    Butterscotch Budino
    Jeremy J.

This was the Valentine's dinner destination for my wife and me. The dining room is small but cozy. Reminded me of some of the restaurants I have visited in the north end of Boston. Our waiter was very personable and graciously saved us from having to pronounce some of the wines and dishes on the menu. The food was great. We started with the grilled octopus and charred bread with Ricotta. Both were delicious. The balance of the charred bread against the ricotta was my favorite. The vinaigrette on the grilled octopus had great flavor and complemented the octopus and greens well. Would have liked a little more char but not a big deal. For the main course my wife had the scallops special which came with olive oil potatoes. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the olive oil potatoes were simple but tasty. I had the NY strip with balsamic and added foie gras as it is not something I come across often in Rochester but love it with steaks. It came with some nice crunchy onion rings and those tasty olive oil potatoes. We were hesitant to get dessert as we were stuffed but ultimately shared a butterscotch Budino. It was a custard dessert with a syrupy topping that had almonds which provided a perfect balance to make it not too sweet. Overall great finish to a satisfying and delicious meal.

It's been a long time since I've written a review like this. Maybe we ordered the wrong items but I was super disappointed overall. You have to order everything at the same time. Apps, salads and dinners etc. for someone like me who needs time to look over the menu but wants an app in early, this didn't really jive with me- but okay. There are no descriptions on the menu of the food. I had no idea what most of it was or what it came with so I had to annoy my super busy waitress for a description of a bunch of items. Wish I had a picture of the menu because it looks like a hot mess and is not easy to read. I ended up ordering the gnocchi and a Caesar salad because I thought it was the safe route not knowing what these dishes were. Boy was I wrong. The salad could have been bigger and the lettuce wasn't cut. The gnocchi was not the traditional gnocchi one would expect. I got 3 logs of who knows what and barely any sauce. When compared to the other dishes with sauce, mine looked pathetic. The scallop dish only had 3 scallops over coleslaw. Not filling at all for a main dish. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was a cold slab of tastelessness. Dishes were so small so no leftovers. Other Italian restaurants we go to we have a large Togo box to bring home. No pre-dining bread was offered. The good parts were The ricotta bread app was delicious and the person who got the pork chop enjoyed his meal. We spent 400 for 4 people. I had high hopes for this place and was excited to quench my pasta thirst. Sadly it was the opposite and we won't be returning.

This was a delightful Yelp find at the end of a long day of driving between New Hampshire and Indianapolis. We were seated immediately on the charming patio, even on a Saturday evening around 8 p.m. Our waiter was friendly and offered some great recommendations. The charred bread with ricotta was our favorite thing... so tasty with a glass of wine. I also enjoyed tomato/mozzarella salad - very fresh and much bigger than I was expecting. We also shared a Paulie G pizza, an interesting combination of pepperoni, tomato sauce and hot honey. All in all, a great dinner. Would go back again if I'm ever in the area.

Nice food and good service!! I real liked the Caesar salad. I got food poisoning the other day from a different restaurant and needed to eat something light and healthy- this was a great option! I was full and comfortable after my meal. Thanks

The location is great and easy to find. Parking space you can find is a small parking lot next to one restaurant before Rocco or can find a parallel parking lot as well. The space in the restaurant is pretty tight but the service was excellent which is I would have given 5 stars for their service. But I gave 3 stars instead because of the food. The appetizer - bread was overtoasted like the whole slice was too black for my preference. The crab stuffing pepper has some crabs but it's more stuffing with panko and some veggies. I can taste very salty which is too much for me. The pepper itself is overcooked. I am not sure why food was not great as it is very popular spot that people go, but it could be very busy that chefs didn't pay attention carefully on food. I do hope that they'll do better next time with food if I ever come to have a meal there.

The food was amazing! The service was excellent. The waiter was attentive and prompt efficient and very kind. The place is small and intimate but we had reservations and were seated right away. Highly recommend this authentic Italian restaurant.

Really good pasta and meatballs. Sauce was great!

I ordered the pasta and shrimp special, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Unfortunately, my daughter is vegetarian and ordered the Gnocchi Rossi, which was quite disappointing. It lacked flavor and was very bland compared to my meal. The biggest downside of our visit was the service. We were trying to enjoy some quality mother-daughter time together, but our waitress interrupted us constantly--almost every time we took a bite. We repeatedly assured her that everything was fine, yet she continued coming back to the table. At one point, while we were still actively eating, she asked if we were ready for boxes. When I said no, she replied, "Oh, okay, you're just taking your time." It definitely felt like we were being rushed rather than encouraged to relax and enjoy our meal. To top it off, we were never offered dessert or after-meal options. Despite feeling a bit rushed and annoyed by the constant interruptions, we still left a good tip because the waitress was working hard and remained polite. Overall, the food was a mixed experience, the atmosphere was wonderful, but the service made what should have been a relaxing mother-daughter lunch feel hurried.

The restaurant was quite crowded during Friday happy hour, and one server was responsible for both the tables and the bar. He was clearly overworked, so we were not attended to as consistently as we hoped and we only had time for one round of orders. The food took a long time to arrive, while the drinks came out almost immediately. *Cosmopolitan Bianca: was very heavy on the gin. I could only taste the lime, with no hint of cranberry or hibiscus. The hibiscus reduction added a pretty purple color but did not provide any tart or floral flavor. *Sweet Potato Fries: were not perfectly crispy, but the portion size was generous. The honey could have used additional spices, since the dish leaned heavily toward sweetness. *Pepperoni Pizza: This was a good shareable option, although it lacked a proper char and crust even when fresh. The dough sat in a noticeable amount of salty oil. The pepperoni cupped nicely and added a slight bit of texture, but the rest of the pizza was rather soggy. The happy hour menu was serviceable, but nothing was executed particularly well. It is not a bad spot for small bites after work, but I would not go out of my way to dine here.

We ordered hot toddies to drink, which were perfect for the weather, and for food we got the Japanese sweet potatoes and the cavolo nero pesto. It's a small space inside but it's designed well enough to manage a flow of traffic for customers and staff. We sat in the back greenhouse area. I think the least enjoyable part of our experience was how loud it was in the restaurant. Definitely not a good spot if you're trying to catch up with someone and your voice doesn't carry. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

So for the prices Delmonicos is charging, it should have been an amazing steak. The steak we ordered was cooked to perfection at our request of medium rare. But the steak was way too over seasoned and the accompanying pasta way over done. Also I think the pasta sauce came from the gas station down the street. We also tried the 12-ounce salmon (which is a massive portion of salmon). It came over a risotto that tasted way too salty and under a Gorgonzola cheese that actually made me vomit in my mouth a little. So why 2 stars instead of 1? Finally upon her return the waitress took our drink orders and when I asked she gave us the listing of specials for the evening. My niece had a specialty mocktail that was described as having a "hint" of lavender- turns out the other items were done with a hint and all my niece (and I tasted) was the strong presence of lavender. For appetizers we ordered fried calamari that came with the typical red sauce- the fried calamari was good, but nothing special. We also ordered the lamp lollipops for an additional app and let me just say- they were the BEST part about our dinner! Perfectly cooked to medium rare and seasoned and grilled to perfection. It was my neices first time trying them and she said she couldn't wait to have them again. For our main dishes, my niece had the penne vodka- which was "okay" but really lacked on favor, nothing really special about it. I honestly think she makes it better at home. For my entree I had the Salmon- which came with a very thick strawberry sauce over the top of it. My fish was cooked perfectly and tasted great- without the thick "strawberry like" sauce over the top of it (I ended up scraping it off of the fish.
