    Baypath Humane Society

Baypath Humane Society is personally, what I believe, one of the best shelters out there. I could…read moretell that the staff members really love the animals they take care of and do their best to match you with the perfect cat or dog. They do everything possible to make sure it works out and that the animal finds the best forever home. I also loved how the staff members did not hide any of the medical history of the animal from you. They are completely honest and make sure you are committed / are willing or can afford the type of treatment the animal needs. 10 out of 10 recommend going to Baypath to adopt your next fur baby. The dog I was matched with is the sweetest girl and I love her to pieces. She was just what I was looking for and more. I may have never adopted the dog I adopted if Katie didn't lead me to Mila. She picked the best dog for me! :)

I was told the dogs were all closed in and I needed to request to see particular dogs inside the office. I went in the office. There was a nice very young woman there. I said I wanted to see two dogs and gave her the names. She said to me; do you live alone and do you have a dog? I said yes to both. she then said the two dogs that I identified were very frightened and if I did not take them home today or tomorrow, they're not available for viewing. I'm simply reporting this because it's ridiculous. There adoption policy should be reviewed or this young woman re educated. One can easily see how this policy would first deter people from considering a certain dog and second result in a failed placement. I adopted two dogs from this facility many years ago, this type of hard sell approach did not exist.

It was clear to me that they really know each of their cats and care for them very well--they took the time to get to know me and understand what I was looking for, and suggested a cat who seemed like the perfect fit. They both were eager to answer all of my many questions throughout the process and even helped me out by dropping my new kitty off since I don't have a car. My girl had a few minor health issues after arriving (most likely due to the stress of moving/change in food) and Susan offered me advice about different things I could try and followed up numerous times to make sure she was settling in okay. The process overall couldn't have been any smoother and I am so appreciative of Guardian Angels and the care and diligence they put into finding good homes for all of their cats. If I ever decide to adopt another cat I'll definitely work with them again.

All have vet visits, great food, and most importantly, attention and caring to help their transition from whatever their previous situation was. The fostering process is great at getting the cats ready for their new homes. If you're looking for a cat, I suggest Guardian Angels without reservation!

This place has stars at all because the cats are super friendly and so sweet and deserve a home!!!…read more CONS: I volunteered at this place when I first moved out of my house and started living on my own. I worked three jobs and volunteered every Friday morning and whenever else they called me to come in to scoop litter. The cages are not the cleanest and are actually sorta cramped. There are TOO many cats for the size of the place. One time they took a cat who was positive for FIV (Feline Aids) and had it in a cage squished between all of the other cages! They put blankets to isolate it but it seemed way too cramped and dangerous to me! Obviously the place is run by volunteers. I congratulate them for trying to help the cats in need. Cats need all the help they can get and I am happy this place exists. Whenever someone is looking for a cat I tell them to go here. The only problem is, the owner is the biggest asshole on the planet. Every time I tried to adopt a cat she would make up a reason it couldn't leave the shelter, even going so far as to take one of the completely healthy cats to her house! I filled out an application, brought in the $100, brought in references for one cat. When my boyfriend and I came in she harshly said the cat isn't even ready to be adopted and that I had been turned down by whatever authority looks over the papers. But I know it was just HER! She said her reason was that my mom had brought a bird back to PetCo one time and claimed I'd do the same to a cat. It was ridiculous. I argued with her because I was so hurt. I had been looking forward to adopting the cat for a month and my boyfriend and I had gotten the house ready for him. My boyfriend is a dog handler and a very kind person. I have owned cats before and love them with all my heart. But she still turned me down and said I was unfit to own a cat! That was 2 years ago and to this day I still remember it. Very offensive, rude, pushy and she can't take care of that amount of cats. One even escaped into the ceiling. I knew how to get the cat to come out and she wouldn't let me do it my way so the cat stayed up there for a week. Make sure you're 30+ years old when adopting cats or she'll be very prejudice based on your age. And apparently I am unfit to own a cat, but worthy to volunteer to take care of them... I now have three healthy, happy, loving cats. Wish I was able to adopt the cats I had liked at her shelter, but mine are just as great.

I wasn't planning on writing a review, but Joe's review is prettyyy shocking to me…read more We have two pups from Pawfect Life. Our first pup, Cory, we adopted when we were renting a small home, no fenced in yard. Most rescues would have refused us as we did not own our own home and did not have a fence. We spoke with Julie multiple times, gave references and explained our desire to have a high-energy pup as my husband and I both enjoy hiking and running. Julie looked at our lifestyle and us and decided to introduce us to Cory. It was a great experience and he is an absolute perfect dog for our lifestyle. About a year later we decided to get a second dog. Julie had a couple in mind and we brought Cory in for a meet and greet. He got along fabulously with Tango (as Julie predicted) and we brought her home and never looked back. I have directed countless friends and family members to Pawfect Life and they have all had fantastic experiences. Julie is an amazing person who truly cares about the wellbeing of every one of these dogs. I'd never go anywhere else.

I'm glad they can be so selective on who is worthy of adopting from them or not, but they were…read moreextremely difficult to work with. First off, I had to email them weekly to figure out the status of my application. This went on for literally like two months. Just for them to turn around and say they don't think we're ready for a dog yet?? As if it's THEIR place to say if we are or not. We visited with a puppy there. Two couples had met with that dog first, then us, then another couple AFTER us. This puppy didn't get a single break from that room that whole time. The woman who facilitated our visit was extremely snobby, saying she doesn't think we're ready. I would like to add that this was AFTER we jumped through hoops to fill out their applications and find four people to give us recommendations. We went even further and got FIVE. Five people who said they believe our family is prepared to adopt a dog and properly care for them. I was beyond devastated when our adoption coordinator emailed us and told us she doesn't think she can work with us. This was the first time we put ourselves out there and filled out an application after losing our dog in a horrific, traumatizing accident a few years ago. Just to be treated this way is really disheartening and now we're afraid to even try and reach out to other shelters. I may use a fake name on here, but I'm sure they know exactly who we are. I'm assuming they don't tell many families with kids that they're "not ready" and shouldn't have a dog. Or maybe they do, I wouldn't be surprised about that either. They are clearly not THAT interested in providing homes to their dogs so they can go save more, because there was quite literally no reason for us to have been rejected. If you don't fit their EXACT standards, don't even waste your time. We are just so disappointed. 0 stars if I could.
