Horrible service at the cafe! Do not come anytime after 5pm or most likely the guy behind the counter will refuse to make you anything! I went 2 days in a row around 6pm and asked for milk teas (there wasn't enough in the grab and go section). He said "4??? You can grab them from the section" to which thankfully my guy friend with me spoke up and said there wasn't enough. He did end up making our drinks after having to explain ourselves. The second day my friend went to go order for us and he kept making up lies to her saying they were closed, he couldn't make it because he was alone. Meanwhile there was nobody around, and the milk teas are pre made he just has to put it in a cup of ice. Since the other ones are watered down Unfortunate service considering we loved a sweet lady that used to be at the cafe and never gave us any problems. This guy is lazy, and poor customer service. Wish I caught him name but he worked on Thursday and Friday evening. read more

This location is smaller than the other ones in San Diego, but still has a good variety of fruits, vegetables, and Asian specialty products. Store is clean and they often have sales.They do have Roast Duck which I love. There is also a small bakery department. read more

My husband and I live in Eastlake next to the 125 toll road so unfortunately this is the only Asian supermarket nearby. The people who are working the seafood are always super sweet. This is one of the better supermarkets. Lobsters in photos were appropriately $10 per lb. Great deal ! They do serve pastry items and dim sum. Have not tried it. Prices are relatively moderate. My husband and I visited since I like to check out a lot of different spots when I have a chance. Although the store was a little on the smaller side, they did have a nice selection. I hadn't seen a food court in this grocery chain before so I wanted to check it out. They have a bakery area, along with a spot to grab selections of dim sum and also a la carte or combo dishes. They even had a Chinese BBQ spot in this area with duck, chicken, and pork options already prepared. For our entrees we got the rice noodle with shrimp (3 pieces) and sauce, the 3 item combo with side item containing rice and noodles, a veggie dish, fried chicken, and spare ribs in black bean sauce. The food was quick and cheap and filling. For the price and quality, definitely worth it. And judging by the line of people trying to order food, this was definitely the spot. It was a little slow and the associate manning the food did need some help, but it almost seemed like the food court line was not gonna die down. They had a few tables and chairs to sit and eat your food, it was just a little on the cramped side, and I felt more like there were an equal amount of customers and employees sharing that area to eat. The restroom was fine, just no paper towels to wipe hands (used the hand dryer). We also walked around the store and checked out the frozen section, seafood selections (bummer they don't offer cleaning options for fish), snacks, juices, candy, produce, and alcohol (spirits behind a locked display case). At the front, they even set out some gift sets to prepare for the holidays. The store was well organized and shelves were stocked. The only issue was when we tried to check out and there were only 2 cashiers available for probably 10-12 people. Luckily, the staff is quick and efficient and the wait time was minimal. This is my go to spot in the south bay when I need ingredients to make my kimchi. There is a lot of good produce options that cannot be found in traditional grocery stores, such as giant king oyster mushrooms! You can also find good food prep items here, such as large tubs (great for preparing kimchi or japchae). The meat selection is also very good! My first time at this location, decided to take a walk with grandma after her appointment. It's tiny compare to the other 99 ranch markets but a decent size. I was surprised by the presentation of the vegetables, fruits, meat and sea food. It was very fresh and affordable. I had to grab some stuff from the food court of course! I got bbq duck with rice and veggies and Korean bbq duck with rice with veggies for $6.99 a bowl! What a deal! No need to meal prep for work now ahahah. The service was fast at the check out line and the food court area. Every aisle was displayed neatly and easy to find items. I will definitely shop here again. They have everything you can imagine. Make sure you sign up for their rewards card if you do shop at 99 ranch a lot. It'll be worth it in the long run to accumulate the points for money off of your groceries. read more

It's always fascinated me to come here, well it's not my first time, but I like to be away from other location in Clairemont, because of traffic and their parking lot were just too chaotic, and I've been going there for years, until this one opened in Chula Vista, it is more convenient, didn't realize they have a community here as well. Ok every time I come here, it brought back a lot of memories from my childhood, when I would come and only scan the instant noodles and snacks sections, then I will pick two from each brand of noodles, anyway they have so many brands now that it probably cost me a lot of money to try them all, but I am so amazed that they grew so big, also I didn't know they started selling self heating giant meals now, so any imported stuffs from China, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong, they would sell here, of course it is expensive, so just don't over do it, so many premium instant noodles that I tried in the past, and yes I am over that noodles craving and go on with a healthy diet :) but I gave the instant hot pot a try, for $12 and you get a meal in less than 15 minutes without hot water, magic right? I saw so many commercial about this when I traveled back to Asia, and now finally get to do it, because I never understood about this science project :) This location always be my last minute shopping if others two sold out of stuffs, I would stop by here and they got them fully stocked. I was like a kid running free in a candy store. The vast majority of inventory are Chinese products. Excellent place to pick up frozen or dry goods. The have a hot food station and barbeque service until sixish. They also have a meat and seafood section. I picked up some clams because I saw one spitting out bubbles. An aisle dedicated to produce but was not as fresh as I would like but good variety. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of choices for frozen dumplings. A chain with a couple of stores in San Diego area. This one is located in Canyon Plaza right off the freeway. I have seen better prices for seafood and produce but they do have some decent sales. I signed up for their rewards system, rebate after x amount of purchases. The only hiccup was checking out. They had to run my card multiple times and finally another clerk got it to process. Honestly, one of the best Asian market I've visited in San Diego for authentic Asian condiments and a very good reasonable price! Also, the best sushi pre-made such as imitation crab meat, sliced ahi, salmon, and yellowtail, eggs, quail eggs, fish eggs, seaweed salad, you name it!! It was easy to purchase then bring home to prepare ready for sushi! The place is definitely Asian authentic as you come in and old fashioned. But a great place. Service, I have never asked for a service but I do see other customers who would ask for specifically item and they would be led to the right place. read more

