Adorable and spacious spot in North Park that offers a good selection of beers on tap and tasty sandwiches. I got the chicken katsu sandwich and an order of fries. The chicken on the sandwich was THICC THICC lol. It was a little too soft in the middle and not as crunchy on the outside to balance the texture for me but was otherwise a good flavor. The fries were damn good. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is perfect for grabbing a snack and watching a football or sports game on tv. They also have little board and card games you can play with friends while you're there! Def a cute spot worth checking out if you're in to this kind of cuisine!

This North Park suite was the short-lived home of an Asian-based collective and prior to that was a longtime vegetarian eatery. Common Table is the new business that has now taken over this space with its gastropub setup. There was some social meetup event taking place when I arrived as a large group occupied most of the seating area. Sixteen beers were on tap that cost between $7 and $9 each. For food, there was a one-page menu listing shareables, specialties, loaded fries, tacos, bowls, and desserts. Two items were unavailable at the time, the Bossom Spring Rolls and the Adobo Tacos. I selected the other taco which was a Chashu version and one of the three bowls, the Longanisa. About 15 minutes later, my takeout order was ready in plastic containers inside a bag. Braised beef, Oaxacan cheese, wasabi crema, cabbage, and pickled onions was the description of the Chashu taco. It's difficult to tell from my photo, but the taco was small for $5 and had a lot of cabbage without a better proportion of meat that was beef braised with a chashu flavored liquid. The Longanisa bowl contained white rice, cucumber salad, kale kimchi, fried egg, and a pork sausage patty. I have never experienced longanisa in a patty form before which was interesting. The item seemed to be their Longanisa Burger that was deconstructed and served as a bowl with rice replacing the buns as the carb component. The flavors were fine, however the serving size was a bit small for $13. I didn't try their signature Katsu Sando, but I plan to return and give that a shot. Based on what I sampled, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my experience at Common Table.

My husband and I tried this place on a weekday lunchtime. We grabbed to go as I didn't have a long enough lunch for a sit down meal. The staff was friendly, welcoming and happy to answer any questions. I got the katsu sandwich while my husband got the longanisa bowl. Both were delicious and very satisfying. The only thing I would have liked added was maybe some katsu sauces on the side- it would have brought my rating from 4 to 5 stars. The restaurant was clean and inviting. There was seating there and looks like decent happy hour deals as well so I'm sure I'll be back.

A very cozy place with delicious food and fast service! The menu doesn't have too many options, so we ordered the Katsu Sando and the Longanisa Burger -- both were excellent! The sando had soft, melt-in-your-mouth chicken with the perfect sauce, and the burger had an interesting and tasty combination of egg and patty. Our food arrived about 10 minutes after we ordered. The interior is neat and clean, and the restroom was well maintained too. There's no parking directly in front of the entrance, but you can park on the nearby streets and walk over. I highly recommend this place!

Executive summary: Flavor: 5/5 Drink menu: 4/5 Good groups:5/5 Service: 5/5 Kid friendly:5/5 I'll categorize the food here as Asian fusion but needle right in the middle of that category. I ordered the katsu sandwich. Fresh bun, delicious breaded chicken and not overbearing on the sauce. If you're hungry order this dish. We also ordered the adobo tacos, it is a three pack of tacos. We enjoyed the adobo style flavor but not overpowering on the vinegar ingredient that my Mom would use when she made this dish for scratch. We also enjoyed the seaweed salad. To top off this meal for dessert we ordered the sweet potato brûlée. The Brûlée dessert was pleasantly delicious. The brûlée was the filling and the outer shell was crispy. I lean more on the sweet side of dishes and the brûlée stole the show for me! I met the Owners, Nate and Megan nice and very welcoming. There is plenty of real estate inside so this place is great for groups and kid friendly. Parking can be limited in the area but there is paid parking lot on the south side of University avenue. Happy hour starts at 4 pm. We got there at 3 pm and there were some patrons starting to arrive. There are a lot of choices in this area, I hope you add this place to your hit list. Enjoy!

