When here for a date night while in town. Very large inside seating area and there is even an outside patio where dogs are allowed. They have a creative cocktail list and we both tried the two each and they were very tasty. Dinner comes with complementary bread which was very good. For an appetizer we got the meatballs, they were amazing and we both said we could have had another 3 plates of them. For dinner my husband got the lobster Mac and cheese which he said was good just wished there was more lobster and I got the vodka pasta which was very flavorful. My cousin and I stopped here on a whim before an appointment, trying to avoid greasy bar food, and to eat in a reasonable time frame on a Wednesday evening. We were able to sit outside, on their front patio. The server was aware of our time crunch (1 hour, 20 mins), and successfully moved dinner along so we had the perfect amount of time to enjoy our meal without rushing. The waitress brought me a glass of sauvignon blanc quickly, and bread accompanied with olive oil dipping sauce. We both ordered pizzas, and they arrived within 30 minutes. I had the Fiora drive pizza, a white base with mushrooms and ricotta, and he had the Fairport Music Festival, loaded with meat, shrimp and a red sauce. The Fiora drive was decent. It was tasty but didn't blow me away. The Fairport Music Festival was interesting, but I think because it has a lot of toppings, it needed to stay in the oven a little longer to prevent undercooking the bottom. In the future I would order a pasta dish to get a feel for some of their other menu items. I would also request to sit outside again, because the interior was very loud, even on a Wednesday night. This is the first time we've been here since they moved. The new place is incredible. Lots of space and very well laid out. The bar area is nice and is probably packed in the early evenings/weekends. We were greeted warmly when we entered. We didn't have reservations, but it was later in the evening and we were immediately seated. Our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. Our meals were good. My wife had the wedge salad and the arancini. There's not much you can say about a wedge salad - it was green, but the arancini was incredible! There red sauce is delicious and I'd highly recommend trying. My daughter had the lobster mezzaluna - I didn't try any but she said it was good. My son had the vodka sauce with the same feedback. I had the woodside drive pizza. It sounded unique and was really very good. The honey made it a bit too sweet for my taste, but worth a try. The issues I had with the visit. The menu is very small and the prices are high. The ravioli came with 6 small ravioli and cost $28. The other meals were also pricey. With no drinks - dinner for 4 was over $100. Now I don't mind paying high prices for good food with great service - especially when supporting local establishments - but the kick in the head on this one was on top of all that, they charged an extra $3.2% credit card fee! I don't know the reason for that, but I do know I won't be going back because of that. The place was not busy. 1st section just past bar had one 2-top occupied. The second front seating area had 2 occupied 4-tops with 2 people at each table. Yet, we got an excuse of, you were lost in the shuffle. The "shuffle"? Must be the great card game happening in the back of the house, cause the place was empty of customers otherwise. From serving consistency of food items, the sharable cinnamon & sugar knots have decreased in size and quantity. These are the things that stand out when you consider a return visit. Had an awesome experience at Compane for my birthday dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and features high ceilings and plenty of open space. I would imagine this would be a great place to host an event. Our server Noah was fantastic. You could tell he has passion for delivering quality service and he did just that. We got the wings which were very flavorful, a swordfish special which was cooked perfectly and very fresh tasting, and the gnocchi which was also delicious. We love this little hidden gem in Fairport! It was recently renovated and the new layout is preferable to the old. Now, the bar is up front and the majority of seating is in the back rather than pushed off to the side. The result is a more spacious, comfortable eating area. Wood tones and metals blend together in the decor, making it a stylish but casual ambiance that is perfect for date night. We haven't had an issue with parking, they have a lot. The food is good. Some items are better than others. We really enjoyed the calamari and several antipasto apps. The pizza is certainly enjoyable, but still doesn't match up to the crispy, blackened crush you expect from wood fired pizza. We still prefer Napa to Compane if we're craving wood fires pizza. The pizza flavors, however, are unique and yummy. The Galusha (mozz, arugula, roasted red pepper and goat