Some manager named Kevin there handled a customer service situation that COULD BE EASILY DEALT WITH very poorly. I was in line with many others but this one guy was taking too long to finish his transaction for a cereal box. Guy storms off MAKING US WAIT LONGER and who knew then when he was gonna come back. Poor cashier lady was trying to communicate that he should just cancel his purchase and go back in line but he just left Cashier lady called manager Kevin over and I didn't like how he talked down to the cashier lady that she can't do anything and make us all wait. I had to say something for the convenience of all us that we don't mind to open another cashier and let the current kiosk deal for the guy that just left MANAGER KEVIN GAVE A RUDE TONE TO ME SAYING " HEY CAN YOU WAIT A MINUTE" AND I WAS HONESTLY HELPING TO DIFFUSE THIS BACKLOG Bro fire whoever that Kevin guy was with the glasses he sucked. They even clean the fish better than Seafood City! 99 Ranch is my absolute go-to for Asian groceries here in Chula Vista. Store operations manager needs to be let go specifically for running such poor operations at the food court area. There is typically only 1 person running the entire operation even at rush hour times. Sometimes if we're lucky, there will be 1 more person helping but that person will disappear to the back even if there's a long line. Expect to wait in line for 15 to 45 mins even if there's only a few people in front of you. If there's a slow customer in front of you, I have waited more than 45 mins. No exaggeration. read more

I came on a Saturday expecting it to be insane. But it was actually really calm. You see, me and BCBP were on mission. Last winter I had the good fortune to do a solo trip in SE Asia for three weeks and in that time I somehow was able to take a cooking class in Bangkok. It was fun and the food we made wasn't too hard and tasted good. So to put my new skills to work I needed to get very specific ingredients that I didn't just have laying around. The store is small, but it had everything I needed and more. I was able to take my time and really get a good look at what they had on offer so for me it was a chance to explore and learn. Anyway, when I left they gave me a giant candle and a free lightbulb. I'm not even sure why. I just kept a smile on my face and kept moving. Minus a star for the hot food they serve in store. Mine really lacked flavor and was worse than mall Asian food. I was all sorts of frowns because they really could put together better food with the same amount of effort. Oh well. read more

I always come here for all my Asian foods and ingredients. They have a lot of the stuff I grew up snacking on or using to make meals like their produce. They also have fresh foods which I've tried many times, even their manager special milk teas. I go there to get my fresh fish too and they can clean and fry them. I normally get the tilapia and have them cook it for me. This is one of my main Asian stores that I go to and it's right by my house. Love 99 ranch! read more

I just came from this location. Upon checking my receipt when I got home , I was over charged $2.99 for frozen sticky corn. I only bought 2 and I was charged for 3. I kept calling and calling the store , but , the message says pls try again later. Customer service at this location is non existent. Went to 99 Ranch for the first time ever and OMG I'm in love. I don't know what everything was but I don't care. I want it all. And look how cheap the Ramune is! And I got a HUGE 3lb trout for only $18.99. They dressed it how I wanted. I could have even had it fried (but I have plans for it)! Got about 4 lbs of oxtails for $19.79. Found 4 lbs of riblets for $21( making Seonkyoung's air fryer riblets). The kitchen was closed but I'm going back SOON. read more

I am very elated that a large number of business are finally migrating towards south of Mission Valley. 99 Ranch is finally open in Chula Vista. It has occupied the old empty supermarket. The location is great, near the 805 and plenty of parking. Upon stepping in the store, one would notice the cleanliness and the organized ailes .stocked with your favorite Asian food and spices. There's also a small dim sum place where you can order your food to take home or you can eat at the designated area. The place is new so the take out selection is limited. We did enjoy the promotional $0.99 milk tea selection with purchase at the store. It's an Asian market so you would fine the fresh and live seafood selection. It's convenient and I would not hesitate to visit again. read more

I waited to avoid the mad rush of grand opening....Well not exactly...just finally found myself in that area so had to swing by for a quick stop. Maybe because there weren't throngs of people on a weekday or maybe because the store was bright, shiny and clean or maybe because I got to see how much Chinese I had forgotten while I listened to the announcements in Mandarin, but I found myself grinning from ear to ear as I walked the aisles. I freaking love 99 Ranch Market. It takes me back to living in Taiwan and so with one grocery visit I feel like I am transported to another continent without having to buy the expensive plane ticket. It was kind of funny listening to Bob Dylan sing "like a rolling stone" while shopping but I wasn't the only shopper bebopping down the aisles and tapping my foot to the music. The food choices here are phenomenal....even though it was a quick trip and I only grabbed a hand held basket I quickly filled it with enoki mushrooms, shitakes, oyster mushrooms and plain old button mushrooms. Their prices are extremely reasonable. I also got a pack of blue crabs for $4/lb and a variety of spring rolls. I didn't get to try the bakery but their selection rivals 85 degrees. If I could think of any negative I suppose it would be the fishy smell throughout but that's because there is a large selection of fresh and even live seafood. 99 Ranch is better laid out than Seafood City and much cleaner. I am going to trek over to this store to get a cartful of groceries next time! read more
