Please improve your service! In fairness, it was May 5th, but a seventh grader could have planned ahead. Other people wanted to sit down, but were delayed, who knows why? Empty seats with 5-6 parties having to wait up to 10-15 minutes. Really? I order food for my wife and daughter from time to time, but half of the time, the orders are wrong. Plaza de Sol I've heard of but have never tried until last night. We were craving Mexican food and this was near our home. We order online and went to go pick up our food. I ordered the 2 plate item and got the Chile reno and a chicken enchiladas. The Chile reno was good and the chicken enchilada with red sauce was pretty good too! With the plate comes rice and beans. You can tell the rice was sitting and wasn't fresh. The beans were ok. My bf go the chillie Colorado. He said it was good. The food was good.ut not super amazing. The portion was great! Plaza Del Sol is my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Elk Grove, and they are participating in Restaurant Week in Elk Grove, ending in 5 days. They're offering a BOGO 1/2 off special, and I ordered the 2-item meal. They're offering 1st is the chili Colorado enchilada plate and the 2nd, the carnitas quesadillas and beef taco plate. But the made a mistake and gave me a flour carnitas taco instead of their delicious quesadillas, but they don't often make mistakes so I'll give them a pass. The gentleman that took my order is always so nice, and helpful with my order, and I can tell, welcomes their participation in Restaurant week. Their enchiladas are always very good, and I love their enchilada sauce. The taco was very good as well, with plenty of shredded beef to fill you with just one taco. One of my favorite restaurants is Plaza Del Sol at 8523 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624 I have eaten here for years and really enjoy the food. I decided to take my son and granddaughter out and enjoy a nice evening. The restaurant is very clean, well maintained and definitely a family environment. They have happy hour specials for the adults and lots of things for the kids. I had the 2 item combination of cheese enchilada, chili reyano. My son had carnitas, chips and guacamole. My granddaughter had her favorite chicken taco. All the dishes came with rice and bean. The drinks were hochata and strawberry jarritos. Everything was really excellent, especially the cheese enchilada, my favorite. I really like their guacamole, although it is a bit different then other styles I've tried. It is a bit on the thick side as if mixed in a blender. All the food was hot and fresh. The service could not have been any better. Our server Juan was really friendly and had a great attitude. He treated my granddaughter like a regular customer, which is probably why she likes it so much. Yes, I read some of the poor reviews and they were pretty specific. I feel bad that those things happened but in all the years visiting Plaza Del Sol, I've NEVER had an issue with the food or service. I want to mention one last thing. The food has a bit more salt in it than I like, but the the taste and quality compensates for this. The portions and price are really good. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant. read more

Came here for a work luncheon. The servers were attentive since we were a large party. The carnival tacos were delicious and ready upon arrival. We made our own tacos and the tortillas were kept warm. Only downside was the horchata was kind of watery for my preference, despite it being a fresh batch. read more

Haven't been to this restaurant in years. Came here on Sunday for my father in laws birthday. 630 and restaurant had a few tables with customers. So fairly quiet. Service was prompt with drinks and taking our order. I ordered the steak/shrimp fajitas. Server let me know about 10 mins after they were all out of shrimp. Chose the chicken as a sub. Good serving of rice, beans, guacamole and sour cream. Two tortillas that looked very translucent so I did not eat those at all. Rice and veggies were okay. Took a few bites of the chicken and it was good. Took one bite of the steak and thought maybe it was just the one piece that tasted off. Took another bite and same sour tasting meat! I had a few others try and everyone was making the same face with the smallest bite. Quality control with meat needs to be better!! Unacceptable for a restaurant to cook and serve bad meat. If the sour taste was there cooked, there's absolutely no way the smell of it was not present prior/during cooking. The one star is for the server. Will not be returning. read more

