It pains me to write this negative review because my family and relatives had taken several pets here for many years. Within the past couple years, we have all gotten too fed up and switched vet clinics. The wait times have gotten ridiculous and every single visit was at least a 30 to 40 minute wait when coming for our appointments. Additionally, after switching over to other vet clinics, we found that this clinic charges a lot more for the same services! Sigh. We used to really love this place but it has just gotten too frustrating and wasteful to keep coming here. read more

I been going to this Vet clinics with all my 3 dogs for many years. I am so angry when I came in today and brought my daughter's 2 cats "just for a nail trim". I was quoted on the phone call appointment it was less that $20 (17$) I got to the counter to pay the receptionist was NOT very accommodating at all. She quoted me $52!!!!! $26 per cat. She told, I can either tell them to stop but yeah that's our price". She had no empathy or concern it's either get it done or go elsewhere attitude. I am angry and disappointed how they can just "tell you a different cost" there is no LISTS on how much certain procedures are. Even having a cat spade cost (I was quoted 2 different prices). I hate the girls that gave me 2 different costs from the phone and in person!! I'm angry. The girls just gossip as the one took the payment didn't care!!! read more

In 2025 when I began my journey with Parktown I was so happy. The first doctor I saw was not so wonderful with bedside manner, but I made another appointment with a different doctor who is no longer there (sorta-conflicting story from the Office Mangager). There was a prescription misunderstanding with the doctor I saw on July 11. He was an on call doctor I was told, but he was great. Unfortunately, he wrote out the wrong prescription and rather than the Clinic making it right (I was told he would not be back for a month and now that story has changed twice from the office manager). I did not complain one bit that my 10:20 am appointment did not happen until 11: 15. After driving over 18 miles one way on 4 different days, I finally got the prescription I needed on Wednesday. Mind you it was for a rescue inhaler. The Vet who saw us said if there were any issues to call the clinic and they would help me. Friday afternoon I was told that no one could make the change until they talked to the Vet on call and she would not be in until Tuesday. I was not told before I left that if there were any issues only one Vet could help or the vet who saw her, and that they had to reach out to the on call vet for approval. The clerk said the prescription was waiting on the Vet for signature.....and that she was in surgery. So Tuesday afternoon I went to pick it up and it WAS NOT ready (3 pm-ish) I asked to speak with someone in charged and got the office manager which was a complete disaster which left me leaving in tears. Welp On Tuesday I got the call from the office at 5:42 pm (after hours) from the office staff, not the office manager as promised, saying the prescription was ready and I could pick it up Wednesday. I did call corporate after a lot of research who threw my complaint back to the clinic and this morning, the office manager called me, not corporate and what started out as a civil conversation turned back in to the very same pissing match with The office manager ultimately insinuating that I am liar and putting words in to his mouth to our prior conversation and offered twice to give me my records to go elsewhere if that is what I wanted, but he personally would make sure if we do come back that our visits will be professional and comforting. I am not sure why the climate or professionalism of this clinic changed, why 2 of the 3 doctors are not there anymore full time but until they get their act together and treat and communicate transparently, I would not step foot in that clinic. P.S. The receptionists and vet techs are amazing though. read more

My dog passed and they still force me to pay for her arthritis shots that was given off label for the collapse trachea. Her condition was not well and we wanted to try anything. Their logic is that if I paid the shots individually they would not more than the set. No refund for the 2 remaining shots that we did not get. I ask for compassion especially but they just want business. And I did ask them if I can get a refund if the worst came and they said yes. But since nothing was written they said anything. read more

The front of house staff is very friendly and gets you checked in via survey pretty quickly. Their prices are by no means cheap but that would be the case almost everywhere you go. They use petdesk so at least you earn points and discounts as you spend. I feel that my pet is attended to with much more detail than other places I've been to that are understaffed. The vets are very friendly, they ask if you have any additional questions and call backs that make you feel at ease. With having an online presence for appointment scheduling, checkin, receipt, in addition to care, I rate this high although good appointment times can be 4-5 days out. read more

