Wow was this delicious! Can definitely see why they are a top rated bakery in the nation. Came as a party of two on Sunday around 11am, waited about 15-20 min in line before ordering, though we didn't mind at all bc they offered us champagne and cherry soda in line! From ordering to actually getting our food at the table took about 10 minutes. We ordered: Muffuletta croissant: 4.6/5 for me (only bc I'm not a huge fan of olives yet somehow still loved it) and 4.8/5 from my husband. Great savory pastry with LOTS of filling. Absolutely delicious, would order again. Almond croissant: 5/5 for me, 4.7/5 from hubby (he's not a huge sweets fan but said this was the best one he's ever had)- I am a HUGE almond croissant fan, and this blows others out the water. Not too sweet, SOOO much almond topping and filling. Croissant itself was so buttery, flaky, and amazing. Makes other places almond croissants taste "artificial" haha. I'll be dreaming of this one.. Brown butter caramel knot; 5/5 from both of us. No words. Order this as a perfect dessert. Eat it warm while you can! Goes well with black coffee. Sourdough plate: we got roasted garlic, cranberry, and Lao Gan ma Gruyère. Came with Norwegian butter, flaky sea salt, and cherry preserves... overall we thought this was great for sharing, helps decide which loaf to order to-go! Hubby wasn't a fan of the Lao gan ma one but I personally liked the Asian-euro flavor combo. Gruyère was definitely the right cheese choice for this. The garlic loaf was both our favs- perfectly soft roasted garlic in EACH bite. Beware you will have garlic breath after (but so worth it). Cranberry loaf was yum too but maybe wouldn't get this as a loaf on its own if I had to choose only one to purchase. Overall- WE WILL BE BACK!! Carnitas croissant, you're next! @bubsgrubguide

*Experience from pre-order on a Wednesday ~10am* I pre-ordered 2 items (vanilla knot and almond croissant) around 10:10am, with expected completion at 10:42am. A few of the savory croissants were already sold out online. We arrived promptly, but to spare details, it wasn't ready until 11am...so we waited, watching people who ordered in-person receive their orders before us. A gentleman was also waiting for his order with expected pickup at 11am, but he didn't receive it until around 11:20am. After receiving the order, we sat down and immediately dug into the pastries. The Tahitian vanilla knot ($6) was alright, smaller than anticipated. The first piece I ripped off tasted a bit dry/stale. The center was just shy of warm, with the dough layers glued together by the semi-melted butter. It reminded me of a kouign amann that was a bit too doughy, and baked at the wrong temp, resulting in less than desirable layers. Almond croissant (~$12) looked great, but the flavor and texture were lackluster. It had been toasted, but there was a delay from getting the order out. As a result, the pastry had cooled down, and the split center was soggy from the frangipane cream. The two edges of the croissant that retained crispiness shattered, but the remaining croissant was a wet chore to get down. The interior and exterior seating is bridged by garage doors, which had a great indoor/outdoor feel, perfect for SD weather. Dine-in customers are served items on cutting boards and quarter sheet pans, which give it a heftier feel. Employees working are so friendly, albeit they seemed a bit stressed. It felt like they were understaffed (cashier said they only had one person in the back prepping pre-orders). Empty trays, boards, and cups laid around for a longgg time (maybe +45 min) before getting bussed. Feel like it'd be better if there was a dedicated bus-person, maybe a few more people working in the back, especially at these prices. I understand the ingredients are top notch, but sure the margins aren't THAT thin. Not sure if my experience is reflective of every pre-order, or just from that day. Would not recommend pre-ordering items that need to be reheated AND have cream inside. Overall, an *aesthetic* spot where the pastry quality did not match prices, paired with extremely slow service. I had high expectations but felt Izola missed the mark.

I was super intrigued to stop by this bakery because of their creative menu. Located in a corner near a park, the bakery was bright with a lot of windows and seating inside and out. The cashier was super helpful when I asked for the everything croissant and I didn't see it on display. He said they just freshly baked some so I was super excited to try! Everything croissant 4/5. I loved how hot and crispy the croissant was, but it was extremely buttery! I was holding the croissant with a napkin and it was soaked in butter within a few minutes. It was surprising to me how much butter it had. I've had many croissants but I've never had one that soaked my napkin. Regular croissant 4/5. As mentioned, it was also extremely buttery. Yes, I am aware it is a croissant, but I wish it was slightly less buttery and a little more flaky.