cheese) and Fiora Drive (garlic, mozz, mushrooms, ricotta) are my favorites. Pricing is slightly steep, although we recently went for Mother's Day Brunch which was a great value at $25pp for a buffet. My first time here and the food was GREAT. We started with the calamari and it was cooked good ! Nothing spectacular but very good. I got the pork tenderloin Marsala and the pork was cooked to perfection and so tender. Amazing sauce and the deep fried polenta really gave it an added something special. The cosmo I ordered was from their cocktail list and had cucumber and mint flavor and it was so refreshing!! My partner the gemelli pasta dish (vegetarian) and at it all so fast ! He said it was delish... and he's usually very picky about Italian. We also got two desserts to go...brownie bread pudding and cheesecake. The server out our icecream for the bread pudding in ice. That was so thoughtful and helpful!!! The brownie bread pudding was huge and AMAZING and the cheesecake was some of the best I've ever had in my life. My only complaint is I thought the decor was strange and it looked like a seafood restaurant more than Italian. Definitely a mixed review and mixed feelings. I even debated giving them a two but felt that dinging them with a three was enough during these COVID times. First, let me say I welcome the new setting. So much more open and pleasing than their old location across the street. It actually was quite nice with the smaller # of tables in the physical space. With the high ceilings and lack of acoustical support, however, it will be quite loud when they are finally allowed to go to capacity and this is something the restaurant should definitely consider addressing while they have the chance. 5 stars for the setting and ambiance. 3 stars for the noise. It will also be quite nice when the weather warms up and they have a chance to place tables outside on the strip in front of the restaurant. Well, you'll be overlooking the parking lot, but at least it will be outdoors. 5 stars there. As more places go into the building, this will become the place to be in Fairport. But this brings me to my first ding, and it's not really their fault but the location itself. There's simply no parking available in the small lot. We ate on a Thursday evening and though the restaurant was full, it was limited capacity, and I don't believe the other breweries were that busy. Right now you have two restaurants, two brew pubs, and a distillery in this facility with plenty of additional space for other places to go in. But there is absolutely no place to park. You have the big facility with turf fields in the same building - everything is competing for parking. Poor design and something the city should have addressed long before they gave approval for this project to go forward. Frankly, it's going to be a mess in the summer with crowds and people having to park on side streets or continuously cruising the small lot for a space to open up. Not the restaurant's fault, but it will come back to bite all of the great pubs and restaurants in the facility as well as those to come. But enough of that, let's talk about the service. We were promptly seated and greeted. Our waiter was enthusiastic and did a great job (and was compensated well w/tip) for his service. The bar was slow, but they were busy so I'll forgive that. But the attentiveness of Josh, the speed of food delivery, and the attention to the table after the meal was superb. A 5 here. So let's talk about the food. We shared the arancini and dip trio as openers. Both were good, the arancini were superb. Cooked perfectly and the sauce was seasoned just right. I had the gnocchi, my wife had the swordfish (special Mediterranean style) and our dinner companion had the salmon (special). I can't say enough about the food. Everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned just right, and overall wonderful. Definitely a 5! So why only three stars (possibly less). Well, it has to do with value. First, if you look at the menu online, it bears no relationship to what you see in the restaurant itself. That's okay, except the online menu mirrors more closely what they used to serve across the street and it shows very moderate prices. The salmon we had was $30, the swordfish was $31, and the gnocchi was $26. Now the gnocchi is homemade and it was cooked perfectly so I'm not going to grouse too much about a high price for potato flour but the fish portions were not overly large and as we often eat fish and prepare it at home, these prices were just too high for a local casual restaurant. Okay, I understand that with limited seating and the pandemic hurting restaurants that a bit of padding might need to occur at this point but if it continues, it could hurt the place. But what made me start to write this review in the first place was the drinks. We started with a Smokestack for everyone - rye, maple syrup, etc. A wonderfully smoky and smooth take on a Manhattan (and by the way, I