We love the commissary but the produce quality was poor. We have noticed a steady decline.

The icing was better on the chococream, but the cake was pretty dry and didn't have much flavor to it. On the other hand, the cake part on the chocobombon was moist and the cherry gave a nice flavor, but the icing was way too sweet. Pretty pricey for less than average cakes. They have a big variety of cakes all ready to go in their cake display. I chose the chocobombon since they didn't have any all vanilla cakes and this one had some vanilla in it and my husbands favorite is vanilla. I really liked that they had candles and cake decorations as well in the store and I bought a few Birthday embellishments which were all $1 each, great price! The staff was nice but not too friendly when I was trying to find out more about the cakes and flavors, I had to read the labels since she didn't provide me any details. The cake was just okay, it was very dense and a bit dry. The marshmallow frosting was a little thick and the overall flavors were definitely different but not sure I would get this flavor again. I would like to try a few more flavors and maybe a tres leches cake to see how those are. It is located in Chula Vista in a small shopping center, limited parking available.

The service is quick, the pastries are fresh and they are always so friendly. You know it's great bread when you bring a box to work and everyone runs to you for a piece of a señorita bread. The warm, sweet and yet salty bread tastes like a cloud in every bite. It's soft, buttery and seriously hard to stop at just one. The location is small, but they offer many pastries. I remember having these when I used to live in Northern California and loved them so much. I had a bout of nostalgia and couldn't wait to share this special treat with my daughter who had never had them before. When we arrived in the strip mall, there was no one at the counter but I guess they have cameras or there is a sensor when someone comes in because eventually someone came out to take our order. There is only one thing to get here (at least that they are famous for) and it is their Senorita bread. I love taking that first bite when given to us because they are warm, sweet and fresh. Maybe not the healthiest thing to eat, but it is quite the treat! My daughter proclaimed it was the "best bread ever"! We loved it so much, we came back the following day when we checked out of our hotel so that we could enjoy it on the way home and share it with friends. Apparently there are quite a few locations in Southern California (typically with a higher population of Filipinos) but I had no idea! Parking is easy and plentiful.

The vibe was cute and laid back and the service incredible. Despite the fact that it was very busy, the food came out really quickly. I finally went again today. I showed up and the dude was nowhere to be seen, but HE WAS OPEN and there were still a few donuts left. So either he sells out way early, or makes none to make it look like he's doing well. I'm gonna assume the former. I gave it about 8 minutes of hanging out and he finally showed up. I got us 2 cinnamon rolls, jelly donut, and a glaze. Their donuts hit different. They are not Yum Yum, Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme, or one of those stupid "boutique" donuts that cost $7.50 a piece. Also, if you're paying for a boutique donut, you deserve the stale cereal you're getting. Nah, these are plain, regular donuts. They're a little smaller than what you'd find at a big chain. But maybe it's like eating smaller fruit, it's more packed with flavor. The sugar, and crunch is here. These are solid freakin donuts. I've never seen less than 4 kinds out at once, but I haven't been here too often. The ambiance of CA-75 in the background is pretty sweet while you wait. They have a great selection of conchas, polvorones, fresh bolillos, empanadas (chicken, beef, jalapeño cream cheese), and custom cakes! Typically, I get the empanadas de piña 10/10! The moment you walk through the door, the smell of fresh baked pan hits you and it is everything. The selection of pan dulce and bolillos had me feeling like I was back in Mexico City. So many options, beautifully displayed. That part alone almost made the trip worth it. But the customer service... yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed. I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side.