This is a cute bakery with garage doors and a nice outside area for seating that specializes in croissants and sourdough. My friends and I ordered an assortment of croissants, morning bun and different flavors of the sourdough on a board with homemade butter and jelly. For me, the morning bun was too sweet and not soft enough, and not enough cinnamon. Also the chocolate croissant was too crispy for my taste. The sourdough board was pretty good, but the Lao gruyere flavor was a little spicy if you are sensitive to spice, and the loaf with olives was very salty. They actually were out of a lot of their specialty croissants by the time we came here around 11 a.m. Service was great. Even though you order at the counter, they bring it to you, and Anthony made sure we had everything we needed, brought us extra utensils and took many pictures for us. He was awesome and deserves a shout out! For me, the treats were not so great for the price, but it's a cute place to hang and the coffee was good.

So so so so good. Visited from the Bay Area and I already know I need to come back ASAP! Came on a Tuesday morning, line was short, service was excellent, and food was delicious. The inside was nice and clean, and our table outside was perfect for the weather, facing a park so we got to dog watch too lol. We ordered the carnitas croissant combo with beer, a Tahitian vanilla knot, a chocolate croissant, and an iced coffee with caramel and oatmilk. The carnitas croissant was probably the best savory pastry I've had in a long time! The Tahitian vanilla knot was super sweet, which was just to my liking. The chocolate croissant you just couldn't go wrong with. I wanted the Moroccan olive croissant, but they were sold out by the time we got there which I think was around 10:30am so you probably need to get there early for that one! Coffee was perfectly sweetened while still having that coffee taste. Overall super happy we got to visit. Can't wait to come back and try other options.

Besides mimosa, coffee makes me smile.

Izola is one of those spots that had me determined to come back after my first attempt--only to find out they close early at 2pm (lesson learned). The space is bright and inviting with large windows and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for a casual hangout. Service was good- you order at the front and they bring it out to you. They're known for their sourdough bread, pastries, and coffee--but this isn't a full breakfast spot (no real protein options, which was a bit of a bummer for me). That said, the sourdough bread plate was delicious--you get to pick three varieties, served with jam, butter, and flaky salt. We also tried the brown butter caramel knot, chocolate croissant, and Tahitian vanilla knot--all solid choices. Drinks included mimosas and a caramel latte, both served in beautiful glassware that almost looks like it's floating. Bonus: it's right across from a dog park, which adds to the vibe if you're a dog lover. Overall, a great place for a quality "snack," to catch up with friends, or even get some studying done--but not the place if you're looking for a full meal.

We arrived on a Sunday around 10:30 and waited about 15-20 mins in line. They were out of a lot of items at the time that we ordered and I assumed they were just out for the day, but as we were leaving they had a lot more items available. We opted for the bibimbap croissant, regular croissant, and morning bun. All were decent! I didn't think anything was super memorable but I'm glad we tried. The pastries struck me as being more soft than anything else. Not a hugely impressive flavor profile or crunch factor, but certainly quite buttery and enjoyable to eat. It is quite a bummer to miss out on items just because they happen to not be ready at the time of ordering. If they continue to make items throughout opening times and not completely sell out for the day, you should be able to order something that's not necessarily ready at the moment but currently baking. There were at least 3 other items I would've tried had they done this.

Amazing croissant. We tried the bibimbap , almond , chocolate and all are amazing and huge. Nice area to hang out. Go early the line can go around the blocks a well as some items can ran out.

Fabulous bakery! The croissants are so soft inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. The savory Bibimbap croissant is huge and so tasty. I would honestly say it's addicting and enough for 4 people! We are with a group of 7. Food is great but the coffee is even better. It's in a former garage with windows everywhere. The seating could be more comfortable but it was passable. The tables and chairs are very small. The chairs are more like outdoor patio chairs. The actual outdoor patio has wood picnic tables. Clearly it's a bougie place with good food and a relaxed atmosphere. It is a great novelty. The service was good. The employees are nice with a great attitude. The only thing I would change is maybe having more comfortable, relaxing seating.

THE BEST ORIGINAL CROISSANT COMPARABLE TO THE ONES IN FRANCE!!! Omg so buttery, so airy, so crispy, and just perfect. They do their original croissants so well. The almond croissant was good and sweet and had generous amount of filling but the original is better imo. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BIBIMBAP CROISSANT SO GOOD!! Tender beef with a slightly spicy and very flavorful gochujung sauce. The sauce surprised me and complimented the croissant so well. The cucumbers were juicy and well pickled. $17 though so a bit pricy. Early in the mornings, the line is very short. But on a weekend early afternoon, there's a line out the door and gets pretty busy. But yes, they do have enough croissants and service was super fast. Also, such a cute and welcoming space to enjoy your time here.

    Vicki T.

