Before I get to the food, I want to say THANK YOU to our lovely server who welcomed us warmly, made sure we always had what we needed, took our photo, and got our orders right. Now the food...let's start with a shout-out to the kitchen who perfectly executed the widely varied burger topping and temperature combinations for six people. My meal...magically battered onion rings and mushrooms followed by one of the finest burgers I've ever swallowed. 8 oz of flavorful medium rare juicy bliss on a fantastic bun topped with lettuce tomato pickle and cole slaw joy. Truly heaven and I remembered to eat it slowly. Thank you Redcoat for transporting me back to a simpler time when everyone agreed.

I had to add ketchup to amp up the flavor. At first, I attributed it to the Scotch egg I had, a soft-boiled egg wrapped in well-seasoned sausage and fried. Both the sausage and the accompanying sauce were savory and tasty. And then, I thought, potentially, it was the battered onion rings that dulled my taste buds. However, logically, the Brasserie burger includes bacon, caramelized onions, and Dijon mustard, flavors that are not muted nor shy about shouting their presence. I checked my leftovers and found no evidence of those add-ons, and then found my receipt. I was charged for a plain hamburger, so at least I didn't pay more than I should have. But I was disappointed not to have received what I ordered. Service was otherwise fine.

The menu is vast and features a lot of traditional Irish inspired options and they are famous for their signature boxties. I recently had their Burrata Caprese salad and it was delicious! The tomatoes were fresh and the balsamic glaze was well balanced with the baby greens dressed in a light vinaigrette . For my drink I had the Dragonberry Mojito and it was refreshing, but could've been a little stronger. The staff was friendly, but service was a little slow and our waiter didn't check on us as often as we would've liked for water refills. They have a great happy hour from 3 to 5 PM with half off all appetizers and house wine for only $3!

It was a bit loud from patrons and the restaurant had a steady course of 70s music, which was OK by me. Jeff as our server was a delight! He took good care of us. We stuck around long enough that we hated to see him moving on to the room for a party celebration. We even tried to order a second meal but they had to make way for reservations! We will be back! Our food was soooo good! I had the B-Fast Sandy and one pancake. My bestie had the shrimp & grits plus three different flapjacks! The pancakes/flap jacks are huge. I've been there several times with my son and always had a good experience. However, today I walked in and it was like nobody saw me and I stood there at the entrance and I stood there. Two gentlemen came in behind me and the girl saw them and she seated them and then she saw me and she said 'are you here to eat' I said, "of course I'll take the seat by the window facing Maple" and she said "OK go ahead and I'll bring you a menu"! She never did. Eventually, the Server who was working that table. She saw me and she was training another person today and she says I'll be right with you! Well, a minute turned into another minute and another minute and several other people came in and then she came to me and said "what are you having?" I said "I don't know. I don't have a menu!" "Oh" she said "She didn't give you a menu!" I said, No, She didn't give me anything"! So the Server and her trainee went and got me a menu and a glass of water, silverware and napkin! After waiting and waiting for my server and her trainee to return and more people to be seated, my server returned and took my order! Lobster bisque and halibut with green beans no potatoes! Then, for more waiting! And I waited and waited and waiting! They brought my lobster bisque! I tell you! They just do not know how to make a lobster bisque in Birmingham thus far! Not up to par. It was orange and not a bit of lobster in it! Nor the smell of lobster was nowhere near it! I don't know what these restaurants think lobster bisque is. Did not even return to remove my bowl or replenish my water! Never saw them again! Then, I waited another long time until they brought out my main course which was pathetic and the sauce with it was so salty that I couldn't even use it so I did sprinkle some lemon on the fish and try to eat it. The best thing about the meal was the green beans! I ate part of the fish, but it was more or less tasteless! Not one time did my server come to check on me to see if everything was OK and as she was bringing me my check, she poured me some more water, that was really good. The only time she checked on me! The water. Did I tip her? Hummm NO! Oh no oh no! I'm a very good tipper for good service! What could improve? Everything!
