I have taken two of my dogs to Community Pet Hospital on three separate occasions for treatment and each time the care provided was outstanding. From the registration clerk to the vet tech to the DVM, everyone has been consistently amazing during each visit. Unfortunately, our last trip to CPH brought devastating news for our family - our beloved six year old Catahoula mix Jackson has a mast cell tumor that was concerning for metastasis to his spleen. We saw Dr. Griffin and she was caring, kind and absolutely wonderful with our boy. She communicated her concerns to us after his initial exam and educated us about what tests she would like to perform and why. Once Dr. Griffin made the diagnosis, she shared the news with us in a genuinely compassionate and empathetic manner. She was honest, but kind about her concerns that because his spleen was enlarged on X-ray the cancer may have traveled there too. She suggested that the best way to have Jackson seen by oncology as quickly as possible to determine the scale of his disease would be to go to another emergency vet hospital that evening. CPH does not have any oncologist vets on staff, so Dr. Griffin gave us the name of another local ER that does. She told us that if we took Jackson to this other emergency vet that they would likely admit him to their hospital for the night and have him seen by their oncology department first thing in the morning. She sent us with slides from his fine needle aspiration, as well as copies of the X-rays and lab work. Dr. Griffin took her time with us and Jackson and answered all of our questions clearly and completely. She then called us several days later to ask how Jackson was doing, how we were doing and offered the opportunity to ask any questions we might have. The tech whose name I have shamefully forgotten was also wonderful with my beautiful baby. She was so patient and so kind to him that it helped calm and reassure me during such a terribly difficult time. If I ever have further need of emergency services for any of my pets, I won't have to think twice of where to go. read more

Unless you make a six figure income, don't bother. They will hound you for money even when you tell them you don't have it. They act like they care, but it's only if you are rich. They make a lot more than I do and they aim to keep it that way. read more

I had to send my best friend over the rainbow bridge yesterday. You all know how hard that is. She was only 12 but she had congestive heart failure. The cardiologist told me with with meds, we could get a year to a year and a half with her, well we got to love her for an additional 15 months. But then the meds stopped working and she was suffering. I called around but not only was the pricing off the charts, I would have had to wait a few days, I don't think she had a few days. Then I called Community Pet Hospital, they said we could come any time, just to give them 30 minutes to prepare! I set a time, but when it got close, I panicked, called and rescheduled.... they were kind and understanding about it.... well I calmed down a couple of hours later, so called again and rescheduled. And you know what, they said "that is fine, we understand". We got there, with my girl dog, Frankie Lynn, they took us to a room they had set up, just for us, with the plaque in the photo. There was calming music playing, soft lights and just a very calming atmosphere. They gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes (and a new box of tissues) then they came in sedated her and it was over. I felt such a feeling of peace and calmness. Far cry from the wreck I was earlier. We chose to take her remains with us so they provided a nice carrier and let us out a back door. AMAZING! Took my dog in for a WALK-IN EMERGENCY VISIT & sat there for 2 hours.. I finally said something & then went back to a room... sat some more.. when the vet finally came in, she asked what was going on.. I showed her bump on my dogs chin & without looking, touching or anything but standing there.. told me if was bad oral care & it would be $3000 to take care of!! Holy smokes...! I really liked this place for urgent care services but last October my adults kids were watching our dog and she started having seizures. They told our kids she probably just got into their weed and let her sleep it off. Seizures aren't something you sleep off. Luckily the kids knew better and went to another pet hospital. It turns out she has an insulin producing tumor and she needs extra calories and steroids is all. And a side issue I have is that a week after they put our 23 year old cat down in July (before the dog incident), they started sending me advertisements for cat adoptions. It just felt like a marketing ploy, like they knew we just lost a cat. I let them know about our experiences and they said they would get back to me, they never did. I'm putting 2 stars because the vets are nice, it's the front desk gatekeeping that bothers me. They aren't vets, so I don't think they should be deciding why a dog is seizing and sending them home without an exam. read more

Fake sympathy all over their faces even rolling their eyes as they explained my options. Their prices are criminal considering the diagnosis alone is 1000$. Also they had us wait in the car in the sun for over an hour and diagnosed my dog with dehydration. Obviously we were both going to be dehydrated after that . They charged me for that too of course. I get that the prices are what they are and all but I am just so frustrated and disappointed at the horrible lack of bedside manner. I would way prefer a stern or serious expression instead of fake and over exaggerated sympathy. It feels like a slap in the face. I am gladly moving on from this clinic for good. read more