We were hoping to get Dr. Amy to see our westie (who has been examined by her for several years prior). She had experience and even owned a westie herself. But to our disappointment, we had another vet (who we were open minded to at first). But upon examination, the vet was dismissive, inexperienced and condescending. She kept asking questions that were already given in great detail upon check-in with the vet tech. There seems to be no communication or reviewing of records before she entered the room. We had one primary chief complaint and it was not addressed until pressing further. Instead she stated obvious facts about our dog that we already knew (ex: him being skinnier than before due to history of pancreatitis, him having obvious benign growths that have been present for years as he is 14 y/o). She even suggested us to put him under for dental work which is highly contraindicated for our senior dog who might not survive such procedure for a minimal & common issue. And in the end she admitted she is not capable of solving or offering insight to our issue. We were billed $75 for a waste of time and just for someone to tell us what we already know and can see. read more

We mostly see Dr. Goulart here and have been going for over 10 years. Our dog has had good care under her watch. A little over a year ago, I took my dog in for a yearly checkup and I thought, let's ask to express his anal glands because I never attempted to do that myself. One anal gland was hard to express so Dr. Goulart asked me to come back in a few weeks to see if maybe it was just clogged and they could try again. She wasn't able to the 2nd time around and suggested we probably get it removed to biopsy. She got the specialist to remove both. Turns out he had anal gland adenocarcinoma and we caught it early enough that it hasn't spread to the lymph nodes. We recently had to say bye to our dog because of a brain tumor that developed and the parktown team and Dr. Goulart again was very gracious and helpful during this difficult time. By getting the anal gland adenocarcinoma removed quickly, we probably got an additional year plus with our dog. The vet clinic does it crowded and there are times where you do wait long. You may need to keep that in mind when you schedule an appointment so you don't need to rush out. read more

I've been coming here with my pup Bruce since I brought him home 7 years ago. Super awesome staff all the way around, they remember you, they remember your pets, they are super professional and knowledgeable and you don't feel like they're trying to upcharge you. Yes there's wait times, but there's also a global pandemic happening. I think people need to check their entitlement a bit and set expectations accordingly. Sometimes your wait time is a bit longer because there's an emergency that has bumped your puppy's annual exam down the priority queue. Be more understanding. Who knows, maybe your pet will be next with an emergency and you'll be super grateful when Dr. Long finds time to take a look at something you're freaking out about. This vet's management and services is HORRIBLE. Do NOT bring your pets here. I took my cat in last week and I ordered/paid for urine test and radiology report for my cat to find out what cause her to be ill.  My cat was there since 10am till 6pm. Unfortunately my cat passed away the next day so I made a courtesy call to tell them to cancel the other appointment i scheduled for her to go in to get fluid.   Without checking with me, they called the lab and cancelled the Urine sample test and radiology report and didn't inform me later either. I want to understand what caused me cat's illness. A week later I called in to ask how come I have not receive my cats test results, which I know the cultured urine test usually takes a bit longer.  They finally responded that without telling me, they already cancelled all the testings. Now my cats condition became a mystery. This is very irresponsible and disrespectful. Further more, didn't seem like they planned on returning me the refund either until but I called.  Although my main point is about i want to understand what happened to my cat, but it's also shady that would cancel the testing on their own and think it's okay to not to give refund.  I wonder if they think they can make money from this. This is not the right way to treat lives, patients, and customers.  This shows that they don't care about your pet. I also paid extra to expedited the blood report so I can know what happened to my cat right away and know what to do next. The clinic also suggested me to take her to bigger emergency hospital like Sage as I was told that based on what they have in the clinic they were not able to do more for my cat. The clinic did not send me the report back which could result in doing blood test again at emergency hospital on the same day with just few hours apart because they forgot to send it to me.  Although luckily there was someone to answer my call after hour, she also said that she cannot promise they will be able to send me the result right away as the clinic is closed. This is not the first time that they forgot to send me report back/ or sent me the wrong report. Their management needs a lot of work. They don't respect life and don't respect customer. After twenty plus years of bringing multiple pets to Parktown, we have decided that it may now be time to find a new veterinarian. Since our trusted and valued vet, Dr. Amy, has left its a fight every time we call in. It takes weeks to get an appointment, you sit in the lobby at a minimum of 10-15 minutes past your appointment time, and they currently have a revolving group of doctors. There are a group of employees that sit behind the counter talking and laughing while you wait endlessly for your appointment. The whole place seems more run down and rather dirty. At our last appointment our dog walked next to the cabinet in the exam room and came away with a large bunch of fur stuck to his face. Gone are the days when we felt confident that a phone call to Parktown would leave us feeling knowing our pets were in the care of people that put pets over dollars. read more