In the space that used to occupy the Bear Buns Bakery/Sipz kitchen, Common Table offers Asian flavors with the comfort of bar food (bowls, shareables, handhelds) and ambiance. Shogun, Elbolden, and local drafts on tap, and for their soft opening weekend they advertised $5 pints and a discount on shareables. Within their first hour of opening on Sunday, they were sold out of the bossam spring rolls, so I ordered their seaweed salad to pair with the katsu sando (~$24 total). They're typically open Tuesday-Thursday but are soft opening other days of the week. You walk up and order at the bar, but there's bar seating, two & four top tables inside, as well as self service utensils and water. Their seaweed salad was fresh, and the katsu sando was one of the best that i've had. The katsu was filling and balanced well with the sauce and toppings.

Recently stopped by this spot and was seriously impressed their katsu sando is amazing! The bread is perfectly soft and toasted just right, and the katsu itself is super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. You can tell they put care into every detail from the quality of the meat to the balance of the sauce. It's one of those sandwiches that hits every time. Definitely one of the best I've had, and I'll be coming back for more. Highly recommend!

Love the twist on Filipino food, I need to try their fries next time but I was really looking forward to the Longanisa burger. They did not disappoint! The meat was juicy, sweet, citrusy (calamansi?) and combine with the egg just made it overall delicious. Had a bite of my bf's Katsu Sando and that was amazing too. The bun was buttery and the katsu was crunchy and tender! The inside is casual, Japanese style decor, very trendy and cozy! Service was quick, i highly recommend this place!

Incredibly moist chicken katsu! The sandwich was a satisfying size and was so perfectly juicy that I almost questioned if it was actually chicken. Outstanding. I almost wish there was a spicy option or element I could've added to the sandwich but it didn't need it at all. It was great! I also ordered a side of the adobo (much to my Filipino wife's dismay) and it was great! Even my wife agreed it was good despite her mom not making it! Honestly my favorite adobo outside of her kitchen or Tita's kitchenette Great place, I will definitely be back.

First, we had the katsu Sando. Thank you for using chicken thigh! It was so juicy and decadent. The slaw brightened it and the sauce added depth. The fries were crisp and had a slight kick. Second, we had the spring rolls. Damn, it's big and thick! ... #thatswhatshesaid ... But for real, one spring roll to them is about one and half of a regular spring roll at a Vietnamese grocery store in a strip mall. Just as fresh. Just as hearty. Just as delicious. Definitely a great value for your money. The dipping sauce was a smoky accompaniment. IMO it tasted like guajillo chili paste. It was a nice change from vinegar and fish sauce. Lastly, we did the chashu tacos. Smoky. Hearty. A little messy but crisp on the edges. A little drippy. All the qualities that make a bomb a$$ taco. Highly recommend this place. It's great for either a quick snack or full meals or just a place to share a bunch of stuff with friends. It was just straight up delicious. I'm looking forward to coming back.

This restaurant truly blew me away with how awesome the food was!! I'm still drooling. The Katsu Sando was incredible. It had such a good crispy/crunchy outside but the chicken meat inside was so soft and tender! You could easily pull it apart with your fingers it was so tender and perfect. The bun on the sandwich was so yummy too. I have always hated pickles my whole life but these pickles are different! Super thinly sliced and they have a great flavor, almost like kimchi. The slaw on the salad also had a great sauce/flavor. We also tried the bowl with Adobo meat and it was also incredible!! The meat had such a nice flavor/seasoning and the addition of cumquats in the bowl was a very welcome surprise. Fantastic food. Great atmosphere - the space itself is very large with tons of seating. Cute decor everywhere and an airy, modern vibe. They even had board games for us to play! Really nice spot, can't wait to come back.

We stopped here for lunch. The menu is kind of eclectic, so it intrigued us. The katsu chicken is amazing! Below are pictures of a katsu sandwich as well as the katsu bowl. We also got a seaweed salad which was very sooo good. And, as great as the katsu and seaweed salad were, the adobo tacos were even better. They were my favorite! We all really liked the flavors in all the menu items we tried. The service was fast. Carlene, who took our order was happy, friendly and helpful. After our food arrived and we had time to eat, the chef came out to check to see how we liked everything. It's nice to see people who love what they do and care about quality.

Chashu tacos not fully in picture bc I couldn't wait to eat them. Delicious. Banana matcha bun is a must try!
