Located in the heart of Chula Vista, it is a family-owned bakery that specializes in traditional pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread), and custom cakes! Known for their fresh, daily-baked pastries, it features a self-service (tray-and-tongs) experience in a clean, welcoming environment! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Always making great recommendations for their customers! Parking can be a bit tricky with very few spaces available. Pricing is somewhat higher than it used to be, but then again so is everything else (like gas, lol). They have a great selection of conchas, polvorones, fresh bolillos, empanadas (chicken, beef, jalapeño cream cheese), and custom cakes! Typically, I get the empanadas de piña 10/10! They're so freaking delicious! They feature a golden, buttery, and flaky crust that shatters perfectly when bitten. I came in for the first time during Día de los Muertos and honestly the experience was a mix of highs and lows. The moment you walk through the door, the smell of fresh baked pan hits you and it is everything. The selection of pan dulce and bolillos had me feeling like I was back in Mexico City. So many options, beautifully displayed. That part alone almost made the trip worth it. But the customer service... yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed. I asked the lady at the register in Spanish if there was any chocolate pan de muerto and she completely ignored me. Like, didn't even look up. Just called someone from the back in Spanish, which, mija, I understood every word. The girl who came to help me was a little better but not much. She told me the chocolate pan de muerto was sold out, which fine, I get it, it was a holiday. But that's literally all you had to say. No smile, no "sorry we're out," nothing. Just took my money and that was that. The panadería itself deserves five stars. The staff needs some work. I'll probably go back for the pan because it really is that good, but I'm keeping my expectations low on the service side. read more

Was looking for a bakery near by to buy a cake. My cousin saw this place was close by and suggested we go check it out. Parking in the font limited to 15mins and there's no space to drive around it's literally the parking space and main road. The inside is clean and the pastries and bread were all behind the display window. The bread and other pastries are self serve they provide tongs and a tray. The cakes are beautifully displayed and we ended up getting an Oreo chocolate cake and asked if they could write on it and they did a beautiful job. We also ended up getting a concha, eclair and a cuerno. Everything was good love the bread it's perfect to pair with coffee. The Oreo cake was amazing moist and delicious. The staff is friendly. Maybe the renovation happened a while ago (maybe even a year or more?), but it was new to me--and it looks great. Fresh, welcoming, and still holding onto the charm that makes it a neighborhood favorite. We grabbed a box full of goodies, and I have to say--the chocolate chip cookie surprised me the most. It had that nostalgic, gooey-chewy vibe that reminded me of a classic Mrs. Fields cookie. My wife's favorite was the pumpkin empanada, and all the hot empanadas behind the glass looked amazing. We tried two: the spinach with ricotta and the chicken. Both were incredibly buttery, flaky, and flavorful--you can tell they put care into their dough. We're saving the rest of the treats for our kids (trying to be good parents... for now), but we'll definitely be back for more. Saw this bakery on TikTok and thought I would give it a try while I was in town. I went in earlier, so they had a lot of options. I bought a couple of vanilla concha's, some empanadas, donuts and a cortadillo. The empanadas were amazing! I do admit I don't eat those too often, but these had great crust and the filling was just the right sweetness. They were a little deflated, but I personally don't need a lot of filling. The flavors I got were Lemon, pineapple and guava. The lemon was my favorite. The donuts are average. The texture was a little dry and the icing is easy to melt and come off. The conchas were so tasty. The texture was nice and soft and the top was a nice added little sweet flavor to compliment the bread. My favorite was the cortadillo! All the cortadillos I have had in my life were always dry and the top layer hardly had flavor. This one was everything the others never could be. The breading was nice and soft. The top white icing had a nice sweetness, but not over sugary. I could use a little less bread, but I feel that's my personal preference. So this one was close to perfection. As for service, well it's not great, but it also isn't terrible. I feel like I probably would have to be a regular to get a positive vibe from them. Pastries, gelatinas, and empanadas are excellent. My suggestion would be to work on their customer service. At times, they can be a little rude and make you feel like a burden when asking questions. Today I went in and bought three strawberry gelatinas and several pan dulces Then it occurred to me that it is very difficult to distinguish between the strawberry and guava ones because they look the same and there are no labels to tell the difference. I asked the cashier if the three gelatinas I had purchased were strawberry or guava- after I had paid for them- she seemed bothered that I asked her. I asked her 3 times and she just stared at me and provided no answer.She kind of gave me the, "Don't bother me" look. Then I asked another worker that was next to her and she said she didn't know (at least she was honest) and told me to ask another worker that was next to her Then I asked the other worker and he was able to distinguish the difference, but it took me five-six trips to the refrigerator before I grabbed the correct ones. He could of easily walked over with me to the refrigerator and just assisted me rather than just standing there while I kept running back and forth asking him to identify the correct gelatinas. So the food is great, customer service not so much. My wife and I go 2-3 times a month and every now and then and encounter subtle customer service snags.I usually ignore it and move on. Today I left feeling like maybe I should look for another local bakery. I mean we are paying for a service, shouldn't we expect a good customer experience in addition to good food? read more

