It's a small restaurant near Raleys. It gets pretty busy, with limited staff. We sat ourselves. We were greeted and were given a menu and given chips and salsa. We were ready to order, but noticed that we had waited quite some time since we finished the chips and salsa by the time she came to getour order. She did offer to give us a more chips and salsa while the food was put in. When the food came, my husband said that his chile verde was cold, whereas my steak ranchera was hot. I enjoyed my food. Very authentic. Even the chips and salsa are good. Make sure you ask for the hotter salsa as well. It has really great flavor. Overall, service was a bit slow, even though she was nice and attentive. The service is good and server pleasant. I ordered the simple bean and cheese burritos. The beans had no salt therefore it was bland and no flavor. Infact, the beans tasted strange even after I added some salt. I had others try it and they agreed. If a mexican restaurant can't get the beans right, I can't believe anything else tastes good. Beans are the staple food of Mexicans and they should be on point with taste. I probably won't go back because I don't like to waste money. read more

Compadres is a great new addition to Galt! Service was up to par, didn't need to flag any employees down as they came by often to see if our table was okay and waters needed to be filled. Friendly staff and very helpful at that. Food are a reasonably and fair price for Mexican, generous portions too! Restaurant was clean and spaced apart for covid safety, Compadres has a full bar and the bar area has TVs for entertainment/games. Food was delicious, we got the quesadilla, ham sandwich, birria tacos, rice, and beans. There was also complimentary chips with yummy salsa. The beans were different than I normally have had them at other Mexican restaurants (made with white beans I presume). The birria tacos were my favorite and the consume that came with it was flavorful. I literally kept drinking it as if it were a cup of soup. Quesadilla was very big and good as well. Went in for dinner Friday at 5:30. We sat there for over 20 minutes and nobody ever came over to give menus or even acknowledge we were there. We finally left when it was clear the server knew we were there but never came over. We've been there many times for lunch and the service has always been ok. There were two servers working. The server on our side of the restaurant looked at us when we sat down from across the room. She had 4 other tables that were 2-4 people. Every table had food except for one who had menus and drinks. The server went to every other table while we waited bringing drinks, checks, and taking the order of the table that had the menus. She looked at us a second time but never came over. She stopped at several tables just to chat while we were waiting. I was a server for many years and I have a lot of patience when servers are busy, and appreciate what they do, but this was beyond ridiculous. We won't be back. read more

We did meet the owner, he came to our table and we asked about the beans and he said they were not pintos and that's why they looked different. This place is horrible. I was determined to try all the Mexican joints in Galt so I stopped by this place Yesterday. The menu prices that are listed in the pictures or are by a few dollars but since I was there and hungry I stayed and ordered my food to go. Mind you I live 5 minutes away but by the time not only was my enchiladas Luke warm at best, but there was barely any filling inside. The sides of rice and beans look to be 3oz or less each and the enchiladas were roughly 1 inch by 5 inches. I wish I had the foresight to take a picture. I almost never give a 1 star review but J can't think of anything good about my experience other than I did t get food poisoning. Worst part was that after I got the platter I had a flash back to about 4 months when I first got to Galt and tried this place and I had an identical experience. I think that since this place is 50% bar action maybe they can get away with bad food. Also even though it was to go I couldn't even get a cup of water from the server who then brought me a print out with an Option for a tip. Unless this place makes some changes I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Compadres has the most amazing food! Everything I had ordered has been delicious. This is my favorite restaurant in Galt! The service is friendly and has that small town feel. The restaurant is good looking and clean. I love that when you sit they bring their complementary chips and salsa. And offer refills! Seriously so delicious and wholesome. Lousy service! Arrived at 3:24 pm, waited at least 15 minutes before we were served water and chips. After our order was taken it took another 40 minutes to be served. During this time one man poked his head in the kitchen and said I'm leaving--I've been waiting 30 minutes and no one has even served me water, shortly after he left another man and his son walked out. I told my husband if we don't get served in 5, we're going to walk out as well. The two waitresses were in the kitchen the whole time-- maybe they were cooking??? Who knows!!! There were a total of 13 customers at the time this included my husband and I and the two gentlemen that walked out. We really wanted to like the new spot. Great menu and so much potential. Nice staff and very courteous, however the food is bland and not very appealing to the eye. We ordered breakfast which consisted of a breakfast burrito and an omelette and the omelette was dry and nothing more than just scrambled eggs on top of what should be inside and omelette. We thought perhaps it was just breakfast but unfortunately for the dinner menu the taquitos and Berea tacos were subpar and again without flavor or spices that would set a restaurant like this aside from others in the area. I really debated on writing I review until we had or second meal there and unfortunately I don't take Joy riding this out but after ordering $25 of food I came home and made an my own omelette because the one we purchased was an edible.
