"Adobada looks very disappointing" People on TikTok have been really hyping this spot up lately, so I went in expecting it to be one of those "best in San Diego" type places, but honestly that's exactly why you can't always trust food influencers who base everything off one bite and a good angle. First thing I noticed was the parking situation is rough there's basically none, and you can't even risk street parking because it's marked red, so right away it already starts off inconvenient. When we got there, the tables weren't clean, which kind of kills the vibe before you even order, but I will say the carne asada mulita actually surprised me in a good way, it was solid, flavorful, and probably the best thing we tried. They also have a bigger version called the keka that I didn't get, but I could see that being more filling if the mulita is any indication. Customer service was decent, nothing special but not bad either, just kind of there doing their job. Overall though, even with a good item on the menu, it's not enough for me to say this place lives up to the hype TikTok is pushing. In my opinion, in San Diego it's still hard to beat Tacos El Gordo, and I've seen people online try to downplay it saying places like Chula Taco are better, and I just don't think that's accurate from a real first-hand experience standpoint. At the end of the day, TikTok food reviews can be entertaining, but a lot of times it feels like people are just chasing views instead of consistency or credibility, and you really have to try places yourself before believing the hype. The adobada was a negative 5 stars just look at it adobada is not supposed to look like :( #Tacos #SanDiegoFood #TacoReview #FoodReview #StreetTacos #CarneAsada #TacoLovers #FoodTok #EatLocal #TacoLife

Did someone say taco Tuesday? We had to come and try the viral keka. It's the size of 3 tacos.... HUGE!! The hubby was very happy. My favorite was the taco de labio. Great service & vibes. * Keka De Carne Asada * Taco De Labio * Taco Al Pastor * Taco De Carne Asada #DiningWithTheAndersons #TacoTuesday #ComidaMexicana #TryingNewPlaces #ChulaTacos

I read that Chula Tacos has Tijuana style charcoal grilled carne asada and I was interested.  There is parking on side streets and their private parking lot which fills up when the lunch crowd hits around 11:30am.  I noticed they make their own tortillas. Carne asada taco had moist corn tortilla which had a nice mild flavor.  Carne asada was tender with a little smokyness and a hint of sweetness from the marinade.  Great tasting taco. Adobada taco featured the same freshly made tortillas and tender, moist adobada.  Adobada was full of flavor and had a bold pineapple flavor.  Very good tasting taco. Service was speedy and the staff friendly.  Great taco shop.  Wish it was closer to home.

The Carne Asada Keka, giant Corn Tortilla with melted white cheese on the bottom, Carne Asada meat & Guac, amazing!

For the most part yes the hype is real especially with the Keka taco. They have me with the Carne Asada Keka, I love it! With the hand made strong corn tortilla & delicious guac that Keka is one of the best Mexican items I've ever tasted, the asada meat is also very good, charcoaled to perfection. The prices here are very affordable, prices are lower than most taco shops & portions are good. The other taco I loved was the Tripa taco & honestly probably the best Tripa I've had in SD, the Pollo asado taco also very good. The other tacos were ok, the Adobada one to me was too seasoned to my liking & Birria under seasoned. One interesting thing here is they don't have Cabeza tacos they have Labio which they said it's the same, no not for me, similar yes but not the same, not a fan, Salsas are good. The customer service is good from the counter, cooks & Drive Thru, yes they have a Drive Thru which is cool. Parking ain't that great tho during peak hours. Over all it's a very good taco shop I will come back to & in my top 3 in SD for sure, it's that Keka that brings me back baby. Unfortunately they had an accident fire & will be shut down for about 4-6 months for repairs. But they have another location in the South Bay in IB that I will try & you should too. Good Vibes prayers & good luck Chula Taco on reopening. I will see you tho in your other location & get that Keka Carne Asada & Tripa Taco :)

Parking sucks. The trash can was overflowing, which didn't make a great first impression. The girl at the register was rude for no reason. We were there at 8:45 PM on 2/22/26. Food: The tacos were delicious. We ordered 4 carne asada and 2 al pastor. They were packed with meat and full of flavor. 3 stars because customer service should match the quality of the food. The food deserves 5 - the experience does not.

This bustling taco shop appears to be the go -to for a quick Mexican meal. They specialize in tacos but have much more on the menu. It sits feet from Palm Avenue with a small parking lot. There are two grills outside in front where they grill whatever they need but mostly chicken. Chula Tacos advertises the keka taco that was delicious. Available also is horchata and various other juices. They have seating both inside and outside. The place seems always busy and popular. The staff is friendly and the primary language is Spanish.

