What a lovely restaurant in an historic building at the edge of the small commercial downtown of Galt. Except for chain and fast food places off of Highway 99 there aren't a lot of worthwhile options for lunch. It's worth the short several blocks drive down A Street to get there. The place is large, full of character and clean. The restroom was updated and spotless. There's a nice outdoor patio with plenty of seating in a courtyard atmosphere. We chose a booth, indoors, and menus were brought right away, along with water. There are plenty of selections for lunch, including the usual burgers and sandwiches with some specialty items, for example Cajun Pasta. We shared a Bavarian pretzel for an appetizer with mustard dip. It was good but a bit on the greasy side. The mustard went well with it. For my lunch I ordered the Blackened Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries ($2 extra). The portions are huge! Definitely a good value for the quality of the sandwich, which had big chunks of chicken, bacon, avacado, lettuce, tomato, cheese and a tangy aioli sauce. Quite delicious. Everything was fresh and tasty. I was very pleased, and full. Washing it down with an iced tea was perfect. Service was very personable and professional. We were well taken care of with iced tea refills and offers of extra ketchup, etc. When in the area or on a road trip throuth these parts I'd definitely be back. read more

Stopped in for the first time, coming through from Nevada On Mother's Day. Called ahead for reservation at 1130am. Was promptly seated and then ignored for 39 minutes, and the establishment was not busy. Waiter came to take our order, delivered beverages, then proceeded to interact with the ladies across the way the remainder of our visit. No service utensils, no refills. After an additional 40 minutes, I went to the bar myself to get refills. Food finally came and it was delicious. However, it was apparent our table was not "assigned" to anyone. The menu is transactional at the moment, but they definitely will have a smaller menu than they used to have but that probably is a good thing because the food quality was better than it was before. My wife had a vegetarian pasta, dinner, and I had steak with mushrooms. The service was very good for a Friday night, but they did not have many customers. We enjoyed the visit and the food and service were good so they deserve a four out of five . Well. We were really hoping with the new owners this would be better. Service was great and staff were nice. We each had a beer and 3 appetizers to share. So disappointing. We had the chicken wraps, they were tasty. Ok, not particularly special. The duck fat tater tots....mushy and no flavor. Calamari was way over cooked and rubbery. We were hungry and ate it all but it wasn't very good. Really was hoping for better. We will give it another go and order entrees to try and hope for the best. Tried this for the first time today, showed up about 50 min after open and there was only one other table on a Sunday, which surprised me for how good it was. Tables trickled in after we sat. I made reservations for a few friends to get together to celebrate a birthday. We were greeted and sat briefly. As you walk in, you can see through the floor to the wine cellar which was cool. You also pass a full bar with seating to the left. We ordered appetizers which were brought promptly. The calamari was ok, a bit too crunchy. The salad was fresh with a nice serving of ranch to go with it. I ordered the prime rib and was offered mashed potatoes or double vegetables. Me thinking they would be the classic vegetables, broccoli and carrots, I ordered double veggies. It was actually asparagus and it looked like the same serving as the other plates. No big deal but I wish I had known what the veggies actually were before I ordered. My steak was flavorful with the provided gravy. I was told the salmon was bland and needed some flavor. The lavender lemon drop was good. The monkey mule was refreshingly really good! I recommend those. Overall, the service was great. The server was prompt and would check in on us often. I've been here 3 times. The first time I had the salmon salad for lunch it was good enough. Nothing special but good. I came back for dinner with company and got the steak which I asked for medium rare. It was severed bloody - I mean nearly raw. My final time I came back and got a different steak medium this time in hopes it wouldn't be raw and still was served to me very very rare and hardly any seasoning with undercooked onion and mushroom. I have to say I was surprised at my dinner experience. We decided to take my dad out to dinner on Christmas Eve and walked into an empty restaurant, which was a little bit alarming. I made the assumption that everybody was home, eating with their families on Christmas Eve. Well, that was not the case. As soon as we ordered, our meal, families started coming in and the restaurant was getting busy. I ordered the apricot chicken which was so delicious. My husband ordered the prime rib and should have ordered it medium as it seemed a little overly rare. My dad had the fish and chips. I wish I would've taken a moment to order dessert but by the time we were finished with our meal we were stuffed. I was staying in Galt with my crew; primarily to save on hotel cost. Well, I blew my budget after finding Brewsters Bar and Grill on Yelp. I took my crew out to Brewsters for dinner. The place is incredibly cool. I didn't get a chance to learn the history of the building but it's over 100 years old. There is a glass floor in front of the bar where you can see the wine cellar in the basement, the woodwork on the bar is ornate and beautiful. Next time I'll get all the details. I had a basic roast turkey with mashed potatoes and asparagus ( been eating fast food for the last 3 days, wanted some comfort food). My guys both had the jambalaya. All the food was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. My old-fashioned (cocktail) was perfect and priced well. If your in Galt, this is a cool place to check out. read more