My First Negative Review 5 star rating is for my personal experience during the year and a half at Washington Community Pet Hospital . Hands on personnel provided superb help and advice for me to care for my aging large dogs. No stars is the rating for the euthanasia provided by Washington Community Pet Hospital for both my pets. It includes the director, managers, and 2 separate administers of injections who euthanized my pets. This sadly happened 1 year after the other. The second being July 13. A residence move across Thornton included quick access to Washington Community Pet Hospital my dogs and myself. 10 years of shared care at two vets on Colorado Boulevard for both my dogs, Nico and Sicily, whenever needed on whatever day then became a continued blessing at Washington Community Pet Hospital . Doctors who were handling Nico and Sicily provided advice and guidance to give them more time with me. Besides age, both had ailments I understood would eventually take them. Their quality of life unfortunately fell to the heart crushing decision to euthanize. No new thing for me, as I'm almost a senior. That doesn't mean it makes it easier. Community Hospital has a calm area for the process. While feeling extreme sadness, calming with chocolates and plenty love time gave some comfort before the coming procedure. When Nico's euthanasia began, he-started to fade. Suddenly his breathing began escalating and legs began moving. I made urgent comments as to why? The administer stated she would get more(Didn't say what). I asked her to please hurry as she left the room and left my son and I with Nico. This was so devastating and on surveillance . I contacted the office immediately the next day to speak to management. I didn't initially get a call back. After playing tag for two weeks, the office coordinated a group together to talk to me. An attempt to explain the problem away was in no way working for me. I was told I'd get my office money back, but not for the cremation fee which I understood. When the credit showed up on my next office visit, it was half of the amount I was told. Instead of putting the desk person and myself through more, I blew it off. A year later, Sicily's euthanasia went the same. Sicily relaxed, her eyes remained open, and her breathing escalated. Just as I was about to express concern, the administer said I need to get more. I exclaimed "Please hurry!". Once again, the administer had to leave the room because she didn't get enough product to put Sicily down. The only difference Sicily's from Nico's experience is Sicily's joints were blown out. She wasn't able to move her legs. Despite being told by both euthanasia techs that my dogs were ok, the situations were in no way ok but a crushing disaster. No smooth transition to sleep for either Nico or Sicily. This experience left a lifelong lasting visual for my witnesses and myself. I called the pet hospital Monday to talk about my experience. I was asked for and gave full explanation why. I was assured to get a call back from a manager. I received no return call. That Friday came and I was off work early enough to catch management before their weekend departure. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes on my first attempt. I ended the call and redialed. The same person answered and she told me management was gathering to talk to me. I waited more. I then sat through the same explaining away the problem with the management staff for a second time. I interrupted and stated I'm not the professional, but they should have weighed my dogs or have some sort of technique used to administer a correct dosage of lethal injection.(Weighing was protocol with all euthanized pets at the prior clinics I utilized. Weighing before any procedure including euthanasia was formality in my past experiences) A doctor present on the call stated it's a wide span of what dose should be administered and it is a narrowed guess as to the amount administered per dog. She also stated "that is why what happened to your dogs may occur. I stated "I'm not going to use the words that I would like, but you are all wrong and I want my money back. You do not deserve payment for a second, terrible, unprofessional service". The administrator spoke up and said she did see a difference in Sicily's vs. Nico's euthanizing which causes her to believe her doctors did nothing wrong. With that I would not be getting my money back. That absurd response prompted me to interrupt and respond to remind the group of their lack of timely response to return a urgent call twice, lack of professionalism to not weigh my dogs, and to expect a survey posting of this situation. My first negative posting. I did not want to set foot into the pet hospital again, but I needed to get Sicily's ashes. I called the crematory to pick up there. The crematory stated the remains were delivered the day prior. The staff I just had a fall out with didn't have the courtesy to tell read more

Please read the reviews prior to finding a primary vet for your animal. The doctors at this facility are incredibly knowledgeable and communicate well with treatment. However, the front desk staff are insanely rude and make you feel pretty worthless. Receptionist are the face of your business and what people see first. I haven't had a single good experience with the front desk staff via phone or in person. I tried the Holly location and same thing, terrible front desk staff. Very rude and short on the phone. I will be switching my primary vet to The Veterinary Center at Turnberry where I have had a much better experience. read more

This place misdiagnosed our dog after having her in the clinic all day in an oxygen cage, called and told us we needed to come back right away if we wanted to see our dog alive. We arrived there, and our dog was alert and excited to see us. They advised us to take her to an ER veterinarian by ambulance. I asked if the ambulance had lights and sirens, they told us yes, when actually it was just an SUV. When we arrived at the ER vet, the doctor was shocked that our dog looked and acted so good. She was nowhere near death. She passed away and Community Pet was the closest vet to us, so we went there to be treated horribly again. We stood at the door with our deceased dog in my husband's arms and the staff laughed at us saying sorry we are closed!!! Worse place EVER!!! read more

He was really scared/traumatized of the vet from past experiences at Caring Hands so I switched to Community Pet Hospital hoping for a change for his anxiety. Dr. McGreer and Elizabeth fed him treats and peanut butter the entire time for his shots. They did so well. I'll definitely come back. read more