We have eaten here at Plaza Del Sol for the last 12 years. My wife and I have tried many of the other Mexican restaurants in the area but we always come back to this one. My favorite is the "Taco salad" and for my wife it's the "Three mini tacos" but we like many other dishes served here as well. Wanted to try this place and this is such a sad place to call a Mexican restaurant. I've had my fair share of Mexican food and restaurant and this may be the worst ever. I knew it was going to be bad when there was no server and then we realized there was a server but she was talking to a customer for a very long time before helping us. She did this before sitting us down and to us while we waited. We knew from there that this experience was not going to be good. I ordered the three items which were carnitas tacos, carnitas burrito & enchilada with rice and beans. The rice was fluffy and nice. The beans were sweet which I've never had sweet refried beans before. The enchiladas was unseasoned chicken, super watery red sauce, and it had bell peppers. Bell peppers did not belong with the enchiladas at all. I took one bite and could not continue eating it. The carnitas taco and burrito were so dry. The only thing that helped was the sauce from my boyfriend's chile verde. The burrito wasn't even wrapped nicely or tightly, just thrown together on a slightly bigger tortilla and called it a day. My taco had cheese which felt more of an American taco. My boyfriend got the chile verde spicy, the spice was nice but that's about it. The pork with it was dry and the tortillas they gave him to eat with it were super hard. As hard as a tortilla chip, if not harder. We didn't eat it. They offer free chips and salsa but that's like the only good thing we had here. I would not recommend this place at all. I'd say go down the street and try other Mexican places. The food was very good but the main reason for this review is the service. We were sat immediately, our waiter came over and immediately took drink orders. Our food orders were taken and brought out in excellent timing. Each time our waters were half empty, they were filled up. When the chips and dip for low they were right there to bring more. The attention to detail and efficiency deserve a major round of applause especially since there were 5 of us. The friendliness and comfort of the restaurant alone is enough of a reason to come back. The food was also very good. You can get a 3 item combo plate for $19 and it's a generous portion! I got two chicken enchilada and a chicken taco, both delicious and the plate comes with rice and beans. It was lunch and dinner all in one. Stopped in for lunch right about noon. We were the only ones in the place. I ordered the Carne Asada while my wife had the taco salad, minus the tortilla bowl. Mine was perfectly seasoned and the sides were great. My wife's salad was very good. The service was excellent. The only hiccup was the food took about 15 minutes to get to the table but it was worth the wait. I've noticed that they have struggled since the pandemic but I hope they can bounce back. Went here for a last minute dinner with family in town. No wait on Friday night!! Pleasant happy hour specials until 7pm Drinks were good. Service was prompt. Latin guitarist singing vocals at the table was a bonus. I ordered the chicken mole, which was fantastic. Nice flavor, chicken was tender and moist. I sampled the Chile verde which was very good. We were able to get a table in the bar area. It was full and we got the last one. Service was a little slow tonight since they had so much take out. They apologized for the delay. I'm updating my review for Plaza Del Sol. This is the first restaurant I have eaten in since February 2020 in Vancouver because of COVID. I was dying for some albondigas soup as I love it and meatballs are a PITA to make at home. I'm only aware of two places in Elk Grove that make it and I didn't want to go up to Tres Hermanas even though their's is better. I go in and order my soup being super excited after not eating it forever to be told they are out of it. Damn it! Their carne asada is pretty good, but they have raised the price to $20! I know meat has gone up in price, but they also raised the price of chile rellenos. . They are meatless. What's the deal? I settled on some chicken rice soup and it is good. But, I really wanted the albondigas. We're going to Tres Hermanas next Wednesday and I will get my soup. read more

You could use a whole lot more seasoning in the food and maybe a different salsa that has a kick to it tasted really like tomato sauce. I came here for Taco Tues after reading reviews. 1st impressions, it was extremely slow. We were sat down on a dirty booth. They brought out chips and salsa (gross had an after taste). They came to take the order. I have to say I hesitated to order after I was told they don't do Taco Tuesday! I ordered a chicken enchilada dinner thinking you can't mess that up.
