I came for the service not knowing what to expect, it's an inclusive and welcoming service. Today the service was full of God talk but the loving, kind, and wisdom sharing god. I felt renewed, peaceful and glad I came after service. The service included a guided meditation, welcome to visitors and affirmations. There was a bookstore, beautiful gardens, and hosted potluck lunch afterwards. It was a beautiful introduction to the church and space. Everyone we met was kind and welcoming, definitely coming back. Their bookstore had Brene Brown, Ken Wilber, Joseph Villolodo, Sonia Choquette and several other interesting options. I was sold because it reflects my own library.

There weren't any scary rituals or anything, so that's always nice when visiting a new church. Also, I've never seen a church with flat-screen TVs, but like I said, it has been a while... Pastor Tom (who I hear is no longer at this church) was both friendly and a good speaker, but he did make it feel a little awkward after he preemptively scolded everyone about cameras and cell phones.

I am an atheist. I have never felt comfort in religion at all. Zero. I went in and sat in the…read moreback, just minding my own business, and not bothering anybody. I was just curious about this church next to my house. To my surprise, even after I told the employees that I am an atheist, they did not hesitate to make me feel like I was family. They didn't try to convert me, they didn't lecture me about the love of Jesus, and so on. They just made me feel welcome, as if we've known each other forever. They spoke in a normal human real life manner. It didn't sound like they were reading a script like you normally hear religious people. They sounded like they were talking out of their hearts. I was blown away by the humanity and genuine love coming out of the people of this church. Then I went to this Beautiful little garden in the back, and did what I always do, which is take photos of everything, and I noticed, they didn't ask me any odd questions, and instead the people just wanted to be friends. It was so relaxing. It was probably the most relaxing time I've had in a long time, first, sitting in the beautiful hall and listening to the nice sermon and the great music, and then just walking around in that beautiful little garden, taking photos and meeting all the wonderful people there, whether they were people in my own age group or people older than me. I will never be anything more than an atheist, but I will return to the church every week because it's such a relaxing and fun experience. It just gives you all the feels. The place itself is beautiful, and the Catholic tradition is pretty cool with all the beautiful outfits worn by the religious leaders, and their attitude is all about genuine love. Who doesn't want an hour of just cool, loving people, teaching you little life lessons and having really mellow nice music and cultural stuff happening. I love it. It's a nice getaway from daily life. At this point, I would be honored to be carrying the title Catholic, because I would love to be a representative of such a wonderful Community of people. I look forward to next week. Still an atheist, but head over heels for my experience with this church. The pianist.....wow was he amazing! The violinists where just to die for! The kids walking around in their respective roles as religious....whatever they are, where so focused on their place in the system that I felt like I was in a monestery. It was really cool. But my favorite was.....the sermon wasn't preachy. It didn't involve the things you hear on youtube videos that make you feel....anything but good. No. It was all about learning how to push yourself to your best, so you can be the best that you can be for yourself, and your community. I loved how the pastor wasn't about scaring people with hell and stuff. I hate that kind of dialogue. Nope. He reminded me of what my mother taught me as a child. "Love others for the sake of love. Not for anything else. Love because you want to love. Because you enjoy love. Don't expect things in return" that was the feeling this whole church gave off. See you next week my new favorite Sunday hangout.