First time at Chula Tacos and let me say the Keka is huge! I had the mixed meat (Carne Asada and Al Pastor) with everything on it. Loved it! It was so heavy (weight wise) at first but I was able to eat it like a taco. That alone is a meal. The Vampiro was also great! The inside was very busy however, we were able to get a table before our food came. It was a little noisy inside but bearable. I would come back. Great alternative for Mexican tacos besides Taco El Gordo.

Chula tacos is a great spot down south for some authentic carne asada. They have an actual mesquite charcoal grill out front where they make the meat, leading to a unique Smokey flavor in the tacos made the authentic way. Can't speak for the other tacos here but the carne asada was one of the best. The restaurant has some seats inside and a few outside, the service was prompt, and the prices overall fair. Would defitniely return for more carne asada tacos!

Home of the Keka is how Chula Tacos markets itself and of course you have to get one! Walking in, I appreciate the clear menu of options and even the description of each taco (Vampiro, Gringa, Keka, Mula, etc) since I sometimes forget what the differences are. Espcially since I have never had a Keka, it was nice to see the description. Service was friendly and quick and they will bring the food to your table. Inside was clean as well. The best thing I had was actually the Al Pastor taco! The meat was very tender and super tasty. They also provide a generous mound of guacamole on top. I've never had a Labio Taco before and that was also very good. Super soft and had even more fatty bits than other meat cuts I've had. We got the Carne Asada Keka and it's essentially a large quesadilla that's folded like a taco filled with cheese, meats, and all the fixings. Because of the tortilla, it reminds me of a flatbread in texture/thickness. While really good, I do think the carne asada meat wasn't as flavorful as the other meats so I'd recommend getting al pastor with it next time. It's obviously really big so it is a fun experience eating it, but I would personally go for a regular taco or mula since the portions and bites are better in those versions.

I wanted to try this spot instead of Tacos El Gordo, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The keka was really good, and everything tasted like it came straight from TJ, tons of flavor. There's a constant line but it moves by pretty quick. I'd definitely come back.

Chula Tacos and I mean this with my whole heart ! this is my number one taco spot in San Diego. I honestly wish this place had way more reviews because it LEGIT deserves nothing but 5 stars. All I need to say is: the adobada tacos are OUT OF THIS WORLD. And don't even get me started on the chili oil... it will forever be my favorite. I truly can't eat here without it. Out of the countless times I've been, they were only out of it once and I was truly devastated... but the tacos are so bomb they made up for it. I've been here more times than I can count, and I always bring people from out of town - it has never failed. Always a hit. I can really only vouch for the adobada and cabeza tacos because they are THAT good ! flavorful and those homemade tortillas take everything to another level. I did notice the cabeza was taken off the menu, which hurt a little but if you love adobada, you NEED to come here. You won't regret it. I've tried the keke and it wasn't really my thing, but I might feel differently if I try it with adobada instead. As for the asada tacos, they can be good at times if you eat them hot and on the spot, but they really need more flavor. I finally made my way to the new location, and I'm beyond excited for the team and truly celebrating this growth with y'all! I did love when you were closer, but I'm hyped knowing there's another location coming even closer to me. No matter what, this will always be my favorite spot for adobada tacos. Price: zero complaints Parking: new lot has a good amount of parking. The guy driving us at the old location really added to the experience and will be remembered, IYKYK. Bottom line: if you're in SD and haven't tried Chula Tacos yet... you're missing out. Period.

Pay to order service, seat anywhere and inside and outside. The best quesadillas in town! so tasty so juicy highly recommend! Ambiance is ok! VERDICT: I WILL COMEBACK

Chula Taco has recently moved to the community of Nestor, in South Bay on Palm Ave. I had two al pastor tacos and one carne asada taco at $3.50 each. Both tacos were very good. I was however a little disappointed that the al pastor meat did not come right off the trompo. It was already prepared and warmed up on the hot griddle. The meat was tasty but did not offer that juicy and smoky flavor right off the spinner from the direct flame. The carne asada was well seasoned and tender. They prepare the meat over wood charcoal right in front of the restaurant, so you get that great flame grilled flavor on the meat. Both tacos came with a generous amount of freshly prepared guacamole, which was very good. The corn tortillas were very good, too. The service at the counter was very nice. Both, the young lady at the counter and the one who brought my food to me were very sweet.