Parktown Vet was great to my pup Kona this week. We got there for our appt. and was well notified by the signs to park and call to check in, due to covid restrictions. When I called, the person at the front went over all the Info since it was our first visit there. When it was our time someone came out and got our pup to walk in. The vet then called me to go over his wellness check and to discuss any concerns I had. We got some shots out of the way as well. The staff (Elizabeth and team) were extremely friendly and helpful thru the process. You can tell they are true pet lovers and make you and your pet feel warm and fuzzy about the visit. My stupid little pooch got a 3inch twig stuck in her tiny little mouth! I called Parktown and they immediately took us in. I had not visited Parktown before, but explained the situation. They took her to the back for a quick assessment while I dealt with the emergency paperwork. The vet came out fairly quickly afterward and assured me that she will be juuuuussstttt fine. In fact, twigs stuck in dog's mouth is a common thing, so don't worry about it. But they will have to partially sedate her to get the twig out. All this took less than 30 mins, including waking her up to make sure she's ok. Thanks Parktown Vet! read more

I've been taking my parents dogs here for years and one thing is very consistent with this vet: Being put on hold for a very long time, oftentimes feeling like they've forgotten that you were on hold. When you do get a hold of someone and try to schedule an appointment it's usually weeks out which really sucks when you are worried about your pet and would like someone to see them soon. Why was I going here for so long given this experience? Convenience of location. They were the vet closest to my parents which made it easy for them to take their pet to, however, I've given up on this vet and am switching. I don't live with my parents so I use a different vet for my own dogs and every time I call, I can get a hold of my vet and schedule an appointment within the same day or two. With Parktown, from my many experiences, it's a norm to expect not to be able to get an appointment within the same week you call them. They take care of your pet, no problems there, it's just very troublesome to get an appointment with them in a timely manner. I wish I could keep using them but I will be switching to a vet that's not much further down the road who I called and was able to take my parents dog in the same day. read more

After being up since 5am with my dog Blue shaking his head every minute,crying, and scratching his ears till they bled, I called all the vets around my new home in Fremont HOPING someone would take my boy in.. no where could accommodate so I decided to try elsewhere and drive further. I was recommended ParkTown Vet from my old boss And decided to give them a call. Not only did they take him in on a short notice, and as a new patient... they went over pricing before hand and did not try to add any extra charges that were unnecessary (which is common to have a huge bill in the end from most vets these days) From the front staff to the doctor and the techs everyone was so nice!!!! I personally worked at a vet clinic for 3 years, and their prices were fair and not too pricey at all... seeing how I was an emergency appointment I honestly expected to take a huge hit. The doctor listened, was not pushy, and did not make me feel like they were out for my money. Everyone knows how that feels. I am really happy that my dog, Everest, and I found Parktown Veterinary Clinic. Everest is 3.5 years old and we have had several negative experiences at other veterinarians in the area. I brought my dog here for his allergies and they were able to see him within a couple days of my initial phone call. The vet explained everything, took time to talk to me about my concerns and I never felt rushed. The vet techs and office staff were so friendly. I feel as if the price for all the services we received were cheaper than other vets we have been to in the past. I have had to email them a couple times about concerns and prescription refills and they have responded quickly and never pushed away my concern. This was the first clinic I have taken my precious pomeranian, Princess. The staff are very attentive to my needs as soon as I walked in. Love the ambience. There is something about the place that is very homey and welcoming. I purchased the $390 ($600 value) puppy package when I first took Princess for a check up at 8 weeks old. That package included all the exams (physical and preventative) and vaccines Princess will be needing for the first year. It also included a microchipping service and nail cutting services per visit. Some may say it's pricey, but it made me feel better to get it and know that i'll have everything I need with just one cost esp since I'm a new pup mom. There was no pressure at all to avail the package. Higgly recommend this place!! read more

