What a joke of a " business " These people will very likely swindle you on a technicality. I took a dingo machine, and upon leaving with it - it took 45 minutes for the technician to Load it because the hydronic line wouldn't connect. I kept going out there to see what was going on and he finally loaded it I went inside and asked THREE TIMES if it was okay to take . They told me it would be fine and if it wasn't to call if we had issues. I said multiple times I didn't feel comfortable and didn't want any issues if I took it and it broke I left trusting what they said . A day into a three day fence job the hydronic line busted off . I immediately called them and told the front desk girl. She said to bring it back tomorrow and they would try to fix it or swap out . At this point I read reviews and I was not comfortable continuing to trust them so I brought the machine back. Online it said they opened at 7 am but when I got there nobody was there . I had to get to another appointment so I dropped the machine and left . I called and they said they wouldn't refund my deposit and they charged me for 3 days instead of two in the first place . Out of 1400 dollars I spent 1100 for a broken machine and the manager to get on the phone who has the intellect of a goldfish and basically tell me I'm dumb for not reading the contract and that there was nothing wrong with the machine when I left . Terrible business tactics and pretty sad they are even still in business . Read reviews on these guys . And don't even waste your time . Just go up to Fenton to k and k supply and get amazing service and they will actually do right by you. Stay away from this joke of a hole in the wall and people that can't just say " hey really sorry" and instead just take your money. Pathetic . read more

They have Lots of excuses, and unfounded misdirection.... The evidence is blatant in the negative feedback that they've earned. Just pitiful.... Unfortunately, this shop owner gets very defensive when asked about workmanship and billing issues. This morning I was told they wouldn't stand behind a repair, because of some miscommunication with my 14yo son. The issue conversation happened approximately one year ago. Wow!!!!!! It seems most of the responses to negative feedback, from this merchant, amount to denial and counter accusations. Common sense might suggest that the business owner needs to be more accountable, and less evasive. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I have rented from Common Cents rental for years without any problems until last week. I rented a tractor and as soon as I got it to the job-site it broke down. I immediately called the office and someone was sent out to fix the tractor. I was told it would take at least 3 hours, so I asked if I could just get a different tractor as it was late in the day and rain was coming. They refused and said I would only get an additional 3 hours added to my rental. This was unacceptable, not only because rain was coming, but also because I would be paying my crew over-time for something that was Common Cents rentals fault. They have lost my business. Very poor customer service. Update: VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. In retaliation for this negative review, instead of attempting to make things right with a customer, Jennifer Ficken and Brianna Ficken wrote negative reviews on my company. I was in a bind hanging drywall on the ceiling of my house. I attempted to do it without special equipment and ended up breaking a couple of glass items. I called Common Cents Rental for a drywall lift, which to my surprise, had one ready to go. Advice- use special equipment (drywall lift, etc). I rented a wood splitter for 24 hours. She did their talk and paperwork and sent me out to pick up the splitter in the yard. A guy came out and went to get a wood splitter and hauled it up. He said he needed to make an adjustment and went back into the shed. After some of time, he came out with a wrench. Wrong size. Went back in to the tool box to search. Back out. Tightened his bolt then walked back in to put his tool away. I asked about the gas and he said it's full and return it full. He opened up the tank and no gas was visible. He stuck his finger all the way in. Dry. He then said that the tank only fills half way up to the shut off and is actually a full tank of gas. He said the hydraulic hose has blown off on people and may blow off and to just put it back on if so. By the time I left it was closer to 8:30 although the time started was when I entered the office at 8:05. I got started on splitting wood and within 10 minutes it was out of gas. The tank was on empty though he assured me it was full and to return it full (they let me return it empty after it broke down). After about a half hour of splitting, the hose blew off and hydraulic fluid sprayed out, soaking me and my wooden adirondack chair with oil. I turned it off and cleaned up myself in the shower and the chair with soap and rags. I went and found tools and tried to put the hose back on, but the nut on the clamp just kept turning and wouldn't tighten because it was stripped. I called them and they said to bring it back to pick up another. Over a half hour drive one way from my house at 45 mph with the splitter on the back. I packed it up and locked up the house and got the pets in and drove the truck back to get the other splitter. She told me on the phone that she would give me another hour of rental time. I was not good with this and argued that I had spent more time than that with the delays and burned another 1/8 tank of gas to get there and back. When I returned it, the man owner was polite and helpful and agreed to another two hours of rental time for the troubles, time and gas. I thought everyone was happy. When I took the splitter back the next morning with no more problems, the girl behind the counter was polite and then told me that they have banned me from renting in the future because of my attitude. I said I didn't care because I'm not using them again, but they are being ridiculous because their lack of maintenance caused the trouble and they shouldn't be surprised that I got upset about it and went to leave. At that point the lady owner who I hadn't seen came out of the back and charged out into the showroom. Screaming at me to get out of her store. When I would try and talk, she would scream and cut me off and not let me talk. When I said it was her lack of maintenance that caused my problems with the splitter, she grabbed a pile of paperwork and screamed "THESE ARE THE MAINTENANCE REPORTS!!" I purposely remained calm and soft spoken as she screamed to "GET OUT OF MY STORE OR I'LL CALL THE POLICE!!". I calmly said "Is this how you treat customers? Yell at them?" She screamed even louder, "GET THE **** OUT OR I'LL CALL THE POLICE!!". I was shocked. I don't use the f word and it started coming out of every sentence from her. I quietly said "Oh you cuss too, how impressive." She got even closer to me screaming to get out and I calmly and softly said "What are you going to do, hit me?". As she kept screaming at me to get out, a polite man employee with long silver hair in a ponytail came out of the back and calmly and gently said to me "Let's go" and I instantly turned and quietly walked out of the store. I left and she slammed the door on me and I heard the door lock behind me. If there are any other rental agencies you can choose other than this one in the St. Louis area, I highly recommend that you use it for reliable equipment and for mature, calm and professional assistance. read more