Recently ordered a full sheet cake for a Celebration of Life. The cake was beautiful! But the lightness of the cake was delicious. It had a lemon filling, not too tart & not overly sweet. The icing was a light buttercream, again not overly sugared. The service was attentive and the cake was ready on time for pick up. The bakery was recently remodeled which enhanced the ambiance. The pan dulce and other items are well displayed with name and cost. Everything there is so fresh and tasty. There are so many choices, I keep returning to try different things . This is a great Mexican bakery, which I discovered simply by driving down E Street. I picked up a couple of Mexican Croissants, also known as cuernitos, and a "nuez" pan dulce. The butter croissants were $1.60 each, and so was the nuez. Both breads were terrific. I had both croissants at room temperature, and their texture and flavors were very good. The nuez I heated in my convection oven, and it was outstanding. It tasted great. I really liked the variety of Mexican sweet breads this bakery offers. They also offer hot savory empanadas. Just the right amount of sweetness with bits of actual mango in the inner layers of frosting. I thought the cake was good too, but I usually prefer a cream cheese frosting for carrot cake. I also picked up a vanilla concha and an orejas de elephante. I'm sad that I was disappointed. My boyfriend ordered my birthday cake from here this week and it was somewhat disappointing. Apparently he asked for it to be decorated differently and it wasn't done how he wanted it. When we walked in to pick it up I saw all the pan dulces and had to get some because they all looked so perfect. One thing I noticed is the prices for the sweet breads were pretty outrageously overpriced but if it's good then I could justify it but unfortunately I couldn't justify it. Each bread was between $3-$4 each and so not worth it. They were pretty dry and didn't have flavor. I grabbed like 5 breads and it was $22 smh. When we came home and had the cake which was tres leches it was really really dry - disappointing. The Oreo filling was good and the light whipped cream topping was good but that was about it. We will never come back for cake or pan dulce. read more

Parking is a bit weird, but when you look past it, the array of desserts in the bakery makes you forget all about it. Was greeted immediately by a worker. Well, the only thing I've had from this bakery has been the cakes. I'll start with a slice of carrot cake, which was very delicious. Moist with a great flavor and if I would have to buy a full size carrot cake I would. I also had a slice of the mango cake same thing it was very tasty, but for my personal taste it was a little too sweet but then again it's not fair to say that it's sweet because my taste buds are overly sensitive but if mango flavor is what you're looking then this is the cake for you. If you need of a traditional tres Leche cake, you won't go wrong with this delicious cake. Once again it's not your typical highly sweet and soggy Tres leches cake. The flavor is on point moist and delicious. The service was very nice when I asked if they could decorate the cake a little out of the ordinary so it didn't look so plain and they did an outstanding job. I have been here a few times when I'd crave baked goods and/or conchas. They make their breads and pastries pretty fresh and they have a wide selection of goodies. I stopped by their newly remodeled bakery a few weeks ago. I came in, grabbed a tray and tongs and started piling my tray with goodies. They had different flavors of conchas and even had other items such as bread pudding. I don't believe I tried anything here that I did not enjoy. The only reason why I am deducting a star is because the last time I came by, I didn't realize that they didn't have parchment paper to put on the tray. My bread pudding was really moist and I was grossed out that it was sitting on the tray that may not be sanitized. It would have been nice to have something clean on the try before putting items on top. read more