This review is based of my last interaction with Dr Nakagawa. I have been a client at parktown for the last 12 years. Today was my last day bringing my pet to this clinic. I brought my pet in for a flea exam and had some other concerns that I wanted Dr Goulart to examine. After Dr Goulart conducted the examination I walked away with a $680 bill for xrays, consultation's and eye examination, medications. Fast forward 3 days after my visit I notice the eye ointment that I used on my pet caused some sort of irritation in his left eye so I called back in to ask if it had something to do with the meds that were given. I was immediately given a drop off appointment for the next day to see Dr Nakagawa. This is where my experience was soured and severed with this clinic. I received a phone call from Dr Nakagawa saying didn't notice anything that I had mentioned with my pets eye she said it could be due to the adrenaline he was experience from being at the vet. She also suggested that I needed an additional eye test one that I already paid for from my last visit 3 days prior. I asked if there was a way that the charge for the test be comped since his eye was not this way prior to me applying the meds prescribed. The Dr then goes on this tangent about how she will be unable to pay her employees by me asking for a free test which was $33. She failed to display any empathy or care towards my pet. Her communication style comes off rude and condescending. She lacked professionalism, empathy, and most of all compassion. I picked up my pet was charged and additional $52 and that will be the last time I will be a client at parktown. If you want to continue service with Parktown I suggest requesting Dr Thur or Dr Amy Goulart. read more

