the next step was. His communication was always prompt which I appreciated since I couldn't be present. His attention to detail was great and left the house looking like the rooms had always been there, instead of looking like an "add-on". We almost gave up it was so hard finding someone. A lot of contractors wouldn't touch it because the job wasn't big enough. The ones that would left me with a not-so-great feeling. Then along came Zak. We had such a great experience from start to finish, that I would not hesitate to recommend him or use him on future home projects. He's responsive through text, his pricing was reasonable and the quality of work is A+. We had a miscommunication about the height of placing the unit (our fault, not Zak's. Note to self: talk to the husband about these details before the workers do the work). Zak was extremely gracious and came back the same day to get started with fixing it. First - reading the review prior to mine - I couldn't be more shocked. Our remodel was just finishing up as their project was starting and I strongly believe some of what is said below is wildly fabricated. Josh was nothing short of a consummate professional on our job. Did everything go perfect? No - does it ever on a major home renovation project? But Josh made sure every single issue was taken care of. Including when an electrician royally screwed up our wiring. Josh lost a lot of time and money having it redone and didn't even try to up-charge me for the difference despite the lost time, materials and re-do of the job by a new electrician. Even months after the job was done - he has come back to fix minor issues that pop up (grout fixes, etc) and has never charged us one extra penny. I have recommended Hastings to several friends and neighbors - including a friend who has them doing a full second story addition on their house right now and is very happy and our neighbor who runs a major house flipping company (tv show) and he has hired them on to help him as well.
