I was told that to put in the refill, Clyde needed a heartworm test. They also reminded me that he had an annual exam and a Lyme vaccine due. I was able to schedule all three for an appointment the next day, which I really appreciated. Thank you!

I received a response offering an exam appointment (which I expected), along with the soonest available opening, but no information about pricing -- not even the cost of the exam itself. I replied asking for both the exam fee and availability. They responded by booking an appointment date and time, again without answering my question about pricing. I had to follow up a third time explaining that I needed to know the cost before confirming, and I was finally told the exam would be $60, which seemed reasonable. Since it was actually my brother's dog, I sent him to the appointment. After the visit, he was quoted $1,600-$2,000 for treatment, which was unfortunately out of his budget. While that happens and isn't necessarily the issue, I was disappointed to find out he had been charged $80 for the exam instead of the $60 I was originally told. When I reached out via text, they explained they "forgot" to apply the new client discount -- something that had never been mentioned to me beforehand. They offered either a refund or to apply the difference toward future services. Since we had already found another clinic that could do the same services for around $1,200, I asked for the $20 refund back to the card. After that, I never heard back. No confirmation of the refund, no apology for the overcharge, nothing. I understand veterinary care is expensive, and it's not their fault my brother is a broke college student. But basic customer service and communication go a long way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be returning or recommending this office.

We've brought our lab / golden retriever in for dental cleanings and checkups, and Dr. Shani is always thorough, gentle, and great at communicating back in a timely manner. She takes the time to answer our questions and never makes us feel rushed. Willow Glen Pet Hospital's whole team makes dental care feel low-stress for both pets and owners, easy scheduling (Angel at the front desk), clear pricing, and genuine care from check-in to pickup. If you're in San Jose and looking for a vet who's great with pet dental cleanings, exams, and general wellness care, we highly recommend their whole team. Dr. Cyntha Williford is also a very kind vet that we met!

The total came out to be $353 for the kennel cough vaccine, heartworm tests, the flea/tick/heartworm pill, and a general checkup. Finding a good vet that is at a privately owned hospital has been a challenge and after reading their website and hearing good things from a couple of colleagues, I drove over an hour each way for appointments with each of my dogs. I saw Dr. Cauvel and was very impressed with his knowledge, he recognized it was better for me to handle my super excitable malinois vs have her go into the back for her vaccination, and most importantly, when I presented him with a more complex issue on one of my dogs and I presented my thoughts, he didn't treat me like my background was somehow a threat like I have experienced before. He went out of his way to review some information and photos I emailed after the appointment and we decided on what to try. I was really thrilled with my experience with this vet at this practice with both of my dogs, and despite the drive will definitely be coming back for future needs.