love the bar setting which is several times larger than they had at the old place and will undoubtedly be a gathering place like it was before). But when the drinks arrived, I could barely restrain myself from making a comment. They come in very cute glasses, a curved take on an old highball glass. But they are small (hence why I said cute). They would be small if the drink was served straight up. But these came with a large single cube in the glass. A touch of class to be sure but it took up more than half the glass, probably 2/3. Remove that ice cube, and you don't even have the equivalent of a single shot. It's two good sips and the drink is gone. $12 for a half shot of rye and some mixers. Tasteful, but completely disappointing. Definitely a 1 and not something I would ever order again no matter how good it tasted. So there's no value in the meal, and that was disappointing. But perhaps not as disappointing as the 3.25% credit card surcharge that appeared at the bottom of the bill. It's not shown on the web site & I can't recall seeing it on the menu. Friends suggested this place in the village of Fairport which we had never been to since we usually head into the city for dinner. They do take reservations which is good because it was hopping on Saturday evening. We were very pleasantly surprised by our experience. The servers were all very friendly and efficient especially given the big crowd. We started with a nicely tender and tasty serving of calamari. We also tried their wedge salads - the candied bacon and sauteed onions were a nice touch. Each of us then ordered a different pizza and all were proclaimed to be a success. My Fourth Street pizza was excellent and with the added pepperoni was really loaded with meat. I've been eyeing to try this place for a while now, and finally got the chance. Lets just say I was not disappointed! The ambiance is set for a nice romantic date night! They also have a back patio, which was decorated with little light bulbs which made for a cute night time feel. We first sat outside because it was a perfect summer day, but then the bees came over and we had to move our dinner inside. The staff was very nice and accommodating and moved all our drinks and food to an inside table. The lighting was very dim, a little too dim for me, but some people are in to that. Now the food was the star of the show. We ordered the Artichoke French, Arancino del Giorno, and pasta Bolognese. The artichoke french, was hands down the best I've ever had. The batter on the artichoke was light and cooked to a perfect light crisp and the lemon sherry sauce had the perfect balanced flavor. I find that artichoke french sauce can be a bit too on the lemony side, and this sauce was just perfection! The arancino del giorno this is something that changes daily, these are Sicilian Fried rice balls, filled with something different every day. Ours was filled with some sort of potato and sauce, it was delicious ball of flavor and perfectly fried. The Pasta Bolognese was made with fresh housemade Fussilli pasta. The sauce was a perfect mix of chicken, beef, and pork. The meats were married to the best bolognese sauce I've ever had. The dish and sauce are full of great Italian flavors and I couldn't stop eating it. Compane was a great delicious experience! I tried this location for the first time and had a disappointing experience. I had to park quite far from the entrance, and when I got to the door it was locked even though they were open. I had to wait for someone to unlock it in 20° weather. The prices are high for the small portions you get, and my friend and I were given a basket with the 4 smallest slices of bread I have ever seen! We ended up leaving as soon as we finished eating because the acoustics are so atrocious we couldn't hear each other without almost screaming. There was nothing appealing on the dessert menu anyway. Our waitress tried to charge us a credit card fee on our bill even though we paid with cash. When we pointed it out to her she seemed apathetic then annoyed. I was not a fan of the atmosphere there... it felt cold, dark and dull. Our server and busser had a rather neutral attitude throughout our meal. My time at Compane was mediocre. When I had first gotten there it was asked if there was a great table or something with a view since it was our first time. The hostess offered by the bar or the main dining space. There is outdoor seating, but we were unaware until after we ordered our food and saw people being sat out there. It would have been nice to have been nice to have been offered since we asked in the first place and there was plenty of space. We ordered the bacon and asparagus salad, which was very good with flavor and well priced. I also shared three pizzas. The pizza is thin with homemade crust and sauce. It was alright, but almost too thin that it was hard instead of soft and gooey. Our server was accommodating with request of different toppings and was very attentive.