Do not waste your time!!! Nothing but tired machines and issues! They told us we would have the machine until Wednesday then picked it up on Tuesday (we had the key hidden due to the fact they said they would pick it up Wednesday) then they didn't even call trying to find the key and took the machine. Terrible customer service! We were not offered another machine after ours continually broke down EVERY DAY and had to constantly use starting fuel to get the thing to start. I've rented aerial lifts from Common Cents for 3 years to hang Christmas lights. The 1st year was their Bil-Jax 3632T (36') lift which worked fine. The 2nd year I rented the same but it had issues with self-leveling so they offered their other lift, a Bil-Jax 4527A (45') lift which worked fine. In 2018 I reserved the 4527A again since it had no issues self-leveling. Taking off from work to hang lights I arrived at Common Cents and backed in to hook up the lift. The guy working there wanted to check if my 2014 Pilot EX-L (4WD) had the capacity to tow it, given concerns about liability if they allowed me to leave with the lift w/o proper towing means. I get that. Well he said that my Pilot didn't have the capacity so that was that. I retuned home and googled that my Pilot is capable of towing 4500lbs. The 4527A is 3880 lbs with a tongue weight of 170 lbs. I called back to inform them of this and the guy wanted me to bring "proof" that my Pilot could tow. I suggest that he could google it and that I don't have the desire/will to "prove" the capacity of my Pilot. I will be getting my lift from another local rental place which is a little further way. Disappointed as I am attempting to support a local business that is the "little guy" compared to the other local rental place. read more

Do not rent heavy equipment from here. After a malfunction with our first machine and a whole day of work lost they graciously rented us a second machine. That machine also malfunctioned and cost another whole day of work trying to get it loaded and back to the rental office. This second encounter was horrible. The staff was incredibly rude and ganged up to accuse us of misusing the machine, dents, dirt,etc Anything they could to ADD charges instead of refunding the rental cost. They had quickly ushered us out with the second machine without offering the paperwork rental checklist/current state. It seems like they are purposely running a scheme by renting out faulty equipment and then trying to hit customers with large fees. Do not do business here! read more