Sunday my sister and I brought her dog in to be seen because he had a very noticeable limp and was very restless. We called ahead and since it was Sunday, they told us to come in as a walk in and that they were not that busy. We arrived 10 minutes later to check in, the front desk said there was one person ahead of us. Since it was a walk in, we expected there would be a wait but ....2 1/2 hours later!?! We were finally seen. The front desk staff never reassured us that we hadn't been forgotten about, they never even acknowledged us except to pay the bill. After 90 minutes of waiting, we asked how long it would be, we got a very blunt toned. "The doctor will see you when they are finished" answer. When we finally got placed in an exam room we waiting another 45 minutes. The doctor then examined our dog and determined it was his left shoulder. She was able to get a reaction from him when she was doing range of motion on his joints. After she found that the pain reaction, the exam was over....it seemed very brief and not thorough at all. (Especially after paying a hefty urgent exam fee UPFRONT!) We were then sent home with pain meds and an a glucosamine supplement for arthritis. Fast forward to today. Now he is walking very wobbly and seems incoherent of his surroundings. Almost like it is neurological. He has a history of seizures and is 13 which was mentioned yesterday to the doctor but no neurological examination was done. Tonight he had a very bad seizure that he is not coming out of so we called them back to get in asap and most likely make a tough decision to put to sleep. They told us he could not be seen and to go somewhere else because they had an emergency. Awful business practice for a veterinarian!!! I was a vet tech for 10 years at two different practices and we would NEVER turn away an existing client for an emergency appt and possible euthanasia. Shame shame shame on you! You have lost myself as a client, my sister, my mother, and if others read this you will lose others as well! read more

took my dog in, his glucose levels were low, body temp low, heart rate low. He had gotten into the trash. They said he needed to stay over night. Presented me with a bill for 2500. I explained I didn't have that available. They then said he was stable enough to go home and that his glucose was now stable. Served me with a bill for 805 dollars when I was quoted 480 for the blood work and xrays and to try and stabilize him. He was in their care for an hour. I'm sure the care he recieved was sufficient but they tried to gouge me on the price using his condition as an excuse. When I said I didn't have that right now, instead of discussing financing options or alternatives they immediately determined he was now fine enough to go home, but would only release him if i paid the 805 dollar bill. All of this occured during regular business hours between the time of 3pm and 4pm. Broken communication in regards to the care/cost being given. Price gouged on all services recieved, and treatment plans determined by cost versus whats in the actual best interest of your pet/family member. If your pet is sick, or in need of urgent care. Take them in immediately. I would suggest you take them somewhere else. read more

Do NOT take your pets to community pet hospital!! THEY CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL BECAUSE I COULDN'T AFFORD THEM!!! My 9 week old puppy got stuck in the chain link fence and pulled himself free fracturing his jaw. They're the closest 24 hour emergency veterinarian so I had no choice but to rush my puppy there. They only care about money. They flat out told me to put him down if I couldn't afford the $2000 - $4000. I couldn't imagine euthanasia for a fractured jaw.. so I went back and forth with the Dr on pricing to give this baby the best shot I could with the budget I have. We got him x-rays, stitched, bandaged, and his meds for about $1100. I was told to bring him back for a 24 hour checkup to make sure he was doing okay. At this checkup the next day they wanted almost $600 to change his dressing!! I told them no, as long as the tape muzzle is okay and he wasn't going to hurt himself, I couldn't afford to do that. She said yes it's good and they gave us more meds (which we paid for). She said she wanted to see him back in 3 days. Well she clearly didn't mean that because animal control told me she said he needed to be seen by tomorrow evening. I will be taking him to a different veterinarian today read more

I took my pup here after he had a bad reaction to getting neutered. It was just before 3 pm on a Sunday. I took him inside, bleeding everywhere and they said their doctor leaves at 3 and couldn't see us. I went to Northside on 124 and Huron and it was a long wait but they fixed my pup up and will go back to Northside from now on. read more

ALL about the MONEY here! They have super high turn over of doctors, I've never talked to the same doc more the twice. When you call for an appointment because you have a sick or odd acting pet, they don't have daytime appointments for two weeks. I guess they expect your pet to get sick in a scheduled basis. But they always always have availability at 5:00pm or later which just happens to be "after hours". So sure come in after hours and pay the after hours price. They are more than happy to accommodate taking your money. Then they like to recommend a follow up appointment and charge for more 'tests' that don't seem to tell them anything. After dealing with this for 4 years, I found my way to a different vet clinic nearby. I been thrilled with their staff and service. And they seem to have a heart at the other clinic, not just a giant piggy bank. read more