RE: Friday - Sunday Steak Special for Two at Brewsters Bar & Grill! My husband and I made reservations for Sunday 11/24 which happens to be our anniversary! We thought the steak special sounded good but I'm here to tell you it was the worst meal we've ever had at Brewsters! First off, your server told us the special was not available, but then he checked and found it was. Our order was taken and we were told staff was shorthanded so drinks would be a bit longer as the bartender was also serving. We asked that our meal be held so we could enjoy our drinks and we proceeded to relax to wait for the drinks. Next thing we know, the salads are being delivered ! We asked that the meat be held up because we still didn't have our drinks and we were there for a leisurely dinner, we'd like to enjoy the drinks before diving into dinner. Drinks finally came, my husband's beer, 5 minutes later my Margarita. We barely had our drinks in our hands when we were told our meals were already being prepared...salad was good. Meals came out, and I don't know where on the cow the steaks came from but they were the chewiest, gristle and fat steaks, both the NY and the Ribeye! They were cooked medium rare though! There was not a single asparagus tip on either plate, we got all the ends that were trimmed off of everyone else's asparagus. We usually love the mashed potatos but last night they were gluey and had a crust on the top. We decided to just box up the meals as neither one of us could eat what was on the plate, order dessert to go, and head home. The server brought out the dessert and told us he had put 2 slices of cake in to thank us for our patience with the drinks etc. Then he delivered the bill, which charged us the full price for 2 steaks, 2 drinks, and one dessert. We had to flag him down to correct the bill with his making excuses that he got so busy that he "forgot to do the math" to give us the discount for the steak special? Our chickens will enjoy the mashed potatos and asparagus , hopefully with some trimming we'll be able to salvage some of the meat for us to add to some other meal. I wrote this privately to management first, rather than blast it across social media to bring your attention to a really bad experience at your restaurant, a place that we have enjoyed many times before. But there was never a response from them. Please don't advertise a special if your servers don't know that it's being offered, and if a patron asks that a meal be held until drinks are served, it should be honored. Driving up we were not sure this establishment was open. We walked in, 2 adults and 3 kids. We were seated almost immediately. It took 20 mins before anyone greeted us and took our drink order. We were gathering our stuff and getting ready to walk out. Note, The table next to us was checked on by 2 different people at least 5 times before we even placed our drink order. They finally came over and we ordered our drinks, apps and entrees all at one time. It took another 40 mins to get our appetizer and 20 mins later our entree order. The food was just ok. I've been coming to Brewster's since 2015. However, this is the first time I've reviewed this restaurant. Over the years I've had some really great meals here. Seen some not so great entertainment (Elvis impersonator LOL) and generally considered this place to be the best restaurant in town. Last night my wife and I stopped by for dinner around 4 pm. It wasn't super crowded. Lots of folks at the bar and one large party already seated. We were seated quickly in a booth and our server came by shortly thereafter to take our order. My wife ordered the pasta with pesto and chicken. I tried to order the pasta with marinara with prawns but was told informed that the prawns were no longer offered even though it was still on the menu. I ended up ordering the 1/2 slab of ribs with fries. We both had side salads which mostly a big pile of lettuce and not much else. For some reason the salads were delayed which caused our entrees to come before we finished the salads. The pesto pasta should have been called pesto pasta soup because the pasta was swimming in the sauce. My ribs portion was generous but I have to say they looked like they were a few days old. The fries were yummy and very generous. The experience was not stellar but I won't give up on Brewster's it's still my go to for a fancy dinner in town. read more

Great place for brunch. Family has been coming here for a while now and we always have great service and delicious food. They have lots of room and are great for big parties. We are always seated within minutes either outdoor or inside. The outside patio is large and has lots of room It's an easy drive from the Sacramento area and with lots of parking spaces.
