I have used Community in the past with excellent results and today only proved why I keep going back. I had a problem with my Malibu and called around for pricing. Community gave me a quote and set a time to look at the car. At the time, it was a week, due to high volume. While not excited about that, I understand they are busy. I took my car in last night and got a call this morning about the car. They were confused why I took the car in because I wasn't on their schedule, despite doing it a week ago, but looked at it anyways (huge thumbs up for them here). When I asked for the price, it came in $200 higher then I was told twice on the phone. I explained the entire situation to Mike and he honored the price that was quoted to me. I got the call the car was ready two hours later and pick-up was a breeze. I know some would say that there were a few problems but that is some of the best costumer service I have seen in a long time and they were quick to fix it - I will be back. Thanks Mike! read more

Took car in for oxygen sensor errors and to be checked out. They charged $160 just to check it out without doing anything ended up replacing One sensor which was the easiest to replace . Still had the errors afterwards and I was told that it would away . Had a clunk when I test drove and power steering noise was told he didn't know what the issue was with the power steering without checking it out and the clunking noise was a tie rod needed replaced but he couldn't check anything else out he was only checking out the oxygen sensor . So what was the $160 for? The tie rod ended up being a bad strut that broke going down the road if you enjoy throwing $160 away for absolutely nothing and not getting your vehicle fixed properly take it here read more

I purchased a certified used Cadillac from the dealership. They advertised the vehicle as having 9800 miles. After driving two hours I was surprised to find there was 12500 miles showing on the odometer. Surprise, the owners wife took a little joy ride... I negotiated a better price. All was signed sealed and delivered--wait, another SURPRISE! This one year old Certified Cadillac only has one key fob. I protested but was told I would have to purchase a second key. Fast forward a month--I purchased a second key and had it programmed at my home dealership. SURPRISE SURPRISE it's $400. Cadillac has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I was sold a used car that had major engine issues. I drove it for 800 miles and the engine failed. They did nothing to accommodate this horrible situation and I was out of a car and the money I paid outright for it. It was a complete nightmare. read more

Community Motors did a great job repairing my pickup after I had a head-on collision at 30 MPH. Looks like new! It took a long time due to the supply shortages, but Jason kept me informed, called me every week with updates as parts arrived and repair work progressed. The people working there are friendly and personable. Not like the workers at major car dealerships. I would use them again if I ever need auto body repair or painting. read more

Just when I wanted to change my opinion on Dealerships and car salesmen, Community confirms they are cockroaches. I agreed to a price of a car with Tom from the Waterloo store. I was fair and was only around 800 from the asking price. I said I had a trade in and he said just bring it in to be appraised. All this was on a Thursday. I said the earliest I could come in was Monday. I offered a down payment and was told it wasn't necessary. I emailed Tom on Friday to confirm our Monday meeting since I had to drive an hour to get there. Someone else emailed me back to say the car was sold. I had secured the money for the deal and requested time off to go there. Tom in management didn't have the courtesy to even tell me . I feel sorry for the people under him if he is there boss. I was lied to on numerous occasions, asked if the car had been in any accidents before, and my immediate answer was: "no", a few days after buying the car I find out this isn't true through multiple car reports, I give them a call and he then says "I didn't check the history of the car" Don't fucking answer questions you don't know the answer to. Parts of the car up front are all scratched to hell from this accident that "doesn't exist" Lied to me about the heating and air conditioning system, had to find out for myself. Lied to my face about things relating to trading in my car. I asked a ton of questions about the vehicle pre-purchase and was given answers right away. Don't make the same mistake I did. Short version: I purchased a 2019 Buick Envision Nov. 2019. Drove the car 3,000 miles and the front tires started showing steal cords. Service manager and sales said "these tires usually last 20-30 thousand miles, not sure what is going on". Service manager refused to look at the car at first, after asking a second time, he said "well if you really want us to look at it, we will". If he does not trust his own service department, I sure do not trust them either. I traded the Buick off for a Toyota since I did not want to have any ties or advertise for them. I am not suggesting anything, just look buy a vehicle from a dealer that services what they sell. My wife is still with me after 42 years, and that is all I can ask, I don't need Community Motors taking her away from me! read more

We travelled from Iowa City to look at a used vehicle after talking on the phone several times with sales rep. We had arranged a set time to test drive the car. When we arrived, the vehicle was sitting out waiting for us and we were given the keys about to drive it when the manager ran out to stop us as the the "vehicle had been sold". I took the afternoon off from work, had obtained a certified check to pay for the vehicle, and drove 75 miles (150 round trip) and ultimately wasted three hours. What we got in return: "Oh, we are sorry". No offer to even cover the cost of our gas. I am pretty sure my wife and I have never received worse service from a business in Iowa. read more

The sales team treated me promptly and respectfully, and right before I was to sign the dotted line and take the keys they handed the sale over to a guy who emerged from a back room and shrugged his shoulders, calling himself "Just the finance guy." Just the Finance Guy nearly lost the sale. While I offered up a defense, Just the Finance Guy was pushy in his attempts to get me to finance the vehicle with (ultimately inferior) loan options. He even refused to answer basic questions about these rates. The group carries fantastic cars, and the sales team (truly) were gentlemen and ladies to work with. I can't stress enough how checking this place out is a good idea. Just "buckle up" when Mr. Finance Guy arrives. read more

My mother went in to get an estimate for a truck trade in, and some hillbilly who was 90 percent beer belly named Clyde was demeaning to her the entire time, from approach to a lowball offer because he apparently thought he could take advantage of the little lady. Backseat was full of dog hair. I pointed out the cup holder was full of hair and I asked for that to be cleaned up. Dealership had the car for a full day and when I picked it up there was still dog hair in the backseat. There was now some new white powder on the backseats that wasn't there when I dropped it off. I traveled 200 miles to buy a used car advertised as "178 POINT INSPECTION COMPLETED". Because of their representation - I made the purchase paying a premium price (compared to multiple other cars I test drove). Virtually immediately upon return home I encountered 2 safety problems and a starting issue. Also a missing accessory that was part of the purchase contract has never been delivered. I fixed the problems at my cost and live with their incomplete contract. Dealership has basically ignored my complaints and contacts. The disappointment will fade - the valuable lesson learned will not. read more

I purchased a 2014 Chevy Cruze from this dealership and after getting most of the way through the sales process was told it was a GM Buyback vehicle due to the previous owner returning it. This would have been good information to divulge up front, but I was assured that the problem was fixed and had a warranty covering it. Within 3 days of owning it the car was in the shop for repairs. When contacting the dealership they seem to have a "one email per day" policy, and apart from the finance person I worked with, the rest seemed to be more interested in just assuring me that the repair is covered by a warranty than trying to resolve a customer issue. I emailed them numerous times regarding what options for recourse they had and was never offered any, so I feel other consumers should know the potential treatment they may receive after purchasing a vehicle from this dealership if they encounter any mechanical issues. read more

I have had nothing but issues with them. They told me there was no oil leak and now I have oil where it shouldn't be. Tell me my car is safe to drive and every dealership I've called said they would not. Awful representation for any company. To add more not only is your service manager awful by yelling at me. But now your general manager is telling me that it is my fault his tech is qualified to find a leak. However less than 2 weeks later a different dealer tells me they find a leak in multiple places. Now I have to play phone tag with the owner just to get something done. General Motors even admitted that this is an issue. I have since turned them into the BBB and they have yet to respond after a week. The owner doesn't care about anybody but the money. Not a great company. They have as well now lied to the BBB so I wouldn't suggest buying a thing from this company. They also I have found out screwed over several other people by replacing things that they damaged with a cheaper version of it. read more