Horrible place to take a sick animal. Our puppy had megasophagus, he suddenly fell very ill. He was throwing up blood all day. I took him in because I knew he wasn't gonna make it. He threw up blood all over the exam room in front of the Dr They wanted to do blood work and xrays. I didn't feel that would change anything. He needed to be put down. Since I didn't want to pay $600 for tests, they sent us home. Within an hour and a half of being home, he passed away in my daughter's lap. It was so hard on my girls. The vet should have known better. What a sad thing. How many others has this happened to? ALL THEY WANT IS MORE MONEY, what if he would have passed while on the exam table while getting xrays? We unfortunately came home to out fur baby in her kennel passed away. We brought her here as we have been coming here for years and got her privately cremated. We asked for her paw print and they stated that we would get one. Left us a message that our girl was ready for pick up as well as her paw print. This is the second time I have been to this facility, and the way they issue you your billing is ridiculous. They give you an estimate with a low price and high price. Why? Exactly why would that be when we are right in the facility that is doing the services? We own a plumbing and heating company and if we gave estimates this way we would be out of business in about five minutes. They gave me the low figure of 298. And the high price of 346., 15 minutes later the bill was 395! When I question the pricing, they offered to reduce the bill but to take back all of the medications that they had just given me. It was a rough day, as they told me that my dog had a tumor, I was already upset but then to have them try to pull a fast one on a grieving person is outlandish. I've seen other reviews on the web that mentioned the same problem, this low estimate high estimate shenanigans. If you are going to use this pet hospital, make sure you are very clear by getting them to commit to the exact price that you were going to pay in advance or be prepared for a surprise. In addition, even though I came in the middle of the day during regular business hours they charged me the emergency visit fee of an additional $86. read more

They told me to come in. So I brought my puppy in and expressed my feelings about Parvo, so a technician came out to see me. She quickly relieved me of any problems, but got a second opinion from the doctor about the urination. This place is very attentive and the people there care about these animals and are passionate about what they do. There is only one person that made it very uncomfortable and was unprofessional for me and my family when we had to put one of our fur baby down. Elizabeth Bruce is one of the vets there and she has a very unpleasant way of expressing herself. When I was there I could hear her make a comment to one of the other workers about how one of ladies where helping us and she needed help. But the way she said it was rude and unprofessional and this is me explaining this in a very kind way. She didn't respect us mourning for our baby. This place would have been amazing but just one person is the bad apple on the tree. read more

Honestly I have used Community pet for years, tonight one of my little dogs that I adore picked a fight with one of my big foster dogs...well into the vet we went. Dr. Walter and the whole team worked to not only save him but to love and care for me. I love these people. DO NOT take your pet to this clinic! They are so busy that they have little to no time to evaluate your pet, formulate a plan, and guide you during a crisis. The only thing they are good at is collecting ridiculous amounts of money! They misdiagnosed our puppy and had her on pain meds that were exacerbating the underlying issue! After spending more than a thousand dollars with them, they referred us to a neurologist! This led to thousands and thousands of additional dollars for them to misdiagnosis our Lulu and send us home with no solid answers! They treat their patients as if they are simply a number and did absolutely NOTHING to help us in our time of need! Trust me! It started out a couple weeks ago when I took my dog to go get her mouth checked because something was wrong they charged us $175 for the emergency visit and then they asked us to put $150 down deposit for a dental exam. I must mention they DID NOT give us the prices otherwise we would have saved. We then paid $450 for the dog to get one shot and a check up. I brought our other dog in for her dental appointment today and they proceeded to tell me that it was gonna be almost $2000 I told him I had 1200 they refuse to see my dog and they refused to give me a letter stating that they refuse to see my animal for $800 because the manager doesn't come in til 9!! They have had an overabundance of emergency situations during COVID making your initial appointment may be a challenge, however hang in there and keep trying, it is worth the wait!! They have are all over the place, one doctor at the Riverdale location diagnosed my dog after about two seconds with and said he had a torn acl and needed a $5-8k surgery. Their xray was broken, which they didn't bother to tell me when they knew i was bringing my dog for a leg injury. Second location doctor that did xray said he didn't have a torn acl just rest. After xray he was much worse and couldn't walk on leg at all. Third visit and i am over $400 in, doctor said surgery, quoted $2300-3000. Called back to ask about 2nd xray charge and surgery went to $5. This is not the first issue, i spent hundreds before only to find another remedy for stomach issues elsewhere and after a couple of weeks of there meds totally making sicker. Be warned! read more

Euthanasia service sensitive and caring. We had to put our old friend down and we are sure glad we picked this place. Very compassionate service, genuine concern from all staff during the procedure, then a beautiful hand written condolence card the next day that was personal and sincere. Days later upon picking up the remains we received a beautiful paw print and silver box with the ashes. It's never easy to do this, but Dr Teresa and staff were very genuinely compassionate without being false or fake. read more