I love Parktown Veterinary Clinic. Although many of the circumstances revolving around my visits here aren't the most ideal, they always prioritize my cats' wellness. I've been to vet clinics with friends where they had been overcharged or felt more 'for profit' than for care. You can tell the difference immediate at those places by their simple interactions with the animal - they got my friend's cat's name wrong everytime and she tried nicely correcting them? No change in demeanor. Here at Parktown Vet, you'll have exceptional care, and no none sense when it comes to care for your pet. They remember each patient (which is a major task) and do a great job at following up. To have a vet remember not only my cat's name but our previous concerns is so touching. I always feel like I'm getting the best care for my pets here, and there never feels like an ulterior motive - just pet lovers helping our family live out their healthiest life. The staff makes me feel like my cats are cared for as if they were their own, and they always have great recommendations for lifestyle and habit changes revolving around my cats age and point of life. The integrity of this place is unmatched and deeply appreciated, I can't thank you guys enough for the peace you've provided during worrisome situations my cats had gotten themselves into. I credit a lot of my oldest cat's (18 years old) health to the care and recommendations you guys have provided us. Coming here is never a chore because finding someone who loves your pet is priceless when it comes to care. I brought my cat into Parktown because he wasn't eating. Dr. Amy did a full exam and discussed with me different treatment options. They did X-rays, blood work, and put him on medication so that he would be comfortable and eating again before his dental procedure. After his dental procedure he was back to being himself. Parktown Vet office technician demonstrated for us how to change my dog's dressing after a surgery of cost nearly $2,200 dollars. She tried hard and struggled to get the ointment out of the tube in front of me. We took home the same tube of antibiotic ointment. I experienced the same difficulty getting the ointment out from the tube. My husband called your office to explain that we felt the tube was old and defective. And to inform them that the tube burst on the side. He requested a replacement. My husband was told on the phone by your office to bring in the tube and someone would look at it. He responded that the tube was defective and he expected a replacement. He might have raised his voice, and he is regretful about that, but he was surprised that the reaction was so UNaccommodating and questioned his authenticity. When I brought in the defective tube, your office manager Michelle accused me of mishandling of the tube that caused the seam to be broken and told us that we should have called in the office and be taught how to get the ointment out of the tube. Michelle said we shall just simply take the top off and squeeze for the ointment. This is what I did and still the defective tube did not deliver the antibiotic. The problem is even if we remove the whole top, we still have trouble getting ointment out of the tube no matter how hard we squeeze. It is also very hard to get the ointment out of the broken seam. We were accused of being rude when we simply were telling the truth and the fact is whatever the antibiotic ointment we were given is not working. I was talked down to and treated as a stupid person that doesn't know how to use a tube of medicine. And now you send us an insulting letter. It is shocking how you treat your customers. We had just spent thousands of dollars with you. We did not expect an argument over a tube of antibiotic. We also noticed the office manager decided to sell us a completely different brand of antibiotic cream. We are reasonable people with a very sick animal who we love. We don't deserve to be talked down to as if we are stupid and do not know how to use the tube. We expected to be believed when we told your staff the antibiotic tube was defective. Do you really require people to prove these things to you? There is a problem here. Maybe you are proud of your staff standing up for themselves in these meaningless conflicts. I had been taking my rescue to this clinic since I got her when she was 10 weeks old. My first impression wasn't great, but I kept giving them them a chance hoping that my experience would match up with their reputation. It has been 5 years overdue, but I finally asked for my girl's medical records and have switched vets. Long story short, they're expensive, they often seem clueless, and their wait times for appointments are now astronomical. In my opinion, not worth the price tag. If you have a healthy dog that never gets sick and just needs a vet for routine stuff like dental and vaccinations...and you have a lot of disposable income, this place will do just fine. If you have a complicated pup like mine...look elsewhere. I'll summarize a few of my experiences. First puppy exam-very brief, no instructions or timeline given on what I needed to do as a first time dog owner. Vaccine schedule? Checkup schedule? Nada. I had to google everything. Turns out they have a new puppy package where they provide all this information that they didn't bother informing me about. Also, they did not ask for a stool sample (spoiler: my pup had worms) A few days later I found wiggling segments of worm in her poop. Snapped a photo, collected the specimen and dropped it off at the vet for a $50 stool test. I thought it'd be simple enough. Got a call- "Good news! The stool test came back normal". What? Did you guys look at the poop? They admitted they didn't look at the poop before sending it away to the lab, but explained the segments as potentially residual worm segments that may come out after a pup is dewormed prior to adoption. I showed my vet tech friend the pic of the poop I took and she told me they were 100% tapeworms, and that it does not show up on stool tests. They require a simple visual diagnosis. So I called Parktown back and relayed what my friend said, and they asked me to send the pic to the doc. They diagnosed her with tapeworms and gave us a deworming pill. Great...thanks? A few weeks later my dog had bloody pee. After two courses of antibiotics and two urine cultures and one uranalysis, the vets admitted to me that they were stumped. Did they refer me out to a specialist? Nope, they wanted to charge me over $1K for further exploratory tests. My gut told me to ask my vet tech friend again and...she said at this point I needed a specialist. THERE ARE SPECIALISTS?! Great-took her to SAGE and the specialist there immediately knew what the issue was. Ran a few tests to confirm and it all came out to just over $300. Why didn't Parktown just refer me over there instead of wanting to spend potentially thousands of dollars? At this point I had lost a lot of confidence in this clinic. A few months later my dog started experiencing symptoms which we later discovered to be a very rare autoimmune disease. This was the one time I think Parktown took the best course of action. Vets again were stumped, and suggested that I go back to SAGE through their ER department at 6am when the specialists make their rounds to get a quick neuro consult. They told me it would take too long if I called for a neuro appointment as this was an urgent case. It worked and my dog was seen by neuro. They ruled out anything neurological, but another ER vet noticed swelling in her joints and ran a joint tap which led to her diagnosis. Side note-I overheard the neurologist complaining in the back that they hated when primary vets did this...LOL. Over the years, I was very content getting most of my dog's healthcare from SAGE, and only really going to Parktown once a year for routine things like physicals and dental. Fast forward to COVID times, frustratingly yet understandably, we can only schedule appointments that are about 1 month out. At her last physical I asked the vet for advice on how to better manage her weight because she's a special case who HATES walks and loves to eat. I explained all the things I already did diet-wise (50% estimated kcal for a dog her size and very little snackos/treats). Her advice? To watch what she eats. No suggestion to see a nutrition specialist or perhaps give suggestions for different foods to try. Gee...thanks? She told me her teeth looked great visually and she doesn't anticipate her needing any extractions in her dental cleaning. They then proceed to quote me an ungodly amount for a routine cleaning. Literally $400 more than pre-COVID. Nope. No thanks. No more. We are DONE. I think it's safe to say that I gave them a fair chance. I really did try. We had to take our furry son Bijou in to be euthanized yesterday. He was 15 years old, was having seizures and difficulty walking.The vet and staff were so sympathetic and kind during the process that it made our grief easier to take. Once the painless process began, a member of the staff petted and comforted our little boy until the vet told us it was over. I took my precious golden Beckham to Parktown Veterinary Clinic, after a friend recommended it. My poor pup got ill after a beach day. I'm assuming it was something he had ate and grew concern after multiple day of diarrhea. Let me tell you, this is the place to take your little fur baby. Overall great experience!