I had the bibimbap croissant and pei pa kao herbal latte today. The croissants were really expensive. I will prefer a simple but really good croissant at other places. The bibimbap croissant was good - hot cause was spectacular and had so many ingredients within. The pei pa kao latte tasted like pei pa kao and milk and espresso, but I would not recommend. It's worth 1-time fancy experience, but not sure if it's worth having so many fruit flies around indoors... there were so many I could even start identifying and counting their eye colors. Outdoor dining and to-go orders should be better...

Izola is an artisan bakery in San Diego's East Village known for its small-batch croissants and wild sourdough, made with high-quality ingredients and served fresh and hot throughout the day. I love coming here in the mornings! My go-to is usually the Tahitian Vanilla Knot- a braided croissant with whole Tahitian vanilla beans steeped into the milk. Enrobed in a vanilla-scented glaze. It is divine! 9/10. My wife enjoys the Brown Butter Caramel Knot- made with brown butter and organic sugar, creating a sensual caramel that is simply delicious. The final touch is a light sprinkle of Maldon sea salt- chef's kiss! 10/10. The vibe is charming with a warm hospitality feel. Service is great! And prices are a bit higher than most bakeries in East Village, but totally worth it! Come try! You won't be disappointed!

Haven't been here in a hot minute. I preordered a few items online for pickup. So when I arrived there was a a pretty long line. However if you go inside there's a line just for preorders, whew. Speaking of inside, I love their space, it's such a good fit and has serious vibe much like their old location. Loud, live music, community, just a cool feeling on there. Also, the smell inside is so delicious. I mean warm bread is so comforting and welcoming. It reminded me of the original Pizzeria Bianca in Phoenix AZ. So many good memories there. Maybe Izola should venture into pizza and wine territory, just saying. I'll also say, my almond croissant was so so good! Lots of almond paste and oh so flakey and delicious. Their knots are above and beyond, the newcomer brown butter caramel was incredible. See photo and you'll be ordering one too! All in, love this place so much. I think doing pizza and wine in the evening would be stellar given how amazing their sourdough is. Again, just saying.

Inside seating, casual and cute very cafe like vibe; rating 6.6/10

Had a chance to check out Yiko Yiko after hearing lots about it and honestly, I had a feeling that…read moretheir products would be a on the pricier side. Many reviews have noted this, and I would have to agree, especially for the size (crepe cake slices) and/or simple design (two layer naked cakes). We ended up trying a slice of their taro crepe cake. It was tasty - light, smooth, and included real taro - and had alternating layers of cream and taro; however, we were surprised with how small it was in person (vs photos) for $12.50 before tax. This is just below the price for an Extraordinary Desserts cake slice, which is not only bigger and more complex, but also made fresh. We noticed the crepe cake slice we got had that dusting of ice sparkles, indicating it was frozen and defrosting, and additionally, as it defrosted, the more it started leaning. If you haven't tried Yiko Yiko, it's worth still checking out. That said, I think you'll be satisifed after one or two visits.

5/11/2026 CHOCO CHIP…read morePISTACHIO COOKIE Wow! This was reeeeally good! It was crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! LOCATED INSIDE ANOTHER STORE Located inside a store called Floral Palette, which is a floral shop and specialty gift store. Beautiful store! The sign is big, so you cannot miss it!

They are aesthetically beautiful. Out of the 6 flavor's I tried, I only liked 2. Tiramisu and pistachio. Spent about $90 for the 6. Pricey if you ask me. Blueberry was the best out of the fruit ones in my opinion, all of them have jelly filling, lots of mousse, and a thin shell. Peach was the least that I liked. Mango was surprisingly not very flavorful. The mushroom threw me off. It had a soft top, that tasted like chocolate pudding. I was expecting it to have a hard shell. The stem of it was rich and chocolatey. Pistachio was a dream. Very similar to Dubai chocolate. Tiramisu was good. Very mild coffee flavor. Wish it was a bit stronger. They have a water station available to wash the sweetness down. The shop is so so cute! Every influencer's dream. Walls are covered in teddy bears and there's photo op's available. Service-the girls that worked there didn't really engage with us, when we asked about the pastries. I had to get their attention because they were talking to eachother. When we walked in, a girl screamed and she told us "oh sorry I screamed, I thought you were our manager" it was weird. Why would you scream if your manager walked in? While we were deciding on what to get. We felt rushed because the girl kept saying, "is that it? Will that be all?" Kinda made us feel like an inconvenience. Instead of giving recommendations or just being patient with us. Overall, I'm glad I got try this place. I probably will go back for the pistachio and to try other menu items. The savory menu looks really good.
